  1. Hi, I tried to activate the SPI interface on a Tinkerboard2S. I used the last Armbian version (Armbian_community_25.2.0-trunk.110_Tinkerboard-2_bookworm_current_6.6.63_minimal). I edited the /boot/armbianEnv.txt and add the overlays, I found different parameters and all doesn't work, I tried: overlays=spi0 spi2 overlays=spi-spidev param_spidev_spi_bus=0 and via armbian-config: fdt_overlays=rockchip-rk3399-spi-spidev But with all approaches I didn't get a /dev/spi* device. Any ideas? TIA

  2. Issue: LEDs don't work and /sys/class/leds is empty after upgrade to 24.11.3 on ROC-RK3328-CC Renegade (boot & system on eMMC.) Before upgrade, 24.11.1 had LEDs working with "firefly:blue:power" and "firefly:yellow:user" 24.11.1 had /sys/class/leds/firefly:blue:power pointing to /sys/devices/platform/leds/leds/firefly:blue:power as shown here: On this (LED working) installation BEFORE UPGRADE: " armbianmonitor -u " logging output here: https://paste.next.armbian.com/ucizofikay Note the pretty names + armbian firmware show 24.11.3, while the other packages held back to 24.11.1 by the setting in armbian-config tool. 3. Hello everyone, I’m using a Radxa Zero 3E with Armbian 24.8.1 Bookworm OS and trying to connect a device to Radxa via UART. However, I can’t seem to find the ttyAML0 interface. The only UART interfaces visible are ttyS1 and ttyFIQ0 , but neither works for my setup. I have connected the device to the UART_AO_A pins (pins 8 and 10). Additionally, when I go to armbian-config -> System -> Hardware, no hardware appears on the screen. Could this issue be related to the Armbian image I am using? I’ve already tried the b6 image, but it has a boot problem. I also noticed that the other official Radxa images are marked as pre-release. …

In order to review the Tinker Board boot logs via serial console, I set up armbianEnv.txt to get the logs. But Armbian didn't output anything. Can anyone tell me what is wrong? As long as I reviewed boot.cmd, the serial port was assigned to /dev/ttyS2. So I used UART2 GPIO pins (GP7C7 for TX, GP7C6 for RX) to interact. (snip) if test "${console}" = "serial" || test "${console}" = "both"; then setenv consoleargs "console=ttyS2,115200n8 ${consoleargs}"; fi (snip) The barudrate is 115200. Of course, I re-checked my connection between USB-UART serial cable and UART2 GPIO pins (USB-UART RX to GP7C7TX, USB-UART TX to GP7C6 RX). Any infor…

  7. Hello!! I just got my Orange Pi 5 the other day and am trying to 'port' a program I've been working on for RPi4b over to this new board. The program is using ffmpeg to decode h264 and hevc video streams. My main question is how do I need to configure the ffmpeg codex context and formats to make use of (ideally zero copy) HW accelerated video decode on Orange Pi 5? For the raspberry code I was using these: avcodec_find_decoder_by_name("hevc"); and avcodec_find_decoder_by_name("h264_v4l2m2m"); together with codec_context->pix_fmt = AV_PIX_FMT_DRM_PRIME; // for zero copy video path But this does not work when compil…

  8. Hi, I've read on here that you can apparently switch to a stable edge branch through Armbian Config, but the closest I can find is 'switch to rolling packages repository' and 'distribution upgrade to rolling unstable'. Are either of these correct? I'm running the Ubuntu Noble 6.12 kernel, btw. Many thanks.

What does run: Joystick 8x8 led matrix (partly, seems that there are some parts of the framebuffer not fully working) What doesn't run: all the sensors attached on the board What's missing: load it devicetree overlay (at the moment it's coded into the main dts) how-to what's needed to get it working on your tinker too I'll keep you updated.

