Hi! I installed this image on my Khadas Edge 2 Armbian 24.5.5 Noble Gnome MESA / VPU I am wondering if it is possible to use Wacom tablet. I have seen Ubuntu builds from Khadas support it. Another question is about 1440p monitor using hdmi port on Edge 2, newer Ubuntu development builds seem to have this option, what about Amrbian?

Hello, Long time Gentoo and Raspberry Pi user, but I am interested in a more powerful Arm device. Will buy an Orange Pi 5 plus device if it meets my requirements. I am interested about dual or multiple boot: let's say Linux and Android or, at least multiple Linux distro - let's say Armbian and Gentoo. It is possible ? On Raspberry Pi 4 with a larger boot partition I switch content of /boot from boot/debian /boot/gentoo, have multiple partition on SATA SSD connected via USB edit root parameter in /boot/cmdline.txt and that way I choose which distro to boot. On Orange PI 5 (Plus) I read that SPI chip have to be flashed to choose the boot device fro…

May I know how do you enable Panrost support Ubuntu 24.04 on Khadas Edge2? By Khadas SDK, I have built image which failed with followings: 1. Enabled Panfrost in defconfig. 2. Add kisak-mesa ppa, apt update and upgrade. 3. Replace mali_csffw.bin by Armbian mali firmware. After these, the gnome-settings shows the GPU is software vendoring. Hope to get your help~ Thanks!

Hello! I had an issue upgrading my khadas edge2 to the linux-image-edge-rockchip-rk3588 package (24.8.0-trunk.597) on the edge/rolling release image I had installed. It looks like issues with building the initramfs files, specifically trying to symlink on top of a file that already exists and/or copying the /bin/osk-sdl binary. The following seems to have allowed me to use apt install -f to get the kernel and initramfs files to be built and installed successfully. Probably the change in the symlink code was unnecessary, but I did both and got a bootable system out of it, so it's a bit late for me to test. I made the following changes to /usr/share/…

Hi everyone and thank you in advance for your support! Long story short my system is in Read only mode after a reboot and I don't know what caused it. Some useful info before the reboot: I've been trying to install a RAID1 configuration so at certain point I did sudo update-initramfs -u I have manually updated and upgraded (only busybox was upgraded) with sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade If you need any other info let me know! EDIT: I found out that I'm able to manually mount the root partition, but the problem persist after each reboot. I then added the follong to /boot/armbianEnv.txt extraargs=fsck.…

Armbian 24.5.1. I don't have a serial console setup so I can't tell if it's actually starting to boot or not, but it never gets to the point where a video signal is sent to HDMI. It *does* send a CEC on signal to the TV, which does turn on, and power-cycling the Pi then begins a normal boot process. Pi also boots normally headless. Problem noted on one Insignia model and on a Vizio TV, works as expected on another Insignia model, on a Hisense and on an LG. Issue began after updating the kernel from legacy.

Hi, Like the topic says, both NICs are underperforming, they are connected to a Gb switch which I use and benched with other machines, neither iperf nor iperf3 (threaded and not threaded) go higher than 700Mbps. Another server plugged on the same switch reaches Gb steadily. I applied CPU affinity so both IRQ's are handled by the A76 cores but it makes no difference. OS: Armbian 24.5.5 Bookworm, uname -a: Linux geonosis 6.1.75-vendor-rk35xx #1 SMP Fri Jul 19 14:49:03 UTC 2024 aarch64 GNU/Linux There's not much running on the board for now.

hello guys, i ve been lately working with nanopi-r5s which comes with a default openwrt os installed on EMMC. but i prefer working on the armbian images. that is why i installed debian 12 bookworm from https://www.armbian.com/nanopi-r5s/ anyway, r5s refuses to boot from sd card for no matter what. until i corrupted the emmc by mistake(i started flashing a default image to emmc but then took the power off before it is done). so now it boots from sd card. but now when m trying to install the image from sd card to emmc through armbian-install. it only shows option 5 and 6. as if it can not detect the emmc. so what m trying to figure o…

Hi all, Just want to share this issue i came across from my recently purchased OPI5+ 32GB version. I noticed it freezes when transferring .img from micro SD card to eMMC or NVMe drives via the command line. Now the img file are armbian OS and no its not the img file issue. at times I can get it to around 70seconds and it will freeze. hard reboot is required, unable to complete the transfer. I have also tried to reduce the bs=10 speed but still the same. Now i have also got the 16GB version and this works fine with no issues... Good chance there is something wrong with this latest hardware..…

