hello, I found default armbian image will cause the CPU temperature very high. My cpu freq is setting 1Ghz and usage is around 20%, This should not cause the cpu to overheat. System Overview Hardware: ODROID HC4 OS: Armbian (current version) Kernel: 6.12.44-current-meson64 Use case: Production NAS with critical data Problem Description During apt upgrade, the following critical warnings appear: dpkg: warning: This system uses merged-usr-via-aliased-dirs, going behind dpkg's dpkg: warning: back, breaking its core assumptions. This can cause silent file dpkg: warning: overwrites and disappearances System state analysis reveals: /bin, /sbin, /lib are correct symlinks to /usr/* BUT: Files exist in duplicate (/bin/bash and /usr/bin/bash identical) DKMS cannot build kernel modules (missing headers)…

Hi, after the installation of the new kernel version (5.6.15-meson64) on my board (Le Potato), the display have ~1cm offset on the top of the monitor and ~1cm of non-visible element on the bottom. It is basically moved down by ~1cm from the center. I have already had this problem, but it "self solved" by updating the kernel, so i have no hint to solve the problem, only that it is very likely caused by something in the kernel. For the display i use an HDMI connector. I have attached the armbianmonitor log, if some more info are needed, you have only to ask. Thanks in advance for the time and dedicated effort. Have a good day! Edit: Wow,…

Hello! I have installed Armbian Bookworm on Khadas VIM3. Also I have enabled "UARTa" , "UARTc" in armbian-config utility. After reboot in file /boot/armbienEnv.txt I have checked options about uart (uarc). Also there are many files /dev/ttyS[0-7] exists. After this I try to connect "minicom -D /dev/ttyS0" (ttyS0, S1, and S3 etc). But no answer from my device on pins 15,16 OR 18,19 (this is a UARTA,UARTC, UART linux). Python sripts pyserial output: "i/o error". Does Armbian (Bookworm or Jammy) supports Khadas VIM3 UART? Are there successful cases? One more question: On Ubuntu Server files …

Hi, the system seems working normally, but when installing with apt, I get plenty of errors of: dpkg: cannot write to log file '/var/log/dpkg.log': No space left on device Digging into /var/log reveals that the ./journal directory is responsible; with 48 Mb. Any idea how to prevent this? Currently, I just remove the directory below ./journal.

I did'nt identify a dtbo on the distribution , a made a lot of investigation , pin 3 and 5 og the 40pins connector is connect to the cpu with pullup resistor , i try a lot dts conf and nothing gave result. If some one did this kind of connexion thanks in advance. Gérard

I've been trying to enable SPI on the board but have had no luck in this. I noticed that in the armbian-config there is no spi option. I have edited the armbianEnv.txt file to include orerlays = spi-spidev param_spidev_spi_bus = 0 I've tried changing the bus to 1 None of these actions have helped. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Which file or files do I need to edit to ssh into it without having to do initial setup first, please?

I have just installed an Armbian Jammy CLI on my BPI-CM4. I need to use the UART that is routed to pins 8 and 10 on the 40-pin connector (UART_EE_B in the BPI-CM4 schematics). In my quest to use an ODROID N2 as a time server, I had to figure out how to enable UART_EE_A. Device trees for other boards sometimes enable UART A in the base device tree but the ODROID N2/N2+ does not. I am not sure why device trees don't fully define devices like UART_A and then just leave them disabled instead of partially defining them with missing "pinctrl" entries (as in the N2 device tree). Anyway, I've attached `meson-g12b-odroid-uart-ee-a.dtso` as an example of how to enable UART_EE_A. Additionally: The DT overlays for Meson UARTs (e.g. `/boot/dtb/amlogic/overlay/meson-uartA.dtbo`) are not compatible with …

Armbian recently merged and will be releasing (and backporting) a patched devicetree file for the Odroid C4 and HC4 that eliminates the second power-cycle "glitch" during boot. Hopefully this will fix at least one issue people have been reporting, where some HDDs (or other devices) do not react well to rapid power double-tap during boot. https://github.com/armbian/build/blob/main/patch/kernel/archive/meson64-6.19/board-odroid-sm1-regulators-boot-on.patch It will also be released (and likely backported) upstream in next Linux kernel release and/or fixes. Also, something else people have been reporting is the HC4 struggling to spin up two l…

