What should the correctly enabled I2C service (for a 40x2 LCD) look like on Bananapim2pro? Should I edit the armbianEnv.txt file and add, for example, the following entry: overlays=i2c0 i2c1? The armbian-config service is a bit confusing, and after editing it, I get this: ........................ verbosity=1 console=both overlay_prefix=meson fdtfile=amlogic/meson-sm1-bananapi-m2-pro.dtb rootdev=UUID=a4fb8074-c453-45da-ab31-4d61dca46cfa rootfstype=ext4 overlays=i2cA i2cB usbstoragequirks=0x2537:0x1066:u,0x2537:0x1068:u .................. I've recorded Armbian_20.11_Lafrite_focal_current_5.9.6.img.xz to an usb drive and booted it on La Frite with the latest firmware u-boot-2020-07-r7.bin from http://share.loverpi.com/board/libre-computer-project/libre-computer-board/aml-s805x-ac/firmware/. Armbian boots but text is almost unreadable. I guess, I have to tweak some linux boot parameters but I don't know how to do this without GRUB. I tried holding u-boot button during a launch of the board but it gives no effect. How should I edit kernel parameters on La-Frite? Is there any other solution?

Hi, I installed armbian_23.8.1_Radxa-zero_bookworm-current_6.1.50 on Radxa Pi Zero eMMC and I have an USB SSD drive connected as storage. Everything worked fine using it as a NAS but if I reboot there is an endless loop of reboots with the core message "scanning bus usb0ff5000000 for devices... Synchronous Abort handler, err 0x56000010". If I disconnect the USB drive it boots fine and when reconnect it after the boot process, the drive works fine. But I really need a system that is able to boot without temporarely disconnecting USB. I tried different combinations of USB with two different hubs or without hub. There are no boot flags on the partitions. I completely de…

Hi, I downloaded the jammy xfce image for ODROID C2 today: MD5SUM 033fbc0babb56db5388b4c707a2fc0ce Armbian_23.11.1_Odroidc2_jammy_current_6.1.63_xfce_desktop.img.xz After flashing it onto my SD card with xzcat and dd, I tried to boot with my Odroid C2 ending up with this error message: ALERT! UUID=75e23441-f5ee-4479-a484-7060ccd898ae does not exist. So I put the SD back into my PC and checked with gparted: the UUID of the partition that I have on my SD card seems to have exactly the UUID that was not found. In fact the boot until that error message lastet quite long, so I expect that the…

Can OpenVFD be installed on the Armbian image for LePotato?
-
My current HC4-setup consists of 1 SSD and 1 HDD. The SSD contains the most recent Armbian-image (Buster-based) (https://redirect.armbian.com/odroidhc4/Buster_current). Long story short: it won't boot from SSD, and Google tells me it is because Armbian is not compatible with Petiboot. Armbian suggests the following solution: "Important: To be able to boot clean Armbian mainline based u-boot / kernel experiences, you need to remove incompatible Petitboot loader that is shipped with the board. From the Petitboot, go for “Exit to shell” and these commands to remove the Petitboot:" # flash_eraseall /dev/mtd0 # flash_eraseall /dev/mtd1 # flash_eraseall /de…

Hi, has anyone got the Odroid VU7-C display to work on a Odroid N2+ running headless Armbian Jammy? Running the hardkernel stock 22.04, which is still on linux kernel 4.9, it works fine. I've already tried to change a few boot params in /boot/boot.cmd, inspired by https://wiki.odroid.com/accessory/display/vu_series/vu7/vu7#tab__odroid-n2 like setenv display_autodetect "true" or setenv disable_vu7 "false" setenv hdmimode “800x480p60hz” setenv voutmode "dvi" Am I correct to run mkimage -C none -A arm -T script -d /boot/boot.cmd /boot/boot.scr as root after each change in boot.cmd? Hi, Like the title says the UART overlays are not working on the armbian radxa zero device if I use the official out-of-the-box image. Using the armbian-config I can enable UART A and B but these changes do not reflect in the /dev/tty devices (using other distros is can see /dev/ttyAML0, /dev/ttyAML1 and /dev/ttyAML4). Unless the devices are called something else i confirm that the overlays are not working. That being said I want to recompile a armbian image with the correct overlays but I am a complete noob. Here is my plan : i successfully compiled a minimal cli armbian image for the radxa zero without any…

