  1. I upgraded my 5.10 install to 6.1 kernel got everything working including wifi using armbian-config - change kernel but after I noticed that video acceleration was broken with vlc I decided to rollback. The initial rollback somehow failed, after some tweaking, I've been able to boot the system again and run kernel 5.1 but now I don't have my ap6275 working anymore and the video acceleration modules from 5.x seem to be gone. I have the overlay for the ap6275 but it is not loading any module. What am I missing?

  2. I just installed the most recent nightly image - this one looks like a major update but it broke armbian on my opi 5 1. I had to re-install the mali firmware to get x11/wayland to start - not sure why the update deleted the file 2. I had to re-install the mali-g610-firmware rockchip-multimedia-config packages 3. 3. I have my kernel locked to 6.1.75 but still after 25.8.2 update, I lost all USB devices on both of my Orange PI 5. Only the USB3 port is working. The only way I've been able to get access to the USB is by switching to the latest `current` kernel... Any clues on what is going on? Firmware or kernel upgrades are not doing anything... where can the issue be???? I tried downgrading to many different versions but beside the current branch, USB is gone. Thanks

  5. Hello, I am trying to create a custom uboot using armbian. it's possible? I am using the following command but I cannot generate the "uboot.bin" to save it to the spi: ./compile.sh uboot-config BOARD=orangepi5 BRANCH=current BUILD_DESKTOP=no BUILD_MINIMAL=yes BUILD_ONLY=u-boot CONFIGURATION=stable KERNEL_CONFIGURE=no KERNEL_ONLY=no PROGRESS_DISPLAY=plain RELEASE=bookworm UBOOT_ONLY=yes Thank.

  6. Anyone have any success getting this module for new MediaTek WIFI 6 adapters? I've tried this backport of the mainline driver but get this compilation error. https://github.com/astsam/mt7921/issues/1 Anyone any ideas?

  7. Have an incident where I tried installing a newer kernel in an nvme working setup and the device wont post. My original installation flash card is working but is giving me problems. So I got 2 others and attempted to boot new version of the image and Im getting no post. I was able to solve my original problem by installing a legacy version in flash and copying /boot over to nvme. I also attempted rebuilding the mme partitions with no success. But it seems that there is something not working right with kernel 6.7.

  8. My Orange Pi 5 with latest debian does not reboot. I use it faceless (without local screen) via RDP (LAN) from Windows, works fine. But I cannot reboot. Neither via RDP nor via SSH. The green LED stops blinking, the red LED continues. But no LAN access. Must do hard reset via button or power off/on. Any ideas?

  10. I installed U-Boot in the Orange Pi 5's SPI memory, connected via UART via the CH340G adapter (the power switch is lost). The speed is 1500,000 baud, 8n1. Connected TX-RX, RX-TX, GND-GND. After starting the board, I see the logs, but I can't enter anything at all. When I change the power supply, the input works, but it enters incomprehensible characters instead of the usual ones. When installing the EDK2-RK3588, there was no such problem on the same power supply and adapter. How can I fix the UART input?

  12. I am trying to build the kernel with the standards scripts, but directly on my orange pi 5. The build is stopping at some point because of a Warning issued by the compiler (this is the default behaviour for the compiler who does not tolerate any warning by default). (Some functions in the C code are depreciated, thus a warning is issue) How can I set the CFLAGS so that the kernel build takes it into account during compilation? Thanks.

  23. Hi, The release notes for Armbian 23.11 state, under Key Improvements in This Release, "Mainline Kernel for RK3588 with experimental HDMI support." I am currently running the default 5.10.160-legacy-rk35xx kernel If I wanted to switch to and try out the mainline kernel for RK3588 with experimental HDMI support, would I do something like this: sudo apt install linux-image-collabora-rockchip-rk3588 After testing, If I want to rollback to the default legacy kernel, what are the steps involved? Apologies if there are instructions elsewhere that cover this. Thanks in advance for any guidance.

Hi all, this is my first post here on the forum. I'm getting ready to wrap up for the night, but I recently purchased an Orange Pi 5 (non-B) to do some tinkering with. I downloaded the Bookworm XFCE variant as I am somewhat familiar with XFCE already. Anyway, upon initial testing, I thought my power supply wasn't good enough for the board. I wasn't getting any HDMI output. When I removed the micro-SD card and tried to boot it that way, an orange pi splash screen would show on the attached display, so I think the port actually works (?) I have a spare USB to TTL Serial adapter so I was able to verify the board was successfull…

  44. Hello! I'm trying to look around in the Armbian build/config scripts to see how I can enable a mainline v6.15-rc3 kernel to be built. I did try to make a build/userpatches/lib.config file with the contents, KERNELBRANCH="tag:v6.15-rc3" But that's not working. Would anyone be able to tell me the file I need to edit for an OrangePi 5? Update: I actually seem to have it try by editing config/sources/families/rockchip-rk3588.conf changing the version tag. But I get a bunch of red errors complaining about SHA1. hmm...an 'rc3' is probably not to be found in a tree with 'stable' in it. Cheers! Fred

  45. Hello, I have installed the minimal Trixie based image for Orange Pi5 (the image named Armbian_26.2.1_Orangepi5_trixie_current_6.18.8_minimal) and then attempted to build an out-of-tree kernel module. Having installed dkms and build-essentials, plus the kernel headers through armbian-config, I found the headers package hasn't been fully set-up, the build symlink in /lib/modules/<KVER> is missing and dkms complains that the kernel headers for the kernel are not installed. The kernel headers are installed though, but it looks like they're from a previous release (25.11.2 instead of 26.2.1). # dpkg -l | grep rockchip ii linux-dtb-cur…

I first installed the official OS (Ubuntu), where I needed to do into orangepi-config and go into System > Hardware > wifi-ap6275p and enable that to use the official M.2 WiFi dongle. However, I don’t see this option on Armbian. Does it not support it?

Hi, Thank you for maintaining this excellent distribution, I have tried out this evening, via SD card, the new Armbian 23.11 Bookworm CLI Kernel 6.7 and I wanted to share some feedback on it along with some queries please: 1) HDMI works connected to my 4K Samsung TV, although I had to turn off "Input Signal Plus" for it to display the console correctly, otherwise there were all manner of green rectangles and other screen corruption present. Turning off "Input Signal Plus" fixed this straight away. 2) I cannot access either of the SSDs I have connected to my powered USB 3 hub. I tried with the hub connected to the USB-C port …

Not sure if the rolling release includes the UART dtb yet, but when I build my own image (jammy xfce kernel 5.10.110) I don't have the UART dtbs in /boot/dtb/rockchip/overlay/ . As a result, I couldn't add uart0-m2 to /boot/armbianEnv.txt and get /dev/ttyS0 when I was following the official user manual to enable UART. Bluetooth appeared on my Armbian Ubuntu Jammy setup and I plugged in the dongle. It saw a few of my bluetooth devices. Reason I wanted bluetooth is to use a controller for some games/emulators. The mouse flickers when I move it. This happens on both XFCE and Plasma (X11) 2. Every once in a while, the Plasma panels freeze and I have to reboot my OPI to get it to work. This also happens if I right-click on it and press "Enter Edit Mode". If I don't do that, it freezes randomly (afaik). This affects both the panels and the background (panels don't update, can't interact, cannot right-click). Does anyone know of any solutions to this? Thanks!
