Hi all, preparing an image for our next deployment (10 Odroid C2), I found that somehow the MAC address visible in Uboot doesn't make it into Armbian system. On the first copied system (I use odroidbackup.pl), in Uboot "Printenv" I get ethaddr=00:1e:06:36:58:63 Original system gives me: ethaddr=00:1e:06:34:fa:1a Both systems report to our DHCP server with the latter MAC, which will lead to troubles when both boards will be in the same network Any hints how to get the (apparently eFuse stored) MAC into the Armbian system? Thanks in advance, Michael

Hi everyone, I have Radxa Zero 4GB-64GeMMC model. I'm using latest Armbian (22.05.3) on microSD card. I want to connect my portable SSD (500GB) to RZ with USB3.0 hub that has additional power imput to support energy hungry devices. I checked usb hub is working with 16GB usb flash. My ssd use realtek RTL9210 chip. I also get similar problem with 32gb mSD card formatted with FAT32. When I connected the SD card reader, other device that uses same hub become slaggish and do not working properly. If I unplag sd card or ssd everything back normal. I thing there is a driver problem. Hello, I have 16GB orange eMMC v0.4 module for Odroid C2. I have installed on it Armbian Debian Stretch Next (mainline kernel). Hi! I downloaded 'Armbian_5.20_Odroidc1_Debian_jessie_3.10.103.7z' today, put it on a SD card and successfully booted and 'ssh'ed in it. The board - an old C1 - is running fine. Now I want to install fail2ban and mc, but with the original 'sources.list' for apt there's no way to to that via apt-get. Will I run into difficulties if I change the 'sources.list' to the normal Debian ones and make my installations, updates and upgrades from there? Frank

Hi, I've downloaded and successfully installed Armbian_5.47_Odroidc2_Debian_stretch_default_3.16.57 on an Odroid C2 (eMMC) : HDMI output is working fine. Then I ran: apt-get update then apt-get upgrade then I got a message saying that the kernel has been updated and that I need to reboot. After the reboot, I have no HDMI output anymore. SSH is available and board seems to be working fine. For information, after the update: uname -a Linux jeedom 3.16.57-odroidc2 #72 SMP PREEMPT Wed Sep 19 12:32:15 CEST 2018 aarch64 GNU/Linux Tried this without success. I've tested with other cable and screen, no success.

Hi all, as a small status update on the seafloor business, here are some pictures of the new Odroid C2 based instruments which will be deployed in September/October in the northers Pacific. Ten modules with different functionality will be deployed, all based on a standard setup of Odroid C2, TRB3sc FPGA based TDC DAQ system, one PADIWA preamp, and a modded mdedia converter serving as a fully configurable mini switch. One of the modules carries several Hamamatsu mini spectrometers, as well as a camera, to observe bioluminescence. Another module is targeting at muon tracking with SiPM based readout: …

Hi, with my Odroid C2 I experience a strange behaviour regarding Armbian Updates. Initially Armbian_5.38_Odroidc2_Debian_jessie_default_3.14.79 was installed, after installation I did an upgrade to Debian Stretch. Meanwhile a new Armbian version v5.44 / v5.45 with a newer Kernel is available for Odroid C2 devices. If I do "apt update" and "apt upgrade", a newer version isn't visible or would be installed? The system is stuck on v5.38 with Kernel 3.14.79: " Welcome to ARMBIAN 5.38 stable Debian GNU/Linux 9 (stretch) 3.14.79-odroidc2 Linux lx 3.14.79-odroidc2 #14 SMP PREEMPT Thu Jan 25 05:46:07 CET 2018 aarch64 System load: 0.39 0.28 0…

Hi, My first time attempting to use a nightly image in an attempt to get away from the legacy kernel. I installed Armbian_5.33.171007_Odroidc2_Debian_stretch_next_4.13.5.img on my C2, and it booted up just fine. Unfortunately, my primary use case for this hardware is a music streamer (and server), requires the ability to use Class 2 USB Audio, with (relatively) high-end USB DACs. I was unable to get the USB DAC to be recognized at all (did not show up in the ALSA devices listed by aplay -L, nor was it listed by lsusb.) I immediately reverted to the official Debian image running 3.14.79-odroidc2, and all was well again. As you can see below, my Te…

