I know this driver should be part of the recent kernel releases (and definitely avail for 5.10) but I am not sure how/why/where this driver would be in the armbian release. I also did install the firmware files but I don't see the module in the /usr/lib/module section. Any suggestions to build or enable this driver? Thanks

Hi there I'm using Ubuntu 24.04 (Noble) KDE Neon image from may 26, 2025. After download this image and installing it, Wayland was working fine, not problems at all. Then, after a system upgrade, if i choose Wayland from session manager, the system freezes and i can't boot with Wayland, only X11... Before the update, the system was smooth, now it's really laggy....Like i said, i'm using Desktop image with Armbian Linux v6.12 KDE Neon (Ubuntu 24.04) There's something wrong with the update Anyone knows why is this happening, and any turnaround to use Wayland again?

Hello! I would like to know if it is possible to use the microUSB-Connector for connecting a USB device (a 7-port USB hub in my case)? My Tinkerboard is powered through the GPIO pins, so i don't use the microUSB for power input. Is it even possible from the hardware architecture of the board? Do i need some extra kernel packages and/or USB OTG to make it work? Thanks in advance, aElmecker

I recently bought an orange pi plus and am using the armbian 6.12 server (https://dl.armbian.com/orangepi5-plus/Noble_current_server) I'm wanting to setup hardware acceleration for jellyfin but having trouble with the right steps. I'm using jellyfin inside docker on the orange pi inside armbian. I've found various tutorials but it seems like some of them reference things that no longer exist (like panfork seems to no longer be needed for latest mesa if I'm understanding correctly?), so wanting to see what I need to do to set this up. So it seems like I need to disable panthor and use mali instead, but I can't find in the armbian config menu the opt…

I have Rockchip 3288 board. As per the link: http://opensource.rock-chips.com/wiki_Graphics I checked the log at /var/log/Xorg.0.log and found glamor initialization failed. Apart from these when i run glxinfo, it shows It means direct rendering is enabled. But when i run glxgears it consumed almost 18% CPU( So i think glxgear is not able to use GPU and performing all tasks at CPU). Hello! I’m trying to get a RockPi S connected by a slow ethernet connection with 10mbps (half or full duplex) but it doesn’t seem to work. If I test with a 100mbps connection, everything works fine and as expected. Using 10mbps, it seems to look fine, e.g. ethtool shows a link with 10mpbs, advertised modes look fine but the RockPi S doesn’t even retrieve an IP via DHCP. If configuring a static IP, no ping to any address beside the own IP address is possible. I’m using latest debian-based armbian 23.8.1 stable and performed apt-get update & upgrade. I prepared (last weekend? - don't remember anymore) a first step towards a merge of rk3399 (currently nanopi boards) with rockchip64 (more or less all the rest) so that both can be covered fully under one boardfamily (rockchip64). Patches are adjusted and dts support for nanopis in ayufans kernel is done as well. https://github.com/chwe17/build/tree/rk3399merge I would happily give it into 'someone others' hands cause time in the next month might be really rare. Basically it needs testing on the boards which got newly merged into rockchip64 (don't own any nanopi *4 board so I can't test it). And probably a small helper script to adjust …

Hi, The RK3588 supports frequencies as low as 408MHz, but in armbian the minimum is 1008MHz, which makes the cpu run hotter and draw more power even when idle, compared with the OPI ubuntu version. These are the available frequencies: $ cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpufreq/policy0/scaling_available_frequencies 1008000 1200000 1416000 1608000 1800000 $ cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpufreq/policy6/scaling_available_frequencies 1200000 1416000 1608000 1800000 2016000 2208000 2400000 I want to add the missing frequencies, I tried to look in the armbian repo for dts files that contain these frequencies, but I couldn't find anything. Hi all, I am trying to recover after a failed NVMe install. I have a working install on an SDCard, but I think my board no longer boots to SDCard, since I flashed the bootloader via armbian-install. I am not sure if my NVMe install is good or not, and I can't currently reflash it. So I think my best bet is to wipe the SPI, which I hope means the board will go back to booting from SDCard. That's question 1 - is that actually a valid solution? If I wipe the SPI will I be able to again boot to SDCard? I am able to get the board into Maskrom mode, and I can see it using the Windows tool. However, I believe that I …

