im on a fresh install of armbian cinnamon for the rpi4. i can not seem to get bluetooth working. there seems to be no bluetooth module loaded by kernel maybe? i tried to enable it using armbian-config, but it doesn't get activated by systemctl even when enabled. any ideas?

  2. Installed minimal debian image on my rPI5B. Then used "armbian-config --cmd PVE001" to install Proxmox. That went well with no reported errors. Navigated to the Proxmox web GUI and it looked and acted as expected. I currently have an AMD64 Proxmox cluster operating on my homelab so I am familiar with Proxmox. I wanted to make some changes to my network configuration using the Proxmox GUI. When I clicked the "Apply Configuration" button, it threw an "incompatible ifupdown2 package version" instead of applying the configuration.

  3. Dear all, thanks for the work of you, to provide us with the Armbian Images for our arm-based boards. BUt i've a small issue, starting the last Image for Odroid XU4. If I write the Image to a SD-Card and start the XU4, all Things run well. When I write the Image to my eMMC-Card (original Hardkernel, 64GB), the XU4 doesn't start. Normally, it's not such a big Problem, but there is a massive speedup, using eMMC with XU4. How can I get Armbian startet, installed on an eMMC? Many thanks for your Support, Burkhard

I'm having trouble with the raspberry omv builds. The latest build I can get working is 24.11.1 which doesn't survive an upgrades (I've tried holding the various packages that seem to cause issues which used to work but doesn't work anymore. The suggested trouble shooting on the download page doesn't work either. Currently the 25.11.1 build is stuck in a bootloop, the only irregularity I can identify is failure to load console-setup.service message. I had a working system that lost my soundcard/DAC-hat after trying to address update error messages which's what started this whole refresh process

  6. So my sshd service won't start after a system upgrade. I have no uart access, so currently no console access. I do have access to the root drive on a usb device. I suspect systemd is having a problem starting sshd from the ssh.service unit file. But I'm not sure how to fix it. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Here are the contents of my ssh.service file. I checked that /etc/ssh/sshd_not_to_be_run doesn't exist. I'm a little confused about the runtime directory, so I made a folder in the root directory called sshd with 0755 permissions, but that doesn't seem right. Strangely I couldn't find anything in the syslog file that mentioned s…

  9. Hi, I successfully installed and tested PiClone (or also called SD Card Copier) in Armbian 25.8.1 Trixie on a Raspberry PI 4b with SD cards and SSD via USB adapter and vice versa. Might also work on other Debian based distro's. I just leave my personal instructions here in case others need PiClone too to make copy of good working Armbian install and configuration. To be clear I am not a very advanced user, so others may know to do more efficient. But it is working here without issue. Moved to Armbian because was fed up with annoyances in DietPI, certain things being too different from pure Debian that I use on "regular" computers. Raspberry PI OS i…

  10. Updated several HC1 to Buster. Reapplied the optimized board config, as done under stretch before. Main issue: No matter what CPU governor I set, max. frequency jumps around automagically between 1.8 GHz and 2.0 GHz. I can set performance governor to the range from 1.9 to 2.0 GHz, armbian-config confirms, and when I back out of the menu it says "soc runs between 1800 and 1800 MHz using performance governor". Even at > 90% CPU boards stay below 2.0 GHz. Minor glitches only for boards, I already upgraded from jessie to stretch: - boot.ini misses the hc1.dtb check - must manually edit - systemd misses armbian* entries, as well as the uti…

I rebooted it from the console and when it came on, no storage was available. I could see some /dev/sd* but one HDD was missing from it and the lvm was not available anymore. Also all the HDDs where clicking and I was hearing a loud buzzing sound from the board. I rebooted it again, measured the PSU and even load tested it and it is fine, the same for the moled connectors, it was measuring 12V and 5V, but the truth was, the HDDs this time were not even detected. This reboots fine now, but only with the microSD-card present and the SW1 dipswitch set to "SD card boot mode". Is anybody here using "SPI NOR Flash" or "SATA1" boot mode to get rid of the microSD card? I am bit handicapped here since my serial port on the microUSB only comes up maybe 1 in 10 times. I wonder if it's worn out or if I am simply doing something wrong. Related Links: 1 2 3 4

  19. I know it is unsupported and all, but I just want to point out that running Ubuntu Focal(2020/05/03) with kernel 5.6 on Odroid MC1 has been destroying microSD cards. The board boots up fine, but after an apt-get update and a few minutes in, the Sandisk microSD card died and becomes read-only. I'm not sure if it is vendor-dependent, but I have tried out two new Sandisk microSD cards and they all turned read-only. This might be a kernel issue since on Debian Buster with kernel 5.4 or kernel 4.14 that never happened.

