  6. So Le Potato (and Sweet potato) take about 10 seconds before reaching systemd. Is there a way to speed this up? I've tried putting boot_delay=0 as well as console=serial in armbianEnv.txt in hope of shortening the time in u-boot, but these didn't change anything. I've also tried building this image with no initramfs and no loadable module support.

  9. Hi, I'm curious, is there any qualitative difference between the dedicated application images and the Minimal image followed by a "normal" manual installation of the given application? For example OpenMediaVault (OMV) which comes with tailored installation instructions for Armbian. IOW, does the dedicated application image "only " take care of the OMV installation for you, or is there more to it which I might miss when installing OMV myself (on top of the minimal image)? Thanks!

  11. For the second time today on my few-days-old Odroid N2+ build with Buster desktop I have a system-wide freeze. Blue LED is constantly on and there is no response to keyboard or mouse events. Was interacting with Plex both times but I only have Plex, Tautulli and Samba server set up. I'm loath to pull the power but 30mins in to the second freeze (I pulled the plug on the first one). What should I be looking for when I get it running again?

  12. Libre La Frite · Started by TonyMac32,

I know there is a template, but this board is already on the download page as unsupported, just ran a group of tests on it after building a full desktop image, I think we can move it to supported without any issues, the S805X is the same as an S905X with some things turned off, like comparing an H3 and an H2+. Pros: SPI contains u-boot, we don't have to do anything with that. Libre Computer updates the firmware periodically (available on their site) already supports USB boot, etc, and has a "press escape for menu" option, making it very difficult to brick. UMS mode is menu selectable (I feel like we need to look at this. I hav…

I have two Le Potato boards (http://ix.io/2ykP http://ix.io/2ykN), I installed Armbian Focal on them. One of the board has defective HDMI (board from Kickstarter?), it has no HDMI output. Other board was ordered from Amazon, a year later. Then for VIM2 and VIM3 (maybe VIM3L and VIM1 too) the HDMI audio isn't working as it should. https://armbian.atlassian.net/browse/AR-1095 I once was…

  25. I was trying Jammy (autobuild) with kerenl 5.15.18 on Khadas Vim3 4GB RAM, but is does not start, no HDMI output, no LED activity. Then I tried Hirsute with kerenl 5.13 and that boots fine, but after update new kernel (5.15) and also u-boot is installed and then it does not start again. My solution for now is to boot Hirsute with 5.13 and replace all edge packages with current (linux-dtb-current-meson64, linux-image-current-meson64, and linux-u-boot-khadas-vim3-current). This downgrades the kernel to 5.10.81, but the board can be updated and boots fine.

Khadas VIM1S is an upcoming low-profile single board computer powered by an Amlogic S905Y4 quad-core Cortex-A35 processor that’s meant to provide an upgrade to the Amlogic S905X-powered Khadas VIM SBC introduced in 2016, and since then renamed to Khadas VIM1. Khadas has been teasing two new SBCs: the low-end Khadas VIM1S with S905Y4 SoC, and the most powerful Khadas Edge2 board equipped with a Rockchip RK3588S octa-core Cortex-A76/A55 processor. I have received both as you can clearly see from the photo above :), but I’m only allowed to write about information available publicly at this time, so today I’ll introduce the Khadas VIM1S which looks just like the VIM1 board. I'm running "Armbian_24.2.1_Lepotato_bookworm_current_6.6.16_cinnamon_desktop.img", has anyone found a solution to this problem? 30. Install of Armbian 21.02.2 Buster with Linux version 5.7.15-meson64 and gpiod package installed on the Odroid N2 does not work for gpiomon. The gpiod command gpioinfo and gpioget work fine. Gpiomon fails with message "No such device". Searching for hours I believe the issue is that interrupts have not been assigned to the gpiopins, so appropriate devices don't exist. Any information on when/how to get a fully functional gpiod and associated python package going. Python code using python3-libgpiod also fails on the line.request function with the same "No such device" error.

