  1. Hello everyone, I’m using a Radxa Zero 3E with Armbian 24.8.1 Bookworm OS and trying to connect a device to Radxa via UART. However, I can’t seem to find the ttyAML0 interface. The only UART interfaces visible are ttyS1 and ttyFIQ0 , but neither works for my setup. I have connected the device to the UART_AO_A pins (pins 8 and 10). Additionally, when I go to armbian-config -> System -> Hardware, no hardware appears on the screen. Could this issue be related to the Armbian image I am using? I’ve already tried the b6 image, but it has a boot problem. I also noticed that the other official Radxa images are marked as pre-release. …

In order to review the Tinker Board boot logs via serial console, I set up armbianEnv.txt to get the logs. But Armbian didn't output anything. Can anyone tell me what is wrong? As long as I reviewed boot.cmd, the serial port was assigned to /dev/ttyS2. So I used UART2 GPIO pins (GP7C7 for TX, GP7C6 for RX) to interact. (snip) if test "${console}" = "serial" || test "${console}" = "both"; then setenv consoleargs "console=ttyS2,115200n8 ${consoleargs}"; fi (snip) The barudrate is 115200. Of course, I re-checked my connection between USB-UART serial cable and UART2 GPIO pins (USB-UART RX to GP7C7TX, USB-UART TX to GP7C6 RX). Any infor…

  8. Hello everyone, I'm a newcomer to ARMBIAN, and I'm eager to transition from my current stock Odroid (20.04) setup (petitboot full nvme SSD) to a more up-to-date distribution, complete with the latest kernel upgrades. I've taken the time to go through the documentation and here's what I've gathered: It appears that native booting from an nvme SSD or USB isn't possible (yet?). Instead, I'll need to use microSD cards or an emmc module for booting while installing the system on an nvme SSD. I also understand that deactivating petitboot is necessary. Now, I have a few questions: Q1: Do I have a correct understanding of these two p…

  11. Hello, I have 2 questions. 1. How long does the support for the tinkerboard takes. Because I'm using the Board as Server and i don't need much CPU Power but I don't like to buy every 2-4 years a new board because the support ended. The reason of this question is, the odroid c1, there is no stretch image for this board. 2. Is there a good howto, how to build a kernel on a thinkerboard with own config? Reason for this question is, I have installed the latest armbian stretch server image on my tinker board and the kernel has no ebtables support. Second Reason ist question 1, build a own Kernel and update to Debian 10,11, ...., n.

  13. Greetings everyone. I hope to receive some assistance here. Our company is a small Linux cloud gaming provider that uses the Cinnamon edition of Linux Mint for our cloud gaming services https://maximumsettings.com/ . We are searching for an affordable local streaming device that we can recommend to our clients, capable of decoding H.265 at 4K - 80Mbps. The Orange Pi 5 is a perfect fit for this role, and the Armbian Cinnamon desktop is well-suited since our clients already use Linux Mint Cinnamon edition on the cloud Gaming PC. However, there is currently no support for our open-source streaming client, Moonlight, which we use as the default option for our clients. T…

  16. So, if you use the mainline DTSI files, you'll encounter an issue when loading the Mali Midgard GPL kernel module, since the main ARM kernel maintainers changed how the "compatible" properties of Midgard GPU nodes should be defined. Don't ask me why, they created an entire documentation stating that now the Mali Midgard GPU nodes have to harbour the chip series number, a vendor-specific statement, and drop the "arm,mali-midgard" property. The additions are nice, since they allow a quick detection of the chip number and the chip vendor using /sys nodes names. However, turns out that the Mali kernel driver used the dropped property to detect the GPU. So, I've …

  19. Hello!! I just got my Orange Pi 5 the other day and am trying to 'port' a program I've been working on for RPi4b over to this new board. The program is using ffmpeg to decode h264 and hevc video streams. My main question is how do I need to configure the ffmpeg codex context and formats to make use of (ideally zero copy) HW accelerated video decode on Orange Pi 5? For the raspberry code I was using these: avcodec_find_decoder_by_name("hevc"); and avcodec_find_decoder_by_name("h264_v4l2m2m"); together with codec_context->pix_fmt = AV_PIX_FMT_DRM_PRIME; // for zero copy video path But this does not work when compil…