Hello, I am trying out the latest Armbian image on the Renegade board and after several hours i still do not the analog audio to work. Only the HDMI output is found and used. With the Ubuntu images provided by Firefly, the analog audio works fine, so we can exclude that it may be a problem with the hardware. I have seen in this forums such descriptions for other boards with the 3328 CPU, but from my understanding do that solutions not fit for the Renegade. May somebody provide me a hint, how to activate the analog output? Here you can find the Armbianmonitor output: http://ix.io/1vHd Here you can find inform…

The OPI5 has an onboard RTC. On the back of the board near the RTC chip there are two pcb "test points". One says RTC1, the other says GRD1, I would assume a CR2032 could be connected to those points to maintain RTC function. I don't dare do anything till I get a solid answer. Can anyone give me any feedback as to options.

I can do a shutdown -h now, count to three and power it back up and all is well, but if I do a shutdown -r now it will go down, start back up, all the way to the login prompt but then barfs a long Oops message. God please... don't make me start over !

I have been pulling my hair out trying to get the acceleration performance (smooth 4K video playback in mpv / chromium) in Armbian (any of the MESA/VPU marked releases) that I am getting from the FriendlyElec distributions. In my naive mind, I thought the MESA/VPU version would get me there, but mpv stutters on 4K videos. I suspect this is because Armbian avoids the proprietary drives. A long time ago, Armbian Ubuntu versions were able to be 'amended' with the Amazingfate/liujianfeng1994 repository, but I have not been able to make that work in a while. Could someone point me to a guide that allows me to get similar performance with Armbian as I am getting with Frien…

Greetings, I recently had a request about testing the I2S and SPDIF output of MiQi devices and after some fiddling on this board, it seems that the Rockchip I2S + Simple-Audio ALSA driver just output nothing on the I2S TX/RX pins, at least. So was anyone able to output sound directly through the I2S GPIO pins on any RK3288 device ? Tinkerboard devices seems to use that setup and it seems to be working, but I'd like to know if that's working through the soldered Jack or the GPIO.

Hi guys, sorry, on with my second issue with the Asus Tinker Board and installing a DS3231 Real Time Clock module. Hi guys, I created another device tree overlay that I needed, to enable two user leds on GPIO. Specifically GPIO0_B7 and GPIO0_C0, which is pins 27 and 28 on the header. Posting it here in case someone needs it, like I did with with the SPIdev overlay too. Here it is: rk3308-user-leds.dts What I needed this for is ethernet port LEDs, since the original connector does not include them. To get standard ethernet LED behavior on these newly defined LEDs, you can do this (you need su access): modprobe ledtrig-netdev echo "netdev" > /sys/class/leds/rock-s0\:orange\:user1/trigger echo "netdev" > /sys/class/leds/rock-s0\:green\:user2/trigger e…

Hey everyone, I'm starting to lose my mind here. I've got an Orange Pi 5 which works great with a micro SD card. Now I got myself a nvme ssd and all I want to do is move my system from the sd card to the ssd. I've created an image of the sd card on my PC using "dd" and then wrote it on the ssd using dd again. It seemed to work fine, the only issue seems to be, that the UUID of the partitions on the ssd were the same as on the sd card, that's why I changed the UUID of the root partition on the ssd using "tune2fs -U random /dev/nvme0n1p2". I booted up the Pi with my sd card again and used armbian-config to flash mtdblock0 (boo…

I finally found an official source code on the download page of OrangePI that has a version of wiring pi with support for the Orange PI 5 - unfortunately that code is not on the github of orangepi yet. What would be the best way to get this code and the gpio tool into armbian? Build a PPA and package for that one? I don't mind forking their repo and adding the mods but I'm not familiar with generating debian packages.

None of the images from https://www.armbian.com/rockpi-s/ work (neither minimal nor cli). I tried writing minimal image onto SD NAND and tried booting both cli and minimal from SD card. I tried 2 different SD cards too. Board was connected through UART0 to PC and while I get output when I use rkdeveloptool, there is no output when trying to boot normally. However, latest image from https://github.com/radxa/rock-pi-s-images-released/releases works (rockpis_debian_buster_server_arm64_20210924_0412-gpt.img) does boot if I write it to SD NAND or SD card. I have V1.3 with RK3308 and 1GB SD NAND.