I tested some stable armbian images. I want to use the Rock 5C as server, so no desktop is needed. Ubuntu is prefered. First I flashed `Armbian_24.5.1_Rock-5c_noble_vendor_6.1.43.img.xz` wich doesn't work. Log from first boot is attached at the bottom. Second I flashed `Armbian_24.5.1_Rock-5c_noble_edge_6.8.10.img.xz` wich is working well. SSH comes up as usual. Would be nice to use the vendor kernel (6.1.43) instead of the bleeding edge (6.8.10) one, because it is not reccommend and not all features are working. I OCR a screenshot from first boot with `Armbian_24.5.1_Rock-5c_noble_vendor_6.1.43.img.xz` Welcome to Armbian 24.5.1 noble!…

hai, im planning to upgrade my local media server to use an external hard drive attached using hard drive docking on USB 3.0 what I'm confused about is. what is the best FileSystem format for my hard drive? I'm not planning to unmount and use the hard drive to another PC (for example: windows PC) So I'm ready to format it with FileSystem that fully optimizes on Linux (I'm using armbian noble) so ext4 or xfs? I hear xfs is better for copying large file sizes. my casual use is downloading movies, and watching it on jellyfin. or maybe I'm just using ext4?

After upgrading to kernel 6.10.1-edge-rockchip-rk3588 I started getting: fdee0000.hdmi_receiver: hdmirx_wait_lock_and_get_timing: HDMI pull out, return on the console. This repeats constantly and quite rapidly, and just doesn't stop. I can silence it by plugging a monitor into HDMI port, but... I prefer to run my board headless (serial + net). Does anybody know any other way to get rid of this? This "feature" was absent with the -rc7 kernel.

In fact all versions since kernel 5.10.?? are broken and stop at u-boot. Better the Uboot shall dive down and never ever come up to bother us. Finally I managed to install bullseye by using a buster image, deactivtion kernel upgrade and removed the armbian.list from /etc/apt/ Then I changed source list from buster to bullseye apt update apt upgrade -y apt full-upgrade -y thats it. And i is really a shame to fool the community by uploading untested software.

I bought a Pinebook Pro two weeks ago. It came with Manjaro KDE preinstalled on EMMC. I wanted to try out Armbian, so I downloaded the Bookworm XFCE image from May 27th. In order to get the SD booted, I first flashed Tow-Boot for Pinebook Pro (pine64-pinebookPro-2021.10-005.tar.xz) from github Tow-Boot to the SPI. Then during boot after pressing ESC the menu lets you select the SD card for boot. The first boot to Armbian worked well. I could set up user, timezone and everything. I slowly convinced myself that I wanted a PineBook Pro, some time after the first production run. But then COVID, parts shortages, etc. happened and they were not available again until about mid-2022. But when they were, I decided to snap one up. And since then I have not been able to get it to boot Armbian. It came from the factory with Manjaro, which for me being a Debian guy, might as well be useless. So the PBP sat around collecting dust. Since then I have tried a few times to get it to work. I read many forum posts, tried some things. I won't document all that in detail. In this post, I will continue from where I left off her…

HI!! I need help. What is the correct way to install armbian? I have an odroid m1, with a nvme 2 TB. I installed armbian and also stored my files on the same disk. Ubuntu Noble had some early day issues with default key ring not being stored properly and or synced to the logged in user and users getting popup prompts about the default keyring locked. Hi guys We're trying to run SPI with Linuxcnc. But sometimes SPI latency with other hardware (FPGA) gets big. The operating system is armbian and I could install a real-time kernel on it so I know it shouldn't be real-time issue with kernel. We've noticed that it might be the spidev driver issue that is not real-time. And now we're gonna communicate with low-level SPI. Bit I dont know how? can any one please help me?

Dear Armbian Community, I hope this message finds you well. I am encountering an issue with PWM on my Orange PI 5 Plus running Armbian. Despite my attempts, I am unable to utilize PWM via GPIO pins. Upon navigating to /sys/class/pwm, I can only see the pin designated for controlling the fan. The PWM pins on the GPIO are not visible. I have successfully controlled GPIO pins using WiringPi and Go Lang Periph libraries; however, when attempting to use PWM via GPIO, I encounter the following error: I have also checked the “hardware setup” screen in armbian-config, where I can see two hardware components listed, but PWMs are not among them. …

When connected to some PC monitors, the image is larger than the physical screen: about 20 pixels at the top and bottom sides, and 50 pixels at the right and left sides are missing. This happens as soon as the board boots (without logo), the start of lines are truncated, and this also happens on text ttys (Ctrl + Alt + F1..6). I guess it's about a boot env variable, but I could not find it.

