Hello! I had an issue upgrading my khadas edge2 to the linux-image-edge-rockchip-rk3588 package (24.8.0-trunk.597) on the edge/rolling release image I had installed. It looks like issues with building the initramfs files, specifically trying to symlink on top of a file that already exists and/or copying the /bin/osk-sdl binary. The following seems to have allowed me to use apt install -f to get the kernel and initramfs files to be built and installed successfully. Probably the change in the symlink code was unnecessary, but I did both and got a bootable system out of it, so it's a bit late for me to test. I made the following changes to /usr/share/…

Sorry bad English. I advise that I'm a noob. I have a MKS TS35 v2.0, that uses ST7796/ILI9341 (or ILI9486, I think) for LCD and ADS7843E for touch, and now I want to use it in my Asus Tinker Board for Klipper. I know that it's possible because exists one HOW-TO of this for Raspberry Pi 3b+. I wanna that someone, with knowledge in Armbian and Tinker Board, build (adapt) this DTS on GITHUB https://github.com/fbeltrao-br/mksts35/blob/main/mksts35v2.dts. I want this especially because the pinout https://github.com/fbeltrao-br/mksts35/blob/main/pinout.png, that is more easy for me understand what pins I need connect.

So recently I decided to use my (quite old) tinker board, I downloaded the last armbian (desktop, 4.4.213) OS, managed to install a vncserver (x11vnc) and also to use it without a screen plugged in it. And now I would like to turn it into a urbackup server, but I got some error with mdadm, "Module md_mod not found in directory /lib/modules/4.4.213-rockchip". I tried to use this forum to find a solution (https://github.com/armbian/build), but I couldn't make it work. When i tipe ´´git clone https://github.com/armbian/build´´ it stop around 7% at resolving deltas, and it just freeze. Someone could have any idea how to solve this issue?? And i can't get my armbianmon…

Hey everyone, I'm starting to lose my mind here. I've got an Orange Pi 5 which works great with a micro SD card. Now I got myself a nvme ssd and all I want to do is move my system from the sd card to the ssd. I've created an image of the sd card on my PC using "dd" and then wrote it on the ssd using dd again. It seemed to work fine, the only issue seems to be, that the UUID of the partitions on the ssd were the same as on the sd card, that's why I changed the UUID of the root partition on the ssd using "tune2fs -U random /dev/nvme0n1p2". I booted up the Pi with my sd card again and used armbian-config to flash mtdblock0 (boo…

I'm using Armbian on a Tinker Board S. I did the installation back when the 4.4 kernel was still the default one. I expected that I'd get the newer 4.19 kernel by using 'apt update && apt dist-upgrade' at some point as it would become the new stable. This does not seem to be the case however, as I see the new downloads use 4.19 by default, but the stable package still points to a 4.4 kernel. Is it recommended to just move up by installing the kernel package with the next suffix or are there still reasons to wait with upgrading?

At first, the card was recognized as a Mass Storage, I used usb_modeswitch to make it recognized as a wifi card, but iwconfig still didn't show this card, and /sys/kernel/debug/ieee80211 did exist, but was empty. I don't think it's a driver issue because when I plugged this card into my debian laptop, it worked even without usb_modeswitch. journalctl and lsusb logs are in the files. journalctl.log lsusb.log

After upgrading to kernel 6.10.1-edge-rockchip-rk3588 I started getting: fdee0000.hdmi_receiver: hdmirx_wait_lock_and_get_timing: HDMI pull out, return on the console. This repeats constantly and quite rapidly, and just doesn't stop. I can silence it by plugging a monitor into HDMI port, but... I prefer to run my board headless (serial + net). Does anybody know any other way to get rid of this? This "feature" was absent with the -rc7 kernel.

I have a few questions, because I cant find any documentation about what is broken or not. Why does /dev/rga not exist? USB-OTG does not seem to be working at the moment? Is MPP enabled in the current kernel? When is SPI boot coming out? Still love armbian though!