  22. I run armbian on an Odroid HC2. Using hdparm -t /dev/sda I get merely roughly 130MB/s on buffered disk reads. This is way below the expected value for my 2TB Crucial SSD. It is obviously not a major issue as the speed is anyway bottlenecked by the gigabit ethernet. I'm just curious, does anyone get better speeds with a similar setup? I read that poor performance can result from a misaligned partition. Checking the alignment with "align-check" of parted does report that the parition alignment is fine, so I suspect this is not the issue in my case.

  52. I needed to downgrade from 4.19 back to 4.14 so I wanted to use armbian-config/system/other. It gave me an empty list. To fix that, in /usr/lib/armbian-config/functions.sh I needed to change the apt-cache command as follows: apt-cache show linux-image-next-odroidxu4 | grep -E "Package:|version:|Version:" | sed -n -e 's/^.*: //p' | sed 's/\.$//g' I added "-next-" That gave me a list, finally. Then the next issue: apt -s -y --allow-downgrades --no-install-recommends install linux-image-next-odroidxu4=5.60 linux-dtb-next-odroidxu4=5.60 failed with: E: Command line option --allow-downgrades is not…

  53. Hi, Tried searching on docs.armbian.com and the forums but got more confused than anything else. I just installed legacy armbian on my xu4 and the only thing missing is proper video decoding ( vlc won't show any image and mplayer complains that my configuration is too slow ). Could somebody point me to a tutorial on how to enable hardware ( mali t628 ) video decoding ? Thanks for your help !

  54. My end game is to use hardware h264 encoding for my security camera streams (using OpenCV, etc) . The first step is testing ffmpeg. It appears that all the necessary pieces are already present in the release I'm using. If I use: ffmpeg -i centaur_2.mpg -acodec aac -vcodec h264 -b:v 2M -pix_fmt nv21 test.mp4 CPU stays below 12% and I get 44 FPS. Seems like hardware encoding is working here. If I use: ffmpeg -i centaur_2.mpg -acodec aac -vcodec h264_v4l2m2m -b:v 2M -pix_fmt nv21 test.mp4 About the same performance, but the file is 10x larger! If I use: ffmpeg -i centaur_2.mpg -acodec aac -vc…

  55. Hello all, I have installed the image "Armbian 23.02.0-trunk.0176 Lunar with bleeding edge Linux 6.1.6-bcm2711" on my two Raspi 4 systems. One system runs via cable and the other via WLAN. At the beginning there were some problems with the IPv6 - kernel, if "apt update" was executed. I got this problem under control with "disable ipv6".... Since then, both systems run flawlessly & without problems. With the implementation of GPIO you should fall back on an existing GPIO - version, which works in any case also under this image; also for 64bit. One small thing I would like to know very much, because on the system with the cable the…

  56. Hello all, according to the hints on the ARMBIAN homepage the image "Armbian_23.02.0-trunk_Rpi4b_lunar_edge_6.1.5.img" should work with the Raspi 3. Unfortunately it does not work properly, the system does not want to boot with it.... The name of the image says that it was generated for Raspi4, but -as I said- the homepage says that this image would also be compatible for the other Raspberry systems mentioned there. Can anyone tell me what the reason could be, because I would love to use this ingenious image for the Raspi 3. Best regards from Berlin Z. Matthias

  57. Today I imaged 'Armbian_24.8.0-trunk.542_Rpi4b_noble_current_6.6.44_gnome_desktop.img' on to an SD card and then put it in my Raspberry Pi 4 GB. It booted up first time no issues and I went through the setup flow. I am using wired ethernet and was able to reach it remotely immediately. I installed all the updates. When I do "sudo shutdown -h -r now" on the command line (either via SSH or locally in the terminal) it does not reboot. The device stops responding to pings and no longer has HDMI output. If I power cycle the board once, it does not boot up. On the second power cycle it boots up. This seems really odd. Is this some known issue with the raspberry pi 4…

  58. Banana Pi F3 · Started by Bob Ham,

Hi, I've installed the latest Armbian on an F3 (Armbian_26.5.1_Bananapif3_trixie_current_6.18.33_minimal.img), updated and upgraded and then rebooted. Unfortunately there's no PWM controller under /sys: bobham@bananapif3:~$ ls /sys/class/pwm/ bobham@bananapif3:~$ which means there's no fan control. According to the official docs, there should be a PWM controller to control the fan. Can the fan controller be added? Thanks, Bob Ham

