Hi, forgive me if this has been answered. I've done my fair share of searching. Booting from sdcard works perfectly, but when I run "nand-sata-install" I get the following errors during the "cleanup" phase: sed: can't read /mnt/nand-sata-install.OIQgMo/bootfs/boot/boot.cmd: No such file or directory sed: can't read /mnt/nand-sata-install.OIQgMo/bootfs/boot/boot.cmd: No such file or directory Error while creating U-Boot loader image with mkimage grep: /mnt/nand-sata-install.OIQgMo/bootfs/boot/armbianEnv.txt: No such file or directory Even I though I run "update emmc special partition" successfully, the odroid appears to end up in a boot loop afterwards.…

Hi, gotta ask a question Recently I just reinstalled all my XU4 based server from scratch. Brand new armbian Bullseye with OMV on top installed via armbian-config Then I noticed as seem bellow that half the cores (the low power ones) are idling, even when the system is fully under load on the high power cores The cores are enabled in the /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpuX/online files So the question is "what's wrong"? I don't have prints but I remember all the cores working before Thanks in advance Will

I'm having trouble with the raspberry omv builds. The latest build I can get working is 24.11.1 which doesn't survive an upgrades (I've tried holding the various packages that seem to cause issues which used to work but doesn't work anymore. The suggested trouble shooting on the download page doesn't work either. Currently the 25.11.1 build is stuck in a bootloop, the only irregularity I can identify is failure to load console-setup.service message. I had a working system that lost my soundcard/DAC-hat after trying to address update error messages which's what started this whole refresh process

Hi! my odroid HC2 is running pretty great on armbian 5.90 for >1,5 years (24/7) now. Running a nextcloud instance, with decent perfomance, even when clocked to 600/1200 Mhz in the summer, because of one (1) crash, that I think might have been heat-related. The thing I'm wondering about: in htop, it shows only ( .LITTLE) cores for eight lines, but the cpu is a (.big.LITTLE) architecture and my other HC2 sbc, which runs armbian 20.02.7, show "(.big.LITTLE)" in htop. Perfomance in sysbench is equal on both boards, so this might mean nothing, but it still seemed strange to me. Anyone knows why htop only shows "( .LITTLE)" cores?

Hello, I tried to use again my Helios4, but when we put the power on, only the LED8 light up. This Helios4 was working great a few month ago (before we receive the Helios64 :-) So we removed all sata cables (and fan, and power cables for hard drives) to made new tests. But still the same...:-( And the processor is hot. So, if someone have a idea to fix it. Thank you. Regard.

When flashing the Armbian image for the Odin 2 Portal to the SD card and attempting to boot (on ROCKNIX ABL v1.2), the ABL can detect the SD card but does not detect the OS at all. This is on the latest version of the OS, with the GNOME/ubuntu image flashed via the official Armbian Imager. When will this be fixed? (image not uploaded as it kept throwing errors)

Hi, I successfully installed and tested PiClone (or also called SD Card Copier) in Armbian 25.8.1 Trixie on a Raspberry PI 4b with SD cards and SSD via USB adapter and vice versa. Might also work on other Debian based distro's. I just leave my personal instructions here in case others need PiClone too to make copy of good working Armbian install and configuration. To be clear I am not a very advanced user, so others may know to do more efficient. But it is working here without issue. Moved to Armbian because was fed up with annoyances in DietPI, certain things being too different from pure Debian that I use on "regular" computers. Raspberry PI OS i…

Hi, I wanted to report an issue with the currently available Armbian images for the PocketBeagle 2 (all of them from what I can tell), that stops them from booting up. I attempted to go through the bug reporting form, but it seems to only point you to the forum, so here I am. I couldn't find a location to post about the PocketBeagle 2 board specifically, so I am putting this under the Beagle Y board (they have the same maintainer listed). Please move this to the right place (or maybe create it if it doesn't exist?) or tell me how I should do this myself. Using release Armbian_23.5.1_Rpi4b_jammy_current_6.1.29 on a Raspberry Pi 4b. From a clean install: $ sudo apt update $ sudo apt upgrade $ sudo apt install podman $ podman run --rm docker.io/library/hello-world Error: command required for rootless mode with multiple IDs: exec: "newuidmap": executable file not found in $PATH Podman runs fine with sudo, so for now I can use that as a workaround, but it would be nice to run rootless containers for dev environments. There is a related issue on the official podman repo, but the solutions there don't seem to apply to armbian. https://github.com/containers/podman/issues/9271

I run armbian on an Odroid HC2. Using hdparm -t /dev/sda I get merely roughly 130MB/s on buffered disk reads. This is way below the expected value for my 2TB Crucial SSD. It is obviously not a major issue as the speed is anyway bottlenecked by the gigabit ethernet. I'm just curious, does anyone get better speeds with a similar setup? I read that poor performance can result from a misaligned partition. Checking the alignment with "align-check" of parted does report that the parition alignment is fine, so I suspect this is not the issue in my case.

