  1. I try to understand the usage of Tinkerboard for Industrial Application usage, we have below questions. 1. Operating temperature is between 0-60 C [as many Industrial PLCs recommend 0-55 C only] 2. Long Term Supply of the Boards 3. Bulk Quantities buying [Get 30 to 50 boards in 2-4 weeks notice] The board and quality seems top notice, RPI interface is good for our use cases, anyone sees a risk in above points or would like to suggest something? We are looking a good sized community, Ubuntu OS, much stable and better performing board compared to Raspberry PI, all seems good with Tinkerboard. Please share your idea…

  2. Here in the forum the psu mod for the roc-rk3328-cc board was discussed. Does anyone know where I can find instructions on how to do this exactly?

  3. I did a fresh install of armbian jammy 23.5 cli on my orangepi 5 (I previously used 22.11 and 23.02), and I cannot reboot. "sudo reboot" just hangs the system. Not really a big deal, just somewhat annoying, because previous versions runs fine. Anybody else experiencing the same problem? "armbianmonitor -U" output is attached. armbianu.txt

  4. New OPI5+, unable to finish install because ethernet doesn't work. I haven't been able to figure it out and my searches turned up nothing. journalctl has the following messages: - hpptx phy lane locked! - rk_gmac-dwmac fe1c0000.ethernet error: no phy at addr -1 - stmmac_open: cannot attach to phy (error -19) I've checked power supply, cables, edited the interfaces file, and more , with no success. I have an Orange Pi 5 that I can swap as is in its place and everything works. Coupled with the fact that I couldn't find mention of the errors, I'm hoping that someone can help me before I give up and return the OPI5…

  5. I installed Debian 12 (Bookworm)XFCE from the official Armbian website onto the NVME SSD of the board. Everything works fine except the 4 hard drives that are connected to boards SATA connectors. They do appear and work when i boot into the Debian provided by Radxa, so I know hardware isn't an issue. I think that they also worked during the very first boot of the system but after ``` apt update && apt upgrade ``` and reboot, they stop working. Any advice would be much appreciated. ``` rock-5-itx:~$ lsblk NAME MAJ:MIN RM SIZE RO TYPE MOUNTPOINTS mtdblock0 31:0 0 16M 0 disk mmcblk0 179:0 0…

  7. I upgraded my ROCK5B in-place from Armbian Bookworm beta to Armbian Testing/Trixie beta and it turns out that no Ambian packages are seen (so not updated). The Debian Trixie packages do upgrade, as for example I just saw while doing full-upgrade: libavif16:arm64 (1.2.1-1.2) over (1.2.1-1.1) ... I thought something with my install, but also downloaded 'Armbian_25.8.0-trunk.50_Rock-5b_trixie_vendor_6.1.115_minimal.img' yesterday and it has the same issue (quick test via systemd-nspawn container on loopdev mounted image). 16. Hello Armbian community, I am writing this topic because, despite the drivers for the processor's integrated GPU are installed within the operating system, they do not seem to work properly. Anyone who typically updates on nightly kernels I would recommend freezing and not updating until we clear up some issues gifted us by some large amount of upstream changes that broke well, pretty much everything. I will update this thread as things get brought back to life. June 7th 2018: I've made a branch (rockchip-default) to work out the kinks. So far I have the board booting and Mali working again (with an initial error on load) , however there is no HDMI terminal, so initial boots would require a uart or SSH hdmi terminal is back thank you to Ntemis on github, I'd missed part of the conversation (I only have cell phone while at w…

  19. May I know how do you enable Panrost support Ubuntu 24.04 on Khadas Edge2? By Khadas SDK, I have built image which failed with followings: 1. Enabled Panfrost in defconfig. 2. 20. Just got my new tinkerboard powered up with armbian. For some reason I could not get anything after build 1.3 off the Asus site to boot! Anway, first impressions good, however in the graphics settings it seems to max out at 1920 x 1080 whilst on paper the tinkerboard is supposed to support 4k. I'll admit I am new to linux so perhaps i'm missing something ovbious, but if someone could explain how I can up the resolution to 3,840 x 2,160 that would be great. For the avoidance of doubt I have it connected to an Acer 27" 4k monitor.