It's been a while since I used Armbian. I have tons of ARM SBCs from a few years back because I think they're fascinating but they either wind up being too slow or just not worth using it for whatever since x86 "SBC like" boards exist and are pretty cheap. Fast forward to now and I'm doing some touchscreen development and just because of how I have things setup I needed 3 things, I2C, Interrupt capable GPIO and an actual DisplayPort. That combination of things is surprisingly hard to find. I had a couple of things on hand, (Seeed Odyssey x86, Odroid H2/H3, Rpi's, Nvidia Jetson Nano). I spent way more time than I should have trying to make each of these work, i…

**Board:** NanoPi M5 (RK3576) **Kernel:** 6.18.33-current-rockchip64 (#1 SMP PREEMPT Sat May 23 11:07:21 UTC 2026) **Armbian build:** v26.8.0-trunk.53 ## Problem Gigabit RX is completely non-functional on `end0` (GMAC0, `ethernet@2a220000`). The interface comes up at 1000Mb/s, TX works, but no packets are ever received. DHCP never gets an OFFER, `ethtool -S end0` shows RX counters stuck at zero. Forcing 100Mb/s via `ethtool -s end0 speed 100 duplex full autoneg off` works around the issue — RX starts working immediately. ## Root cause The DTB sets `phy-mode = "rgmii-id"` together with `rx_delay = <0x3f>`. Hi, I would like to report an issue I encountered while testing the new NanoPi M5 UFS boot support in Armbian 26.5.1. Hello, I’ve seen in the latest release Armbian now supports installing to UFS but can’t really see much information about going about this? I boot into the SD card and I’ve tried both installing a new copy to the UFS, which seems to do something but booting only gets as far as initramfs, and copying existing install from SD card which just fails with the following: “No bootable install method is available for /dev/sda on this system (no EFI firmware, no GRUB, and no board u-boot support).” I have tried both Debian and Ubuntu minimal images on vendor and current kernels. Hello all, First of all, thanks for the Armbian project, love it so far, but had a slight problem with a kernel upgrade. To be honest, I forgot how I installed Armbian since it was a while ago, but I've been using this for a year or so. I saw that unattended-upgrades installed a new kernel and I should reboot for this change. I was a bit apprehensive, but went ahead and rebooted. The NanoPI R4S didn't come back up. I attached a serial console to debug. The console showed that the initramfs was read successfully from the SD card, but then tried to mount to root filesystem by UUID and failed (it kept saying it tried to run /boot/local-block and event…

Hello everyone, I have a problem with my NanoPi R4S. The WAN (eth0) port does not work well when it is configured to work on 1Gbps/Full. When this setting is active there is about 15% packet loss, which is quite annoying. In my tests I have already been able to identify that if I configure the port to work at 100Mbps/Full everything works normally. So I found the forum-post below, that explain that some u-Boot version wasn't setting the correct clock configuration for the netwok device at boot time, but now I have installed the linux-u-boot-nanopi-r4s-edge 22.08.6 and linux-image-edge-rockchip64 22.08.8 but the problem still there. I have been pulling my hair out trying to get the acceleration performance (smooth 4K video playback in mpv / chromium) in Armbian (any of the MESA/VPU marked releases) that I am getting from the FriendlyElec distributions. In my naive mind, I thought the MESA/VPU version would get me there, but mpv stutters on 4K videos. I suspect this is because Armbian avoids the proprietary drives. Could someone point me to a guide that allows me to get similar performance with Armbian as I am getting with Frien…

So my boss deploys a plethora of Asus TInkerboards to assist with production. We are currently using an OS image provided to us by this website---specifically, Ubuntu_xenial_next_desktop.7z. On some occasions, with kick ass access points, the tinkers will disconnect from the wireless network that we are using. We are also using an antennae attachment which seems to help a bit with connection issues. Without providing too much specific info, is there an updated driver being worked on somewhere that I could be pointed towards? Any info/words of wisdom would be very helpful! Thank you! Best regards and thanks in advance! Joey

I have an Orange Pi 5 that I can swap as is in its place and everything works. Coupled with the fact that I couldn't find mention of the errors, I'm hoping that someone can help me before I give up and return the OPI5…

Hi there, I'm really happy with Armbian on my Oprange Pi 5 Plus but recently I noticed that I'm not getting kernel updates so often as before. I use rockchip-edge branch and I'm stuck at kernel "6.18.0-rc6-edge-rockchip64". I know there are new versions being tested (https://github.com/armbian/os/pkgs/container/os%2Fkernel-rockchip64-edge), will they be released to armbian? Maybe you are working hard on Armbian version 26.2 and I'm just anxious Thanks in advance!

