I am currently using a completely outdated system on my Odroid-C1, specifically Ubuntu 16.04.7 LTS and I am able to transmit signals without issues using lirc 0.9.0. Hi. Looking for help. I have uploaded Armbian v6.12 Desktop Ubuntu to a card and run on my device. You can see in the screenshot (video of the boot here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1_1dm1rP33tbYISPUsta7nZV1eKPy3Plq/view?usp=drive_link) that some rubbish is displayed. I would also add that the device is sending a signal that is only displayed by the TV. No other monitor in the house is able to display anything that is sent from the device. This is even stranger, as when I upload the old ubuntu 18.04 to the same card, the device connected under any display displays my desktop. Any suggestions or suggestions? Maybe an older version? I want to make myself a RetroPi …

Introduction: I used Armbian Imager to flash Armbian 26.8.1 XFCE onto my Le Potato AML-S905X-CC-V1.0-A. Problem: On boot of the Le Potato, I could see the setup text via HDMI output on my monitor. But after setup was complete, the HDMI output would stop and my monitor would go to sleep. There was no longer HDMI output after initial boot. Solution: So I needed to SSH in over ethernet and run these commands to resolve this issue: echo "blacklist simpledrm" | sudo tee /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-simpledrm.conf sudo update-initramfs -u sudo reboot This fixed my HDMI output issue and I can use my Le Potato b…

Just a warning for everyone, the new kernel update (6.18.xx I think?) absolutely wrecks the system (atleast it does on Ubuntu Noble). It doesn't boot at all anymore I needed to recover an old kernel from an old backup I had and overwrite the current kernel from rescue mode/petitboot. Kernel 6.12.xx seems to work fine(ish) Just a heads up because I don't know enough to pinpoint the exact cause. p.s. for me the kernel means the files in /boot not sure if I used proper terminology

I have an Odroid HC4 I've used as a NAS. Back around 2021, it worked fine. I think I installed plain armbian back then and installed openmediavault on top of it. Then I did all kinds of updates to it. I believe it's now on a hybrid of Debian Bookworm and Debian Trixie - don't ask. The update mechanism is not super clear. I wanted to run a fresh, plain Armbian and install dietpi. But there is a well documented flaw where Armbian cannot exit boot in some cases. In my case, it happens only when SATA drives are attached. I have two WD Red drives that it can't boot with those attached. It seems like the bootloader code was changed over time…

With the most recent minimal Debian image, Armbian_26.2.1_Bananapim2s_trixie_current_6.18.15_minimal.img on my A311D, I hit a problem with Xorg. Instead of starting up into dwm via lightdm's autologin, all I got was the blank blinking cursor screen. Working through it with an LLM, the resolution worked out to be adding a stanza to Xorg.conf. Section "ServerFlags" Option "AutoAddGPU" "false" EndSection Is this the correct solution? Is this known or understood? I know nothing about any of this. I presume it's related to how the devices look to Xorg via the kernel, but I have no understanding beyond that level, if that's even correct.

Hello! I recently ran updates on the old M2S I won from here, and that appeared to break my OS, so I went back to try reinstall. And that's where I hit a snag. For some reason, after booting, the kernels refuse to see the partitions on the SD card. /dev/mmcblk0 exists, but none of the subpartitions, and so the boot process cannot find the partition it's supposed to boot from. Neither Armbian_25.5.1_Bananapim2s_trixie_current_6.12.32_minimal.img.xz nor Armbian_26.2.1_Bananapim2s_trixie_current_6.18.15_minimal.img.xz get me past this issue. I have three identical Odroid HC 4 which has been running the same software and using the kernel 6.12.32-current-meson64. I was do the following to test and validate the issue: I have disable the fancontrol service and manually written to hwmon2/pwm1 to set the PWM. Which was possible on the health…

Hi all, after installing the latest version of Armbian (Jammy 6.1.11 desktop) I found that HDMI monitor audio is not working. With the Ubuntu MATE version of odroid the audio worked. Armbian seems more powerful and its look is much better than MATE, I hope I can solve all the problems because I don't want to go back to MATE anymore, How can I make HDMI audio work? Thanks in advance... PS. I have already updated the firmware to full with the WiFi USB stick problem which has since been resolved