  33. Hello. I'm sure this has been discussed a lot but I couldn't find anything recent. I just got my Orange Pi 5 Plus and I installed Armbian 23.8 Bookworm CLI on it. It is really fast and I love it so far. I see that it is unclear whether we have some kind of working vulkan drivers or not but I just installed the mesa-vulkan-drivers package and the vulkaninfo command is actually returning output so does that mean that we have vulkan drivers that work for the G610? Thanks in advance

  36. This is a new release of the uefi firmware for Orange Pi 5 Plus which now has mainline kernel support. My thought was that this new release would support armbian uefi builds but so far no love. 37. Hello all! Not sure what is going on at all but I'm having a problem booting the "rolling release" of armbian (debian 14/forky) minimal cli. 40. Hi guys We're trying to run SPI with Linuxcnc. But sometimes SPI latency with other hardware (FPGA) gets big. The operating system is armbian and I could install a real-time kernel on it so I know it shouldn't be real-time issue with kernel. 43. I'm adding this here as I want to contribute to the community, but I'm still not sure how. I've been playing with Armbian Build lately and found it's great for quick build images for testing purposes before it's officially made available. So I started build my own images with i3, mate, kde, and I noticed that, in my personal taste, the one that was better suited for my needs was Sway, but there's no desktop image with it. So I built a Server version and start installing it. I know it may not be of interest of everybody, so I was planning to do it for myself, so I can continue building with the interface, but having Sway "automatically" installed. …

  44. Is there a list of Armbian Kernels that include EMMC support? I've tried the vendor kernel build 6.1.99, the LTS 6.12.21, and Bleeding Edge 6.14.0 to find they all lack the mmcblk0 under /dev/ , and lack overlays for it under /boot/dtb/rockchip/overlays/. I spent months on and off looking for solutions, and I finally found one, so here it is if you ever find yourself having the same problem. Basically, it is caused by the SoC being very sensitive to voltage drops before the USB controller interprets it as the connection being lost. It's far more sensitive than it needs to be, given that my device is bus-powered and so the OS never actually needs to worry about a connection loss. If the connection is lost it is because I have unplug…

  50. Hello everyone, I recently installed my orangePi 5 to pass workload from my x86 servers over to the orangePi. My main focus is to reduce my overall energy consumption of my homelab. TL;DR Kernel thinks, that while being idle the sweet spot for the frequencies in "ondemand" and "schedutil" is: 1024MHz on the small chips (CPU0-3) 816MHZ on the big chips (CPU4+5, CPU6+7) Reason is an internal cost calculation power vs. frequency gain, which sorts out the lower frequencies. Long story: After getting my first orangePi5 in place, I started to play around with the hardware. I am running: █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █…

[🔨] ERROR: modpost: "cma_release" [drivers/media/common/videobuf2/videobuf2-cma-sg.ko] undefined! [🔨] ERROR: modpost: "cma_alloc" [drivers/media/common/videobuf2/videobuf2-cma-sg.ko] undefined! Reading documentation to buld armbian, it only mention docker. I have been (last year) generating kernel on the machine itself (the orange pi 5 plus), this is not supported? thanks.

  52. Hello, Recently I have upgraded Armbian on my PBP (w/o kernel). My current kernel is 5.10.60 #21.08.1. I know, it's old but the newer only makes PBP unusable at all - black screen on boot. My current issue concerns the PBP keyboard. Some keys started generating weird outputs. I have never faced with something like that. When I press 'q' - output is - aq2468 x - zxetuj c - cfghk d - DWRI 1 - the screen is dimming I have no idea if this is software or hardware issue. The computer was on the shelf. Nothing has happened to it physically. After years of fighting with this crap :( - I want to be sure if that is the last straw to put this com…

  53. I have built quite a few Debian12 Desktop images from github.com/armbian/build for a Debian Bookworm/XFCE/Vendor Kernel environment and noticed that recent vendor kernels do not have I2C-2.M0 as a kernel module listed within armbian-config. It appears that only two kernel modules are to be found, one being Panthos, the other involving a change in frequence of some item. This image does include I2C-2.mo: Armbian-unofficial_25.02.0-trunk_Orangepi5-plus_bookworm_vendor_6.1.84_xfce_desktop.img which includes kernel: Linux Atlas 6.1.99-vendor-rk35xx #1 SMP Fri Feb 21 18:11:03 UTC 2025 aarch64 GNU/Linux But these images do not contain the I2C-2…

  54. Hi, I am wanting to try running OPNsense under proxmox, but before that I wanted to setup the type-C port as a management port. I have added g_cdc in /etc/modules to load the kernel module and if I run a vendor kernel, it works fine. I plug my laptop in to the boards type-C port and it shows up as an ethernet adapter and I can SSH directly to the Rock 5 ITX. I however would like to use a mainline kernel instead as it generally runs better thanks to the amazing work of the community here. Running 6.12, this same functionality does not work and nothing appears in the network adapters on my laptop when plugging in. Looking on mainline-status, I see that the typ…

  55. Hello, I usually use the Next version of the image for the tinkerboard. I would like to use the nightly version. But the nightly version does not automatically log on to the user I created at the beginning in contradiction to the other version. How do I reactivate automatic login in nightly build ? Thanks

  56. Hy, I'm looking for a Command to get the Serial Number of my Tinkerboard. I have found this in the Web : cat /proc/cpuinfo | grep Serial | sed s/.*\ //g But i get 000000000000. Someone have an Idea please? Thank you :)

  57. In fact all versions since kernel 5.10.?? are broken and stop at u-boot. Better the Uboot shall dive down and never ever come up to bother us. Finally I managed to install bullseye by using a buster image, deactivtion kernel upgrade and removed the armbian.list from /etc/apt/ Then I changed source list from buster to bullseye apt update apt upgrade -y apt full-upgrade -y thats it. And i is really a shame to fool the community by uploading untested software.