The NPU on the ODROID-M1 can execute ordinary quantized TFLite models through the standard TFLite delegate mechanism, on a fully open stack: the `accel/rocket` kernel driver (with local fixes) plus the Mesa Teflon delegate. An application loads a regular .tflite file — no model-conversion step, no proprietary runtime. Image classification (mobilenet v1/v2, resnet18) and object detection (yolov8n) work today, and other convolutional networks take the same path. This complements the vendor-stack setup from [the DKMS topic](https://forum.armbian.com/topic/58036-odroid-m1-npu-fully-working-on-armbian-618x/), on the same board. What runs, measured against CPU-only TFLite …

Hello, I usually use the Next version of the image for the tinkerboard. I would like to use the nightly version. But the nightly version does not automatically log on to the user I created at the beginning in contradiction to the other version. How do I reactivate automatic login in nightly build ? Thanks

Hi, I've come from Joshua's 24.04 Server build. I was concerned that the support was dropping off as he's having a well deserved break. I've installed the latest Server build from here. https://dl.armbian.com/orangepi5-plus/Noble_current_server-kisak Works fine, have moved it to EMMC and removed the SD card. I use a USB power meter to see how much juice it uses. I noticed this build uses about 20 to 25% more when idle or under load compared to Josh's 6.1 kernel build. I am suspecting 6.12 has enabled more hardware in the OPi5+ and this is the reason. Is there a way to disable some of the HW to low…

Hello everyone, and Happy New Year. One question about Orange Pi 5 Plus: i have installed a wifi module (supported than what the official Orange documentation reports) AX210NGW in my Orange Pi 5 Plus main board with Operating System: Armbian 23.11.1 bookworm and Kernel: Linux 5.10.160-legacy-rk35xx. I copied in /lib/firmware the firmware of the module (https://intel.ly/3S0QZrA). if from the terminal I run: lspci I see the device but in "Armbian-config" in hardware section don't see the wifi module, and I can't activate the module to surf the Internet or the local network in wifi. The question is: am I forgetting any steps to setup the wifi module cor…

Hi. I've got a ROC-RK3399-PC SBC with a JMB585 PCIe to SATA extension card. Unfortunately PCIe always doesn't work on boot, whether it is in u-boot or kernel, with `PCIe link training gen1 timeout` error. Just as the following log: However, after I manually run these commands, PCIe seems working. ```modprobe -r pcie_rockchip_host modprobe pcie_rockchip_host ``` Kernel log: Does anyone have any idea about what is going on? Thanks in advance.

(Asus, armbian) Are there any plans for fixing it? I'm asking it, because I would like to use my tinker board as a headless 24/7 home cloud. Thank you!

Hi Basically the subj sums it up. I got the AP6275P wireless module with Armbian, and BT is not functional. `hcitool dev` doesn't show the device in its output. Neither does `rfkill`. It works with the Ubuntu image published by Orange Pi though, so it doesn't look like a hardware issue. I'm using Armbian 23.5 Jammy Gnome with the 5.10.160 kernel. Happy to provide any additional data.

Hi gals & guys, Came over to this forum from the OPI forums which seem.. rather low on real-user activity. I am quite new to the SBC Arm64 platform and have many questions. I am an experienced sysadmin on x86/amd64 and still figuring out the differences. I bought a Orange Pi 5 Plus 32G of RAM and i am running of the 256G emmc. I am able to run different OS's (OPI-Ubuntu, OPI-debian, plain Ubuntu and Armbian). As i intend to use the board as server i didn't look into Android and the like.. My plan is running (OMV) from the emmc and attaching ZFS storage by means of a nvme-to-sata adapter and providing iscsi storage from there to my home-lab with my VM's …

Since I re-installed 23.8 Jammy with the extra ppa:liujianfeng1994 repo - I haven't been able to play any videos on my OPI5. All players I tried seem to have kernel issues decoding any h264. I've narrowed down the error message to a 4Gb memory limit with the selected version of the drivers but I was wondering if anyone had luck with playback. I had better luck with Jammy 23.4 and I regret upgrading. What is the recommendation? Should I try nightly with 6.6.0-rc1 kernel? I assume this one doesn't need panfork drivers anymore or are there other recommendations for h264 playback?