  32. Hello everyone, I've recently started migrating a project for Banana Pi M5 from Debian 10 Buster to Armbian, because I've found that the latest versions of it now support the GPU, Mali G31, and come with Panfrost OpenGL driver, which is crucial for this project. 33. Hi, This is my first try to add a board to armbian build system. I got a BPI M2S since several months, but only had time recently to investigate on this promising SBC. I made a PR here, if somebody wants to try it: https://github.com/armbian/build/pull/4597 The main improvements are to be done for the dts file, since I'm not an expert about such file definition. Only 1 ethernet of the Gbit ports is working, since I copy the config from vim3 that share the same hardware for it. 44. Odroid N2+ booting from eMMC with a 4TB USB drive. With the USB drive disconnected, the system boots fine and very quickly. With the USB drive connected, it throws hundreds of errors for about 30 seconds before finally moving on and booting from the eMMC. I have no desire to ever boot from SD or USB, so I would like to just disable those options. I found this topic https://forum.armbian.com/topic/10349-disable-u-boot-usb-support/ but I can't really follow what they're talking about and I have no idea how to patch U-boot or build a new boot image. Is there an easier way to do this? Here's what the errors look like: Hit any key to stop autoboot: …

  45. Hi, Like the title says the UART overlays are not working on the armbian radxa zero device if I use the official out-of-the-box image. Using the armbian-config I can enable UART A and B but these changes do not reflect in the /dev/tty devices (using other distros is can see /dev/ttyAML0, /dev/ttyAML1 and /dev/ttyAML4). Unless the devices are called something else i confirm that the overlays are not working. That being said I want to recompile a armbian image with the correct overlays but I am a complete noob. Here is my plan : i successfully compiled a minimal cli armbian image for the radxa zero without any…

  46. I am having trouble installing specific hardware dkms because the dkms requires the linux header files for the installed kernel version which are not available or do not exist. Armbian 23.05.1 Ubuntu 22.04 desktop version is build with kernel 6.6.63 but an apt search for the relevant headers finds none. Headers exist for 6.2, 6.5 and 6.8 but not for 6.6. How can I address this?

  47. Hi everyone, I'm experiencing a severe boot delay on my Banana Pi M5 running Server Armbian Image (v25.2.2 - Banana Pi M5 - Armbian Linux 6.12.21-current-meson64) when no HDMI monitor is connected. The board itself is working fine, but without an HDMI connection, the system takes several long minutes to complete the boot process. Details The system boots normally and quickly when an HDMI monitor is attached. However, without a monitor, in headless mode , the boot process is significantly delayed several minutes (approx. 4 minutes). Blue led blinking normaly. 48. Khadas VIM4 · Started by pgd,

I have a brand new VIM4 NPU bare board in fanless aluminum case with power supply and Khadas cable. Khadas Ubuntu versions with gnome desktop work perfectly without any slowdown in both emmc and sd version but armbian desktops do not work! Only xfce (via oowow or latest armbian.com version) launches after several minutes but then presents slowdowns. All versions with cinnamon (oblique lines) and gnome (armbian logo) freeze after launching the desktop environment whether with an installation on emmc sd or usb… No problems with server versions, only desktop versions… I wonder if it is the fact of not having a fan and/or the NPU chip that makes the Armbian desktops…

  51. Odroid C2 · Started by bolet75,

Odroid-C2 (there was no adequate tag) After I upgraded my ssd install from 23.11.1 to 24.2.1, the board didn't boot. When starting 24.2.1 from a fresh sd card, usb and disk leds are on, and the board boots. But they don't show in lsusb. If I reconnect them after the board is booted, the leds stay off (and obviously they don't show in lsusb). Of course, booting from external ssd stops at some point, because usb is lost during the boot (when connecting a display, the failures start to happen on armbian services). Had to restore previous release 23.11.1 from backup on my ssd. Everything works again.

It has been suggested (https://ubuntu-mate.community/t/how-to-configure-xorg/26732/3) that I disable this device in the kernel, hopefully, via a kernel option such as : video=None-1:d Does anyone know where (which file) and how (specific method) I should do this?

It is basically moved down by ~1cm from the center. I have already had this problem, but it "self solved" by updating the kernel, so i have no hint to solve the problem, only that it is very likely caused by something in the kernel. For the display i use an HDMI connector. I have attached the armbianmonitor log, if some more info are needed, you have only to ask. Thanks in advance for the time and dedicated effort. 62. Hi, I recently bought Odroid N2+ (4GB) as a replacement for my raspberry pi 4. With legacy kernel 4.9 boars seems to be working fine. But when I flashed latest 5.10 kernel version it boots but without HDMI signal. I've read some topics here and in hardkernel forum and my conclusion is that my monitor resolution (3440x1440@60Hz) might not be supported by the kernel. I use this monitor. After some tinkering I was able to boot with video by passing following string to bootargs: setenv bootargs ${bootargs} "video=HDMI-A-1:2560x1440@60" Unfortunately the image is flickering and almost unusable in most cases. 64. In my quest to use an ODROID N2 as a time server, I had to figure out how to enable UART_EE_A. Device trees for other boards sometimes enable UART A in the base device tree but the ODROID N2/N2+ does not. I am not sure why device trees don't fully define devices like UART_A and then just leave them disabled instead of partially defining them with missing "pinctrl" entries (as in the N2 device tree). Anyway, I've attached `meson-g12b-odroid-uart-ee-a.dtso` as an example of how to enable UART_EE_A. Additionally: The DT overlays for Meson UARTs (e.g. `/boot/dtb/amlogic/overlay/meson-uartA.dtbo`) are not compatible with …

