  1. Hi out there! F.Y.I. I've tried a lot of things to customize the kernel for Tinker Board on 32-bits host platform, but finally I gave it up. Instead other messy things, I followed the armbian instructions exactly, and successfully created an Armbian_5.32_Tinkerboard_Debian_jessie_default_4.4.76.img using the comile script on the recommended Ubuntu host. Unfortunately the resulted image does not boot: root@eepc:~# ttysh /dev/ttyUSB0 -s 115200 U-Boot SPL 2017.07-armbian (Jul 18 2017 - 17:40:48) Returning to boot ROM... 2. Hi, I have two rockpro64 boards. One board runs Debian buster with a slightly extended ayufan 5.4.0-rc1 kernel where as the other runs a Armbian (Debian) buster with the current project supplied 5.4.0-rc1 kernel. On the Debian on I have installed the nice ats solution (https://github.com/tuxd3v/ats#install) On the Armbian one the fan is running all the time. I tried to install ats there as well but I failed. Also I found that basically the /sys/devices/platform/pwm-fan/hwmon is not there, only upto pwm-fan I have. Is there some module I need to load or compile into the kernel to get ats working on the Armbian base…

  3. I decided to try the new Armbian 23.02 Jammy Gnome build and after booting with my SD card, the process gets to a point where it presents a prompt orangepi5 login: and whatever I attempt to enter returns as an incorrect login. I can't find any specific documentation which indicates the default login credentials for this build.

Hi guys, I got a SPIdev overlay to work on the rock S0, figured I'd just share it here for the record, since I could have used this info myself (I spent days trying to figure it out since I had no experience with device trees or whatnot). Basically, download the attached .dts file, then run sudo armbian-add-overlay rk3308-spi2-spidev.dts I also edited /boot/armbianEnv.txt and added this line, but I'm unsure if that's actually necessary? param_spidev_spi_bus=2 This worked on Armbian 24.5.1 Noble, creating /dev/spidev2.0. You can verify that it works using this tool: https://github.com/rm-hull/spidev-test The dts file is based on this one…

  7. Hello all, i have a pressing problem requiring urgent help. I am currently conducting my thesis with the Tinker Board and i have the Armbian Ubuntu desktop with the legacy kernel running. I noticed when i try to boot the system, it takes approximately 25 minutes to show the Login request in the CLI and after that, it creates the user account but instead of proceeding to the regular desktop page, it gets stock there and does not proceed. I will please like to know if anyone has an idea of how to solve this issue as i urgently need it to get running fast to run the tests needed for my thesis. Thanks.

  9. Hello! I don't really have a question, but just wanted to report I tried out the generic UEFI arm64 image on a Pinebook Pro, and it installed emmc and booted just fine! This was possible because I had installed Tow-Boot to the SPI flash, which supports UEFI booting. I had tried using the Pinebook Pro build of armbian, which worked fine when booting off the sdcard, but installing it to the emmc wasn't working. I'm using Tow-Boot 2021.10 then arbmian image Armbian_22.08.7_Uefi-arm64_jammy_current_5.15.74 . There's a few rough edges in the grub menu, but it boots the OS off the emmc just fine. Should the…

  13. Hi all Cannot make usable wol on my orange pi 5 plus. Os: Armbian 24.5.1 Bookworm with Linux 6.1.75-vendor-rk35xx WOL tested in magic or unicast settings or all flags enabled (phy, unicast, multicast, broadcast, arp, magic) Test sending wol packets with running tcpdump -i enP3p49s0 '(udp and port 7) or (udp and port 9)' show that orange pi successfully receive wol packets on speeds 1000 or even 10 mbps while powered on. But after sending orange pi to suspend or power off I cannot bring it online via WOL. So I suppose network component outside orange pi is ok and it is something wrong with orange pi. Any ideas?

  16. Hello, using the image provided at https://www.armbian.com/rockpro64/ the board works when booted via uSD card but not via MMC. There appears to be no device mode USB drivers installed. The other is https://forum.armbian.com/topic/12936-how-to-control-fan-on-rockpro64 @deathisunknown Which kernel are you using? 5.3.xxx? 20. Hello, I own a RockPro64 and I'm using Armbian Legacy Buster 4.4.213-rockchip64. Everything mostly works, although I've had a pretty annoying issue. Reboot just doesn't work. Every time I do a 'sudo reboot' (or any equivalent for that matter, as for example 'sudo shutdown -r now') it doesn't work. Although it apparently reboots, the TV monitor to which my box it's connected via HDMI lose connection and all, nothing actually happens. Both the red and the white leds of the RP64 turn on and keep on all time (instead of just one of them blinking, as expected) and then it will work only if I poweroff and on again, either by unplugging the power cable or…

Greetings, I recently had a request about testing the I2S and SPDIF output of MiQi devices and after some fiddling on this board, it seems that the Rockchip I2S + Simple-Audio ALSA driver just output nothing on the I2S TX/RX pins, at least. So was anyone able to output sound directly through the I2S GPIO pins on any RK3288 device ? Tinkerboard devices seems to use that setup and it seems to be working, but I'd like to know if that's working through the soldered Jack or the GPIO.

Using the current Armbian for Tinkerboard and the 4.19 Kernel it does not work any longer, nor does it with the current development Kernel 5.1. Does there have to be any special things to be set to get it working again? On the 4.4 Kernel it was working out of the box. Thanx

I read an article about it being mainlined in 4.17 (http://bbs.t-firefly.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=2312) but I still see people working through issues on this board. I am mainly interested on ethernet and USB3 support. Not interested in video or sound, although others might. Thought this is the place to ask as there is a lot going on but difficult to scrape all the info on the threads. Thanks!