Hi, I've been using the /dev/ttyAML1 UART port on my Odroid N2+ at the GPIO pins 8 and 10 with buster. With the update to bullseye, the /dev/ttyAML1 device disappeared. Also now in bookworm it is no longer present. Now I happen to need the UART at GPIO 8 and 10 again and did some more persistent research and came across this post over in the DietPI forum. It provided an alternative meson-g12b-odroid-n2-plus.dtb which I installed in my system. Since then my /dev/ttyAML1 device is back and I can use the UART at GPIO 8 and 10 as I wished. However, I am a bit nervous, since I just installed some binary dtb file to my system at a path which …

Hi! You can find the armbianmonitor output attached to this thread. The issue is: when I use HDMI audio output with wine applications the entire system freezes very soon, usually after some seconds from the launch of the application. Some fraction of the latest played sound keeps looping very fast and both mouse and keyboard are unresponsive. All I can do is to unplug the power. This happens both on Odroid N2 and Odroid N2+. Everything works fine if I use some bluetooth headphones. And everything works fine if I use HDMI audio output with linux native applications. The problem is in the combination of Wine applications and HDMI audio output. Armbian Monitor Out…

Hello everyone, I've recently started migrating a project for Banana Pi M5 from Debian 10 Buster to Armbian, because I've found that the latest versions of it now support the GPU, Mali G31, and come with Panfrost OpenGL driver, which is crucial for this project. Everything was perfect until I had to implement two features: operating with TV via CEC and showing boot logo. Quickly about the last one - as I've understood, we have to use Plymouth, but I didn't really get how to do it, I've tried to activate it but had no success (how exactly see under paragraph). However, it doesn't work on Server Images (even on those that were compiled with build tools and activat…

I am trying to use radxa-zero with HDMI CEC support on Armbian debian. Hello folks. I am thinking about getting a VIM3 or VIM4 as a PC for computation purposes. I think Monero mining shows the limit of a combination of memory + cpu. The higher the more performant the combination of memory + cpu is. My choice is currently between a board like VIM3 or VIM4 or a desktop i5 9th gen. I will be thankful if an owner can xmrig monero mining software to do a benchmark. So to do the benchmark one should: - Download xmrig - Run a benchmark and submit it: https://xmrig.com/docs/miner/benchmark The benchmark will be available in the benchmarks page in xmrig website. Hi. I recently purchased a few DS18B20 sensors. I'm having troubles setting up 1-wire on the newest armbian: root@odroidn2:~# uname -a Linux odroidn2 5.8.5-meson64 #20.08.1 SMP PREEMPT Tue Sep 1 18:47:20 CEST 2020 aarch64 GNU/Linux My DS18B20 adapter is connected to "GPIOX_7(#)" as suggested on Odroid forum: https://forum.odroid.com/viewtopic.php?p=305664#p305664 Using the official Ubuntu 18.04 image with 4.9.230-76, I was able to find devices in "/sys/bus/w1/devices". I just got one so I have modified my version of htop for the Raspberry Pi to work on the AML-S905X-CC (Le Potato) that shows cpu temp and current frequency in case anyone is interested. Here's the GitHub : https://github.com/leeadama/htop/tree/lepotato See the Readme for Build Instructions. Once you have it built and installed, you add the temp and frequency display like any other meter. I.E. press F2, arrow all the way to the right and choose Temperature Sensors, press Enter to add it and Enter to confirm. Then just repeat the process for the FreqMeter. I'm testing the Armbian image for Odroid N2+ ( Armbian_22.08.7_Odroidn2_jammy_current_5.19.17_xfce_desktop) to see if it's a good migration path from the HardKernel base image. Unfortunately I need to get both i2c bus running on the GPIO and so far only the first bus seems to work (i2c-0). Looking into /sys/bus/i2c/devices , it looks like i2c-1 is tied to the hdmi port instead of the 2nd i2c bus on the GPIO : lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 0 Dec 31 1969 0-0051 -> ../../../devices/platform/soc/ffd00000.bus/ffd1c000.i2c/i2c-0/0-0051 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 0 Dec 31 1969 i2c-0 -> ../../../devices/platform/soc/ffd00000.bus/ffd1c000.i2c/i2c-0 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root …