Hello, After several days of debug I put the finger on a very strange issue using integrated Ethernet. I use my Rockpro64 mostly as a Samba and DNS server. In my network context I implement 2 vlans as vlan interfaces (eth0.10 and eth0.20). Each of these interfaces needs to use a specific mac address that differs from physical eth0 mac address (it is an important point). If I use only the physical mac my router is not be able to route correctly between vlans (probably an ivl/svl issue). Under this context I first noticed that when I bring down eth0.20 although using vlan 10 (so eth0.10) connectivity is lost. I then wr…

[🔨] ERROR: modpost: "cma_release" [drivers/media/common/videobuf2/videobuf2-cma-sg.ko] undefined! [🔨] ERROR: modpost: "cma_alloc" [drivers/media/common/videobuf2/videobuf2-cma-sg.ko] undefined! Reading documentation to buld armbian, it only mention docker. I have been (last year) generating kernel on the machine itself (the orange pi 5 plus), this is not supported? thanks.

I finally got wifi working on a fresh install of 24.5.1. Video acceleration is working perfectly in Chromium but I am not having any luck playing h264 mp4 videos with hardware acceleration in vlc or mpv. Is this possible or am I missing something? CPU is around ~30% with chromium playing 4k youtube but if I play one of my mp4 files it's a solid 130%

Hi, I've installed Armbian_24.5.1_Rock-5b_bookworm_vendor_6.1.43_cinnamon_desktop.img on my Rock 5b and when I have tried to do apt update get error message with armbian.com url. (timeout error) I did all necessary and now it work fine. But for dev info, there is some problem probably with all Stable images.

I installed latest vendor image and because of the wifi issues I switched to the edge kernel. I messed up my fstab, couldn't connect with ssh, so I plugged it to my monitor and a keyboard, but there was no video. Eventually, I fixed it by booting vendor image from my sd card, but I got curious. I know, that vendor image just works, so I flashed edge image to my sd card to see what's wrong. The monitor recognizes the presence of the board, but it's just a black screen. I can ssh to the board, so the image definitely booted, but there's just no video. Here's the log from my original installation. I kept 6.8 kernel because the video is not important to me.

Hi I installed a nvme SSD to my rockpro64 (with a generic PCIe adapter card). Somehow it only uses a x1 link instead of x4. I tried both the 6.8.10 and 6.1.43 releases from CI pipeline and none of these has the ap6275p wifi option in the armbian-config tool. There was a previous post that mentioned that the module got merged for the new kernels but is there an ETA to have this one in the CI releases? I'm curious to try vlc but haven't been able to install that one yet with the new releases.

playing around with armbian-config after switiching to vendor kernel - missing "toogle hardware configuration" Left is on (previous legacy vendor) kernel with "24.5.1 and right is legacy kernel with "24.2.1"" Just curious if anyone know why that is? Perhaps I should have taken other steps when switching to vendor kernel(I have rebooted and confirmed it is running vendor kernel prior to screenshot)

Can you help me with the contents of the file name? I understand edge, vendor, but then there are other suffixes that are not clear to me: are gnome-oibaf_desktop the same "kernel release" as the xfce_desktop or minimal? Or there are patches that are applied only to a specific version? Thanks!

Sorry, don't have the Armbianmonitor info handy but wanted to get this started... I'm trying to bring up a Libre Renegade RK3328-CC for use as a media center. Armbian's performance is absolutely wonderful compared to the other builds I've tried on this box. Unfortunately, I want the HDMI output going to a Samsung Frame TV, and resolution negotiation fails badly -- I get obvious rasters with black between them, nowhere near the 4K that this TV model is capable of and not even a smooth conversion (Note that the eyes here suggests that the black line is occurring every third raster or something like that...) What information I have gathered so far: …

I've compiled mainline kernel 6.6 which runs well on my OrangePi/RK3399. The only problem left is getting H.264 decoding working. Unfortunately, when I query /dev/video1 which is the node created by the hantro-vpu driver, only MPEG2 and VP8 are shown as supported codecs for decoding. No H.264, even though I've read many places that the mainline hantro driver supports H.264. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there something else I need to do to get this working?

