A stable Armbian Bookworm configuration for your Helios64 is provided here (solved). ************************************************************************* Recently a new Armbian 23.08.1 Bookworm image with linux-6.1.50 was made available for Helios64 on its download page (see here) - which is as such great 😀. Everything starts up nicely, but unlike the previous Bookworm 23.05 image, the current one has an issue with accessing USB devices. In the boot process the following error occurs: # cat /var/log/syslog | grep error 2023-09-07T12:31:05.671598+02:00 helios64 kernel: [ 2.537009] dwc3 fe900000.usb: error -ETIMEDOUT: failed …

Hello, I tried to install Armbian on my NanoPC T6, but when I boot it and look at the dmesg, I see some errors related to the emmc module. The emmc module is not the problem; I have tried different operating systems, and I don't encounter these issues. Here are the logs: https://paste.superkali.me/dajiqaloxa.yaml Thank you in advance.

Hello, with the last kernel update I have untimely reboot of my nas. some info : hardware : helios64 os : armbian bullseye based with openmediavault 6 on top kernel : armbian-bsp-cli-helios64-current:arm64 23.8.1 before the update to armbian-bsp-cli 23.8.1 the system have some unexpected restarts, but less than 1 by day. Hello, So is anyone aware of a way (like a text file)to populate with values etc to bypass the need to be interactive during first boot? Since this device is displayless and I hate to pop the case every time to hookup the console cable when setting up a half dozen devices. I imagine I could alter the first boot script, but was just wondering if there was another way. Thanks! Richard

Hi all, For most Nanopi devices there are packages in the registry which contain the u-boot files, for example: https://mirrors.dotsrc.org/armbian-apt/pool/main/l/linux-u-boot-nanopi-r4s-current/ Is there a reason these packages aren't present for the Nanopi R6S? The reason behind this question is that I used to extract the u-boot from these packages to experiment with other OS'es which have no official release for a certain device. Of course I can get the u-boot from the downloadable images its first couple bytes, but downloading just the package is way smaller. If there is another source to obtain the u-boot blobs I am all ears. …

I am trying to get a RPi camera (imx219) working on a RockPI 4C. I have been piecing together DTS files from various places trying to make sense of it, and I noticed that the rkisp kernel module isn't compiled on the Rockchip64 kernels. Is there a reason for this or am I missing something? Looking at the kernel menuconfig, only one of its dependencies isn't compiled: `V4L_PLATFORM_DRIVERS=n`.

Hi there, I'm using the latest version of armbian to run the linuxptp for the ieee1588v2 clock. When I check the timestamp status, the 1Gbps port which is the RTL8122 is no problem, but the 2.5G ports RTL8125BG are only supporting the software timestamp. However, when I checked the Realtek website, it says that the 8125BG also supports the IEEE1588 clock. I tried to install the driver, but it did not work. As a beginner in Linux, I probably don't have the knowledge to compile drivers, in this case I sincerely hope that armbian could officially support the hw ptp timestamp in 8125 NIC. Thank you very much! nanopi-r6s:~:# ethtool -T end0 Ti…

I have the newest Armbian 28.08.0-trunk image running on a NanoPi R6C with a 4TB NVMe SSD. The NanoPi is only connected to power and 1G ethernet via the 1G WAN port. When using the machine as NAS with Samba and a Windows client connected there is a strange problem when receiving large files. The files are stored on the NVMe SSD with ~450MB/s read/write via PCIe 2.1x1. When transmitting files from the NanoPi to a SMB client the 1G ethernet is maxed out but when receiving files the connection drops down to ~60 MB/s every few seconds. This instantly gets fixed when using the 2.5G LAN port instead of the 1G WAN port. On that po…

my Helios64 Board is now so unstable -- it on its own isn't worth putting in more of my time... but the rest of the NAS system "seems" fine -- so is there anything I can replace the logic board with ?? are there any "working" boards to be purchased anywhere? I've looked all over and the board "seems" close to the tinkerboard but I don't think it is one. I believe that it was a custom build. anyone else just try to replace the board and move on? I am unable to play files over SMB, but I can't seem to figure out what the problem is exactly. From what I can tell it *seems* ffmpeg is compiled without networking support, at least this is what smplayer was complaining about: [ffmpeg] Protocol not found. Make sure ffmpeg/Libav is compiled with networking support. Failed to open smb://192.168.1.1/transmission/myfile.mkv. Exiting... (Errors when loading file) But when I look at the ffmpeg switches it was compiled with: --enable-libsmbclient and seems to be present. Now I'm a complete linux n00b, does anyone have an idea ?

