I have seen the uefi port for Rock 5B, which uses rk3588. seed this the opi5 use rk3588s which may lack some IOs, so I think maybe it can work on opi5 without modification. (actually i don't know how to modify to fit for it, need to learn) here i show you the result, I burn the uefi image (complied from balbes150's repo: https://github.com/150balbes/edk2_uefi ) to a tf card, then burn the image from balbes150's post to a usb portable ssd. then i change the dtb. The efi and grub can boot form tf card and then load the image from my usb ssd. successfully enter the Armbian and seems no big issues. But this can only work on the 2 type-A usb3.0, i try on usb2.…

Hello, I'm trying to setup a hotspot on a tinkerboard S running bullseye. Following the procedure from https://docs.armbian.com/User-Guide_Advanced-Features/ at the point where it requires: 2. Copy /etc/network/interfaces.hostapd to /etc/network/interfaces i realize the file interfaces.hostapd is missing, even though hostapd is installed hostapd is already the newest version (3:2.10-6~armbian22.02.3+1) I manually created the file with the following content even though I'm not sure if that's correct (as referred in one post on the forum): auto lo br0 iface lo inet loopback all…

Hi. I'm running Armbian 22.05.3 Focal with Linux 5.10.60-rockchip on an Asus Tinker board. Can someone tell me how to enable SPI? I've seen instructions that say you should be able to run armbian-config and go to System > Hardware > spi-spidev, however the Hardware menu does not exist for me.

Hi ChecMate, Just FYI I am seeing the same thing on an Orange Pi 4 LTS that I am setting up, what worked for me was to unplug the keyboard to let the boot start, then plug it in later. I tried 2 keyboards and both USB 2 & 3 ports, and the problem is consistent, if I boot with the kb plugged in the HDMI remains dead. Franck

Hello, I've installed the 22.11 version with the 5.15 kernel on the microSD card. I've a rockpro64 with the SSD adapter and a WD black 250GB nvme. The system doesn't recognizes this drive. I've tested the latest stable ayufan image (kernel 4.4) and it recognises it perfectly. Should I downgrade the kernel to the 4.4 branch? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,

So I have downloaded several versions of Armbian for Tinkerboard using BullsEye and Yammy. Not one creates a working Access Point. The Bullseye version ends with a message that the hotspot has been activated but nothing appears. The yammy version fails with a message there is no usable driver for hostapd. It appears there are a lot of issues with this function. Why not leave it out or document which boards the feature doesn't support. It would save a lot of time going down rabbit holes.

I'm using a kernel built from sources as there's another bug which the github sources resolve. The bundled kernel with the OS image does not kernel panic. (However this image only has around a 5% chance of mounting any nvme drive) Output: Dump from 'armbianmonitor -U' https://tmpfiles.org/dl/314994/dump.txt.tar (The Armbian self-hosted system seems to be a bit moody when it wants to work)

Hi, I have installed "Armbian_22.08.7_Tinkerboard_bullseye_current_5.15.74_minimal.img.xz" on a Tinkerboard (no S, with RK3288). I have tried to set the output of some header pins without success. I used both "sysfs" and "gpiod" (which uses char-devices). Test procedure, e.g. for pin 36 (gpio223): # echo "223" > /sys/class/gpio/export # cat /sys/class/gpio/gpio223/direction in # cat /sys/class/gpio/gpio223/value 0 # echo "out" > /sys/class/gpio/gpio223/direction # cat /sys/class/gpio/gpio223/direction out # echo "1" > /sys/class/gpio/gpio223/value # cat /sys/class/gpio/gpio223/value 0 # echo "0" > /sys/class/gpio/gpio223/value # ca…

Hi, I'm someone who's suffering with an unreliable pcie nvme upon booting. Apparently there was a patch for this issue. Unfortunately the whole time I've owned this device - doing a kernel update via armbian-config will just stop your device from booting and even outputting to the display. Is there a repo just with the precompiled kernels in .deb form?