I am currently developing an application that requires using monitor mode with RT8821CU chipset (rtw88 kernel driver). Previously I was using RaspberryPi OS and everything worked great, but I am moving to Armbian mainly to be able to target more SBCs. The problem is in Armbian, the WiFi monitoring performance is much much worse (at least with the RT8821CU) than with RaspberryPi OS and with my Arch laptop, and I cannot guess why could this be. I have tested on the rpi4b the following: * Build the rtw88 driver with debug and debugfs enabled just in case. * Test with all the three kernel versions available (edge 6.16, current 6.12, legacy 6.6). None of them …

Hey Can anyone confirm the problem with under-clocking in Odroid HC1/HC2/XU4 with Kernel 4.19.14 / Armbian 5.70? I could always reach 2000/1500Mhz without a problem. Currently, after the last Armbian update from 5.60 to 5.70, I noticed a strange behavior that Odroid does not want to reach full clocks. With cpufrequtils min 600 max 2000 and "performance" and clocks do not want to go higher than 1800/1300Mhz temperature cpu 45.0 ° C. No changes just last updates nothing more was touched. After returning to 5.60 and 4.14.69 the CPU runs normally at 2000/1500 .... I also have the impression that HDD sometimes behaves strangely at 5.70 / 4.19.14 …

Hi! short question: Best way to create a bootable clone of sd card? I did some reading and found ">>create image on windows >> shrink image via gparted" doesn't work for me since I dont have a second computer running linux (will the linux subsystem on windows 10 help?). In the past, I used the rpi-clone on a raspberry, but reading in this forum has taught me that hotcloning an armbian sd card via script is not necessarily safe. Computers availabel to me are: 1) odroid hc2 running armbian 2) acer laptop running windows 10

I've been using a Helios4 for nearly 2 years now and it's been fantastic. A couple days ago, it stopped working though. The serial console revealed a boot loop at "U-Boot SPL" and only showing the disks, but never attempting to boot the OS. I did some forum searching and discovered the PSU could be the issue. Using a multimeter, I tested the PSU pins and I get the following (see diagram): PIN 1: +2.66V (fluctuates between 2.64-2.66) PIN 2: +2.66V (fluctuates between 2.64-2.66) PIN 3: GND PIN 4: GND What are the voltages that Helios4 expects for these pins? Should both 1 & 2 be 12V or should one be 12V and the other 5V? I already …

Hi there, I have a little problem with my i2c-screen on the Helios4. It was setup according to the Kobol-Wiki and was working right from the start. I seem to have issues on my Helios 4 where it constantly reboots. I have no idea what happens just before. I assume some kind of kernel panic. Kernel 4.19.63 - works 4.19.84 - I believe works 4.19.104 and above - broken Newer ones are broken as well. This is most likely an issue with some local patch. Any way to view the history?

Today I imaged 'Armbian_24.8.0-trunk.542_Rpi4b_noble_current_6.6.44_gnome_desktop.img' on to an SD card and then put it in my Raspberry Pi 4 GB. It booted up first time no issues and I went through the setup flow. I am using wired ethernet and was able to reach it remotely immediately. I installed all the updates. When I do "sudo shutdown -h -r now" on the command line (either via SSH or locally in the terminal) it does not reboot. The device stops responding to pings and no longer has HDMI output. If I power cycle the board once, it does not boot up. On the second power cycle it boots up. This seems really odd. Is this some known issue with the raspberry pi 4…

Greetings, I installed Armbian Noble with gnome desktop, specifically "Armbian_26.2.1_Rpi4b_noble_current_6.18.9_gnome_desktop.img" on a Raspberry Pi 5. Updated system and installed chrome since I need to play some media from inside chromium browser. However, I checked to see that hardware accelerated video decode is not actually supported within Armbian currently. Previously I had official Raspberry Pi OS installed when I first had a look at the device and there it was enabled. It's kind of a minor thing but I've used different hardware with Armbian before and it would make things a lot easier for me if I can keep using Armbian on Raspberry Pi 5 as well.…