  60. Hello everybody. I've faced the issue: Armbian_22.08.7 official image (Armbian_22.08.1_Rpi4b_jammy_current_5.15.61.img) failed to boot on RPi3B plus. The same image boots fine on RPi 4B Could not get serial console output (output is empty) Older official image Armbian_22.08.1_Rpi4b_jammy_current_5.15.61.img boots on Rpi3B plus just fine. As I've found out the reason is incorrect boot partition type set for the image. (minimal) Odroid XU4 with 32GB eMMc After lots of searching and trying 2017 Hardkernel solutions and github etc - And this forum suggestions - I could never get get it to boot. I decided to klipperize an old 3d printer and found some of my orange pi boards dead, so i ended up selecting my XU4 for the task. Fast forward 24 hours and i'm fighting MCU timeouts. Klipper doesn't know what happened just that the mcu stopped responding. And their knowledge base article is basically "gosh it could be anything". One seat of the pants observation i made was that the XU4 idles along at 600mhz with a load average of about 0.1 and it seemed like the load average increased maybe before the mcu stopped responding. The MCU in question is an SKR Pico, aka rp2040 with a usb connection. The mcu is not receiving power from th…

  67. I am a noob on Linux (unfortunately). I run a Xu4 with armbian on it. On the Xu4 i run Domoticz, my home automation system. Something is eating my hdd space; a fixed amount is used up every hour. I set up a new system with a bigger sd but I want to get to the bottom of the issue. I do not know how I can see what the Xu4 does every hour. Perhaps a log or a backup? Perhaps my OS is doing something, or perhaps my Home automation. I do not run any script to make periodic backups or anything else like that. How can I figure it out? Thanks!

  68. As previously posted, I have been looking to buy another board. My research continues. But today I came across this, and wanted to ask if this was something I should jump on, or do they always sell for this price? ODROID-XU4 at Hardkernel shop shows a price of $59.00, which is crossed out and now $49.00 is shown instead. I added an 8GB EMMC module, and then went to my cart to check shipping, which was $28.00 to Eastern US! I have emailed them asking if there is any cheaper shipping option, as that is almost 50% of the price! I will report back their reply if/when I receive it.

  69. Howdy, I'm running Armbian_21.05.1_Odroidxu4_focal_current_5.4.116.img on my XU4 for security cameras. It averages about 60 Mbps 24/7. After a couple days usually one adapter disappears (from ip a and nmtui) and sometimes both (I have a USB 1 Gbps adapter too). I'm not seeing anything in the logs to indicate an error. I monitor this system with Zabbix and I see no unusual activity before this happens. Is there a way to get diagnostics for this event?

  70. I can't pinpoint the cause of the freeze exactly, but it shows as follows in syslog: At midnight, logrotate was started but never successfully concluded. At the time, I was also recording a stream via smb to the hdd. (Not a very demanding activity) When I tried to access the SBC via network share or ssh this morning, neither would show as available. The SBC was running but "dead". When I rebooted it by re-plugging power, instead of showing ~9:00 o'clock, the SBCs internal clock showed 02:17. Here are the last messages of the syslog before the SBC locked up: I should note that the SBC has been running 24/7 stable for weeks. …

  74. I bought an helios4 (and run helios4 4.19.63-mvebu) to replace a bananapi server under armbian, the bananapi was running a DRBD node, so I need this service. I first tried to install it, and have seen that DRBD was not configured in the kernel linux-image-next-mvebu 5.91. and the module was missing I checked in the git repository that linux-mvebu64-next.config has now this configuration option, and thought that I will get a new kernel by switching to nightly build. 75. I'm running a Helios4 NAS with OMV 5.6.6-1 and ZFS 2.0.3. After running for approximately a week it becomes unresponsive - OMV login shows a blue screen but doesn't get to login page, SSH timeout and serial login just keeps going back to the login prompt without asking for the password. Repowering the unit (physically disconnecting the power because there is no way to shut it down gracefully) brings it back to life and it runs again for a week or so before the same thing happens again. I'm not quite sure where to start troubleshooting this. Any ideas ?

I seem to have issues on my Helios 4 where it constantly reboots. I have no idea what happens just before. I assume some kind of kernel panic. Was doing everything as usual and after the first boot from the new SD card tried to run armbian-config while still attached to the serial console. That proved to be a mistake as it started some auto install script type of thing and wiped one of my hard drives. Also the GUI wasn't showing properly. The exact same thing happened when I tried to reproduce the same steps. Should have been wiser and connected via SSH after inital boot to go from there. No such thing happened when running armbian-config via SSH for the first ti…

  100. Hello, I am trying to install Armbian UEFI-x86 into this very small mini PC, but with secure boot enabled it only shows this screen: Disabling the secure boot isn't an option, because every time I turn it off and then turn it on the next morning, the BIOS settings are being reset, then the secure boot is enabled once again (I believe it is intentional, because the CMOS battery only keeps the clock & date). Moreover, I want to use it as a headless computer, so no keyboard will be attached. Is this fixable or Armbian isn't compatible with secure boot? Thanks in advance.