And does anyone know how I can do that? Cheers!

  35. to recap: Tinkerboard (rev 1?) has 2 USB devices (from RK3288's internal ports), one for the Realtek HD audio, and one for the 4 USB ports (Genesys 4-port USB hub). while i have no info for the HD audio, the hub is powered via the 5V lines (noted as V5 pin in the datasheet). my mistake would be not checking if all the 5V power lines are shorted, or it's just connected to the hub. there's an option to NC the pin if using an external regulator (say, the RK808 power management chip?) The LAN is separated to the hub and instead directly connected to the RK3288 At least the datasheet for RK3288 says. no pinouts whatsoever so i think …

  43. Hi all, After a recent update bumped the current kernel to the 6.18 series, the rear 3.5mm jack on my NanoPC-T6 LTS stopped playing any sound. I'm connecting it to an external amplifier that worked fine before the update. What I see on 6.18 (6.18.35-current-rockchip64): The audio card (rt5616) still shows up in aplay -l and playback commands run without errors, but no sound comes out. Volume levels and mute aren't the issue — I checked those. What fixed it: downgrading via armbian-config to linux-image-current-rockchip64=25.11.2 (kernel 6.12.58). With 6.12 the audio works perfectly again. So 6.12 works and 6.18 doesn…

FYI, the /lib/firmware/mediatek directory already existed and did not need to be created. Also in the current Jammy Gnome desktop Armbian, the file that was being loaded, mt7610e.bin, was not there and only the backup file, mt7610u.bin, was there in the /lib/firmware directory. What I d…

  48. I have 23.8.1 Jammy installed with kernel 5.10.160 and I'm getting plenty of kernel errors during any video playback, and these also cause the playback to freeze. From my research, these error messages come from librga - which I assume come from the panfork and rockchip repos but I was wondering if anyone has been able to resolve these errors.

  50. Hi everyone, I was experience some strange things with two similar devices, the first I installed in february this year, mesa v.24.x and EGL 1.4 and it was working fine The other one I installed this week and it turns out that it uses mesa v.25.x and EGL 1.5, although performance was great with most 3D apps (like glmark2) I had poor performance under sway/kitty or the retroarch menu for instance (something like 15 fps). It took me a few days to find a solution so if you have similar issues please try installing mesa with the kisak repository as it fixed my problems sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kisak/kisak-mesa -y sudo apt update sudo apt upg…

  53. EDIT: I tried using ext4 rather than btrfs and.. somehow that solved it? I don't understand how the SSD file system would change how the bootloader is flashed because if properly flashed, the SD card shouldn't work at all, unless something has changed. Hey all, I wanted to move to the newest version of armbian (25.2.1) and for whatever reason neither `apt update && apt upgrade` nor `armbian-upgrade` (as a sanity check) worked so I wiped the SPI flash using `mtdtools` as prescribed in the forum post linked on the support page. 1) Booted from SD, installed Armbian and the bootloader. 2) Shut down, removed SD and turned on. 71. I installed latest vendor image and because of the wifi issues I switched to the edge kernel. I messed up my fstab, couldn't connect with ssh, so I plugged it to my monitor and a keyboard, but there was no video. Eventually, I fixed it by booting vendor image from my sd card, but I got curious. I know, that vendor image just works, so I flashed edge image to my sd card to see what's wrong. The monitor recognizes the presence of the board, but it's just a black screen. I can ssh to the board, so the image definitely booted, but there's just no video. Here's the log from my original installation. I kept 6.8 kernel because the video is not important to me.

I install Armbian on a microSD card. I don't remember what problem I was having, but I had to format the SPI Flash. After that, the Armbian version worked fine. Also, after formatting the SPI Flash, my microphone stopped working on Android (it works on Armbian). Could this be due to formatting the SPI Flash? Thank you.

  79. So I have downloaded several versions of Armbian for Tinkerboard using BullsEye and Yammy. Not one creates a working Access Point. The Bullseye version ends with a message that the hotspot has been activated but nothing appears. The yammy version fails with a message there is no usable driver for hostapd. It appears there are a lot of issues with this function. Why not leave it out or document which boards the feature doesn't support. It would save a lot of time going down rabbit holes.

Bluetooth appeared on my Armbian Ubuntu Jammy setup and I plugged in the dongle. It saw a few of my bluetooth devices. Reason I wanted bluetooth is to use a controller for some games/emulators. 97. Hi all, Since most of Armbian's Rock 5B images are currently bricked (although hopefully not for too much longer now that we've figured out what the root cause is) I've been using the Ubuntu 26.04 image, which works, but doesn't have hardware video decoding and encoding. Since I wanted to use it with RDP, I needed hardware video encoding at least to make things not super-slow, so I figured, why not port it myself with Claude and Codex. So that's what I did. The kernel and some of the auxillary stuff like ffmpeg, librga, mpp, a mpp -> vaapi bridge, and a gnome-remote-desktop build that encodes using ffmpeg, are all in a PPA. Hello Kind Forum Experts, I ask for you help with following issue: Device: Nanopi-r4s 4GB Background: I'm happy with my device running from SD - but wanted to preemptively upgrade to eMMC based setup for improved reliability. I bought "original" FriendlyELEC SD-to-eMMC adapter + 64GB eMMC module. with normal microSD it boots great, with the sd-to-eMMC - nothing multiple attempts, tried both cloning my old SD & writing fresh image but both didn't help. eMMC type is 1.8V\3.3V HS400 speed, i think i need to address that in the .dtb file ? any help would be much appreciated Uri