A few weeks ago, after a firmware-upgrade my C2 bricked. It's blue led didn't flash any more and no serial console was available. I did a quick install of the desktop image for the ODROID C2. It sees no audio devices (HDMI - or any of the half dozen or so USB Audio devices I quickly tried). However, I have a app I wrote that builds a custom "kitchen sink" version of FFMPEG (everything is enabled). I built it on the C2 (to get a compile time), and noticed the sound did work from the app (and it sounded great). I wish I would have had more time to investigate why no audio devices are detected, and further, why I am able to play sound (only from the one app). Sorry. I am just trying to be helpful in saying "hey - the sound IS there - some users just may not be able to immediately get to…

Hello, So I have ODROID C2 running latest Armbian bionic with kernel 5.6.11-meson64 #trunk.130. I have a Quectel E25 4G LTE modem connected via USB port. Everything works like a charm - BUT - whenever I try to download (or upload) even small amounts of data, I get kernel panic and the process hangs. Sometimes, the whole device crashes. It happens only when I try to download or upload data. Even trying to paste large amount of text into a terminal text editor causes kernel panic. This does NOT happen if I'm connected via ethernet. Here's the dmesg (while I was trying to wget a file) - [ 155…

Running ODroid HC4 on Armbian bookworm with Openmediavault 7 with docker compose plugin. I've done 2 clean installs to ensure the problem is reproducable and not something I meddled with. They just cannot be accessed even from the host machine e.g. curl http://localhost:8080 fails when running a sample container docker hub forums supplied me with as a 'surefire' test. --- services: test_default_bridge: image: nginx:latest network_mode: bridge …

Thanks to g4751 for doing the tests for Odroid-HC4. The tests for the Odroid-C2 were performed by myself. Tests were performed on Armbian 24.08 Official releases. Fix is to add a section to the DTB to enable a recently (last year) added kernel driver "meson64-reboot" that is an updated version of the "odroid-reboot" in older kernels. For Odroid-C2: - save your existing DTB - use DTC to convert DTB->DTS - modify the DTS with the code below - use DTC to convert DTS->DTB - reboot (will fail because new DTB not loaded yet) - POR (will now load the new DTB) - log-in - reboot should now work. …

Hi, I'm working on adding baudrate changes to recent Uboot v2017.11 for the Odroid C2. Took some time to understand the way Uboot handles access to hardware... I tried to get some clean solution, and wanted to ask on how I can submit my changes to the main developpers. Would be great if you could give me a hint on that issue. I still need some time for testing the changes, so it is not urgent (we need this feature to have 9600 8N1 access to the C2, as it will be deployed on a place without easy access So far, Michael

I am trying to follow various tutorials on full disk LUKS root encryption for Odroid C2 with a emmc. Every tutorial I have found makes use of a separate partition for boot. Something like /dev/sdx1 (vfat) 100Mb. Mostly raspi tutorials but a few others that are step by step instructions out there as well. The armbian.img file does not have a separate boot partition when I use dd to transfer to emmc or sdcard. Do I just make a vfat partition on /dev/mmcblk0 (the emmc) and copy the /boot folder over to /dev/mmcblk0p1, and run dd again to put the arbian.img on /dev/mmcblk0p2? Anybody know of a what I need to do to make that partition so I can try some…

So as we know, the Hardkernel kernel did support powering the device on and off via a GPIO pin. This does not seem to work on Armbian with the mainline kernel. What does work is powering the device on and off with the remote control. So I wonder, what has to be done to enable power on and off vie the GPIO? My approach till now makes it possible to shutdown the device via GPIO interrupt. But then it will not come up again except if I reconnect the power cord or use the remote. I use this user device three overlay btw: /dts-v1/; /plugin/; /{ fragment@0 { target = <&ao_pinctrl>; __overlay__ { powe…

When I start the OS for the first time, the cursor is not visible, either at the command line or in the nano editor. I'm running the HDMI output through a HDMI->VGA adapter, which is then fed into my KVM along with the mouse and keyboard. The monitor is capable of 1920x1200, and it all works fine except for the cursor not being visible. I've tried various escape codes, etc. Nano never displays a cursor. When I log in via SSH the cursor is plainly visible. I'm trying to configure the WiFi, which doesn't seem to want to work if the ethernet is connected, so I'm stuck at the tty terminal. Any suggestions?

I can't get the ubuntu gui desktop to use the entire 2160p screen - it only uses 1/4 (1080p upper left rectangle.) The settings menu for display is locked to 1080p. I've searched and there are explanations as to how to set boot.ini to get 2160p (which works) but the ubuntu desktop won't use the full screen. What do I need to do to get a full screen GUI display? Thanks.