What should the correctly enabled I2C service (for a 40x2 LCD) look like on Bananapim2pro? Should I edit the armbianEnv.txt file and add, for example, the following entry: overlays=i2c0 i2c1? I was curious if anyone had worked on power management for the S905X. My Le Potato was idling around 0.32A@5.1V = ~1.5W The LibreElec guys documented idle current ~2/3 of that here so I was curious what was going on. Of course I am running a 4.18 armbian kernel (I assume they were using a 3.14 kernel for their tests) so I was never going to match their numbers precisely, but 33% more power seemed like an awful lot. Then I realized I had a USB thumb-drive installed, so I did some experimentation... My numbers were generated using an inline USB power meter that measures pretty accurately compared to a bench meter. My initial findings: …

Hi, This is my first try to add a board to armbian build system. I got a BPI M2S since several months, but only had time recently to investigate on this promising SBC. I made a PR here, if somebody wants to try it: https://github.com/armbian/build/pull/4597 The main improvements are to be done for the dts file, since I'm not an expert about such file definition. Only 1 ethernet of the Gbit ports is working, since I copy the config from vim3 that share the same hardware for it. I didn't try to customize u-boot and I use the one for radxa zero2 that works to launch armbian on the board. armbianmonitor -u is here: https://paste.armbian.co…

I've spent the entire morning trying to boot armbian on a vim 3 basic. It won't boot from sdcard. I erased the emmc with krescue, no change except now it doesn't boot anything, except the krescue sdcard. I put the armbian image on a USB stick and tried to flash it to emmc With krescue but krescue says it's an invalid vim 3 image. I verified the Sha and I also tried using the extracted dot img file. Which isn't recognized by krescue. How do I boot an sdcard or flash the emmc When none of these things work? The only thing that boots now is the krescue sdcard. What am I doing incorrectly? What else can I try?

I have a ToupTek MU300 USB2 camera that I was trying to get working with my LePotato. The camera does not have native kernel support, but the manufacturer provides an SDK with a pre-compiled lib for x86/arm, and additionally I have a kernel module which works on X86/X64 with this camera as well as userspace libusb based code to access the camera. The camera is very sensitive to having buffers available during bulk transfer, otherwise the image will be corrupted. Generally synchronous bulk transfer is not fast enough, and requires multiple buffers supplied in asynchronous mode. On x86-64 and Rpi3/4, everything works as expected. I can grab im…

Hi guys. I'm the maintainer for the Khadas VIM3. There are 2 small issue's with the Armbian images for VIM3, and also for VIM2. armbianmonitor -u http://ix.io/46L9 First off, the VIM3 has all its cores clocked to 1.5Ghz by default. I created a Jira for that a while ago. https://armbian.atlassian.net/browse/AR-1094 My simple fix is in /etc/default/cpufrequtils MAX_SPEED=15xxxxxxx → MAX_SPEED=2400000 But I have no idea how/where to adjust this so it is correct for all VIM3 images. Then for VIM2 and VIM3 (maybe VIM3L and VIM1 too) the HDMI audio isn't working as it should. https://armbian.atlassian.net/browse/AR-1095 I once was…

I was trying Jammy (autobuild) with kerenl 5.15.18 on Khadas Vim3 4GB RAM, but is does not start, no HDMI output, no LED activity. Then I tried Hirsute with kerenl 5.13 and that boots fine, but after update new kernel (5.15) and also u-boot is installed and then it does not start again. My solution for now is to boot Hirsute with 5.13 and replace all edge packages with current (linux-dtb-current-meson64, linux-image-current-meson64, and linux-u-boot-khadas-vim3-current). This downgrades the kernel to 5.10.81, but the board can be updated and boots fine.

Hello, I have a La Frite 1gb. I have tried many PSUs , All 5V 3.0A which is supposed to be enough, I get no help in the la frite forum so i thought i would check in with you guys and see if anyone knows what the issue could be. I've recorded Armbian_20.11_Lafrite_focal_current_5.9.6.img.xz to an usb drive and booted it on La Frite with the latest firmware u-boot-2020-07-r7.bin from http://share.loverpi.com/board/libre-computer-project/libre-computer-board/aml-s805x-ac/firmware/. Armbian boots but text is almost unreadable. I guess, I have to tweak some linux boot parameters but I don't know how to do this without GRUB. I tried holding u-boot button during a launch of the board but it gives no effect. How should I edit kernel parameters on La-Frite? Is there any other solution?