Armbian recently merged and will be releasing (and backporting) a patched devicetree file for the Odroid C4 and HC4 that eliminates the second power-cycle "glitch" during boot. Hopefully this will fix at least one issue people have been reporting, where some HDDs (or other devices) do not react well to rapid power double-tap during boot. https://github.com/armbian/build/blob/main/patch/kernel/archive/meson64-6.19/board-odroid-sm1-regulators-boot-on.patch It will also be released (and likely backported) upstream in next Linux kernel release and/or fixes. Also, something else people have been reporting is the HC4 struggling to spin up two l…

In my quest to use an ODROID N2 as a time server, I had to figure out how to enable UART_EE_A. Device trees for other boards sometimes enable UART A in the base device tree but the ODROID N2/N2+ does not. I am not sure why device trees don't fully define devices like UART_A and then just leave them disabled instead of partially defining them with missing "pinctrl" entries (as in the N2 device tree). Anyway, I've attached `meson-g12b-odroid-uart-ee-a.dtso` as an example of how to enable UART_EE_A. Additionally: The DT overlays for Meson UARTs (e.g. `/boot/dtb/amlogic/overlay/meson-uartA.dtbo`) are not compatible with …

This is NOT a support request, more of a brag. Needing a backup system, I was enamored of the low power requirements to run the bpi-m5. But they have no sata ports to drive bigger SSD's. But I bought a 5 stack of 4Tb TMSC built SSD drives at $200/copy, figuring on using a USB3.2 hub and startech's usb3.2 to sata adaptors, a big drive cage and a 50 watt 5 volt psu. More than 3 drives plugged in was too much current for the hub, itgot hot & shut down, so I bought another hub & glued it to the otherside of the drive cage. Problem solved. Printed the shelves to hold the drives and a BPI-m5. I configured the 5 SSD's into a software raid6 of 11TB. A friend that i…

bringing up a BIG 3d printer from square one on a bpi--m5 with a fairly new image. The pager requires 10 or more mouse clicks, starting with the _ . . . . . at the upper left corner of what I think is the default xfce4 screen. All the eye candy and mouse clicks to actually switch workspaces are very distracting when one is trying to configure klipper. Can all this be reduced to a single click on the dot representing that workspace in the micro-pager? The eye candy is impressive to visiting frogs, until its a PITA when actually doing work. We buy these things in 6 pack qty's to do work, and give you a small monthly support, but impressing the frog…

bananaoi-m5, Armbian 25.8.1 bookworm installed I can login via ssh as first user, gene, and sudo -i just fine. Buuuttttttt, at reboot the local screen ask's for the pw for amandabackup, a user lock down tightly which has never had a pw assigned. as its intended to be pw--less for the amanda backup system. What miss-configure can cause this????? Also I ordered 2 more of the keyboard/mouse combo''s which are the same as I'm using with a similar install for klipper running a 3d printer, but the dongle doesn't init when plugged in ack dmesg output, refusing its on discovery assigned address. So no keyboard/mouse is locally possible. I'll unpack the 2nd identical…

I have a Odroid C2 that was being used as a TV box with Coreelec, and has now been retired due to upgrade. I want to repurpose the C2 for a completely different role, so I am trying to install Armbian in it. I downloaded the Armbian image from here and followed the official install instructions, but the C2 refuses to boot. The red light turns on when powered but nothing more happens, no other lights, no screen, nothing. Coreelec was booting with no issue, so it must be something I'm setting wrong. Just in case I tried a different SD card and two different images, Bookworm minimal (the one I'm interested in) and Ubuntu Noble XFCE (just to test). Sam…

Hi everyone, I'm trying to control an 5v PWM Fan using hardware PWM pins of Banana Pi M5. I'm not able to output any pwm signal on any pin. It looks like there is an pwm controller visible at `/proc/device-tree/soc/bus@ffd00000/pwm@19000`. File `/proc/device-tree/soc/bus@ffd00000/pwm@19000/status` has content `okay` and file `/proc/device-tree/soc/bus@ffd00000/pwm@19000/pinctrl-0` has content `&`. Hi, A Firefox configuration file seems missing in Lepotato images derived from Debian because a failure message is raised after starting Firefox. A firefox.conf file should be placed in /etc/armbian . An issue has been raised in the geckodriver repository of github.com/mozilla giving more details: https://github.com/mozilla/geckodriver/issues/2167

I can not reiterate enough just how easy it is to "clone" your modified emmc, or microSD card OS, ... into an image file that you can easily restore with (balena)Ethcher afterwards, and all withiin Linux. 1:/ you'll need a USB-card-reader-adapter. 2:/ no matter how your USB-reader card reader sees your emmc, microSD card, ..., it'll most likely be mounted on a /dev/sda1 partition. 3:/ sudo dd bs=4M if=/dev/sda of=~/tmp/armbian_odroidc4_11_01_2025.img (you don't dd the partition, you dd the drive). 4:/ (optionally) sudo xz -v armbian_odroidc4_11_01_2025.img (this will take some time). ...and that's it, ... and you know the rest.