I've tried shutdown -h now, poweroff, shutdown -h, all results in a reboot instead of shutdown. I've searched and haven't found a solution, just other people with the same problem. I'm running "Armbian_24.2.1_Lepotato_bookworm_current_6.6.16_cinnamon_desktop.img", has anyone found a solution to this problem? I tried raspbian on the le potato and that will shut down but gives me other issues when installing openhabian. Armbian just seems to work otherwise but I'd like a clean way to shutdown when needed so I don't risk corrupting my sd card.

Hello All, I spent mainly a week figuring out why it was a nightmare with cinnamon on debian I thought it was a matter of cinnamon version and/or mesa version of panfrost but it was a modeline detection problem from xorg. After trying my luck I finally discover where the bad duck resided on debian versions : - bullseye who was lagging , managing to use mali accel but overflowded with log errors - bookworm was loosing HDMI signal just after login in.. I will only talk about bookworm In fact, cinnamon internal xrandr, tool who detect the screen modelines, fails to access and to grab screen EDID modelines like xrandr did. it resul…

I have a bunch of these boards and a few friends that would like to use them. I am having problems getting UART on the GPIO to work even using Libre Computers Wiring tool. Is there any info on getting Armbian Device Tree Overlay to work with the potato? I really need UART on the GPIO. CAN0 would be a very helpful creature comfort but if i cannot get UART to work properly i have extremely dwindling odds of getting CAN0 to function properly. Any info that can point me in the right direction is welcome.

So, I've been struggling to figure out the reason behind this problem. I have 4 Le Potatoes, all connected to a 100 mbps switch. Each of them have a 32 GB Samsung SD Card EVO. I can't SSH again unless I reboot the PI (I didn't bother waiting longer than 5min) Initially, I thought SD Cards were bad, I moved them around, done reinstalls. I'm also using SD Formatter to format them and Etcher to install them. Still, this freezing problem had no consistent behavior according to PI hardware or the SD cards.. For Power, I'm u…

Hi, I installed/compiled different browsers that are based on QT (QtWebKit, QtWebEngine). Unfortunately, special characters, often necessary for typing in non-English languages, do not work. E.g. a Spanish accented 'e appears as 00e9 This makes all these really fast browsers with low memory footprint useless for multilanguage writing (e.g. in webmailers). The characters work fine in the terminal and other browsers such as Midori, Firefox and Chromium. Thus, I think, something went wrong in the compilation of QT libraries. Any idea how to solve that?

Hello! I have installed Armbian Bookworm on Khadas VIM3. Also I have enabled "UARTa" , "UARTc" in armbian-config utility. I have just installed an Armbian Jammy CLI on my BPI-CM4. I need to use the UART that is routed to pins 8 and 10 on the 40-pin connector (UART_EE_B in the BPI-CM4 schematics). I have enabled it in the device tree by changing this from disabled to okay: serial@23000 { compatible = "amlogic,meson-g12a-uart\0amlogic,meson-gx-uart"; reg = <0x00 0x23000 0x00 0x18>; interrupts = <0x00 0x4b 0x01>; clocks = <0x12 0x02 0x2a 0x12>; clock-names = "xtal\0pclk\0baud"; status = "okay"; phandle = <0x12b>; }; Once rebooted, and new UART appears (ttyAML6). However, it does not work. What am I missing? …

Hello, After a firmware update today I got a problem with Wireguard on my Odroid-hc4. I am wondering how to install this. I've installed armbian on a nanopc, and edge V which is now a brick after a brief use as an armbian machine. But never successfully to a vim 3. I have a fresh out of the box vim3 that fails on boot with the current image on sdcard. The first vim4 was a doorstop on arrival. I finally have a second vim 4 that does seem to work if I push the function button 3 times it goes to oowow. But so far nothing that I've read works to boot from sdcard. "Holding the function button while power on." I havent found any instructions here about an install process other than insert th…

I've been trying this all day and I can't get it to work for me (focal mainline kernel 5.6.y) - I can start on sdd, change hostname, make it a static ip, reboot - works fine. As soon as I try to nand-sata-install and boot from sdd + system on usb it just disappears after the reboot. Pity, works fine with the legacy.