Dear Armbian community, Yesterday morning, after apt upgrade my Rockpro64 not boot (the white and red led stayed lit). After some tries I managed to get a boot again but I now have a "init not found" error, as you can see on the screenshot. What have been done so far : - Install an Ubuntu as "debug" platform - Follow the recovery steps from Armbian website - Put on eMMC storage a 5.15.63 by copying the files from Armbian - Check if UUID was consistent between partition, boot config, ... ==> this is the case - Made a fsck : no errors found ==> I would like to try this : https://askubuntu.com/questions/…

Hello! I don't really have a question, but just wanted to report I tried out the generic UEFI arm64 image on a Pinebook Pro, and it installed emmc and booted just fine! This was possible because I had installed Tow-Boot to the SPI flash, which supports UEFI booting. I had tried using the Pinebook Pro build of armbian, which worked fine when booting off the sdcard, but installing it to the emmc wasn't working. I'm using Tow-Boot 2021.10 then arbmian image Armbian_22.08.7_Uefi-arm64_jammy_current_5.15.74 . There's a few rough edges in the grub menu, but it boots the OS off the emmc just fine. Should the…

Hi all, I have Armbian 22.08.6 Jammy with Linux 5.15.74-rockchip with Desktop running on an "Asus Tinker Board Rev. 1.2". My Problem is that I get no stable HDMI Connection. Picture is appearing and disappearing every few seconds. Changing Cable, Monitors, Resolution and Refreshrate doesn’t change the problem. After Research in the forum I saw that I should provide „armbianmonitor -u“ here: https://paste.armbian.com/oriqiwilah I would be able to compile a custom image, but I don‘t know where to start bugfixing because I am no HDMI Expert. Maybe it has something to do with a Sync-Problem like described …

Hello everyone, due to a project I'm working with the Friendly Elec Nanopi R4S board for which I've to use the i2c bus to read data from a sensor. Unfortunately I've not been able to access it, since the system does not recognize it. I tried with different configurations using the /boot/armbianEnv.txt file with no results, however the i2c ports are enabled. To rule out functionality problems in the sensor, I connected it to other boards (e.g. nanopi Neo3 using Armbian) without problems. Do you have any idea what could be the cause of this problem? Thanks!

Hi everyone. I’ve been facing some issues with my RockPro64 lately, running on a dedicated version of Ambian for this sbc. Earlier, I was using a USB Bluetooth module with it for playing audio on my speakers (via Logitech Bluetooth adapter), and it worked perfectly fine. I wanted to save some USB ports so I decided to replace the module with a ROCKPro64 1*1 Dual Band WIFI 802.11 AC/BLUETOOTH 5.0 MODULE. But ever since I’ve done that, the audio quality is choppy and inconsistent. Receiver and transmitter are located closely, so I don’t think it’s a signal issue. It seems like a hardware or a software issue, but I’m not sure what could it be. I’d appreciate any help with …

Hello, I have set kernel.panic=180 in /etc/sysctl.conf to reboot on a kernel panic. Before, the system would keep running/hanging and I could read the errors if I turned on a attached display. Now the result is that the tinkerboard switches off. My expected result would be a reboot. Do I have to set something else? Or do I need to use watchdog? I am using the original tinkerboard with debian bullseye, kernel 5.15.48-rockchip.

Hello all, First of all, thanks for the Armbian project, love it so far, but had a slight problem with a kernel upgrade. To be honest, I forgot how I installed Armbian since it was a while ago, but I've been using this for a year or so. I saw that unattended-upgrades installed a new kernel and I should reboot for this change. I was a bit apprehensive, but went ahead and rebooted. The NanoPI R4S didn't come back up. I attached a serial console to debug. The console showed that the initramfs was read successfully from the SD card, but then tried to mount to root filesystem by UUID and failed (it kept saying it tried to run /boot/local-block and event…

I've been (trying) to move the Tinker and MiQi u-boots to 2020.07, however if I use any of the following: A MiQi, A Tinker S an image for a Tinker S an image for a Tinker on a Tinker S I get stuck in the initramfs busybox with it telling me the filesystem is toast. The only 2020.07 combo I've gotten to boot is the Tinker with the non-eMMC supporting u-boot. As for clues, I haven't found any, the u-boot source code is of course very well organized for debugging purposes . If anyone has an idea about what could be going on with this let me know, I'm shelving the effort to think about other stuff.