Hi, I fixed the following issue for my own system for now, but wanted to let you know: After upgrading the LaFrite from Armbian Buster 20.08 to 20.11 using "apt upgrade" it didn't boot anymore. It showed a message "Ramdisk image is corrupt or invalid", so I checked /boot/uInitrd and it linked to uInitrd-5.9.6-meson64, which didn't exist. I fixed it by downloading the latest image and replacing everything in /boot except armbianEnv.txt with what was inside the image. Afterwards it booted again. I replaced everything, because the image apperently still is on linux 5.9.6, while vmlinuz and other files on my system showed 5.9.10. …

Hello All, Have a question, I see there is an option to use eMMC with the Le Potato aml-s905x-cc 1gb (which I got running yesterday), but what eMMC modules actually work with this board (I'm using a MicroSD card on my board at the moment)? So, I've been struggling to figure out the reason behind this problem. I have 4 Le Potatoes, all connected to a 100 mbps switch. Each of them have a 32 GB Samsung SD Card EVO. Initially, the problem was that my SSH session would hang at random usually when I download something. I can't SSH again unless I reboot the PI (I didn't bother waiting longer than 5min) Initially, I thought SD Cards were bad, I moved them around, done reinstalls. I'm also using SD Formatter to format them and Etcher to install them. Still, this freezing problem had no consistent behavior according to PI hardware or the SD cards.. For Power, I'm u…

Hello, I'm new to this world of SBC. I'm trying to learn as much as possible, and I realize maybe I should have started with a better documented board like the rPI. I guess I just like learning the hard way. I'm trying to use the GPIO pins on the board. Starting with baby steps, I'm looking to just simply turn on/off an LED via GPIO. I've been searching and poking around the /sys filesystem to try to understand how this works, but I'm having a hard time understanding which pins to expose via the export file, and what physical pins those map to. I see /sys/class/gpio/ has two chips, 0 and 10. I see gpiochip0 has 10 pins, and gpiochip10 has 101. Is t…

If I do i2cdetect -y 0 I don't see the device id I expect to 0x10 but I do see 0x30 and 0x50 which I shouldn't because there should only be one device at 0x10. I only see one i2c bus at /dev/i2c-0. Is that the i2c bus using header pins 3 and 5 which is where my device is attached? If not how would I enable the bus on pins 3 and 5?

Hello, I have been using the Le Potato for a while, and was able to save Armbian on an eMMC and boot from it. Then I tried putting another OS onto it but now it's no longer able to boot or recognize the eMMC module even when I go to Armbian settings. Please help me be able to use it again to continue tinkering around with it. Thanks very much!

I am trying to use Le Potato OTG port in a device mode (connected it to the host through powered USB hub). DWC2, which I am used to from RPi Zero is missing, but I guess it's because there is a DWC3. However, if I just modprobe gadget driver, let's say g_ether, nothing happens - no new interface in ifconfig, no detection on the host. Should I somehow reconfigure DWC3 to operate OTG in a peripheral mode? # lsusb -tv /: Bus 02.Port 1: Dev 1, Class=root_hub, Driver=xhci-hcd/0p, 5000M /: Bus 01.Port 1: Dev 1, Class=root_hub, Driver=xhci-hcd/2p, 480M |__ Port 1: Dev 2, If 0, Class=Hub, Driver=hub/4p, 480M |…

I've tried shutdown -h now, poweroff, shutdown -h, all results in a reboot instead of shutdown. I've searched and haven't found a solution, just other people with the same problem. I'm running "Armbian_24.2.1_Lepotato_bookworm_current_6.6.16_cinnamon_desktop.img", has anyone found a solution to this problem? I tried raspbian on the le potato and that will shut down but gives me other issues when installing openhabian. Armbian just seems to work otherwise but I'd like a clean way to shutdown when needed so I don't risk corrupting my sd card.

Hello there! Are there any webcams that the Le Potato supports on Armbian? Thanks for the assistance!

So Le Potato (and Sweet potato) take about 10 seconds before reaching systemd. Is there a way to speed this up? I've tried putting boot_delay=0 as well as console=serial in armbianEnv.txt in hope of shortening the time in u-boot, but these didn't change anything. I've also tried building this image with no initramfs and no loadable module support.