I am trying to use the s905x on the Le Potato board to encode a 1080p video to stream via RTSP. Using software, the video is encoded anywhere in between the 5-7fps range. I want to use the hardware encoder that is available on the chip but I haven't been able to find any libraries that let me use the hardware on this specific board. I have tried installing the Mali-450 GPU drivers here (https://wiki.debian.org/MaliGraphics) but no luck.

I recently upgraded from an Odroid HC2 to and Odroid HC4. I reinstalled the OS following the instructions on armbian.com, flashing onto a MicroSD. After migrating the apps (mostly dockers), I found that restic (backup tool) was generating out of memory errors and bringing the system to a halt in a way the HC2 didn't. This surprised me as it's overall higher specced, and the configuration was otherwise identical. After some troubleshooting, I realised there was no swap drive specified, and that creating a swap eliminated my out of memory errors. I'm not sure if the source of the "problem" is the swapfile here, but it at least…

I've just installed Armbian Bookworm with the XFCE desktop on my Le Potato. Everything on the screen is larger than it should be so I checked the screen resolution in Settings->Display and it reports 1920x1080. However, when I go to screenresolutiontext.com it says I am at 960x540. What can I do to correct this? Thanks, Rich

Been having an issue where my idle temps are >60C The fan will spin for maybe a second or two and then turn off for 10-20 seconds Checking /sys/class/hwmon/hwmon2/pwm1 and it is set to 0 even though my MINPWM is set to 90 Even if I manually tee 90 to pwm1 it will eventually reset to 0 even with fancontrol turned off So something resetting without my input... fan1_input does read fan speed & pwm1_enabled is set to 1 lsof & auditd do not have any info as to what is overwriting the file Only way I can get the fan to stay on is to loop the tee command for a few seconds and then it is on that one speed Turning f…

Hello! I have installed on Armbian 24.8.1 noble (ubuntu 24.04) . Also I have enabled "UARTa" , "UARTc" in armbian-config utility. In /boot/armbianEnv.txt file: overlays=uartA uartC for enable UART port. There are many files /dev/ttyS[0-7] exists. After this I try connected to this ports, but no success (minicom -D /dev/ttySx). Python sripts with pyserial module output: "i/o error". The same problem I have noticed with previous versions of Armbian. I have checked on other distributive (Khadas version of ubuntu server) the uart port is worked fine. Does Armbia…

Hello All, Have a question, I see there is an option to use eMMC with the Le Potato aml-s905x-cc 1gb (which I got running yesterday), but what eMMC modules actually work with this board (I'm using a MicroSD card on my board at the moment)? Perhaps there should be a thread for Le Potato Hardware Options (just a thought)

Hi! You can find the armbianmonitor output attached to this thread. The issue is: when I use HDMI audio output with wine applications the entire system freezes very soon, usually after some seconds from the launch of the application. Some fraction of the latest played sound keeps looping very fast and both mouse and keyboard are unresponsive. All I can do is to unplug the power. This happens both on Odroid N2 and Odroid N2+. Everything works fine if I use some bluetooth headphones. And everything works fine if I use HDMI audio output with linux native applications. The problem is in the combination of Wine applications and HDMI audio output. Armbian Monitor Out…

Hello, after upgrading the Odroid C2 to the current Version on 16.08.2024 the USB-devices do not work at all. According to the diagnosis information they are recognized during during bootup. But later they are disconnected for an unknown reason. https://paste.armbian.com/jucovipaxo lsusb only lists two devices: Bus 001 Device 002: ID 05e3:0610 Genesys Logic, Inc. Hub Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub The suggested hack "usbcore.autosuspend=-1" for USB-problems is already activated, but USB doesn't work anyway Maybe there is a solution for this strange behavior of my C2.