It would be nice to be able to use hardware crypto for VPNs. The rockchip's hardware crypto acceleration has apparently been supported since Kernel 4.5. I noticed that the CONFIG_CRYPTO_DEV_ROCKCHIP option hadn't been compiled into the standard Armbian builds, so I built a custom kernel. Having the rk_crypto module loaded gives me additional ciphers in /proc/crypto as expected. Without the module loaded (either blacklisted with my build, or with the normal Armbian kernel), my tunnel (IKEv2/IPSEC w Strongswan) works fine. But with the module installed, no traffic passes. Sometimes I see kernel errors in syslog. A couple of tim…

Let's make a topic dedicated to the latest issues with the latest Linux Release Candidate provided on the Linus Torvalds git repository. So, on the 4.13.0-rc6, I got a crash on boot on my MiQi devices due to some changes in the logging functions used by the STMMAC Ethernet driver. I reverted some of their changes by just commenting the new logging function. I'll try to get in touch with the person who wrote the commit that generated this issue, as he tends to roam in the #linux-rockchip IRC channel. Meanwhile, here's the patch : https://github.com/Miouyouyou/RockMyy/blob/master/patches/kernel/v4.13/0012-net-stmmac-Reverting-a-part-of-Use-…

For a few weeks I've been using the latest official release from May 26, 2025, running just fine from my NVME drive. But then I turned it on and at the screen where you get the Amrbian grey/red logo in the middle of the screen and the spinning circle, it went no further. The spinning circle would either stop rotating or disappear after a minute or so. I can SSH into the device. But when I use remote desktop from a Windows PC, the full and functioning desktop is there. It's just not on my TV screen any more. I've done the usual HDMI cable testing and powering off the TV completely, but no change. The fact that the…

Does anybody know how one could correct multichannel HDMI audio mapping in the current-rockchip64 build or kernel? When I run speaker-test -c6 -D plughw:0,0 on (kernel) 6.1.115-vendor-rk35xx + (dtb) dtb-6.1.115-vendor-rk35xx Everything is mapped correctly and I hear audio from all the correct channels. When I run the same command on (kernel) 6.18.12-current-rockchip64 + (dtb) dtb-6.18.12-current-rockchip64 I get no audio on center and rear right channels (others are working). Is this a mistake or error in the DTB file of dtb-6.18.12-current-rockchip64 (rk3588s-nanopi-r6s.dtb) ? How can we correct this?

The NanoPi R3S contains a hardware clock (HYM8563) with the possibility to connect a backup battery. However, the current kernel adds this clock as an additional one (RTC1). I tried to create a device tree overlay, but it does not work. As I understand it, this is because the default Rockchip clock is not included in the device tree. So, if I understand correctly, the only way to make the HYM8563 the default clock is to build the kernel with this option enabled. Please consider changing the default kernel options to make the HYM8563 the default RTC. If there’s another way to make the HYM8563 the default RTC, please advise.

I've compiled mainline kernel 6.6 which runs well on my OrangePi/RK3399. The only problem left is getting H.264 decoding working. Unfortunately, when I query /dev/video1 which is the node created by the hantro-vpu driver, only MPEG2 and VP8 are shown as supported codecs for decoding. No H.264, even though I've read many places that the mainline hantro driver supports H.264. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there something else I need to do to get this working?

Hello, I have 2 questions. 1. How long does the support for the tinkerboard takes. Because I'm using the Board as Server and i don't need much CPU Power but I don't like to buy every 2-4 years a new board because the support ended. The reason of this question is, the odroid c1, there is no stretch image for this board. 2. Is there a good howto, how to build a kernel on a thinkerboard with own config? Reason for this question is, I have installed the latest armbian stretch server image on my tinker board and the kernel has no ebtables support. Second Reason ist question 1, build a own Kernel and update to Debian 10,11, ...., n.

I am using the image: Armbian_22.11.4_Orangepi5_jammy_legacy_5.10.110_xfce_desktop.img vi hello.c ------------------------------------------------- #include <linux/init.h> #include <linux/module.h> static int hello_init(void) { printk("Hello Orange Pi -- init\n"); return 0; } static void hello_exit(void) { printk("Hello Orange Pi -- exit\n"); return; } module_init(hello_init); module_exit(hello_exit); MODULE_LICENSE("GPL"); ------------------------------…