This is a new release of the uefi firmware for Orange Pi 5 Plus which now has mainline kernel support. My thought was that this new release would support armbian uefi builds but so far no love. Does anyone know of an armbian build that would work with this??? The is the one of the tag lines from readme.md found @ https://github.com/edk2-porting/edk2-rk3588 "It delivers a PC-like standardized boot experience, supporting multiple operating systems, such as Windows, Linux, BSD and VMware ESXi."

Hi all! I am entirely new to Armbian. I see Radxa's Rock5B RK3588 based SBC is suppored and its Armbian page is https://www.armbian.com/rock-5b/ . Can you give me a small crash course on your experience with Armbian on the Radxa Rock5B? If you have an idea of any of the points I raise below, please share. 1. Super stable? Generally to use and to upgrade Armbian, how stable has it been to you? 2. Which image should I pick? I see both Debian and Ubunto are offered. I'll pick Debian. Then there are "Desktop", "Server" and "Minimal/IOT"and "Dedicated applications" images, and some are listed …

Hello Everytime I reboot I have to wait many minutes before the NIC auto-negotiates and connects. The problem seems to be at the PHY layer as the LED does not light up at all ... see time span between 23:22:20 and 23:23:52 : Why is this happening? Only enP3p49s0 is plugged in and NetworkManager-wait-online.service is disabled. Thanks

Hi all, Saw that via Slashdot. A RPI 3 b+ benchmark comparing against other SBCs and TinkerBoard. Check it out: https://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=article&item=raspberrypi-3-bplus Feeling great for buying one, after reading all 18 pages of the forum! Ah. A big shout THANK YOU to Igor, Tony, Kaiser and everyone else that helped build a working Armbian release to this SBC. -RF

Hi, Like the topic says, both NICs are underperforming, they are connected to a Gb switch which I use and benched with other machines, neither iperf nor iperf3 (threaded and not threaded) go higher than 700Mbps. Another server plugged on the same switch reaches Gb steadily. I applied CPU affinity so both IRQ's are handled by the A76 cores but it makes no difference. OS: Armbian 24.5.5 Bookworm, uname -a: Linux geonosis 6.1.75-vendor-rk35xx #1 SMP Fri Jul 19 14:49:03 UTC 2024 aarch64 GNU/Linux There's not much running on the board for now.

Members, I have a question, because I can't find any documentation about what is broken or not. Why does /dev/rga not exist in my armbian install? I need it for my FFmpeg rkmpp config.

I connected a tinker to a 4k tv and the highest resolution that armbian offers is 1920x1080. What could be the reason that 4k res is not offered? I'm using ARMBIAN 5.43.180417 nightly Ubuntu 16.04.4 LTS 4.14.34-rockchip.

Hi all, After a recent update bumped the current kernel to the 6.18 series, the rear 3.5mm jack on my NanoPC-T6 LTS stopped playing any sound. I'm connecting it to an external amplifier that worked fine before the update. What I see on 6.18 (6.18.35-current-rockchip64): The audio card (rt5616) still shows up in aplay -l and playback commands run without errors, but no sound comes out. Volume levels and mute aren't the issue — I checked those. What fixed it: downgrading via armbian-config to linux-image-current-rockchip64=25.11.2 (kernel 6.12.58). With 6.12 the audio works perfectly again. So 6.12 works and 6.18 doesn…

Hello again, We're already aware of the existing issues with kernel 6 and the audio on the RK3308B. In this case, it fails again in the latest versions... Alsamixer detects the audio card and even shows it in arecord -L or arecord -l, but when trying to record, the error appears: "arecord: set_params:1416: unable to install hw params" The command applied is: arecord -c 2 -r 192000 -f S32_LE test.wav Although if I leave it without parameters to see what it does, it throws the same error, even if I specify the hardware... In the previous kernel (I think it was 6.12.11 (with the u-boot issue in the previous post), the audio worked per…

Hello, I'm trying to connect a MIPI DSI display. Currently, backlight is working, but not the display in Armbian (Armbian 25.5.1 Noble Gnome). DTS is loaded and corresponding kernel module panel-simple-dsi is loaded as well. Same DTS works on the official Radxa 5c image (rock-5c_bookworm_kde_b2) (kernel 6.1.43-15) Has anyone faced a similar issue? armbianmonitor -u : https://paste.armbian.com/ocoperohak.yaml Thanks!