Hello people, Happily running Bookworm, because it was the mainstream download for OPI5 a few months ago, I now see that the main download for OPI is back to Jammy. Apart from hardware accceleration, Bookworm runs great for me. In fact HA is not crucial for my server usage, though it would be nice. Question: what is the reason the main OPI5 download is now back to Jammy in stead of Bookworm? And what would be the advantages of going back from Bookworm to Jammy? (Got the aluminium passively cooling case for the OPI5, so far it's been great, 10 minutes of stresstesting all 8 cores doesn't get above 70 degrees celsius. For reference my…

  18. I somewhat recently used Armbian Build to compile a desktop Bookworm image, which is quite stable and functional except for EMMC support. Packages: Debian stable (bookworm) Support: DIY (custom image) Linux Atlas 6.1.84-vendor-rk35xx #1 SMP Tue Dec 24 13:36:04 UTC 2024 aarch64 GNU/Linux My question is where can one find the current status of the various kernel versions support for features like I2C, SPI, EMMC, MESA, etc.? I recognize that newer kernels like 6.12.yyy are very much a WIP. I also would love more information on the the RK3588 kit used with kernels to backport features.

  21. So recently I flashed Orange Pi OS to SD card, booted from there, updated system, firmware and flashed bootloader to SPI flash. I already had an external HDD with Armbian flashed, and tried to boot from there, but no luck. Afterwards, I tried to boot Armbian from SD card, but I can't boot any system that is not Orange Pi OS (and especifically, it needs to be from SD card, can't also boot from USB even in OPi OS). Tried with different SD cards and USB devices, no luck I believe I need to erase SPI flash in order to boot from SD again, but, how can I do it? Used latest OrangePi OS and Armbian Jammy CLI from 23/01 (stable release)

  54. I have my kernel locked to 6.1.75 but still after 25.8.2 update, I lost all USB devices on both of my Orange PI 5. Only the USB3 port is working. The only way I've been able to get access to the USB is by switching to the latest `current` kernel... Any clues on what is going on? Firmware or kernel upgrades are not doing anything... where can the issue be???? I tried downgrading to many different versions but beside the current branch, USB is gone. Thanks

  57. Hi, I wanted to give my Odroid M1 new life by installing a fresh Armbian 25.5.1. Previously it was running on an old Odroid Ubuntu Image. After starting from SD I have no ethernet connection. The eth0 interface is DOWN. I tried using a USB3 2.5G ethernet adapter, but the new network interface also shows DOWN. I have tried Debian and Ubuntu Minimal images with the same results. What could be the cause and how do I get a working ethernet connection? Thanks Malz

  61. I'm using a kernel built from sources as there's another bug which the github sources resolve. The bundled kernel with the OS image does not kernel panic. (However this image only has around a 5% chance of mounting any nvme drive) Output: Dump from 'armbianmonitor -U' https://tmpfiles.org/dl/314994/dump.txt.tar (The Armbian self-hosted system seems to be a bit moody when it wants to work)

  62. My Orange Pi 5 with latest debian does not reboot. I use it faceless (without local screen) via RDP (LAN) from Windows, works fine. But I cannot reboot. Neither via RDP nor via SSH. The green LED stops blinking, the red LED continues. But no LAN access. Must do hard reset via button or power off/on. Any ideas?

Hi, I've been compiling my own Armbian images since 6.13-rc5, and now 6.13 and I noticed that when I compile i3, youtube videos and webgl tests don't work as great when I compile i3 with mesa-vpu as it does when I compile e.g., cinnamon. I also noticed that the suffix is not -mesa-desktop, only -desktop. Is it as per design and i3 doesn't include mesa at all, or is it some kind of bug? Thanks!

Hello everyone, due to a project I'm working with the Friendly Elec Nanopi R4S board for which I've to use the i2c bus to read data from a sensor. Unfortunately I've not been able to access it, since the system does not recognize it. I tried with different configurations using the /boot/armbianEnv.txt file with no results, however the i2c ports are enabled. To rule out functionality problems in the sensor, I connected it to other boards (e.g. nanopi Neo3 using Armbian) without problems. Do you have any idea what could be the cause of this problem? Thanks!