Result: Getting no records on UART after "Starting kernel..." and only red led shining. - 2 way Enabling kernel updates from already up to date Armbian v25.2.2 with older 5.15.76-rockchip64 (`# sudo armbian-config` -> System -> Kernel -> SY201 - Install alternative kernels) Result: same as above - 3 way Enabling kernel updates from older Armbian 22.08.10 without Armbian update itself.…

The idea is simple, if your RK3399 board crashed recently, you just : Write what happened during the crash; Provide the link you got from sudo armbianmonitor -u , after the crash happened; Provide the content of /var/log/kern.log (if this file is present on your system) (attach it or copy the content on pastebin and link it here). No discussion here. Feel free to create a new dedicated thread afterwards to talk about the problem you encountered. Minor issues are welcome too, if they trigger a BUG message in your logs…

  44. Hello! Iv'e just done a test run installing Armbian for booting off my new m.2 nvme drive. As 'm planning to have the drives 2nd large partition as my basic home file server I'm wondering if I can as easily re-install the OS if/when I need to update it to a newer one? Because the instructions I followed and that I see around do a very basic cat /dev/mmcblk1 > /dev/nvme0n1 onto the raw un-partitioned nvme. My case will be that I have data on a partition on that drive that needs to stay. Is this going to be an issue or are there ways to re-install Armbian or even other distro on the boot partition? Looking at RK3288 on Armbian and the power/thermals - which are considerable considering SBC's like tinkerboard and miqi Currently - looks like all cores are following the same power/time domain - so one core goes fast, and the others follow, so sucks power and raises temps, and we get heat soaked quickly... 55. I played a bit with the SenseHAT from the RPi guys. Doesn't work fully but I get the first things working. What does run: Joystick 8x8 led matrix (partly, seems that there are some parts of the framebuffer not fully working) What doesn't run: all the sensors attached on the board What's missing: load it devicetree overlay (at the moment it's coded into the main dts) how-to what's needed to get it working on your tinker too I'll keep you updated.

I have a working system booting on NVME (when no SD card inserted), with two partitions nvme0p1 (256Mb) and nvmeop2 (40Gb) I would like to clone my working system on a SD card. How shall I proceed? I am not asking details instruction, only the rough path I should follow (e.g. dd partitions, tune2fs ......). PS: I thought it would be easy, but whatever I do, the system keep taking /boot on the nvmeop1, so I really struggle to boot on the /boot of the SD card

  59. Hello! I’m trying to get a RockPi S connected by a slow ethernet connection with 10mbps (half or full duplex) but it doesn’t seem to work. If I test with a 100mbps connection, everything works fine and as expected. Using 10mbps, it seems to look fine, e.g. ethtool shows a link with 10mpbs, advertised modes look fine but the RockPi S doesn’t even retrieve an IP via DHCP. If configuring a static IP, no ping to any address beside the own IP address is possible. I’m using latest debian-based armbian 23.8.1 stable and performed apt-get update & upgrade. Anyone encountered the same problem and has some hints? Unfortunately I’m not a linux pro so unfortunatel…

I noticed it freezes when transferring .img from micro SD card to eMMC or NVMe drives via the command line. Now the img file are armbian OS and no its not the img file issue. at times I can get it to around 70seconds and it will freeze. hard reboot is required, unable to complete the transfer. I have also tried to reduce the bs=10 speed but still the same. Now i have also got the 16GB version and this works fine with no issues... Good chance there is something wrong with this latest hardware..…

I know that it's possible because exists one HOW-TO of this for Raspberry Pi 3b+. I wanna that someone, with knowledge in Armbian and Tinker Board, build (adapt) this DTS on GITHUB https://github.com/fbeltrao-br/mksts35/blob/main/mksts35v2.dts. Question: what is the reason the main OPI5 download is now back to Jammy in stead of Bookworm? And what would be the advantages of going back from Bookworm to Jammy? (Got the aluminium passively cooling case for the OPI5, so far it's been great, 10 minutes of stresstesting all 8 cores doesn't get above 70 degrees celsius. For reference my…