Hello, using the image provided at https://www.armbian.com/rockpro64/ the board works when booted via uSD card but not via MMC. There appears to be no device mode USB drivers installed. I pulled the kernel sources with `armbian-config` and compiled them myself making sure to select dual-mode support for the DWC2 and DWC3 drivers. The kernel boots after install, but I still see nothing in /sys/class/udc and am unable to see any dwc2/3 drivers (save dwc2_pci and some dwc3 i3c drivers). I'm able to load libcomposite, the configfs driver, but that does not pull in a USB device mode driver. I'm unable to attach armbian monitor status right now but will update my po…

Hello, I've used the Tinkerboard S (Rockchip RK3288) with the Armbian images available for download (https://www.armbian.com/tinkerboard/). Currently, the /dev/ttyS4 serial port is not available unless CONFIG_SERIAL_8250_NR_UARTS=5 when the Linux kernel is built since the serial ports are populated in /dev starting with /dev/ttyS0 and the last serial port to be populated is /dev/ttyS4. By default, CONFIG_SERIAL_8250_NR_UARTS=4. Some additional kernel settings are required to ensure that all of the available serial ports can be utilized. Issue: The node /proc/device-tree/compatible contains the board name roc-rk3328-cc, but the dtb in /boot/dtb/rockchip/ is named rk3288-roc-cc. Armbian-config queries this node when running "System settings / Dtc" and then looks for roc-rk3288-cc.dtb, but cant find it.

Hello, I installed Armbian Hirsute xfce bleeding edge kernel 5.13.y on my RockPro64 4GB and updated it right after that. After restarting after the update, ethernet doesn't work anymore. (Wifi connecting icon is shown and no connection to ethernet) dsmesg says that the link is up. armbianmonitor: https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/9Yz8SJVrzS/ apt/history.log: https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/GQbfZp3Xch/ For apt history only the last two operations seem relevant. I assume the previous ones are made by whoever/whatever created the image.

Hi, I'm not sure if it is a bug as by board seems to work correctly, however I thought I should post it. In the latest version (5.10.60-rockchip64) I'm getting a few errors in dmesg: debugfs: Directory 'power-domain' with parent 'pm_genpd' already present! I hadn't seen these errors in the previous version (5.10.43) Logs are here: http://ix.io/3yY5 Regards,

https://justpaste.it/5jszu I tried with I2C connected and disconnected between screen and tinkerboard. No change. (See below, looks like i2c-3/3-0045/tinker_mcu_bl is missing ). I checked around that area and tinker_mcu_bl is missing, but folder 3-0045 exists with lots of files in there. (bottom of the post) From dmesg I also see that i2c had a failure (ret = -6). (see next paste) Looking forward I see that -6 is no device found on i2c bus (assuming that's correct?). Does anyone know if brightness control works? Hello, yesterday i got a powerloss , and my Asus tinkerboard got shutdown. i think i had some updates installed but not yet rebooted the Tinkerboard never restarted again. i first suspected a crashed Emmc disk but i did the following tests and got to the conclusion that Armbian for Tinkerboard is currently broken - restored a past complete image to either SD or Emmc : boots ok. - shutdown then unplug/replug power : OK - update with apt-get update + apt-get upgrade => reboot OK, but shutdown, and then never restart, bricked. shutdown down either with desktop or command line tested also with a second Tinkerbo…