According to what I experienced, meson driver development is leaded by oibaf and in advance in ubuntu but here aegisub does exists only on debian. The idea was thus to boot on debian jammy and chroot i…

  92. Yakov, Why do you list Armbian 23.5 Jammy as a supported load on https://www.armbian.com/radxa-zero/ Armbian 23.5 Jammy works on the 2G version of the Radxa Zero board. Armbian 23.5 Jammy does NOT work on 1G version of Radxa Zero. (and presume the .5G version) - Boot failure loop after identifying boot device on 1G version of Radxa Zero. Has this been fixed? In which version? Where do we find it? Armbian_22.08.0-trunk_Radxa-zero_bullseye_current_5.10.134_minimal.img.xz works on 1G version of Radxa Zero. - https://github.com/radxa-build/radxa-zero/releases/tag/20220801-0213

  95. Libre Le Potato · Started by jonnyvh,

Hi there, I have two Le Potatos, one for each of my boys. One of them has Raspbian OS on it and the other has Armbian. What we have found is that the one with Raspbian is able to run Scratch (https://scratch.mit.edu/), but the one that I have loaded with Armbian gives an error that says that WebGL is not working properly on Chromium. On Firefox I don't get an error, but Scratch doesn't work right. I purchased these on the same day, so as far as I know, the hardware should be the same. Is there a way to enable WebGL on Armbian so that my boys can use Scratch on this system? In case it helps: https://paste.armbian.com/wepugikade

  96. Libre Le Potato · Started by echo7394,

Been using the Lepotato with Armbian fine for a few weeks. Typically accessing via ssh over the network, suddenly after a reboot, it's not appearing on my network, solid red light, solid green light, and a blue heartbeat as well as the NIC light blinking as if network connection is functioning normally, but my network is not assigning an IP address and the potato isnt sending any packets. What might the problem be here? HDMI shows no output, using Armbian Jammy made for the tato.

  97. I loose the HDMI signal and screen get black because startx (main launcher script to enter Xorg!) from xinit package has been forgotten to be installed. After doing the magic combination CTRL+ALT+F1/F2 and login in console mode, this will fix the issue and open the gates of cinnamon sudo apt install xinit Enjoy , SoSie

  98. Sorry if I ask, but I can't seem to find an actual definitive answer anywhere about this. Is there at the moment or will be in the future a way to have an hardware accelerated MATE desktop using armbian on le potato? And if there is/will be, what limitations does/would it have? (opengl/window compositing/video decoding/video encoding...) Thanks in advance

  99. So, first of all, pretty much a newbie here. I'm trying to add protonvpn to my HC4. I was able to do it with Ubuntu Mate (from the HC4 webpage) on the same hardware, so I'm pretty sure it's possible on Armbian. To be fair, the ProtonVPN website says that raspbian is not supported (and I assume they meant to say ARM) but I have been able to get it to work on Mate, and the problem on Armbian seems to be the Public Key and nothing else. After installation, the app will start, but won't work, so some successful compiling for ARM seems to be happening. What I did: - Downloaded the deb file for Debian based stable release - Tried GDebi and Apt, but dpkg wo…

  100. I recently upgraded from an Odroid HC2 to and Odroid HC4. I reinstalled the OS following the instructions on armbian.com, flashing onto a MicroSD. After migrating the apps (mostly dockers), I found that restic (backup tool) was generating out of memory errors and bringing the system to a halt in a way the HC2 didn't. This surprised me as it's overall higher specced, and the configuration was otherwise identical. After some troubleshooting, I realised there was no swap drive specified, and that creating a swap eliminated my out of memory errors. I'm not sure if the source of the "problem" is the swapfile here, but it at least…
