Hello fellow geeks/nerds, Here still using a Rock Pi 4c on 26.2.0-trunk.44. After upgrading to 26.2.0-trunk.62 the Rockpi just does not come back. No display no network. Wish I could provide more details beside the versions. I've went ahead and froze the kernel updates. If there's a way to maybe pull a log of sorts please let me know and I'll post it.

Hi, I'm using a bananaPI m5 pro SBC with a rk3576 CPU and built-in emmc and linaro OS. I'd like to install minimal/IOT images using Armbian Linux v6.1. I went through all of the banana PI docs, but none of them contained any useful information about installing the OS and booting from SD cards. Can someone help me with this?

Picked up a P1 Pro the other day. Used the P1 installer, and it boots fine. However WiFi and m.2 dont work ( no m.2 makes it useless for me.. WiFi, i can use a dongle ) so i assume the device tree needs changed. Still a newbie at this, so unsure how i can find or extract the tree from somewhere else. They do have a couple of official builds of other OS, but not real sure how to get it from there, if you even can. Lots of googling for a tree has come up empty.

Just stumbled over another chromium fork: https://github.com/Alex313031/Thorium Forum search did not show any entries, so I thought I might share. The arm64 builds (for raspberry though) works great, it even has googly sync, widevine etc, check describtion for more info. It works out-of-the-box on legacy rock-5b jammy gnome images with liujianfeng1994 ppa enabled. For installation/updates one could also use: wget https://dl.thorium.rocks/debian/dists/stable/thorium.list sudo mv thorium.list /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ sudo apt update sudo apt install thorium-browser I usually like to test https://paveldogreat.github.…

Hello Folks, good day. I have a project where I need to use a OrangePi 4B and couple of hardware pieces connected to it. I'm having trouble putting together a Linux image where I have, at least the minimum functions required for the project working. I need an image where these items below are enable/working: - SPI - I2C - GPIO - PWM - 10.1 MIPI DSI LCD + TOUCH (available here) - MIPI CSI Webcam (OV13850) - 3D Acceleration (WebGL / OpenGl) using the Mali t860 - Bluetooth - Wifi Ideally, I would like to use the most recent Focal mainline kernel, but a legacy image will also be fine. I've b…

Anyone cares, have some helpful tips or time & knowledge to fix this ? Problem: No audio on either sink (board or HDMI) with the latest built made available for download (Armbian 23.02 Jammy XFCE Kernel 5.15.y, Size: 1313Mb, Release date: Feb 27, 2023) Tried so far: Switching the default server to nanopmi4v2 and toggling the default sink; Hints: Both sinks work fine on a previous 'dirty nightly built' that I have used for a while. "armbianmonitor" on both built attached for anyone who can help. Thanks Older-Nightly-Dirty-Built.txt Lates-Official-Built.txt

Hello, I am trying to enable Panfrost GPU acceleration on a new Armsom Sige5 board running the latest edge kernel (6.1.115), but glxinfo -B still shows llvmpipe. I have been troubleshooting this for some time and have discovered that the kernel module (panfrost.ko) loads correctly with modprobe, but it is not binding to the GPU hardware on boot. I believe I have found the reason why. A recent commit to the Armbian build system (https://github.com/armbian/build/commit/836def3d11699537e6289dedfbc766c2050d422d) changes the method for enabling Panfrost. It removes the panfrost overlay and adds KERNEL_TARGET_CONFIG="panfrost-all" instead. It…

My system is on NVME, and its working so not sure why error popped. I am connected to wifi, so again not sure why wifi drivers are having issues. however my board never shows it has gpu. can some one guide me ? Hi All! I've recently moved to Armbian (Debian buster server) on my Rock Pi 4B - from Ubuntu provided by Radxa (some way failed upgrade). However system is booting from eMMC which has Radxa kernel and then directly to Armbian file system on SSD connected via USB 3.0. Great is that Armbian is working with Radxa kernel, which I want to change to 5.8.14-rockchip64. My question is how should I prepare /boot folder on eMMC (which is FAT file system) to boot Armbian kernel? Is there any other way (reformat eMMC for ext4@32768 sector for /boot folder) to achieve this? Thanks.