I have a brand new Tinker Board S with the latest Armbian buster installed. I have hostapd set up for the board to be a WiFi access point. I can see the SSID on my Windows and mobile devices but when I connect, hostapd tells me an error code 8 and that the device is disassociated. Hi, New build, Armbian_21.05.0-trunk_Tinkerboard_focal_current_5.10.22_xfce_desktop.img. The build finished ok and the image after flashing is working just fine, but.. unfortunately there is no /boot/dtb/overlay folder and of course none and its .dtbo entries are found anywere. Am I missing something ? Is the latest build system broken for Tinkerboard ? Do I need to specify something during the build process menu ? /PS Just checked with the Armbian ready-made provided image for Tinkerboard, the Armbian_21.02.1_Tinkerboard_focal_current_5.10.12_desktop.img.xz and Armbian_21.02.3_Tinkerboard_…

On a fresh Buster Minimal install, what is required to get armbian-config fully functional? apt install armbian-config 'works' but some functions don't, for instance it fails setting the locale as dpkg-reconfigure errors as usr/lib/armbian-config/jobs.sh line 839 dpkg-reconfigure : command not found EDIT: In armbian-config I selected 'full firmware package' and rebooted, time zone settings now work. Was odd that the welcome page said run armbian-config (beta) but it had to be installed manually via apt.

Hello! First, and foremost, how issue looks like: https://imgur.com/a/ZrPUi9t Initially I noticed this issue with Dell UP3017 (2560x1600) on Libre Computer ROC-RK3399-PC (post). However later I noticed this on fresh Armbian installations on NanoPC-T4 too (post). Later on I found that old Armbian installations on NanoPC-T4 is unaffected, probably because of older uboot (something from last Armbian 5.xx days) that already flashed on eMMC. Yesterday I compared a couple of old Armbian images (initially that was posted here) Armbian_20.05.7_Nanopct4_focal_current_5.4.49.img - issue is not reproducible, Armbian_20.08.2_Nanopct4_focal_current_5.8.6.img …

Can anyone provide a link to a currently available and confirmed working USB to 3.3V TTL converter that works at 1500000 bps? The PL2303 I have technically supports up to 3 Mbps but only in certain discrete steps, and 1500000 is not one of those steps. The MCP2221A only supports up to 460800 bps. The FTDI FT232 data sheet claims support up to 3 Mbps but is unclear about whether arbitrary baud rates are supported, or only discrete steps like the PL2303. Searching for a compatible USB-TTL cable to work with the RK3399 has been futile so far. A link to a confirmed working cable would be much appreciated. Confirmed working cables only. No theoretical devices, please.

Hello, I own a RockPro64 and I'm using Armbian Legacy Buster 4.4.213-rockchip64. Everything mostly works, although I've had a pretty annoying issue. Reboot just doesn't work. Every time I do a 'sudo reboot' (or any equivalent for that matter, as for example 'sudo shutdown -r now') it doesn't work. Although it apparently reboots, the TV monitor to which my box it's connected via HDMI lose connection and all, nothing actually happens. Both the red and the white leds of the RP64 turn on and keep on all time (instead of just one of them blinking, as expected) and then it will work only if I poweroff and on again, either by unplugging the power cable or…

Alright, the biggest issue with the ASUS Tinkerboard being "resolved", I'm starting to take care of the VPU driver, in order to use it with mainline kernels. The hardware video encoding/decoding facilities are the real meat of the RK3288, and recent Rockchip boards. The VPU driver aims to use these facilities in order to provide the smooth video playback experience that every Netflix/Hulu addict expects when buying such boards. Which mean, once this part dealt with, you might be able to enjoy your Multimedia oriented distributions/softwares on your Rockchip boards (MiQi, Tinkerboard and maybe Pine64 too !) So the driver is already …

Hi, I have two rockpro64 boards. Hello, I have been experimenting with the bluetooth audio on my tinkerboard. The issue is both present on the last rockchip-next (4.1x I think) and the rockchip-current 5.8.18 kernel. I am using bluez and bluealsa. The problem is specific to the onboard bluetooth, using an external bluetooth dongle (a cheap and old CSR Bluetooth 3.0 dongle from China) works as expected, I can even send audio to multiple devices simultaneously (quality is very bad, but thats a bandwidth problem). As long as I just connect one bluetooth audio device everything is fine. I can have multiple paired, but disconnected, devices and as long as I connect and p…