  58. Trying to set Wireguard (www.wireguard.io). 59. Tinkerboard · Started by Sangram,

Hi I was struggling to find the right package for my Tinkerboard. I needed a reasonably powerful 24x7 appliance that could provide torrent downloading, wifi hotspot, a shared network drive and a LMS box. After trying out the Asus effort and DietPi - both with severe issues) I landed on Armbian and it seems to have everything going for it but the LMS install just does not work. I am a Linux newbie, I know my way around Windows and a GUI, and used the instructions here and a few other places to successfully set up the hotspot and the sharing and automounting of large USB drives. It took me the better part of 6 hours just to figure all of that out (j…

  60. Hy again :p; I have customed my sd for my tinkerboard. i have done some settings like eth0 in static, partitions modified scripts and hostapd. When i put it in another Tinkerboard, everything works except wifi ap. I have searched why, and i have found that in my initial tinkerboard wifi is wlan0 and his settings is in /etc/network/interfaces.d/armbian.ap.nat When i put my SD in another tinkerboard, it is wlan1 which mounts and no wlan0. Wlan1 has no ip address. i don't see where is the problem? thanks by advance

  61. I have seen the uefi port for Rock 5B, which uses rk3588. seed this the opi5 use rk3588s which may lack some IOs, so I think maybe it can work on opi5 without modification. (actually i don't know how to modify to fit for it, need to learn) here i show you the result, I burn the uefi image (complied from balbes150's repo: https://github.com/150balbes/edk2_uefi ) to a tf card, then burn the image from balbes150's post to a usb portable ssd. then i change the dtb. The efi and grub can boot form tf card and then load the image from my usb ssd. successfully enter the Armbian and seems no big issues. But this can only work on the 2 type-A usb3.0, i try on usb2.…

  64. Hello, I've installed armbian with Debian Trixie on my Odroid-M1 to replace the Ubuntu installed via petitboot. Everything was running smoothly except the networking part which was very slow (with luck some 100kbit/s) and has shown very high packetloss, even while the switch and ethtool report absolutely no problems and replacing cables and switching ports didn't help. Switching to 100Mbit/s was working fine, no loss anymore, switching back to 1G caused massive packet loss. With some help from chatgpt and another M1 I own that was still running the hardkernel/petitboot installed kernel and dtb I could trace the issue down the RGMII timing…

  65. Hello, I'm unable to make the RTL8723BS chip on my Tinker Board to work on AP mode with the 5.4 kernel (same configuration works on legacy kernel). When I try to connect I get this error on dmesg: RTL8723BS: ap recv deauth reason code(3) sta:40:4e:36:cf:8a:18 On the console I also get a bunch of kernel errors similar to this: Message from syslogd@localhost at Dec 27 14:26:11 ... kernel:[ 799.239910] ff60: bf0377a4 dd8057e8 dd07ffac dd07ff78 c014a17c bf0377b0 de2d9128 de2d9128 Is this a known problem? Thanks

  66. I know for sure that booting from an sd card and then using dd to write the uncompressed image to the emmc device isn't what works. I'm talking about Armbian_22.02.1_Pinebook-pro_focal_current_5.15.25_xfce_desktop.img here. Because that essentially bricked my PBP. I have the little adapter to connect the emmc to a usd slot, and using balena etcher to write to that isn't it either. the uboot in that image prevents booting from sd automatically as well, and i didn't find any uboot documentation that made it clear how to manually boot from sd, though i did hook up a serial console. This is what it said. The LED never turned green, the display flashe…

  67. I searched & tried all materials I can find, trying to set up FFmpeg to work with hardware acceleration on Orange Pi 5. But it did NOT work. Anyone else succeeds in using GPU hardware acceleration to encode/transcode video on Orange Pi 5 using FFmpeg? (or using gstreamer?) Could you please share with me the way to do it? Thank you very much indeed!