Hi friends, I use armbian for long time, but these days I change my borad to RaspberryPi 4B. However I can not get kernel startup serial output from RPI as usual on the board. Does anyone has more information about that? What I want to do is a atonomy driving experiment environment. And I don't have monitor or keyboard attach to it. I will patch preempt_RT to get the RT linux kernel, so it's difficult for me to pull the RPI out of the test bench everytime and put back after setting the ssh or something everytime I flash new kernel or image. A known issue with the Odroid XU4, HC1, and HC2 is that it (uboot?) does not properly park the hard disk heads before/during shutdown or power cycle/off. So, the disk drive is forced to emergency hard retract the heads when power is shutdown/cycled. This is of course a violent action for the HDD and should be avoided. Use this odroid.shutdown script and install into /lib/systemd/system-shutdown/. https://wiki.odroid.com/odroid-xu4/troubleshooting/shutdown_script Recommend adding to armbian for XU4 distros.

The same image boots fine on RPi 4B Could not get serial console output (output is empty) Older official image Armbian_22.08.1_Rpi4b_jammy_current_5.15.61.img boots on Rpi3B plus just fine. As I've found out the reason is incorrect boot partition type set for the image. Armbian_22.08.1 (boots fine) boot partition type is "c" (W95 FAT32 LBA) Armbian_22.08.7 (doesn't boot) boot partition type is "ef" (EFI) After manually changing boot partiton type to "c" (W95 FAT32 L…

A while ago (February '24), I downloaded and installed Armbian_23.11.3_Rpi5b_bookworm_current_6.1.68_cinnamon_desktop. It is running OK, and I only have a few issues with it. One issue is that the vcgencmd is not working. I posted a question about it on the forum and received a reply saying that this would be solved "when possible." However, it is still not resolved. Without this command working, I cannot get the CPU temperature, so I cannot control the cooling fan. I checked for a newer release today to see if this issue is fixed. I was shocked to see no Bookworm with Cinnamon release available. I'd like to know if it is in the works or has been dropped and wil…

Wanted to share my unfortunate experience today of trying to do a fresh install of a newer armbian version in order to accommodate OMV 5 on my Helios4. Was doing everything as usual and after the first boot from the new SD card tried to run armbian-config while still attached to the serial console. That proved to be a mistake as it started some auto install script type of thing and wiped one of my hard drives. Also the GUI wasn't showing properly. The exact same thing happened when I tried to reproduce the same steps. Should have been wiser and connected via SSH after inital boot to go from there. No such thing happened when running armbian-config via SSH for the first ti…

Hi, A strange error appeared with the last kernel update on an Odroid HC2. From the home in the terminal displays this error under RX totay: RX today: Error: Interface "--oneline" not found in database. The board is hosting an OMV instance under Armbian Bullseye Linux version 5.4.212-odroidxu4. Does anyone have any idea about the origin of this message which does not seem to disrupt the NAS operation. thanks konki

Hello all, I am using Armbian (Debian Bookworm), Gnome with Wayland. everything is working just fine. The problem is with sharing or presenting screen with OBS-Studio, Jitsi, Google meeting or other. If I share a tab in Chromium/Firefox with Jtisi or Google meeting, that's work, but I can't share a window or full screen. I am wondering what is the main cost of that. This when I share full screen, it doesn't work properly, it shows like this: This when I share tab, it's working just fine.

Hello Everyone, As @tkaiser is probably aware from the hardkernel forum, I'm having issues with USB/SMART and OMV. Basically, USB resets whenever SMART data is pulled from OMV's web interface, it works fine if I manually do it in shell. Here is some info. http://sprunge.us/HdbK I was proposed to update smartmontools to 6.5, but there are library dependencies that are missing. If any of you fine folks have any ideas as to what could be causing it, I would be grateful. Thank you

I've observed a significant difference in SSH login speed between DietPi and Armbian on Raspberry Pi 4B (headless setup). Environment Raspberry Pi 4B (headless) DietPi (recently installed) Armbian (previously used) Both systems use default settings Observations SSH login to DietPi is consistently faster than Armbian by a few seconds with default settings. Initially suspected MOTD settings, tested files under /etc/update-motd.d/. Discovered that 10-armian-header adds approximately 1 second to login time. Disabled this component but SSH login to Armbian still remained slow. Found related discussion on Ra…