I have a recovery issue. I have successfully flashed an image on to my RK3399 SOM, but I made a mistake on the USB, so am trying to correct the error, but I have no USB communication when I boot into recovery mode. It also tries to find a backup partition: "'backup' does not seem to be a partition nor an address Unable to boot:backup" then suggests I start rockusb: "try to start rockusb", but I have no USB. I have tried with several different computers and USB cables, but there is no USB! I assume that the boot file for recovery mode are no…

I've installed Armbian_v22.05.2_Rockpi-4cplus_jammy_current_6.1.33_minimal and whatever I try to play a 1080p video via the performance is horrible with very slow refresh, totally unusable. Normally loki gives me acceptable performance on SBCs of similar performance but not in this case. The Rock 4c plus is quite powerful so I'm really shocked at how badly it's performing. Let me be clear, I understand that the issue I see is not that the Rock 4c plus isn't cable of playing video, clearly it is and I'm not complaining about the hardware of the device. It's just that the software being used clearly needs to be optimised for it and most things out th…

Hi, I'm trying to fully boot an Orange Pi 4 from a USB flash drive from Uboot's prompt before it actually loads the kernel from the SD card (The SD card already has a working image of Armbian installed, that's where the board pulled Uboot from and is booting from it). The SD card currently has Armbian_23.5.1_Orangepi4_jammy_current_6.1.30_gnome_desktop installed on it. The reason why I'm trying to boot the board from USB is that I want to try an image with Orange Pi 4's legacy kernel to be able to take advantage of its vendor Mali blob for performance comparison against the current open source Panfrost driver in mainline kernel. And that I don't ha…

Hi, Not sure if anyone has seen the same as I have been seen on my box; the HDD status LEDs are cycling in brightness, from 0% to 100% and back to 0% continuously. Hi! My Orange Pi 5 (no Pro, no Plus, no B…) was running Armbian, the Debian Bullseye flavour. It was running Linux `5.10.110-rockchip-rk3588`, then I installed the `linux-image-current-rockchip-rk3588` metapackage, which pulled and installed Linux `6.10.6-current-rockchip-rk3588`. Right after having installed such kernel, I tried to reboot the device, but the device never rebooted: it's just stuck at startup, nothings is displayed on screen and the device is not available on the network (doesn't do any DHCP request at all). I fully unplugged anything from the board, including removing and re-inserting the microSD card. The device now refuses to boot since I up…

Hello ! i'm trying to enable the SPI interface on a OrangePi4B board using Focal latest stable build, so I edit `/boot/armbianEnv.txt` to add these lines : overlays=spi-spidev param_spidev_spi_bus=0 But after rebooting, I'm unable to access to the board anymore (No IP address is assigned to the board by the DHCP server). What's wrong ? Is there any additionnal steps ? FYI, I also tried to enable SPI using armbian-config tool but it doesn't work neither. As this tool doesn't even specify the `param_spidev_spi_bus` parameters which is required according to the overlay README.

Hi, I have tried multiple Rock Pi 4+ (Plus) boards, all of them run regular Debian well, so the hardware should be good. But when I tried Armbian, the 2 USB 3.0 ports were not working with logitech USB dongle or Samsung USB drives (which did work in regular Debian), I searched and found maybe they were in OTG mode and needed to be in HOST mode. I tried armbian-config then System -> Hardware, then enabled: dwc3-0-host rockpi4cplus-usb-host After reboot, the bottom USB 3.0 port would start working, yet the top one still wouldn't work. Otherwise, Armbian was the most user-friendly, fast and stable…

Hi, I've downloaded the latest two images from the links mentioned https://disk.yandex.ru/d/-zSW21XKN0pfIA/ArmbianTV/20230103-edge But none of them boot from SD on my M3 box. The only one booting is the image from this link https://redirect.armbian.com/station-m3/Bullseye_legacy_xfce But this makes the cooling fan on the M3 to always spin at full speed and it's not usable because of this (it's really noisy). How can I make the other images boot? Tried both Etcher and USBimager. Please help. Thanks.