It seems that If I use the mainline kernel Ethernet does not work, in the sense that it doesn't even get initialized. ip addr will only show the loopback interface, and the kernel log will show this regarding the ethernet port. I have an encrypted root partition, and on booting, it asks me for the passphrase to decrypt it. This was shown on the screen when I was using the 6.6.47 kernel, but on the 6.12.11 kernel, nothing is shown on the screen at all until I've successfully typed the passphrase and it's started booting. Here's the armbianmonitor -u output for the working 6.6.47 kernel: https://paste.next.armbian.com/suporamoqe And here's the output for the not-quite-so-working 6.12.11 kernel: https://paste.armbian.de/cuxaxoweci This isn't a huge deal for me, since I usually close my eyes while typing the passphrase anyway, but it means I have to guess when it…

So I have armbian installed on a tinkerboard and have had absolutely no issues with it until I bought a new Samsung 7000 series TV (2019). For some reason this TV does not recognize the signal coming from the tinkerboard. For the life of me I cannot figure out how to get this to work. I notice a few references online about being able to force a resolution but nothing related to the rockchip boards. Is there an equivalent way to force a display resolution as in this article? https://docs.armbian.com/Hardware_Allwinner/#how-to-reconfigure-video-output I'm running 4.19.21-rockchip 5.76 I've also tried kernel 5.4.28 as well an…

Hi, last night a set of updates was installed and I rebooted the Orange Pi 5+ this morning. After the reboot I've seem to have lost the connection to the Orange Pi 5+, it is normally connected without a screen so I access it through SSH and the Open Media Vault web GUI. I've tried to connect it to a screen and then it seems to boot up just fine. Looking around with the screen connected it seems like the network cards aren't detected. My Linux skills are very limited but "sudo lshw -class network" shows nothing. One detail is that my router seems to detect it when it's connected and gives it the normal IP address that I've set in the 192.168.0.x ran…

I have no sound over hdmi with my Orange pi 5. I have tried installing alsamixer and alsatools but this reports no settings to adjust. I have looked in files-boot-config for the sound settings and line 5242 says HDMI analogue is not set. I tried altering that to =y but I am not allowed to alter anything here and save it, ( oh how linux loves denying you permission). Does anyone know how to apply some common sense to this, why do the Armbian developers think it is a good idea not to have sound over HDMI, there is no option at al to select this in sound settings. Yours extremely miffed.

I installed latest vendor image and because of the wifi issues I switched to the edge kernel. I messed up my fstab, couldn't connect with ssh, so I plugged it to my monitor and a keyboard, but there was no video. Eventually, I fixed it by booting vendor image from my sd card, but I got curious. I know, that vendor image just works, so I flashed edge image to my sd card to see what's wrong. The monitor recognizes the presence of the board, but it's just a black screen. I can ssh to the board, so the image definitely booted, but there's just no video. Here's the log from my original installation. I kept 6.8 kernel because the video is not important to me.

Hello, I am using the armbian kernel+uboot patchset of the rockchip-next (4.14.x) part to support Tinkerboard+TinkerboardS in an own home automation environment. U-Boot 2018.05 and kernel 4.14.53 are working fine so far with the current patchset published on GitHub (thanks for this great work!). As soon as I software reboot it after the initial powerup the ethernet port perfectly comes up with a link and I am able to setup all IP data, etc. But as soon as I completely power down the system and replug the power-cable it a…

G’day guys, just grabbed a version of Armbian again to play around with on an orange Pi 5 I have had for a while. I have installed the latest stable (25.5.1 Noble Gnome). I followed the process for erasing the MTD, but still I got error messages relating to no spi image. I tried to boot from the ssd and just got a black screen. Hi! I am looking into OdroidM1 network performance with kernel 6.6.47-current-rockchip64 ( 24.8.1 ) For some reason network performance is x10 faster (upstream) in bookworm and noble, when compared to jammy. Downstream performance is fine, delivering the same performance in jammy and the other distributions. Since all of them are using the same kernel, I assume that there must be some configuration that jammy is missing, or? Any idea about what could be going on?