Hi everyone, I'm experiencing a severe boot delay on my Banana Pi M5 running Server Armbian Image (v25.2.2 - Banana Pi M5 - Armbian Linux 6.12.21-current-meson64) when no HDMI monitor is connected. The board itself is working fine, but without an HDMI connection, the system takes several long minutes to complete the boot process. However, without a monitor, in headless mode , the boot process is significantly delayed several minutes (approx. 4 minutes). Blue led blinking normaly. Used HW and SW: Odroid N2+ 4GB with 32 GB eMMC Sandisk 32 GB SD card SW: Armbian_25.5.1_Odroidn2_bookworm_current_6.12.28_minimal.img If I write the image to the SD card (using Balena Etcher), the system boots up and works fine. If I write the image in the same way to the eMMC using an adapter (with Balena Etcher), the system does not boot – only the red LED stays on. Booting via SD card with system and boot files transferred to eMMC using armbian-install also doesn't work. The system fails to boot again. The switch on the N2+ is in the correct position. The eMMC module is functional – if I write CoreELEC or Android images to i…

Hello everyone, Upgrading from distro isn't supported officially but I tried it anyways and thought I should share my findings. In short, it worked for me. Others have reported issues so maybe we can figure out what causes these issues. My N2+ is fairly vanilla, so I didn't heavily modify it. Running 5.10.x kernel since that is recommended for de N2+ Step 1. Fully upgrade your system on Focal sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get upgrade sudo apt-get dist-upgrade Step 2. Shutdown you N2+ and make an image backup of your emmc using dd or Win32DiskImager in case something goes wrong Step 3. Boot up your N2+ a…

Can le potato run entirely on free software, such that there is no piece of non free software on the computer? If so are the armbian le potato images free software images? https://www.armbian.com/lepotato/ Thank you.

See https://github.com/canonical/netplan/pull/456#discussion_r1569065581 The way the netplan + networkd integration is designed requires all the network devices (wlan0 in particular) to exist at /sbin/init time - otherwise, the netplan generator disables `systemd-networkd-wait-online.service` which also causes `network-online.target` to be reached early. In particular, this breaks any network FS mounts on boot. Of note, I tried logging in to file the bug via the dev contribution platform, but it looks I'm blocked from JIRA access, so am filing it here instead.

I have been trying to diagnose a QHYCCD camera problem on a N2 running INDI server. Everything appears to work fine but after several minutes the device fails to respond. The device is only supported by QHY on a true USB3 slot. Looking on other forums USB and cable stability are a common problem with these QHY devices so falling onto the wrong USB bus would definitely be a problem. Hi, I'm curious, is there any qualitative difference between the dedicated application images and the Minimal image followed by a "normal" manual installation of the given application? For example OpenMediaVault (OMV) which comes with tailored installation instructions for Armbian. IOW, does the dedicated application image "only " take care of the OMV installation for you, or is there more to it which I might miss when installing OMV myself (on top of the minimal image)? Thanks!

Hi, I've been using the /dev/ttyAML1 UART port on my Odroid N2+ at the GPIO pins 8 and 10 with buster. With the update to bullseye, the /dev/ttyAML1 device disappeared. Also now in bookworm it is no longer present. Now I happen to need the UART at GPIO 8 and 10 again and did some more persistent research and came across this post over in the DietPI forum. It provided an alternative meson-g12b-odroid-n2-plus.dtb which I installed in my system. Since then my /dev/ttyAML1 device is back and I can use the UART at GPIO 8 and 10 as I wished. However, I am a bit nervous, since I just installed some binary dtb file to my system at a path which …

