I'm using an Orange Pi 5 Plus 16GB SBC, with Armbian image (https://dl.armbian.com/orangepi5-plus/Bookworm_current_cinnamon-backported-mesa) which uses Kernel 6.12. I am trying to get a BME280 I2C sensor attached to the following pins of the 40 pins; 1 (3.3v), 3 (GPIO0C0), 5 (GPIO0B7), and 6 (GND). The BME280 sensor has the VIN wired to 3.3v (pin 1), SDA wired to SDA (pin 3), SCL wired to SCL (pin 5), and GND to GND (pin 6). The device should use address 0x76, but isn't listed under the four I2C buses found in /dev. This configuration worked fine when using the stock OrangePi 5 Plus Debian Bookworm image, but does not have I2C2 listed as a device under /dev un…

Before writing I searched the forum a bit but couldn't find any recent posts about it. I have an OPI5 board and on NVME I would like to install armbian. I downloaded the image to micro sd and it boots fine. At this point I don't know what to do because I had to waste a lot of time on it some time ago and I don't remember the steps. With the armbian-config utility is it possible to clone the armbian release I am using on the micro sd? I remember that this wasn't possible some time ago. I would like to know specifically the steps to take and whether it is advisable to delete any old partitions on nvme. Thank you

This is a new release of the uefi firmware for Orange Pi 5 Plus which now has mainline kernel support. My thought was that this new release would support armbian uefi builds but so far no love. Does anyone know of an armbian build that would work with this??? The is the one of the tag lines from readme.md found @ https://github.com/edk2-porting/edk2-rk3588 "It delivers a PC-like standardized boot experience, supporting multiple operating systems, such as Windows, Linux, BSD and VMware ESXi."

I have updated my board to run on Armbian 24.11.1 with KDE. I am mainly using it to connect to my remote computer using RustDesk and I am notice that the fps I get is lower than when I was on 24.8.1. There I got around 25-30fps, but on the new version I can get max around 15. Are there any gpu drivers I can try or tests I should run in order to see how well the gpu performs? output from armbianmonitor - https://paste.next.armbian.com/recigaluza

Hey folks, im trying to compile a realtime kernel for mt orange pi 5. I plan to use it for djing. A fully preemptive kernel delivers better performance for this, as less xruns appear. I am following the official dev instructions and am using the docker method, Compiling only the kernel, not the entire armbian OS. I copied a realtime patch (actually I tried several sub versions of 5.10) from the kernel.org realtime project site into the userpatches directory (I looked up the correct orange pi 5 subfolder name but forgot it rn) but compiling throws me some errors. Has anyone succeeded in creating a kernel like this for the orange pi 5 and/or co…

Not an issue nor a bug nor a trouble abour my Orange pi or Armbian. I wanted to build my "own" armbian for educational purpose. I mean to raise my knowledge. I followed this page. https://docs.armbian.com/Developer-Guide_Build-Switches/ however since it's done. I'm looking for about how to make the *.img file or if I can use *.deb located in my ~/build/output/debs I just miss these informations to finish and trying my failure compilation. I say failure compilation because "first time" is always a fail By the way, if I posted in the wrong place. Delete my post and please accept my apologies.

I have an Armbian installation on the NVMe drive and I'm trying to switch back to boot from SD card. In `armbian-config` I messed up the boot settings by leaving the root fs type unchanged, (SD card is in fat32 but NVMe partition is ext4). Now the board boots into initramfs prompt. Here's what I've already tried based on search and ChatGPT: Mount the NVMe partition to `/mnt` then chroot to it, this did work but the `/boot` partition was not mounted inside of the chroot so I can't fix boot env. I also tried `switch_root` but it's not available in the initramfs prompt. Update `/proc/cmdline` to change the root fs back to the Armbian partition…

I am trying to install Ambian on to the BananaPi-M7 to eMMC using option 6. there is no option for NVME / M2 SSD. I had a failed install as the uSDCard image was 256GB larger than the eMMC, so it balked. I tried a 128GB uSDCard, followed by a 64GB uSDCard, but got the same error each time even on the 64GB one. I seem to have two partitions on the eMMC, mmcblk0boot0, and mmcblk0boot2 now,. I am not sure if they were on the boards eMMC originally or what the boot sequence for the board is If the Masked ROM tries to boot the uSDCard if present and if that fails it boots the eMMC ? Do I clear mmcblk0 and try again with the 64GB uSDcard ? Or is mm…

I have built an Orange Pi 5 Plus systems. I have a 256gb eMMC card which seems to run as speed would expect. Yet when I test the NVMe drive I get slow speeds compared to what is suggested to get. I followed the provided instructions to install Arbmbian on Orange Pi 5 Plus 16GB, so I downloaded the official Ubuntu image from the Orange Pi website, and when it booted, it sudo apt update sudo apt install mtd-utils sudo flash_eraseall /dev/mtd0 The flash operation was finished successfully. Then I turned off, loaded Armbian Ubuntu 24.04 (Noble) (Desktop images with Armbian Linux v6.12) on SD and started the machine. I have a monitor connected to the machine, but there is no output. My router doesn't show any new network device, so I suppose that Armbian doesn't load. It's exactly the same situation when I tried to install Armbian without /dev/mtd0 erasin…