I just recently bought a sim5320a GSM/GPS cape for my Tinkerboard S and it requires the use of ttyS3; however, by default Armbian uses this port for console... so I'm unable to use it w/ the cape. What do I need to do to disable the console on this port to free it up? EDIT: Nvm... after reading more, this isn't my issue (although I did find the answer above, which is to edit the /boot/armbianEnv.txt file). It's (the GSM cape) connected to the GPIO, and I need to enable the UART serial on here. Posted below is the product I'm using, and the last picture shows the GPIO PIN mappings that it uses. https://vietnamese.alibaba.com/product-detail/sim5320a-5-9v-2a-3g-gsm-g…

U need ixgbe to run my Intel X550T 10G Ethernet NIC. That module seems to be a part of linux-modules-$(uname -r) package. My kernel version is 5.10.60-rockchip64. However, I do not have linux-modules-5.10.60-rockchip64 available via apt. # apt install linux-modules-$(uname -r) Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... As https://www.armbian.com/tinkerboard/ has a quite fresh 4.14 Linux kernel (in Armbian Stretch Next Desktop 5.50) I am trying to use that instead of the standard TinkerOS 2.0.7 with a 4.4.103 kernel. However, Armbian is configured to provide only spidev2.0, while TinkerOS can have spidev0.0, spidev0.1, spidev2.0 and spidev2.1 all enabled at the same time as long as you disable UART4 which shares GPIO header pins with SPI0. In the TinkerOS case, there is a config tool which edits a small and straightforward text file in /boot/ containing lines such as "intf:spi0=on" or "intf:uart4=off". The corresponding Armbian file seems to be /boot/armbianEnv.txt - possibly…

Hi, I went to see if there were any updates to the OPi5+ images and saw the OPi5 had updates. I clicked on the link on the main download page. https://www.armbian.com/orangepi-5/ https://redirect.armbian.com/orangepi5-plus/archive/ I've come back and now it has desktop images but no server images.

On an orangepi 5 this image failed to post. Armbian_25.8.2_Orangepi5_noble_vendor_6.1.115.img.xz worked just fine via balena etcher and booting from a nvme.

Just got my Tinker Board S in... used Etcher to flash the following image to the eMMC: Armbian Stretch mainline kernel 4.14.y It won't boot. That same image flashed to the SD card boots just fine. I've tried using the armbian-config to install it to the eMMC that way; however, all I get are "There are no targets. Please check your drives." What the heck am I doin' wrong? New to the entire SBC realm, and got this instead of the Pi. I don't want a desktop distro installed... just a simple distro w/ bash. Any help would be appreciated... spent the last 6 hours trying to figure this out. This isn't the 'tinkering' I had in mind when I got this thing.…

Before writing I searched the forum a bit but couldn't find any recent posts about it. I have an OPI5 board and on NVME I would like to install armbian. I downloaded the image to micro sd and it boots fine. At this point I don't know what to do because I had to waste a lot of time on it some time ago and I don't remember the steps. With the armbian-config utility is it possible to clone the armbian release I am using on the micro sd? I remember that this wasn't possible some time ago. I would like to know specifically the steps to take and whether it is advisable to delete any old partitions on nvme. Thank you

Hello all, Is there any chance to run mainline kernel? Support for rk3588 seems to be starting with 6.2 and 6.3 (mainline has dts for rock 5b).

Someone asked in a different thread how I got Dolphin to run so thought I'd start a thread so not to pollute the other one. Basically it wasn't that hard especially if youve done some git'hubbing before. I think I followed the 'Ubuntu' instructions here. Make sure you get the dependencies and do all the steps correctly. It should build without problems if you do. (remember you have a lot of cores on Opi5 so can use 'make -j6' or even higher) https://github.com/dolphin-emu/dolphin/wiki/Building-for-Linux You then want to set a config flag to make Dolphin use GLES instead of big brother OpenGL. (you probably wa…

EDIT: I am using the Armbian 23.5.5 Orange Pi 5 Plus Jammy Legacy 5.10.160 Gnome Desktop image Let me preface this with I am a Linux noob and this is one step below black magic voodoo to me. For some reason my Orange Pi 5 Plus USB 3.0 ports are no longer functioning. I setup my OPi at my testing station and everything was working fine (except I couldn't get my WiFi dongle to work but that's a different post) After I turned off my Orange Pi 5 Plus, disconnected it and set it back up where it was going to be staged now the USB 3.0 ports no longer function. Putting in the "lsusb" command shows all my ports, including the non-f…