Good morning, I am an electronics engineer, and wanted to make an additional card for the nanopi neo3 based on the rk3328 to add an EMMC and an SPI memory to it so that it no longer uses an sd card. By dint of searching the forum, I managed to modify the dtb files of the neo3 to include the spi@ff190000 of my neo3 and to make the dtbo files spidev and jedec. But unfortunately, armbian-config cannot finish the job. For information I use a N25Q064..3E (flashroom information with active spidev) and goes back well in /dev/mtd0 in jedec. but in my armbian i have no file /usr/lib/uboot***spl.bin. Maybe the problem …

I've been struggling to get interrupt to work on my 5b with a water flow sensor. Any suggestions or help is appreciated. Here's what I've tried and validated so far: Hardware: The flow sensor signal wire is connected to wiringpi pin 2, which is physical pin 7, gpio pin 54 I've put in a pull-down resistor between the gpio pin and GND I've confirmed with a multi-meter that the signal line has a voltage of 0 when the sensor isn't spinning. I've confirmed that "gpio read 2" shows the pin as 0 in that state I've confirmed that the signal line voltage peaks to around 1.5 vdc when the …

I solved this for myself and created an account so I could post it here. I saw a few posts going back years which said either this can't be done on an Orange Pi 5 or they had no replies. The problem: I wanted to boot my system from the EMMC but leave my large capacity SD card plugged in for extra storage. The script in armbian-config worked as expected. However, leaving the SD card inserted caused the board to continue to boot from it. Wiping the SD prevented the board from booting at all. I could eject the SD card, boot from the EMMC and then re-insert the SD card to use it as storage, but that's annoying. The solution: I noticed …

Hello everyone! I will teach you how to install WiringOP on Armbian. It's not the most practical method, but it works. First, we download the repository from the original website. $ apt-get update $ apt-get install -y git $ git clone https://github.com/orangepi-xunlong/wiringOP.git Then, we proceed to look for the name of our board that is associated with Armbian. $ cat /etc/armbian-release | grep "BOARD=" | awk -F'=' '{print $2}' The previous command will give us the name of the board, which is the following: root@armbian:~# cat /etc/armbian-release | grep "BOARD=" | awk -F'=' '{print $2}' orangepi-r1plus-lts Now, we pro…

I am a newbie to linux. I installed orange pi os with arch linux from the official site, using rkdevtool and pressing maskrom button. I installed xfce and uninstalled gnome. The OS is stored in the emmc of the pi, and everything boots fine unless i insert the sd card in the designated sd card slot. At first, i had OS arch in that sd card, and when i first plugged it in the pi, the sd card OS booted. I figured that the pi gave priority to the boot section of the sd card, and since i dont need 2 OS on my pi, i decided not to investigate further, and just avoid the problem by wiping the sd card clean. I deleted all the partitions through the Windows Disk Partition app, forma…

I plan to upgrade my NVMe memory. I currently boot off it - I set this up using the Armbian installer. Before doing the upgrade I'd like to know that I can boot off my SD card, should anything go wrong with the upgrade. But I'm unsure how to disable the NVMe boot sequence (which I think is SPI flash --> eMMC/mmcboot --> NVMe). If I insert my Armbian SD card, the system doesn't start. I've tried shorting pins 23/25 to disable the SPI flash but this has no effect. I am assuming that I can complete the upgrade by amending armbianEnv.txt to make the 'rootdev=UUID' line point to the new NVMe's UID? Is there a known solution to my que…

I've installed Armbian_v22.05.2_Rockpi-4cplus_jammy_current_6.1.33_minimal and whatever I try to play a 1080p video via the performance is horrible with very slow refresh, totally unusable. Normally loki gives me acceptable performance on SBCs of similar performance but not in this case. The Rock 4c plus is quite powerful so I'm really shocked at how badly it's performing. Let me be clear, I understand that the issue I see is not that the Rock 4c plus isn't cable of playing video, clearly it is and I'm not complaining about the hardware of the device. It's just that the software being used clearly needs to be optimised for it and most things out th…