The only thing needed to make this work for everyone is a 1-line kernel patch in Armbian build that I've already submitted: https://github.com/armbian/build/pull/9403 Once this patch is merged into Armbian, the DKMS modules will work out-of-the-box on all RK3568 boards. The Problem 1. Hardkernel and Rockchip provide NPU patches for quite old kernel versions: rockchip <= 6.6 hardkernel <= 5.10 2. IOMMU …

https://paste.armbian.com/qocicuyote.yaml <-- captured from debug UART Brand new odroid-m1, Samsung Pro Endurance 256GB; and a brand-new/uninitialized Samsung PM9A1 256GB NVMe. It drops me to a shell [presumably the initramfs]. Note: I'm not out of options yet, I can try building my own image with newer current or edge kernels. Edited to add: I think it's booting me to the petitboot env, not even attempting to boot the SD card,

The NPU on the ODROID-M1 can execute ordinary quantized TFLite models through the standard TFLite delegate mechanism, on a fully open stack: the `accel/rocket` kernel driver (with local fixes) plus the Mesa Teflon delegate. An application loads a regular .tflite file — no model-conversion step, no proprietary runtime. Image classification (mobilenet v1/v2, resnet18) and object detection (yolov8n) work today, and other convolutional networks take the same path. This complements the vendor-stack setup from [the DKMS topic](https://forum.armbian.com/topic/58036-odroid-m1-npu-fully-working-on-armbian-618x/), on the same board. What runs, measured against CPU-only TFLite …

I lost whole day yesterday to try boot with new images from Armbian download page - kernel 6.1 / kernel 6.8 bookworm/trixi and none boots... If I take Ubuntu or Debian image I have no problem to boot from. Do you have the same?

As discussed on multiple threads, the aim of this thread is to bring all RockChip devices under one BSP (4.4) Kernel. This discussion can be found (partly): and a bit background here: https://github.com/rockchip-linux/kernel/issues/98 Cause I'm not willing to cut out all this stuff from the related threads (this would end in a complete disaster) I try to summarize it here (if something is missing, let me know I'll add it): RockChips BSP kernel is not longer an option. Cause it breaks faster that our current resources allow to fix it. Having all SoCs under one kernelsource would make it more predictable and decrease the efforts needed to keep…

My first post here - I'm new to SBCs and stoked I got my home webserver up and running on a Orange Pi 5 which boots from an NVMe (pats-self-on-back : -) It runs great, pages are up, and it's all SO COOL, but it fails to do a restart... I can do a shutdown -h now, count to three and power it back up and all is well, but if I do a shutdown -r now it will go down, start back up, all the way to the login prompt but then barfs a long Oops message. God please... don't make me start over !

I get "DRM_IOCTL_PANFROST_CREATE_BO No space left on device", is 1GB RAM too little? Also the screen goes black when the app boots, is that a problem with X11/Wayland?

Anyone have an issue where on a fresh install with apt update and upgrade I create a hotspot then have openvpn connect on boot. It works fine as a hotspot with 200mbps up and down but when the traffic is routes through a vpn by connecting openvpn the board will crash/become unresponsive if the upload is used heavily. Works great until I run a speedtest and on the upload the board will crash. Normal use is fine even pegging download causes no issue. Le potato s905x works amazing in this regard and never crashes period. Is this a known bug?

Hello, I'm having issues with my Orange Pi 4 LTS. I cannot get any HDMI output at the moment. Neither with the Debian flashed on the eMMC, or with Armbian running of the SD card. In both cases I can SSH into the Orange and run commands normally. The HDMI worked just a day before, but in the meantime I was flashing different systems and it stopped working. I tried different monitors and cables. Any ideas what can I do?