I'm testing the Armbian image for Odroid N2+ ( Armbian_22.08.7_Odroidn2_jammy_current_5.19.17_xfce_desktop) to see if it's a good migration path from the HardKernel base image. Whatever I plug into the usb otg port, it doesn't get recognised. I think the port got disabled. What happened? I connected a new harddrive via usb3 but the machine wouldn't boot because of some "Unexpected XHCI event". I had to add a usbstoragequirks to u-boot env. (via armbian-config) to solve that, but now the usb otg port is no longer working. Googled a lot and found one possible solution but it did not work for me ( https://forum.banana-pi.org/t/topic/5485/13 ). https://paste.armbian.com/aqowuxukev

TL;DR Where in armbian build system correctly can be make N2-only related changes: 1. /boot ext4 volume have to have symlink . as boot, can be created with command ln -s ./ boot 2. kernel env variable set in boot.ini contain part but it shouldn't. This substring need to be removed if btrfs choosen. 3. /boot ext4 partition have only 4 MB free. I am not sure but think it's too small; for example there no space to run update-initramfs -u. I think it should be larger, like 500 MB. Long: I want to run my oDroid-N2 with root on BTRFS filesystem. I use manual on armbian image build and did time ./compile.sh BOARD=odroidn2 BRANCH=cur…

I have two Odroid C2s. One I have been using as NUT server for Eaton UPS. Today NUT clients report no connection. What seems to be the problem is the C2 (this happens with both, same SD card) are not seeing devices plugged into USB ports so the USB connection to the UPS is not working. I have verified the Eaton and USB cable are fine. I regularly update the C2 I wonder if a recent update has affected the USB port functioning? Any way to troubleshoot? I tried a few USB flash drives and then lsusb but none are seen.

Hello community, I'm a beginner with all that kernel and modules stuff, so please be kind, if I am asking stupid questions. I was trying Jammy (autobuild) with kerenl 5.15.18 on Khadas Vim3 4GB RAM, but is does not start, no HDMI output, no LED activity. Then I tried Hirsute with kerenl 5.13 and that boots fine, but after update new kernel (5.15) and also u-boot is installed and then it does not start again. My solution for now is to boot Hirsute with 5.13 and replace all edge packages with current (linux-dtb-current-meson64, linux-image-current-meson64, and linux-u-boot-khadas-vim3-current). This downgrades the kernel to 5.10.81, but the board can be updated and boots fine.

Odroid-N2 using Armbian_20.08.1_Odroidn2_focal_current_5.8.5 I've recently got a "Connection timed out" issue. For instance, I can open files with nano, use htop, armbian-config, update and upgrade packages, but I can't reboot (everything over ssh). I'm having a feeling that the issue started when I tried to figure out if it's possible to get HDMI to work with my 4K TV when the HDMI cable is not plugged in at boot. In that case, I booted several times and chaged boot.ini with setenv display_autodetect "false", setenv hdmimode "1080p60hz" and setenv disablehpd "true" without success. armbianmonitor -u information is attached at the end in my post where this line migh…

Introduction: I used Armbian Imager to flash Armbian 26.8.1 XFCE onto my Le Potato AML-S905X-CC-V1.0-A. Problem: On boot of the Le Potato, I could see the setup text via HDMI output on my monitor. But after setup was complete, the HDMI output would stop and my monitor would go to sleep. There was no longer HDMI output after initial boot. Solution: So I needed to SSH in over ethernet and run these commands to resolve this issue: echo "blacklist simpledrm" | sudo tee /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-simpledrm.conf sudo update-initramfs -u sudo reboot This fixed my HDMI output issue and I can use my Le Potato b…

I would like to use the mmc commands available in uboot on this board. I am able to boot properly in this mode and "help" properly lists all the commands available in this mode. On my board Armbian is running in EMMC. When I invoke "mmc" or the "mmcinfo" commands the system replies with the following error: Card did not respond to voltage select If I insert an Sdcard in the slot these two commands do respond properly which implies that uboot is seeing the Sdcard as default. Is there a way to redirect these commands to the EMMC? Regards