On my Odroid M1 which used to run kernel 6.6.63 / armbian 24.11.3 noble from NVME, an update to kernel 6.12.9 arrived this morning. Afterwards the machine failed to detect an external USB disk. I'm new to SBC and tinkering with Rock 4C+ (plus) board and appreciate some support and guidance for blueooth setup. Installed Armbian 23.11.1 Bookworm CLI build. Enabled BT package from Armbian config utility as well tried installing bluez package from CLI using apt command afterwards. Started bluetooth service but seems not working. Command sequence I used: sudo apt install bluez sudo service bluetooth start sudo service bluetooth status (output says Loaded & Active). 'hcitool scan' command however returns message "Device is not available: No such device". When I installed Radxa's official Debian 11 des…

Hi there ... Not sure if anyone has an idea here, but I have the following topic: I have a helios64, equipped with 3 2.5" disk drives, running Debian 10 with Kernel 5.10.43. Usually the system runs stable ... even for days (24/7). But every now and then the disks "fail" - which means, during normal operation suddenly the disk turn of, linux reports "sata link down" ... and the disks are off. As if they were removed. If I reboot I usually here only some "klicks" ... I assume the disks try to spin up, but fail due to not enough power (?). To recover from that situation, I usually disconnect power (incl. the internal UPS) ... try a few times, and …

This is just a few hints how I persuaded mine helios64 to run stable with armbian 24.11 and linux 6.12.1-edge. I have been stressing it several days now and haven't encountered any issue/crash/kernel oopsie. 1) created custom device tree with higher cpu voltage: big cores up to 1800Mhz@1.3V small cores up to 1400Mhz@1.15V also the clock-latency-ns was bumped from 40000 to 50000 2) set up the cpufrequtils ser…

Hi, I have one silly problem developing a FBTFT device driver for SSD1322 display : https://github.com/MarkoBursic/fbtft---SSD1322/blob/master/fb_ssd1322.c The initialisation starts OK, all GPIOs (DC, RESET, CS) follows as they should, since the data is sent through a function write_reg. For example : write_reg(par, 0xA0, 0x14, 0x11); It asserts DC low, then sends 0xA0, then asserts DC high and sends 0x14 and 0x11. Within every sent character (8bit bata) the CS toggles. The problem becomes when I want to send video data, I guess a function write_vmem is called. But here the entire tx buffer is filled and then streamed. for (y =…

Hi, I have major issues with my helios64 / ZFS setup - maybe anyone can give me a good hint. The three encrypted disks are bundled into a raidz1 zpool "archive" using zfs. Basically this setup works pretty good, but with rather high disc usage, e.g. during a scrub, the whole pool degrades due to read / crc errors. Hi all, Something to share for those who use the USB-C serial console from another Linux host. Install and use 'tio' to connect to the serial console instead of minicom. This supports both 1500k baud and also can be easily used inside GNU screen (minicom gets a meta key conflict per default; CTRL-A is default meta key for both GNU screen and minicom). Minicom resulted in regular errors posted in syslog by the ftdi_sio kernel module. Did not run any strace to find out what syscall is causing it, but in short, tio appears to not treat the tty as a modem: no errors are popping up in syslog. Hopefully the serial consoles will remain up now. One caveat: I did not fin…

Hi!, I am playing around with customizing my boot script (to install later my custom distro), and I am fighting with the Recovery. I took a long time to understand I have to press the recovery button during a "long time", then release it very quickly to get the UMS mode and not falling into the Maskrom mode. Indeed, when U-Boot detects the recovery button keypress, it proposes UMS, then very shortly after the Maskrom mode. Is it possible to configure U-Boot to wait longer on the UMS mode, let's say 5 seconds, and after that delay switch to Maskrom mode as latest failover? I have just put my Helios64 into operation. I have 5 HDD with 10TB each. Dear all, I am highly interested in the Helios64 and registered for the next batch. Here are a few questions, I hope that your guys can answer. The OS is Embedded Debian I assume. Questions are quite simple: 1) Hard drive numbering on startup Under Debian, the hard drives in a RAID array are renumbered on each startup by random: /dev/sda, /dev/sdb, etc ... This means that if drive /dev/sdb fails ... it is not necessarily the second hard drive in the bay. I already lost a RAID server extracting the wrong disc in an array. Then I migrated to a Synology NAS and notices that this problem had been fixed as dis…

