Today I decided to update my kernel to 6.3.9 with the mainline ubuntu kernel/ppa https://ubuntuhandbook.org/index.php/2020/08/mainline-install-latest-kernel-ubuntu-linux-mint/ However this does not work if you have disk-encryption . After rebooting and being greeted by enter your password, it did not work claiming its missing the dm_mod module. This is the device-mapper module needed by cryptsetup to create a device in /dev/mapper/ After running unmkinitramfs on the 6.3.9 kernel /usr/lib/modules/6.3.9/kernel/drivers/md/dm-mod.ko was indeed missing. Is this normal for mainline ubuntu kernels ? and does anyone know how…

  2. Hello! First off, thanks for the amazing product you all have created - huge props to everyone who contributes! I have been trying to get Armbian completely working on my Orange Pi 5b for a week now. Most notably: WiFi. Just a few moments ago I set up a new build of Armbian again, on an empty SD card. The one from https://www.armbian.com/orangepi-5/, Armbian 23.5 Jammy Gnome, as the more recent builds' armbian-config don't seem to have an option to enable overlays. After doing the default setup (user, locale, and it asks for "connect via wifi?" but shows no WiFi devices), I ran armbian-config. I go to System -> Hardware, b…

  4. Hi I found the following page https://www.armbian.com/rockpi4/ but I guess those files are for rock pi 4 and not rock pi 4 c? It has a link to 4 c plus images https://fi.mirror.armbian.de/dl/rockpi-4cplus/archive/ but they only contain bullseye? So are there any plans for rockpi 4 c plus to have a bookworm image? Are there any github pipelines that build them where I could send a pull request? (not that my c or c++ compilation skills are existing but I would be happy to give it a try).

I did follow the steps to extract that file from an official image but I can't trace the source anymore. Also any update on the availability of the 23.5 images in the apt? I just switched my release to nightly but it still shows 23.02 Thanks Erik

  14. So, I tried to adapt @Kwiboo and @jernej patches on my 5.6 branch, but this made the kernel fail to boot for no visible reason. Since I were able to boot it without the VPU patches, I'm convinced that it's their readaptation that broke something. The patches applied are here : https://github.com/Miouyouyou/RockMyy64 If someone wants to play with them and determine which one break the boot process.

I've built everything into the kernel that I can think of: Device Drivers ---> [*] USB support --> [*] USB Type-C Support --> ** built everything other than alternative mode / display port drivers [*] PHY Subsystem ---> ... First of all I tested the Board on a Raspberry Pi (with Raspbian) there it is working as expected so it is not a hardware issue. I connected my board MOSI = GPIO2_B2 (Pin 29), MISO = GPIO2_B1 (Pin 31), CS = GPIO2_B4 (Pin 33), Clock = GPIO2_B3 (Pin 7). The matter is that it sometimes works and the correct data is received but just once in a while. For me it seems that the CS is not working properly but how to get SPI communication working correctly? In the attached screenshot the value 744 is the correct value, i …

What gives with the Armbian website links? Links to all previous versions Armbian for the OrangePi R1 Plus LTS have been removed. The links to SHA hash and PGP signature do nothing. I was hoping to use an image that was based on Debian Bullseye, but that link has been recently removed. It is possible to create my image, but I would spend my time working on my code, not wading through the options to create an image.

  33. Brand new out of box, the wireless works fine on the orange android os. I then downloaded the orange os aarch64 image and installed. It was the latest. Wireless did not work, but after a couple lines of code/commands it did. I had to add a line to the orangepienv.txt file that was dealing with overlays. After that and a reboot it worked fine. BUT it is seriously boxed in. That is, because of lack of aarch64 support I could not download what I needed...so I tried debian which worked ok, but had issues with processing streaming video over 480p...anything higher I was having screen stutter and ripping plus their was artifacts everywhere. 36. My Helios64 NAS is suddenly randomly just, stopping. It appears to be totally random. It doesn't appear to be some form of actual shutdown as the front panel lights all stay on. I lose all access including the serial console. The only way to reboot is a long press on the power button to actually physically reboot the box. I've cranked the verbosity up to 7 in /boot/armbianEnv.txt in case something is output on the serial console but I've not seen any useful output yet but for obvious reasons it's hard to catch it happening. 53. I have a jammy Armbian install on one of the (really) new IndieDroid Nova devices. I have changed /etc/gdm3/custom.conf, setting AllowRoot=true and /etc/pam.d/gdm-password, disable root quiet setting. Typical of what you do for Debian to enable explicit user/password input of the Gnome greeter. But with Armbian jammy, I still only get the default 'ttt' user forced on me, and the only value I can enter is the password for ttt. How to get the user list to appear so I can select ANY user and enter the password?

Device: Orange Pi 5B OS: Armbian 23.5.0-trunk.135 Bookworm Pipewire devices listed using pactl list sources only lists a single input device, which I think corresponds to the headphone jack input device. There should be 2 input devices, one for the onboard MIC and one for the headphone mic. When trying to test the onboard mic with arecord -l the audio is completely silent which indicates that the only device enumerated by arecord actually corresponds to the headphone MIC Unforunately, I don't recall if the original OrangePi OS had both mic options listed or not, but I can check if necessary. Hi, I have a USB device that periodically hangs. Reboot or re-plug helps, but I need something lighter. I've seen several discussions on the problem of resurrecting hanging USB devices, but their solutions seems devices specific. Non on them worked in my case. I tried ioctl with USBDEVFS_RESET among other methods. uhubctl didn't work too (it seems it only sees EHCI hub, while my device is USB3.0 and connected to XHCI). Ideally the solution should depower a single USB connector to let the device fully reset and then get it connected back.

HDMI worked randomly, maybe every 10th...15th boot lead to a working system, or rather to a visible HDMI-connection. But now switching on-off does not help at all. 2. Quite often one can get the board booting to the point where it asks for the password, and after clicking ok, it switches the screen off, and won't return. So the telly says that "no signal". 3. When switching on the board the tv set sees that there's someone on the hdmi port, and shows the booting sequence, and finally goes to Armbian's graphical mode asking for t…