I have Orange Pi 5 Plus that I plan to install in a remote location. To boot Orange Pi, I need to press the physical Power On button. How I can setup the machine to boot automatically once the power is supplied? There is nobody on the remote side to press this button. Or maybe there are other options to boot remotely like WakeOnLAN? Where it can be configured? In orangepi-config?

Hello, I'm using a rock pi e ver 3.0 with armbian 24.8.3: I would like to drive the state of a gpio, that of pin 7 or gpio 100: I'm not an expert and I tried to use the GPIOD libraries for python but I couldn't do anything because I get errors; from the command line through the gpiodetect command it seems to me that the chipset is recognized and I see some lines and the status of the gpios but I cannot change the status of these. Am I going in the right direction? Are there other methods to drive these GPIOs? Thank you in advance.

Hello everyone, Thank you for stopping buy and reading this thread. I have Orange Pi 4 LTS with the latest Armbian Jammy image (Armbian_23.8.1_Orangepi4-lts_jammy_current_6.1.50). But I also want to mention that I've tried the same thing on the "official" Ubuntu image from OrangePi website and it was the same. I need to decode and show RTSP video stream, h264 encoded. Hello OPI5 users. Running Joshua Riek's Ubuntu distro, I keep getting stability issues. Perhaps because I keep using Xorg. Perhaps because hardware acceleration is buggy. In the past I used super stable Armbian OPI5 distro's without hardware acceleration. Infact I still use Armbian on another RK3588 box, I don't think it has EVER crashed, running docker, Mosquito, HomeAssistant, and a buch of other things. Now that my Orange Pi 5 gets a slightly more serious use as webserver, I really like to get rid of the unpredictable Xorg crashes, and gladly would sacrifice HW acceleration for stability. My situation is this: Using JR Ubuntu Because I …

I run a audio loop code on a Raspberry pi 4/5 and Orange Pi 5. The latency of audio loop is 0.2 seconds on Raspberry pi but on orange pi it takes 1.2 seconds. For orange pi, i am facing this problem with different Operating systems as well apart from armbian. I've used Ubuntu, Orange Pi OS, Armbian. All have got this problem. The code I have attached. Since the issue is faced in multiple Operating System I strongly feel this has to do with the driver level softwares or directly related optimization from Rockchip. I have created a micro desktop case. It's an open design that is still in the creation phase. The shell is 3d printed, the sides are acrylic, and the opi5 mount panel can be 3d printed or made from acrylic. I'm looking for feedback with design suggestions/needs. This is the first real opi5 micro tower design currently for OPI5. My cad drawing of the OPI5 mainboard is 99.9% accurate, so if someone wants to use that as a footprint for other projects by all means. https://github.com/berin-aquaquad/orange-pi-5 I am using DesignSpark Mechanical a free cad software that is on par with Fusion360. The shell has been designed as a split body so smaller 3d printers can c…

I want to install jellyfin as a docker container on my Orange pi 5. How can I enable hardware acceleration for it? On the container page (https://hub.docker.com/r/linuxserver/jellyfin) there are instructions for various options, but orange pi 5 is not there of course. I have enabled 3D acceleration as mentioned on the armbian page for orange pi 5.

I have 2 5C Lite boards a 2Gb and 4Gb version, neither have HDMI output with any stock images either from armbian or radxa. Thru desperation I found an Android image that booted and had screen output, so the HDMI works atleast. After stuffing around I found that the u-boot image extracted from the Rock-5D t2(rsdk) and injected into Rock-5C b1(rsdk) Bookworm_kde image boots and has working screen. Longer story short, getting Armbian 24.11 to work... Narrowed it down from replacing the entire u-boot.itb, I can get a working desktop with kernel version 5.10 Bookworm by removing the rng@fe378000 trngvl section (enabled mali400/bifrost driver in ke…

Hopefully this is not a stupid question but I came across Joshua-Riek/ubuntu-rockchip: Ubuntu for Rockchip RK35XX Devices (github.com) when searching for my video playback issues. Does anyone know how this compares with the current armbian release with vendor kernel? Are all the fixes from that release integrated in armbian or does it go the other way?