Hi all, I have an Armbian installed on Orange PI 4B. I am trying to connect a flight controller to Orange PI 4B by using UART port. This board has a 40 pin header. I went to armbian-config, and enabled the UART1 and UART 4 which are available from armbian-config. I plug the UART port (to Pin 8 and pin 10) on the 40 pin header. Is that port UART 4? I am not sure. It does not work. I tried the debug port, but the Orange PI does not start up if something is plugged in to the debug UART port. Hey everyone, I need some assistance with a problem I'm facing. I recently attempted to attach a 5V cooler to my Orange Pi 4 board, but unfortunately, nothing seems to be happening. I even used a multi-meter to measure the voltage, and it consistently shows 0.0V. To ensure I connected everything correctly, I consulted online diagrams and made sure I was using the appropriate pins. Currently, I am powering my Orange Pi 4 using the USB-C connection. Could this be the cause of the issue? Should I change to use the power jack connection? I would greatly appreciate any help or suggestions you can provide. Thank you in advance.

Linux 6.3 officially supports the rockchip-rk3588 (6.4 is out). When can we expect a kernel update and which kernel version would that be? Thank you

Hello, I stupidly upgraded without thinking about the possible consequences. 6.1 to 6.2. Ive had my /home on nvme. But the nvme drive is no longer recognized. I have managed to get my display back, Im not sure about my panel yet. I had restore my device tree overlay. Ive hacked around losing the nvme. But it would be good to get my nvme drive back. I've got some work to do to deal with not having that storage and what was on it. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Alternatively, maybe it's not too hard to roll back to 6.1? I haven't contemplated that.

After rebooting and being greeted by enter your password, it did not work claiming its missing the dm_mod module. This is the device-mapper module needed by cryptsetup to create a device in /dev/mapper/ After running unmkinitramfs on the 6.3.9 kernel /usr/lib/modules/6.3.9/kernel/drivers/md/dm-mod.ko was indeed missing. Is this normal for mainline ubuntu kernels ? and does anyone know how…

Hello! First off, thanks for the amazing product you all have created - huge props to everyone who contributes! I have been trying to get Armbian completely working on my Orange Pi 5b for a week now. Most notably: WiFi. Just a few moments ago I set up a new build of Armbian again, on an empty SD card. The one from https://www.armbian.com/orangepi-5/, Armbian 23.5 Jammy Gnome, as the more recent builds' armbian-config don't seem to have an option to enable overlays. After doing the default setup (user, locale, and it asks for "connect via wifi?" but shows no WiFi devices), I ran armbian-config. I go to System -> Hardware, b…

How can I install the sources, import default config for Rock-5b and build & install custom kernel? It's OK to build it natively on Rock-5B

I'm trying to get wifi working with the new wifi chip on the official image 23.5 but it seems to be missing the dtb for the Orange Pi 5b. Does anyone mind posting that file? I did follow the steps to extract that file from an official image but I can't trace the source anymore. Also any update on the availability of the 23.5 images in the apt? I just switched my release to nightly but it still shows 23.02 Thanks Erik

Hey guys, I just received an orange pi 5b, pcb says version 1.1. Unfortunately, the HDMI is dead, out of the box. No display is being recognized. The pi boots, though. Then I had a closer look at the HDMI connector on the board. I wonder if the HDMI ever works for anybody. The traces are connected in the wrong place, especially the DDC lines for monitor data and the hotplug detect is mixed up. The picture confirms that. The pin on the lef is supposed to be hotplug detect, but it routed like a differential pair and connects to a capacitor. The other trace of that pair is also in the wrong place. Can some of you confirm that? Do…

Hi all, I am running armbian bookworm on a nanopi r6c (rk3588). At boot, wireguard does not resolve the endpoint (strange, because it runs after network-online.target) and instead of keep trying, it gives up. If I manually restart it, all is good. Attached screenshots show the different behaviour in a raspberry pi (rpi4 as hostname) running raspios, where it keeps trying to resolve the endpoint, and nanopi r6c not retrying. I will recompile kernel to enable wireguard debug (or is there a quicker way?)