Hello. I tested Armbian Jessie with Odroid C1+ and encountered several issues, would like to know if they're known or if I've done something wrong. 1) Odroid C1+ gets no display if not booting into X11. Framebuffer text console is not present at all. This makes it impossible to do any kind of configuration if not connecting via SSH. 2) If connecting via SSH, updating the system and rebooting, it doesn't seem to boot anymore. The machine is not available for ping, and I can no longer connect to do any further configuration. 3) Issuing "reboot" over SSH seems not to reboot the board, instead power needs to be cycled manually. I'm tried server and desk…

With my OPi Zero, I noticed that at random times the ethernet connection somehow gets disabled. The only way to recover is by power cycling. I use the device as Pi-Hole (so when ethernet gets disconnected, I don't have internet anymore), print server and UniFi controller. I decided to swap it for my Odroid C2. Odd enough the C2 has the same issue. Maybe someone can help me with this? When powercycled, the Odroid with the latest Armbian (installed two days ago) is all up and running fine. It can connect to the internet, I can SSH into it. The ethernet led is flashing orange, so the gigabit connection is available. However, at rondom times the ethernet led…

Hi armbian team ! I've been running my Odroid C2 for almost 2 years with the only then available distro for my board : odrobian. As that distro is now left without maintainer, I'm turning to other distros and am glad to see my board supported by armbian (which I currently use on various Orange Pi boards). Is there a path to migrate my Odroid C2 installation from odrobian to armbian with minimum downtime ? (it's a server) Or should I consider installing everything from scratch on another board and copy my configuration there ? Thanks !

Not sure if this belongs here or upstream but I figure I'd post here first. I'm running kubernetes on a bunch of odroid c2s and randomly pairs or sometimes single ones will crash randomly. I was able to capture the logs from the crash, but I can't seem to get a core dump. I was, however, able to determine that the panic occurs when rapidly removing and adding virtual ethernet devices. Some sort of collision seems to occur and the kernel oopsies into oblivion. It happens constantly, so much that I've had to put my project on hold =( This happens with the stock image from hardkernel, the latest stable armbian image for c2, and the latest nightly for …

Hello Forum, i am using a vdr headless server with 3 Technisat Skystar USB tuners for satellite television streaming. Before i used a raspberry pi 2 but because of limitations with its ethernet bandwith i went to odroid c2. System is now armbian with self compiled vdr with vnsi plugin, both out of git repo. System runs fine but after some hours (8h) a sporadic failure occurs and (USB?) system becomes unusable, To get the 3 dvb-s2 tuners running i increased the urb pool (USB request block) with kernel parameter "coherent_pool=6M" in boot.ini. I calculated that every of all 3 instances of driver needs about 512kB of USB buffer memory, without the option the first inst…

Hi, I'm currently considering an ODROID C2 to replace an Rpi3 as a combined headless tvheadend and mysql server, with GPIO control of a relay for a fan. It's upgrading to Gigabit LAN that I'm after, to avoid the occasional bottleneck to my NAS. Legacy sounds like it's working well enough on the C2, but the USB T2 tuners I'm using are only supported in kernel 3.19 or above... Hello, I have trouble activating i2c on odroid c4. There's a pcf8563 module connected to the board. Also, /dev/i2c-0 /dev/i2c-1 exist. But pcf8563 does not show up when I run i2cdetect. I can rule out hardware issue because both i2c and pcf8563 work well with Hardkernel's Ubuntu image. So far, I've tried the followings but they don't work: Adding overlay="i2cA i2cB" to /boot/armbianEnv.txt and reboot. Manually editing device tree by changing status under "i2c@1d000" to "okay" and reboot. Also, I remember that i2c used to work on older versions of Armbian, which come with older version of kernels. But since linux 5.19, i2c no longer w…

I'm currently running Armbian 5.60 on an Odroid C2. Tried the new mainline kernel version (5.71) on the weekend and everything looked fine at first, but when I got to starting one of my docker containers, it failed. This container uses armhf binaries. Is there some way of enabling armhf support with the new mainline kernel builds of Armbian, or do I need a custom build now? I installed docker via armbian-config. As far as I can remember, I did not have to do anything special to get this working on the 3.x kernel build... Any pointers in the right direction would be appreciated. Thanks and best regards, Ulr…

hi all . i think sd card is much shorter life time and restricted size ( 64G ~ 128G and big size is too expensive ). so as server , i like to use hard disk as root . for this purpose , nand-sata-install.sh is excellent ( but too complex for me to understand ) . i use nand-sata-install.sh on odroid-c2 armbian . and on working armbian , i run next script . It seems the networking in Armbian 5.59 is messed up. It creates a eth0 adapter (disabled) and Wired network 1 adapter. You can delete these in nmtui, but they always return. I had the same issue with NanoPi Duo using mainline Stable. I can get it to work a bit using armbian-config, removing all interfaces and configuring IP, but it gets screwed up again. I cannot trust to run 5.59 headless because I have no way to get into the SBC without hooking video back up.