So my sshd service won't start after a system upgrade. I have no uart access, so currently no console access. I do have access to the root drive on a usb device. Here are the contents of my ssh.service file. I checked that /etc/ssh/sshd_not_to_be_run doesn't exist. I’m relatively new to Armbian, have been running it with XU4 for couple of months. Otherwise working very well, but there’s occational (once a month) full system hang/crash or something. This is a remote server with constant load (video surveillance) and when it happens, all connectivity is of course lost and I think it can be only resolved locally with full power cycle. I’ve not yet tried to attach HDMI monitor when it’s in the crashed state, but will do it next time. Although not very optimistic if that works at all. There are nothing obvious in the logs, or it might be that I don’t know where to look. Are there any general advice what to do, how to figure this out?…

I recently got a Raspberry Pi 5 and installed Armbian on it. Most things work fine, aside for some weird output issues in htop and nano. I noticed, when I go to the Raspberry Pi page on Armbian, the url refers to the Pi 4b, not the 5. I also found some articles online linking to a specific Pi 5b page (which I thought was weird since that model doesn't exist), but it just redirects to the 4b page. Then, I went searching in the archive and found that, at some point, there were specific 5b images available (https://armbian.hosthatch.com/archive/rpi5b/archive). Which of these should I use? Is the 4b image okay to use on a Pi 5? Or do you not suppo…

Hi Igor, Hi Armbian team, I wanted to give a short teaser of an upcoming board I have been developing. The board will be launched through a crowd-funding campaign in couple of weeks. Codename : Helios-4 I'm sure the heatsink will give you some hint The board has been build around the Marvell Armada 388 SoC / SoM from SolidRun. So part of the design is inspired from the Clearfog dev board. Actually the SolidRun helped me on the PCB layout to make this little guy reality. Here the main specs : - dual core A9 @1.6 GHz (max 2Ghz) - 1GB DDR3 (2GB optional) - 4x SATA III - 2x USB 3.0 - 1x Gigabit …

Hi there, not sure where to post this, intended for @rpardini I have an x13s running here with dual boot to win11 and ubuntu 23.04 lunar, the armbian work was a great help to get it to work. Not quite finished setting it up tbqh. However, if you're on a fast boot device like the local NVMe drive, the remoteproc firmwares qcadsp8280.mbn and qccdsp8280.mbn fail to load and won't get retried later, the GPU firmwares a660_sqe.fw and a660_gmu.bin may fail but get loaded later. That is a little unfortunate, since PMIC GLINK (among other things) is running on one of these. My Windows Dev Kit 2023 (same SoC) doesn't balk this way, both boot the same Ubuntu…

I'm new here, so please bear with me! I run an Odroid XU4 with Armbian stretch default. Recently I did a normal apt update and upgrade to kernel/dtb/headers version 5.97 (from 5.91), along with all other possible upgrades. This made the system very unstable- it had an uptime of nearly 3 months with 5.91 (all time high for the board) before the reboot, and after the upgrade it lasted a couple of hours before stalling/crashing. A downgrade to kernel/dtb/headers v 5.95 helped somewhat, but it crashed after a week or so - it may just be of those "it just happens". I went ahead and installed 5.91 and it is stable so far a few days in. The board is a bit…

Is there a repository with older Armbian images available? I'm looking to install OMV6 on my Odroid HC1 (XU4), when I get Armbian Bookworm installed OMV scripts says to use Buster or Bullseye, but I cannot find an Armbian Bullseye image anywhere. I'm not super proficient with Linux (I know enough to get myself in trouble) so compiling my own image is not something I think I can do. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Edit: Nevermind...I'm an idiot...didn't notice the GIANT button for Archived Images. Apologies. Thanks, Robert

Helios4 can boot directly from the sata disk nr 1, without the need to switch from the SD or the eMMC. I personally tried setting SW1 to 11100 and using u-boot-sata for Clearfog, which shares the same uSOM and the system booted regularly, obviously the system didn't recognize many devices being u-boot for another board. I tried to compile a version of u-boot for sata trying to integrate the changes present in https://solidrun.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/developer/pages/287212134/A38X+U-Boot in the U-boot build instruction and sources for Helios4 present in the Kobol Wiki but my skills are not sufficient for such a job. After a major failure of my file server I bought a pair of seagate desktop USB3 drives to use for temporary storage while I sort out the mess. I plugged them into an XU4 and started transferring several 100GBs of data only to have it lock up solid. dmesg indicates a number of uas restarts, the last of which doesn't complete. I had the same thing on another SBC (one of the orange PIs I think, although I can't remember which model) and I also found references to the same problem on x86 boxes, so I think the problem is fairly generic. Apparently it can be worked around by adding a conf file to to /etc/modprobe.d, but I haven't got that to work yet (time has been …