As I reported here (https://github.com/armbian/build/issues/1230), I'm seeing frequent reboots and Kernel Panics on a RK3399 board while running ElasticSearch, a kinda heavy application that runs on Java. TL;DR: How to make HDMI screen with custom resolution work? Including boot log/boot splash screen. How to configure auto use of/auto switch to newly connected display? Means moving tty/X Session to connected display like it works on e.g. Ubuntu desktop. Why HDMI screens with non standard resolution works well on kernel v5.x but stop working on v6.x ones? Where are HDMI related I2C interfaces in Armbian? Full version: In theory host system (SBC, laptop, PC) should detect new HDMI device connection, load EDID data from screen and use it to configure video output (resolution, timings etc). In practice it works well for Ubuntu deskto…

I am hoping that the community can enlighten me on how the Armbian development process works. I just purchased a Rock 64 board to use for a NextCloud box at home. I am seeing that Armbian seems to be the "best" OS solution for this. I also see that the Armbian release for Rock64 is still in "testing" phase. I would really prefer to run a "stable" release for this application. So my question is how does Armbian for Rock64 move from testing to stable. What is the process, what still needs to be done? I am not a developer or linux expert by any means. I am wondering how the process works so the I can see if I might be able to assist in any way. …

As topics title, did anyone manage to get the Raspberry Pi Touch Screen (DSI) work with the Rock Pi 4B running Armbian? Should it be working out of the box like with the TinkerBoard? Note that in my setup the display works with the Radxa Debian 9 image. Thanks guys

I'm trying to install wiringpi by following the instruction given here https://github.com/Pavelectric/WiringPi_M4. Most of the steps that I followed worked fine but when I do the very last command below, I get a following error, I googled how to deal with this kind of error, and some people tell that 'ContextualZipFile' in archive_util.py doesn't have to be installed so I just need to comment that out. Although, I couldn't find '/usr/local/lib/python3.6/dist-packages/setuptools-33.1.1-py3.6.egg/setuptools/archive_util.py', I did that comment out solution to the all files below, which I got by doing find-command-research Now I d…

I am attempting to set up rock-5b-plus to use as a Desktop device, with OBS Studio for livestreaming. My ultimate objective is that I wish to plug an HDMI signal (from a camera) into the HDMI input (`hdmiin`) and use this as a "Video Capture Device" for livestreaming from the camera. Steps I have taken so far: 1. Written this to the microSD card: `Armbian_25.2.2_Rock-5b-plus_bookworm_vendor_6.1.99_cinnamon-backported-mesa_desktop.img.xz` downloaded via [this link](https://dl.armbian.com/rock-5b-plus/Bookworm_vendor_cinnamon-backported-mesa) available [here](https://www.armbian.com/rock-5b-plus/). I opted for this one as it appeared to include …

I am observing huge difference in samba speed (both ways to/from PC on Gigabit Ethernet) with Rock Pi 4B. Earlier I had Debian and Ubuntu provided by Radxa and recently speed has gone from 115 MB/s to ~12 MB/s. I moved to Armbian which is currently available for download. Before any updates I had 115 MB/s transfer speed. When I updated to Armbian 20.08.11 Focal with Linux 5.8.15-rockchip64 the speed has go down to ~15 MB/s. The bigger change that happened was kernel upgrade. I exclude problems like: PSU (it is over enough), home network (nothing has changed) and SSD speed (checked - 330 MB/s). Has anyone else also observed limited speed rec…

My Helios64 is "far away" and I am afraid to change network configuration, because if I miss something I could lose connectivity to the box. I would like to attach COM-to-IP adapter so that I always had serial console available, but... what actually do I need? "Normal" com-to-ip adapter provides COM port. Helios64 has COM-in-USB. So...? How to convert Helios'es serial console to anything accessible via LAN?