I can not reiterate enough just how easy it is to "clone" your modified emmc, or microSD card OS, ... into an image file that you can easily restore with (balena)Ethcher afterwards, and all withiin Linux. 1:/ you'll need a USB-card-reader-adapter. 2:/ no matter how your USB-reader card reader sees your emmc, microSD card, ..., it'll most likely be mounted on a /dev/sda1 partition. 3:/ sudo dd bs=4M if=/dev/sda of=~/tmp/armbian_odroidc4_11_01_2025.img (you don't dd the partition, you dd the drive). 4:/ (optionally) sudo xz -v armbian_odroidc4_11_01_2025.img (this will take some time). ...and that's it, ... and you know the rest.

Hello everyone, I am trying to get a Bigtreetech PiTFT70 DSI screen working on my Banana Pi CM4 mounted on a Bigtreetech Manta M8P 3D printer control board. It is supposedly a clone of the Raspberry Pi 7inch DSI display and uses the same display and touch chips. The DSI port on the M8P is wired to DSI 1 port on the Bpi CM4. I have tried hacking together a device tree overlay for it but I don't know enough of what needs turning on and what addresses they require (i2c etc) to get it working. Can anyone with Amlogic meson knowledge assist me? I am running the latest armbian bookworm 23.8 with all current updates installed.

Hi everybody, I just got a hand on a generic tv box powered by 4 cores S905x. Performance from this tv box is not satisfied for me. So I am thinking about this VIM4. Can anyone please tell me how is single core and multi cores cpu performance on VIM4 vs S905x? How much faster is it?

Is it possible to enable the I2S service (for audio) on BananaPim2pro? In the program configuration: armbian-config / manage device tree overlays...there are no entries for: I2S. Maybe someone already knows what to enter or how to enable it 🙂

Hi Everyone, I'm trying to get audio out of my N2+ via SPDIF on the 7 pin header, or any gpio pin if necessary. So far I have confined my SPDIF output works with the official Odroid MATE image, and also that I can get audio out via the 3.5mm jack on armbian after flowing this post . I have tried to understand the amixer wizardry but no luck achieving anything so am a bit stuck as I would really like to use armbian over the Odroid image. Thanks for any help!

Good morning, after some time using armbian on my OdroidN2 with great success (got Nextcloud with working Talk installed, external USB, Minecraft server, nginx, LetsEncrypt, Netdata...) I encountered some problems I am not able to solve by myself: I bought a RTC battery and a LED power button to "finalize" my Odroid (hardwarewise), and to my surprise both did not work as expected. RTC: It says: chris@OdroidN2:~$ sudo hwclock hwclock: select() to /dev/rtc0 to wait for clock tick timed out cat /proc/interrupts |grep rtc ...gives me also no return (empty string), so i guess there is a module missing in the kernel : chris@Odroi…

After performing a warm reboot the system fails to start. Get error message boot device not found. Power cycling fixes the issue. Using Armbian 25.8.1 image that is available for download (minimal trixie). Board is a LibreCompter Sweet Potato. Thanks,

I prefer Debian to Ubuntu. Is there a possibility the VIM3 version will run on the VIM4 (doubtful)? Is anyone currently working of Debian Bulleye support for the VIM4, or interested in befinning a port? Larry

Today we got working UART A, so I decided to wire up a cheap DCF77 receiver to it. Khadas VIM1S is an upcoming low-profile single board computer powered by an Amlogic S905Y4 quad-core Cortex-A35 processor that’s meant to provide an upgrade to the Amlogic S905X-powered Khadas VIM SBC introduced in 2016, and since then renamed to Khadas VIM1. Khadas has been teasing two new SBCs: the low-end Khadas VIM1S with S905Y4 SoC, and the most powerful Khadas Edge2 board equipped with a Rockchip RK3588S octa-core Cortex-A76/A55 processor. I have received both as you can clearly see from the photo above :), but I’m only allowed to write about information available publicly at this time, so today I’ll introduce the Khadas VIM1S which looks just like the VIM1 board.