Armbianmonitor link: https://paste.armbian.com/igahozatow Everything boots and I can use armbian-config to connect to my local WiFi network, but the speeds are really really slow: iperf3 gives me ~40mbps pretty consistently: -------------------- [ ID] Interval Transfer Bitrate Retr [ 5] 0.00-10.00 sec 51.1 MBytes …

I have a brand new VIM4 NPU bare board in fanless aluminum case with power supply and Khadas cable. Khadas Ubuntu versions with gnome desktop work perfectly without any slowdown in both emmc and sd version but armbian desktops do not work! Only xfce (via oowow or latest armbian.com version) launches after several minutes but then presents slowdowns. All versions with cinnamon (oblique lines) and gnome (armbian logo) freeze after launching the desktop environment whether with an installation on emmc sd or usb… No problems with server versions, only desktop versions… I wonder if it is the fact of not having a fan and/or the NPU chip that makes the Armbian desktops…

Hello! I have installed on Armbian 24.8.1 noble (ubuntu 24.04) . Also I have enabled "UARTa" , "UARTc" in armbian-config utility. In /boot/armbianEnv.txt file: overlays=uartA uartC for enable UART port. There are many files /dev/ttyS[0-7] exists. After this I try connected to this ports, but no success (minicom -D /dev/ttySx). Python sripts with pyserial module output: "i/o error". The same problem I have noticed with previous versions of Armbian. I have checked on other distributive (Khadas version of ubuntu server) the uart port is worked fine. Does Armbia…

I would like to use the mmc commands available in uboot on this board. I am able to boot properly in this mode and "help" properly lists all the commands available in this mode. On my board Armbian is running in EMMC. When I invoke "mmc" or the "mmcinfo" commands the system replies with the following error: Card did not respond to voltage select If I insert an Sdcard in the slot these two commands do respond properly which implies that uboot is seeing the Sdcard as default. Is there a way to redirect these commands to the EMMC? Regards

Hi, I have problems from booting emmc of my 4/64GB radxa zero. I want to make fresh install and cleaned emmc completely. By following radxa guide, I flashed latest Armbian_24.8.1_Radxa-zero_noble_current_6.6.47.img.xz image from official site. But booting failing. I attached serial monitor and saved output. Boot process stops at line 215 and If I give "boot" command, It starts booting from emmc with same warnings. I'm attaching full log. By the way, I tried updating bootloader by using armbian-config utility but nothing changed. radxa_zero_serial.log

I am trying to set up a Banana Pi CM4 on a Bigtree Tech Manta M8P, which is a 3D printer board which has a socket for the CM4. However, I don't have the option to use a wired connection to the router or plug in a keyboard to interact with the CM4 on initial startup, so I get stuck at the set root password stage. Is there a way around this? I have tried using WSL to mount the SD card after burning, but I can't seem to access it there to change the files on the card directly. Ideally, I would like to burn Armbian with Wifi credentials already set so I can ssh from the start. I appreciate any help. Keep in mind that my Linux fu is about good enough to get Klipper…

I have just installed an Armbian Jammy CLI on my BPI-CM4. I need to use the UART that is routed to pins 8 and 10 on the 40-pin connector (UART_EE_B in the BPI-CM4 schematics). I have enabled it in the device tree by changing this from disabled to okay: serial@23000 { compatible = "amlogic,meson-g12a-uart\0amlogic,meson-gx-uart"; reg = <0x00 0x23000 0x00 0x18>; interrupts = <0x00 0x4b 0x01>; clocks = <0x12 0x02 0x2a 0x12>; clock-names = "xtal\0pclk\0baud"; status = "okay"; phandle = <0x12b>; }; Once rebooted, and new UART appears (ttyAML6). However, it does not work. What am I missing? …

Hello everyone, I'm currently working on a bananaPi M2S and trying to set up serial communication through the GPIO port on my device. I am using the provided overlay for UART-A. The overlay seems to work as it registers the serial device, as indicated by the dmesg output: bash [ 0.000277] printk: console [tty1] enabled [ 0.734433] ff803000.serial: ttyAML0 at MMIO 0xff803000 (irq = 14, base_baud = 1500000) is a meson_uart [ 0.734458] printk: console [ttyAML0] enabled [ 0.735241] ffd24000.serial: ttyAML6 at MMIO 0xffd24000 (irq = 15, base_baud = 1500000) is a meson_uart [ 0.735395] serial serial0: tty port ttyAML6 registered [ 2.663304] syste…
