  1. Hello, i'm using Armbian 23.11 Jammy-amazingfated Gnome. Kernel 5.10 If to seek a couple of times in h264 1080p BD remux'es it will cause system restart. Any video players are affected. Tried mpv, vlc, kodi and others. Problem affect just h264 1080p remuxes, that typically are 30..40 Gb, smaller h264 or even larger h265 files seem to work fine. I tried fresh install of armbian, where no rkmpp is installed, then h264 files plays/seeks fine, in software mode of course. Once I did sudo update/upgrade, that also installs rkmpp and other rockchip stuff, then videos start to play with rkmpp and problem is back. I've tried disabling hw deco…

  2. I just installed with the latest KDE image, but I'm able to reproduce this with any of the images available. After going through the initial configuration, wifi works great. I updated apt and upgraded everything. Then I installed the armbian-firmware-full package. After rebooting wifi still works. Then I setup Bluetooth for my mouse and keyboard. They work correctly. After rebooting I no longer see any networks to connect to for wifi. If I disable Bluetooth and reboot wifi works again and so does Bluetooth. Is this an issue of daemons or drivers loading in the wrong order?

  8. Hi all, looking for a bit of advise. I had an idea recently in that I have a problem of syncing a 20Tb USB 3.0 RAID0 drive with a 20Tb NAS. I have two fully duplicated RAID0 drives with no protection, so whenever I upgrade the capacity of a drive, I do a full sync. I do this maybe once a year. Whenever I have to do a full sync however it usually ties my MacBook up for a few weeks to transfer that much data over, so I had the idea recently of having a maker board do it since Linux/Armbian supports HFS+, I can just do an rsync between the two. I opted to purchase a Tinkerboard for the GigE Ethernet (I'll live with the USB 2.0), installed, up and running all…

  20. What is the current status of Pinebook Pro? I see there were Pinebook-Pro-specific install images for older version of Armbian, but there doesn't appear to be any for more recent versions, and currently, the download page points to (non-machine-specific?) For example, I recently ordered a big batch of Rock S0 boards, but they had to be delivered with Sandisk iNAND 32GB emmc drives instead of the typical 8GB option. The problem is that Armbian did not reliably boot on these new boards. It randomly gets stuck during initialization with the onboard LED endlessly blinking. Some boards works, some did not, some only works sometimes. Long story short, in case other people also have this problem: I found the solution. I believe it is caused by Armbian's Rock S0 device tree enabling the HS200 high speed mode for t…

On Raspberry Pi 4 with a larger boot partition I switch content of /boot from boot/debian /boot/gentoo, have multiple partition on SATA SSD connected via USB edit root parameter in /boot/cmdline.txt and that way I choose which distro to boot. On Orange PI 5 (Plus) I read that SPI chip have to be flashed to choose the boot device fro…

  54. Hi @ all, long time reader, but never managed to register. Now it is time... as I'm not able to solve this myself, kindly asking for help. 56. Hi guys, I created another device tree overlay that I needed, to enable two user leds on GPIO. Specifically GPIO0_B7 and GPIO0_C0, which is pins 27 and 28 on the header. Posting it here in case someone needs it, like I did with with the SPIdev overlay too. Here it is: rk3308-user-leds.dts What I needed this for is ethernet port LEDs, since the original connector does not include them. To get standard ethernet LED behavior on these newly defined LEDs, you can do this (you need su access): modprobe ledtrig-netdev echo "netdev" > /sys/class/leds/rock-s0\:orange\:user1/trigger echo "netdev" > /sys/class/leds/rock-s0\:green\:user2/trigger e…

  57. The page for the NanoPi R76S has also an edge kernel (6.18) image. I noticed some issues related to sdcard and emmc. I know edge images are not officially supported and that is fine. But given the image is available I would like the parameters/configuration/conditions for the current available image. Could you explain the background or assumptions behind the 6.18 edge image for the R76S? (e.g., test conditions you used when building it)

  58. I have an interesting discovery that smells suspiciously like a kernel bug. I find it easiest to see this bug by running btop which shows a historical per core cpu usage graph so it's easy to see when one stops being used. You can see the same thing in ordinary top but it's less easy to see than with btop. I have a Radxa Rock 5B with an RK3588 chip that I have been stress testing to make sure the hardware is OK before I start to use it in anger. As part of that I ran `openssl speed -multi 8` to spin up 8 threads using 100% cpu each. On all other machines that I've ever done that with it runs all X cores at 100% until it runs out of tests or is Ctrl-C'ed. Watch…

  59. I have spent a considerable amount reading docs and getting my head around building a custom default kernel & desktop image. Patching the kernel and optimising the desktop environment is working well. The remaining question is: How do I select a specific - kernel 4.4.174 (based on armbian-release 5.75) ? It defaults to 4.4.176 and 5.86.