Version 20230401 with kernel 6.2 (pancsf-midstream). With HDMI USB support. https://disk.yandex.ru/d/W8pOOhizVjq91A To enable HW acceleration, install the mesa package with the forced overwrite option or an archive to enable acceleration for wayland. To enable wayland acceleration, you need to replace the files in the /usr/lib/aarch64-linux-gnu directory with the contents of the archive (with file replacement). After that, acceleration will work with wayland. X11 and wayland acceleration works the same way on Debian Sid (the images are the same as Ubuntu). After starting the system and initial configuration, replace the files from the archive…

I've noticed that some system images will start the OrangePi with 4:2:2 output on HDMI instead of 4:4:4. This causes artifacts, especially when there's white text on a red background. What's the interface or method to change this? Does this have to be done via U-Boot or can it be done in userspace?

Hey everyone, I'm starting to lose my mind here. I've got an Orange Pi 5 which works great with a micro SD card. Now I got myself a nvme ssd and all I want to do is move my system from the sd card to the ssd. I've created an image of the sd card on my PC using "dd" and then wrote it on the ssd using dd again. It seemed to work fine, the only issue seems to be, that the UUID of the partitions on the ssd were the same as on the sd card, that's why I changed the UUID of the root partition on the ssd using "tune2fs -U random /dev/nvme0n1p2". I booted up the Pi with my sd card again and used armbian-config to flash mtdblock0 (boo…

In March 2023 I bought an OPI5 and immediately went for armbian, but I had problems and reported it in the link in this POST. in 2024: I bought the SD cards and other power supply directly from the manufacturers to see if the OPI5 works. I downloaded and burned the latest stable version of Bookworm and the results were the same, errors and everything froze. Before throwing OPI5 in the trash, I downloaded "nightly builds (unstable)" and installed it on an nvme and... it works without problems, I've had no problems for 13 days. In conclusion, the SD card reader is damaged and I can only use the NVME. HELP: I ask you for help with the command (.…

Hey everyone. New to Armbian and Orange Pi, but no stranger to everything I ever try do do being a major hassle! So here's the deal. Installed Armbian jammy 5.1 for orange pi plus. Working nicely. Good evening, last week they changed the electric meter in my building, but in order to do so they cut the power, and my Tinkerboard (the first model, the one issued back in 2017, Asus first's SBC), that I use as my "Save for later, and never look at it again" network folder, suffered. It continued to reboot from some kernel panic, which I forgot to take note; but since it hadn't been upgraded to jammy, I took the opportunity to do it. Pluging in the uSD card (with the newly released jammy version, just downloaded here), power, and all (including the ethernet cord!!), first boot I have to create my user (which, for some reasons refuses to let me put my usual fr3d tag…

I haven't tried Jammy with 6.1.43 but the kernel doesn't say rc anymore so curious of the status. How does this build compare in terms of feature and performance with 5.10? Is all the video decoding supported? The RK3588 Kernel support page says that hdmi audio is not supported - is that really the case? Is gnome/wayland supported? I see that only KDE is listed there.

Hi all, reporting a regression in new Armbian 24.2.1 kernel version. New kernel is causing Orange Pi 4 LPS not to boot most of the time, when it boots, then there is no network. Kernel hangs with oops errors on the screen, and all debugging stuff. Sorry that I did not caught any of them on my phone, but it would have been incomplete anyway. How to reproduce: Install any 24.2.1 based system on Orange Pi 4 LTS Upon first boot, you will have issues. No Ethernet network. Second boot will most likely not succeed no matter what you do and system will brick permanently, by not booting at all (no video output), or booting and then showing kernel crash. …

I've found information on how to use your own IR remote controller from this site: https://forum.odroid.com/viewtopic.php?f=215&t=44671 In short: 1. Enable logging from the IR kernel module, enter in a terminal: sudo -i echo 1 > /sys/module/rockchip_pwm_remotectl/parameters/code_print dmesg -w 2. Check if your remote is supported by pressing the keys on your remote. It should give you info like: [ 3485.342354] USERCODE=0xfb04 [ 3485.369309] RMC_GETDATA=fd 3. Download the overlay file below and edit the usercode and the code for each key. So for like with the key above it'll be 0xfd 4. Place the header f…