Hello, When I try to build any image for 5B with the Edge kernel and Ubuntu, it will not boot. No matter if desktop or server, both green and blue LEDs are permanently on, and the board doesnt start. If so how'd ya do it!?!? My personal experience had been a rock solid device on the original official Debian Armbian image (Linux Kernel: 5.10), and OMV5. It never went down unless I manually rebooted, and I never needed any CPU governor changes, voltage changes or otherwise to keep it stable. Reading so much stuff about OMV5 being end of life made me pull the trigger on upgrade to OMV6 along with the kernel upgrade that OMV did automatically, at the time unaware of the state of Kobol and Armbian support. Now I get about 1-2 days on average before it KPs and I have to hit the reset button. Tried the CPU underclocking, performa…

Hello all, I am running Armbian 23.05.1 rock5b jammy legacy on a rock5b. The current kernel version, as given by uname -r, is 5.10.160-rockchip-rk3588. Hi I found the following page https://www.armbian.com/rockpi4/ but I guess those files are for rock pi 4 and not rock pi 4 c? It has a link to 4 c plus images https://fi.mirror.armbian.de/dl/rockpi-4cplus/archive/ but they only contain bullseye? So are there any plans for rockpi 4 c plus to have a bookworm image? Are there any github pipelines that build them where I could send a pull request? (not that my c or c++ compilation skills are existing but I would be happy to give it a try).

It's quite some time ago that I used my rockpi however today I wanted to restart my project again (some sensors with an A/D Board connected to SPI). First of all I tested the Board on a Raspberry Pi (with Raspbian) there it is working as expected so it is not a hardware issue. I connected my board MOSI = GPIO2_B2 (Pin 29), MISO = GPIO2_B1 (Pin 31), CS = GPIO2_B4 (Pin 33), Clock = GPIO2_B3 (Pin 7). What gives with the Armbian website links? Links to all previous versions Armbian for the OrangePi R1 Plus LTS have been removed. The links to SHA hash and PGP signature do nothing. Brand new out of box, the wireless works fine on the orange android os. I then downloaded the orange os aarch64 image and installed. It was the latest. Wireless did not work, but after a couple lines of code/commands it did. I had to add a line to the orangepienv.txt file that was dealing with overlays. After that and a reboot it worked fine. BUT it is seriously boxed in. That is, because of lack of aarch64 support I could not download what I needed...so I tried debian which worked ok, but had issues with processing streaming video over 480p...anything higher I was having screen stutter and ripping plus their was artifacts everywhere. Finally I settled on Armbian,…

Greetings, I have multiple NanoPi NEO3s on the same subnet. When booting with Ubuntu 20.04.6 LTS they use the physical MAC address when posting to DHCP, but ARMbian seems to create a default (fake) MAC address and uses that instead. Judging by the "armbianmonitor -U" output, ARMbian knows about the physical MAC address, it just doesn't use it. The NEO3 board is listed as supported, but there is another posting dated 2020 that still seems to be unresolved. MAC address c2:1f:b3:b0:d2:41 seems to be a generic (fake) address that is being used. Is there a remedy to allow it to use the actual hardware address with this kernel ? -- -- -- brack…

I have a jammy Armbian install on one of the (really) new IndieDroid Nova devices. I have changed /etc/gdm3/custom.conf, setting AllowRoot=true and /etc/pam.d/gdm-password, disable root quiet setting. Typical of what you do for Debian to enable explicit user/password input of the Gnome greeter. But with Armbian jammy, I still only get the default 'ttt' user forced on me, and the only value I can enter is the password for ttt. How to get the user list to appear so I can select ANY user and enter the password?

Hi, I have a USB device that periodically hangs. Reboot or re-plug helps, but I need something lighter. I've seen several discussions on the problem of resurrecting hanging USB devices, but their solutions seems devices specific. Non on them worked in my case. I tried ioctl with USBDEVFS_RESET among other methods. uhubctl didn't work too (it seems it only sees EHCI hub, while my device is USB3.0 and connected to XHCI). Ideally the solution should depower a single USB connector to let the device fully reset and then get it connected back.

Has anyone previously teste…