I have set up Armbian 24.8.4 bookworm on my 32GB Orange Pi 5 Plus. Most everything works as expected out of the box. The second HDMI port doesn't detect the second screen, and the screen displays No Signal. I have tested the cables and monitors to ensure they are functioning. I have also ensured I wasn't plugged into the HDMI input by accident. I was about ready to proclaim it a hardware issue, but on booting the "Official" Orange PiOS Arch image, the dual monitor support worked as expected. I checked the dtb file included with the Arch image, and it has many references to HDMI0 and HDMI1 devices, while the one used by default with the Armbian ima…

Hi, last night a set of updates was installed and I rebooted the Orange Pi 5+ this morning. After the reboot I've seem to have lost the connection to the Orange Pi 5+, it is normally connected without a screen so I access it through SSH and the Open Media Vault web GUI. I've tried to connect it to a screen and then it seems to boot up just fine. Looking around with the screen connected it seems like the network cards aren't detected. My Linux skills are very limited but "sudo lshw -class network" shows nothing. One detail is that my router seems to detect it when it's connected and gives it the normal IP address that I've set in the 192.168.0.x ran…

Hello! Iv'e just done a test run installing Armbian for booting off my new m.2 nvme drive. As 'm planning to have the drives 2nd large partition as my basic home file server I'm wondering if I can as easily re-install the OS if/when I need to update it to a newer one? Because the instructions I followed and that I see around do a very basic cat /dev/mmcblk1 > /dev/nvme0n1 onto the raw un-partitioned nvme. My case will be that I have data on a partition on that drive that needs to stay. Is this going to be an issue or are there ways to re-install Armbian or even other distro on the boot partition? Cheers!

Hello all, I have noticed that whenever I reboot my Orange Pi 5 board, all the 8 cpus slow down to 408 Mhz with no range, as stated by cpufreq-info: I have created a cronjob script in order to bring the frequency back to acceptable range. I don't even know if this is the correct way to solve this, but I am running the following: echo performance | sudo tee /sys/devices/platform/dmc/devfreq/dmc/governor cpufreq-set -c 0 -u 1800000 cpufreq-set -c 4 -u 2260000 cpufreq-set -c 6 -u 2300000 cpufreq-set -c 0 -g schedutil cpufreq-set -c 4 -g schedutil cpufreq-set -c 6 -g schedutil However, even though I set the frequency for processo…

Folks, I've got an Orange pi 5 plus up and running using Armbian, I've used the minimal install and although it's been plain sailing for the main part, no matter what I do I can't work out how to give it a static IP address (dynamic works fine). I've spent an hour trying: armbian-config, - Network | IP | Static and setting it to what I want - it ignores it and when I go back in it's gone back to 127.0.0.1 This page: https://docs.armbian.com/User-Guide_Networking/ Creates the yaml file with my interface abd required address as here: GNU nano 7.2 /etc/netplan/20-static-ip.ya…

Someone asked in a different thread how I got Dolphin to run so thought I'd start a thread so not to pollute the other one. Basically it wasn't that hard especially if youve done some git'hubbing before. I think I followed the 'Ubuntu' instructions here. Make sure you get the dependencies and do all the steps correctly. It should build without problems if you do. (remember you have a lot of cores on Opi5 so can use 'make -j6' or even higher) https://github.com/dolphin-emu/dolphin/wiki/Building-for-Linux You then want to set a config flag to make Dolphin use GLES instead of big brother OpenGL. I have a couple Orange Pi's, and the HDMI is broken. I noticed that many believe that it is Armbian, but it is not. Orange Pi's probably won't be where we want them until 2025. I found a couple notes from development teams, one below and one from September. Both say the same thing: essentially it's in the works: "The RK3588 SoC family integrates the newer Synopsys DesignWare HDMI 2.1 Quad-Pixel (QP) TX controller IP and a HDMI/eDP TX Combo PHY based on a Samsung IP block. Add just the basic support for now, i.e. RGB output up to 4K@60Hz, without audio, CEC or any of the HDMI 2.1 specific features." https://patchwork.kernel.org/project/linux-rockchip/pa…

I just testet all available stable armbian images with radxa zero 3e. when i turn off the machine with shutdown -h 0 or poweroff the system shuts down successfully but the power of the dc dc is not turned off. the 3.3V is still available. i dont know if its only a configuration mistake or a bug. normaly after a kernel shutdown, the driver for rk817 should send i2c package to reset the 817. after that you need a power cycle to recover and restart. https://paste.armbian.com/inibopomew br manuel

Additionally, when I go to armbian-config -> System -> Hardware, no hardware appears on the screen. Could this issue be related to the Armbian image I am using? I’ve already tried the b6 image, but it has a boot problem. I also noticed that the other official Radxa images are marked as pre-release. …

Hi! I am looking into OdroidM1 network performance with kernel 6.6.47-current-rockchip64 ( 24.8.1 ) For some reason network performance is x10 faster (upstream) in bookworm and noble, when compared to jammy. Downstream performance is fine, delivering the same performance in jammy and the other distributions. Since all of them are using the same kernel, I assume that there must be some configuration that jammy is missing, or? Any idea about what could be going on?