  68. hi all, so i skipped i beleive 2 releases of armbian for opi5 and i just downloaded latest and installed. i am not english native and armbian installs local langauge automaticaly wich is ABSOLUTELY NOT WANTED and quite annoying from my perspective. what i need is just plain en.us or english internatinal for system and keyboard but i cant get it. i tried changing it with armbian config but it doesnt do a thing, local language is always there and its a huge PITA. please armbian dudes, return to manual selection, i beg you. any tips how i can fix it so its just plain english? or how can i force installation to ask me what language to choose? thanks for an…

  69. Armbian 24.5.1. I don't have a serial console setup so I can't tell if it's actually starting to boot or not, but it never gets to the point where a video signal is sent to HDMI. It *does* send a CEC on signal to the TV, which does turn on, and power-cycling the Pi then begins a normal boot process. Pi also boots normally headless. Problem noted on one Insignia model and on a Vizio TV, works as expected on another Insignia model, on a Hisense and on an LG. Issue began after updating the kernel from legacy.

  70. Hi, after upgrading to Armbian 24.11.3 noble with 6.1 Kernel I have this problem that every time I turn off my TV that is connected to OPI with HDMI, then turning it back on again it will never have a HDMI signal. Same thing happens when I unplug the HDMI cable and plug it back in. I can reproduce it every single time - not just occasionally. It is not a hardware or cable problem, the exact same setup has worked flawlessly for long time with older Armbian and 5.1 kernel. I tried disabling all of the KDE power saving settings, also totally disabled kpowerdevil - with no change. SSH still works fine, the OS has not crashed. …

  71. Hi out there! I've managed to build a quite complex system based on Tinker, using 1 Wire sensor, I2C-s, all of all UART's, and all of all remaining GPIO's... :-) Unfortunately a long term test in a climate chamber have failed... (although the core was just heated up to 70 degrees Celsius) The need for a hardware watchdog then arise... I've build new kernel using latest compile.sh with the HW watchdog checked resulting Linux tinkerboard 4.4.110-rockchip #2 SMP Wed Jan 10 16:41:03 CET 2018 armv7l GNU/Linux but there is no /dev/watchdog Not even in /proc/iomem at ff800000... …

  74. I received my new orange pi 5 plus. I installed the official Orange PI 5 Plus Ubuntu on a SD card and it worked great. Then I installed the "Armbian_23.8.1_Orangepi5-plus_jammy_legacy_5.10.160_gnome_desktop" on SD card (Yes I took the image from the page with the "archive for orange Pi 5 plus"), and it get stuck on a screen displaying "Orange PI" (I do not see any armbian logo) , and nothing else happens (the blue light on the board does not blink). Why is that? How can I see what is happening? I installed in the past Armbian on an Orange Pi 5 with no issue, so I am really wondering what is going on there. Your view/ideas w…

  76. Hi, I've come from Joshua's 24.04 Server build. I was concerned that the support was dropping off as he's having a well deserved break. I've installed the latest Server build from here. https://dl.armbian.com/orangepi5-plus/Noble_current_server-kisak Works fine, have moved it to EMMC and removed the SD card. I use a USB power meter to see how much juice it uses. I noticed this build uses about 20 to 25% more when idle or under load compared to Josh's 6.1 kernel build. I am suspecting 6.12 has enabled more hardware in the OPi5+ and this is the reason. Is there a way to disable some of the HW to low…

  77. I have an extra CB2 laying around and want to set it up with Home Assistant. However, I think I have tried all the google search and am not able to find the answer. Thus I am wondering if CB2 would be supported by Armbian community? I am currently on BTT V3.0.0 Beta 2, and got crashed (no boot) after I tried to install the docker, so I guess the BTT CB2 V3.0.0 does not fully supoort other program except Mainsail for 3D printing.

  78. I got a 6.1 noble minimal image installed with a latest kubuntu update to KDE 6. Was quite some work to get this all working. But some thing aren't working (e.g. audio?). 6.12 and later supports a range more peripherals. I tried the non-vendor images but no go. How do I install one of those? (Not using ROOBI, I hacked this to use my own)

  79. I have an Orange Pi 5 board, installed with the 25.8 Debian Bookworm + Cinnamon desktop system. I have switched (using armbian-config) to the edge kernel in order to test the HDMI audio support in the new Linux kernel, but I'm not getting any audio out. The ALSA HDMI card seems to be present (see below), but there's no sound using speaker-test or aplay. I have enabled the hdmirx overlay through armbian-config also, but the result is the same. Is there anything extra that should be configured in order to get audio output ? Output from armbianmonitor - https://paste.armbian.com/gegorimako

  80. Greetings, I have an Orange Pi 5 with the edk2 1.1 UEFI bios on the SPI, and an NVMe installed. The BIOS has been set to "Mainline" in the device tree option I tried visiting here https://armbian.com/boards/uefi-arm64 and burning the minimal current6.18.8 CLI image to my USB stick. The Orange Pi 5 displays the graphical grub menu with no problems, complete with penguin in the background etc, but once I choose the boot Armbian option, it displays a few lines of terminal output and then the monitor goes black as if the GPU is initializing and a desktop or graphic would be about to show - when instead, the monitor just reports no signal instead. The system isn't…