Hi! I just booted Armbian_20.08_Rockpro64_focal_current_5.7.15.img via sdcard , but HDMI output seems to stop after "Starting Kernel". I was able to install an ebay 18650 UPS on my ROC-RK3328-CC, and found out in the instructions that it also has an RTC Module. I would like to utilize that feature, if possible, but I am not entirely sure how to go about it. I have used the armbian-config to enable i2c7, and... that's pretty much as far as I got. Viewing the instructions under "How to setup and check the RTC module:" https://wiki.52pi.com/index.php/UPS_(With_RTC_%26_Coulometer)_For_Raspberry_Pi_SKU:_EP-0118 The instructions call to use modprobe i2c-bcm2835 however, it doesn't appear that my copy of Armbian 20.08.7 Buster has this driver. This is a last-ditch effort to figure out how we can continue to build our project on top of Armbian. Goal We are building an appliance on the RockPro64 board, with eMMC and an PCIe SSD attached, using a custom-built Armbian Ubuntu 18.04 image with extensive post-configuration (packages, appliacations, overlayroot...) within the boot process. The image is then processed by Mender to create a true dual-root filesystem over-the-air update system with fallback (we invested a lot of resources to extend Mender for Armbian and RockPro64). This build process works perfectly and is exactly what we need. Issue The reliability, however, is bad. In …

Hi, since i have a Asus tinkerboard incoming i was wondering if anyone knows if the "generic" arm64 distro will work this board. Its based of the rockchip RK3288 SoC The support pages states that the board supports debian, but since i dont need a UI ect (im going to use it headless) i dont need the board to load a ui into memory and wanted to use a normal build instead of the TinkerOS Please note, my knowledge of the inner workings of *nix is quite limited, so if my question is to generic or imprecise i apologize.

HI all, first of all, I found thi sissue adopting a new board to the CSC tree, done by @balbes150. As it seems to be a problem of RK3288 in general, I post here, in case please move the topic to the approriate place. I have a JLD076 board, and started adjusting the DTS to the schematic. According to the schematic, and the TRM of RK3289, there is a maximum number of 160 GPIOs. This is also the number I get from my schematics. So I expected th get suitable number of pins from gpioinfo (bank:number 0:19, 1:4, 2:18, 3:28, 4:26, 5:12, 6:19, 7:24, 8:10). Instead, I get listed (0:24, 1...7:32, 8:16). I tried now to set ngpios for the &…

My goal is to get OMV5 running on my RockPro64 (previously running OMV4 on an Ayufan image). I followed a guide to install a system on my Rockpro64 but something happened where I had to reinstall it. However, when I reflashed the ubuntu server image and tried re-installing the system it got an error pertaining to one of my disk volumes. So I'm wondering how to re-format and remount and redo the LVM volume my SSD. Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated!

I have a Rockpro64 single board computer that I am trying to access remotely via an eMMC flashed Ubuntu iso image from here: https://www.armbian.com/rockpro64/, but keep getting the error message below. I was able to access the IP remotely from various laptops fine before by SSHing from the terminal, but after I failed at installing the program I wanted to install properly, I re-flashed the eMMC and have been getting this error ever since when accessing from other laptops (client-side) - I can SSH from the server-side fine with no issue FWIW. @ WARNING: REMOTE HOST IDENTIFICATION HAS CHANGED! @ @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@ IT IS POSSIBL…

In order to review the Tinker Board boot logs via serial console, I set up armbianEnv.txt to get the logs. But Armbian didn't output anything. Can anyone tell me what is wrong? As long as I reviewed boot.cmd, the serial port was assigned to /dev/ttyS2. So I used UART2 GPIO pins (GP7C7 for TX, GP7C6 for RX) to interact. (snip) if test "${console}" = "serial" || test "${console}" = "both"; then setenv consoleargs "console=ttyS2,115200n8 ${consoleargs}"; fi (snip) The barudrate is 115200. Of course, I re-checked my connection between USB-UART serial cable and UART2 GPIO pins (USB-UART RX to GP7C7TX, USB-UART TX to GP7C6 RX). Any infor…