I also tried to factory reset UEFI, but still it doesn't boot. I have disabled fast boot in Windows. I used ballena etcher, rufus and dd to flash images. I tried: Custom image, built 20.03.2025(Kernel 6.14). Armbian_25.2.2_Thinkpad-x13s_noble_sc8280xp_6.13.0_kde-neon_desktop.img.xz Armbian_25.2.2_Thinkpad-x13s_n…

Hi! my Odroid HC2 is running for more than three years now (24/7), hosting a nextcloud instance. Other than two preemptive SD-card swaps no maintenance necessary, armbian performs really great 🙂 Since I was thinking about upgrading to a better machine (Nano Pi M4, if they ever sell them again...) I wanted to install sysbench to compare some CPU specs. But sudo apt-get install sysbench gives: unable to locate package sysbench I'm running a recently upgraded armbian, v22.02.1 with Kernel 5.4.181. Any ideas? I'm pretty sure I had sysbench on an earlier version of armbian. EDIT: fixed typos

Unable to start docker after update, due to apparmor I used armbian-config's "edit boot-enviroment", added "extraargs=apparmor=0" and after a reboot I still get: docker start portainer Error response from daemon: AppArmor enabled on system but the docker-default profile could not be loaded: running `apparmor_parser apparmor_parser --version` failed with output: error: exec: "apparmor_parser": executable file not found in $PATH Error: failed to start containers: portainer armbianmonitor: https://paste.armbian.com/ebuburoxeh

Today unattended upgrades ran and installed the following: libtasn1-6 linux-dtb-current-odroidxu4 linux-image-current-odroidxu4 linux-u-boot-odroidxu4-current Afterward, the system automatically rebooted and went into a boot loop. I had a backup I was able to copy to the emmc and get back up and running but it is from October 2024 and I am not really sure what to do. coming here to see if anyone else has experienced the same. I tried to run armbianmonitor -U and it had some weird html. I am pretty good with Linux but everything is self taught. thank you in advance for any help Dan

if you sudo apt upgrade the firmware package for the q6a breaks wifi and i believe ethernet... I do not have a concise fix for this i reflashed my device with the latest build after doing it originally to get wifi when validating the issue i had backed up the firmware etc for the default network drivers after upgrading broke the networking drivers had to restore firmware from previous build.... Would give a fix but aint that easy if you already upgraded you need to download the previous firmware put on usb stick and slap it on either that or figure out whats broken in the last one this is kind of rambling but yeah just be careful upgrading

Recently, when I run `armbian-upgrade`, I was greeted with an update to raspi-firmware. However, this version of firmware doesn't seem to work with the corresponding intramfs with kernel 6.12.44. sudo armbian-upgrade Hit:1 https://mirrors.ustc.edu.cn/armbian trixie InRelease Hit:2 https://mirrors.ustc.edu.cn/debian trixie InRelease Hit:3 https://mirrors.ustc.edu.cn/debian trixie-updates InRelease Hit:4 https://mirrors.ustc.edu.cn/debian-security trixie-security InRelease Hit:5 https://github.armbian.com/configng stable InRelease Get:6 https://apt.syncthing.net syncthing InRelease [24.2 kB] Fetched 24.2 kB in 2s (14.8 kB/s) 2 packages can be upgraded. After upgrading to the 5.15 kernel, I noticed that the fan control is only able to control one of the fans, while the other spins at full speed. Experimentally I found out that the PWM control for the second fan is ineffective: helios4# uname -r 5.15.86-mvebu helios4# echo 0 > /dev/fan-j10/pwm1 # works, fan is off helios4# echo 255 > /dev/fan-j10/pwm1 # works, fan at full speed helios4# echo 0 > /dev/fan-j17/pwm1 # does nothing, full speed helios4# echo 255 > /dev/fan-j17/pwm1 # does nothing, full speed Some digging around I found that 92-mvebu-gpio-remove-hardcoded-timer-assignment.patch has been ported to 5.15, but it doesn't seem to w…

I’m running jammy and (I think) I’d like to upgrade to bullseye. But I can’t find a procedure for doing so. I’m guessing I can’t just dist-upgrade since jammy is Ubuntu and bullseye is Debian? I’ve googled for a procedure and searched this forum as well but I’m not finding a procedure. While searching this forum, I saw lots of topics where people had problems after upgrading to bullseye. Should I even do the upgrade? I don’t have much invested in the jammy install so far. Aside from running through armbian-config and getting all the settings the way I want them, the only things I’ve done are 1) installed Docker and 2) installed docker-compose. The latter was …