  61. Hey everyone, I'm starting to lose my mind here. I've got an Orange Pi 5 which works great with a micro SD card. Now I got myself a nvme ssd and all I want to do is move my system from the sd card to the ssd. I've created an image of the sd card on my PC using "dd" and then wrote it on the ssd using dd again. It seemed to work fine, the only issue seems to be, that the UUID of the partitions on the ssd were the same as on the sd card, that's why I changed the UUID of the root partition on the ssd using "tune2fs -U random /dev/nvme0n1p2". I booted up the Pi with my sd card again and used armbian-config to flash mtdblock0 (boo…

  63. Hi, SD card did not load Armbian_25.8.1_Orangepi5_trixie_current_6.12.41_xfce_desktop. I noticed that in boot.cmd line 9 , rootdev is defined as /dev/mmcblk0p1. Should that be /dev/mmcblk0n1 or /dev/mmcblk0n1p1? I note that this file should not be edited and the armbianEnv.txt only refers to rootdev=UUID=7e27c862-0a39-41cd-891e-7d77ff7968fd. Is this an error or am I off course? If so where do I correct it? cheers

Hello OPI5 users. Running Joshua Riek's Ubuntu distro, I keep getting stability issues. Perhaps because I keep using Xorg. Perhaps because hardware acceleration is buggy. In the past I used super stable Armbian OPI5 distro's without hardware acceleration. Infact I still use Armbian on another RK3588 box, I don't think it has EVER crashed, running docker, Mosquito, HomeAssistant, and a buch of other things. Now that my Orange Pi 5 gets a slightly more serious use as webserver, I really like to get rid of the unpredictable Xorg crashes, and gladly would sacrifice HW acceleration for stability. My situation is this: Using JR Ubuntu Because I …

I have tons of ARM SBCs from a few years back because I think they're fascinating but they either wind up being too slow or just not worth using it for whatever since x86 "SBC like" boards exist and are pretty cheap. To get it to work in 23.02.2: First you have to enable the rk3328-opp-1.5ghz overlay in armbian-config (System > Hardware > rk3328-opp-1.5ghz) or just add it to the overlays line in /boot/armbianEnv.txt and reboot. 95. Hy all, For some time now I have a Rock 5b + with 16Gig memory. The problem I have is playback video' s in youtube. Video's are not even watcheble in the lowest resolution. Other 4k video' s play fine. I tried several bechmark video' s from online sources. I looked around to see if others experiance the same problem but cannot find anny clu in this matter. I use Armbian ver. 25.5.1 Do others have the same issue? Is there a soltion for this problem? Also I find this board not the fastest. It's a bit faster than mi RPI5 with 4Gig mem. The PI5 plays HD on youtube. I also have a OrangePi 5 ultra with 16 gig memory on stock Orangepi ubu…

  97. My Libre Computer Renegade wouldn't boot from its pluggable eMMC this morning. I worked around the issue by booting from an SD card, setting up a chroot environment for the eMMC card, and switching to an older kernel on the eMMC. Obviously, it would be better if the current kernel supported booting from eMMC. This may be related to and

  98. Hello everyone, I flashed the armbian into my tf cand and inserted it into my OrangePi 5 Plus, with my fans inserted to the specific socket on board (2pin, 1.25mm, 5V, PWM3_IR_M1). However, when I booted it, the fans was running constantly instead of controlled by temperature dynamically, like the official OS images that did only the fans running when the temperature over 50 celsius. I wanna know how to configure my OS to enable the temperature-controlled fans like the official images. The offical documents shows: Linux uses the default pwm-fan drivers to control thye fans and the device tree was defined in orange-pi-5.10-rk3588/arch/arm64/boot/dts…

  99. When running PassMark on my Rock Pi S running Armbian 25.11, the system completely freezes, including the serial console. The blue TF card read/write LED stays lit, and OOM events are visible on the serial console. This freeze typically lasts over half an hour before the system recovers as the blue LED turns off. OOM events also occur on the stock kernel 4.4 system, but it doesn't freeze. I really don't want to use the 4.4 kernel system, but how can I optimize it? Below is my system configuration and log output: Translated with DeepL.com (free version) pi@Pi-s:~$ uname -a Linux Pi-s 6.12.58-current-rockchip64 #3 SMP PREEMPT Thu Nov 13 20:34:41 UTC 2025 …

  100. After upgrading armbian to 26.2.1 with kernel 6.18.10 performances on WAN interface dropped to 20Mbps for a single TCP connection. The interface is end0, renamed from eth1, driver from ethtool -i is "st_gmac". I used armbian-config to rollback to kernel 6.12.58 and performances are ok now. Will it be fixed in the future kernels ?