I'm running Armbian from a emmc 16GB card. When I use the web browser the mouse constantly flickers, is there any way to get this to stop? Is there a graphics driver I should have enabled? When I select Additional Hardware Drivers none show up, so maybe there isnt a GPU accelerated driver available. Also switching between desktops feels sluggish. Maybe Im expecting too much performance from a $50 SBC. Thanks for your help & time in making this distribution. Im just looking to make the best user experience possible.

Hi guys, I just recompiled my patches from old 2015 Uboot to the 2018 version, allowing setting the baud rate in Uboot (for accessing it by 9600 8N1), and saving envs in eMMC. First one works, I can switch easily baudrates now, but "saveenv" fails, spitting out a lot of error messages: => saveenv Saving Environment to EXT4... Card did not respond to voltage select! ** Bad device mmc 0 ** Failed (1) I also see that apparently the settings are being loaded from a wrong partition: U-Boot 2018.07-armbian (Oct 28 2018 - 10:43:58 +0100) odroid-c2 DRAM: 2 GiB MMC: mmc@72000: 0, mmc@74000: 1 Loading Environment from EXT4... Hi all, I'm new to Linux and trying to set up a music server using my Odroid C2/Armbian/Cantata/MPD/HDMI sound. Got Armbian 5.60 (Stretch) 4.18.8 installed. Cantata sees the small test music library I set up on the C2 and appears to play tracks as the progress bar moves. I get no sound from the C2 connected HDMI monitor. (for initial testing only, i2s + DAC/Amp later). I tried the same set up using the Odroid Ubuntu/Mate desktop image a few days back and it worked straight out of the box. My suspicion is that the audio output settings in the mpd.conf are not correct (mpd 0.19.21). For HDMI sound output, does my version of Armbian use Pul…

Hello Guys, i am running an Odroid C2 with the latest Armbian based on debian Bullseye. As disk i am using an 8GB emmc flash drive. For longlive reasons i am thinking about to reduce the read or more important the write access to that drive. I know, that every SD card and also every EMMC flash drive got a certain amount of write access and then its dead... So i am ask you what can i do to reduce read/write: - move logs to external usb? - activate ZRAM? - disable cache...? - tmpfs? I am just at the beginning of this, so kindly let me know if you guys have some well know hints. Thanks JM

Hi All, I'm tring to make Ocroid C2 working with PiSound shield. https://github.com/BlokasLabs/pisound/tree/master/pisound-module I've compiled the module, an I'm able to install it properly. Hi - I'm running kernel 4.18.8-odroidc2 under stretch and I've installed linux-headers-next-odroidc2 linux-source-4.18.8-next-odroidc2 where the kernel image was linux-image-next-odroidc2 The system in general rocks - I was worried about not being able to use my RTL8812AU in the monitor mode - but it works! But I have 2 issues with 4.18.8-odroidc2, first the RTC PCF8563 module. The .config file includes the following entries CONFIG_RTC_DRV_PCF85363=m # CONFIG_RTC_DRV_PCF8563 is not set The Odroid C2 RTC shield is the one not set, namely, the PCF8563 …

Hello I'm running debian bullseye on an Odroid C4 since quite some time now and decided it was a good time to upgrade to bookworm. When I first installed armbian on this board, I remember that I had to install the Odroid HC4 image. If I'm not mistaking, there were no C4 image at the time. After upgrading my current bullseye firmware with armbian-config ( and by passing the SSD issue described in this armbian forum post by hot plugging it ), I noticed that /boot/armbianEnv.txt had this line: fdtfile=amlogic/meson-sm1-odroid-hc4.dtb whereas the amlogic/meson-sm1-odroid-c4.dtb file exists in the /boot/dtb directory. Despite having read…

I am using: Armbian_5.14_Odroidc2_Debian_jessie_3.14.71 I am a bit stumped....if I run with 3 network interfaces, everything is fine. If I add a fourth interface...the system locks up...even if the 3rd and 4th interface have no ip address. They just need to be live! I have tried 4 drastically different interfaces in case the device driver can't handle it. Anybody have any thoughts or suggestions?? THank you!
