  1. For some reason the default UART utilized by uboot is uart2 on the Tinker. I haven't messed with it, and left it alone, but vendor uses UART1, and UART2 has a conflict with PWM pins. I'm in favor of changing, if anyone objects or has a more interesting idea, please discuss.

  3. Hello, I've installed armbian with Debian Trixie on my Odroid-M1 to replace the Ubuntu installed via petitboot. Everything was running smoothly except the networking part which was very slow (with luck some 100kbit/s) and has shown very high packetloss, even while the switch and ethtool report absolutely no problems and replacing cables and switching ports didn't help. Switching to 100Mbit/s was working fine, no loss anymore, switching back to 1G caused massive packet loss. With some help from chatgpt and another M1 I own that was still running the hardkernel/petitboot installed kernel and dtb I could trace the issue down the RGMII timing…

  4. Has anyone played with kvm or xen on the hw-virt capable rockchip devices? Im trying to setup a simple kvm scenario. Im using Armbian tinker stable and the excellent @Myy 4.13 kernel and have configured it for guest and host support. Im struggling to get the boards up in "Normal" (PL2 / Hyp) mode. I can only get them to boot in "Secure" mode, which is the normal method of boot. Secure boot disables access to Privilege Level 2 and the ARM Hypervisor which makes virtualisation impossible. I have tried setting "bootm_boot_mode=nonsec" but it makes no difference, I still get "kvm [1]: HYP mode not available" during boot. Same as I get with "bootm_boot_mode=sec" wh…

  5. Topic to discuss RK3288 overlays, primarily concerning ASUS Tinker Board, the MiQi is technically EOL and has very little GPIO anyway, and TV boxes are more or less sealed. Kernel 4.19 will be the pilot for this, the discussion now that it seems to be working thanks to @martinayotte and @zador.blood.stained's feedback and examples is what to overlay. For testing/debugging I started with some ASUS overlays for RTC and 1wire. Easy ones: spidev out of the default tree but as default overlays. instead of making 1 overlay and messing with parameters, just make 2 overlays DAC's: I don't have a lot of hardware to play with, but @…

  7. HI all, first of all, I found thi sissue adopting a new board to the CSC tree, done by @balbes150. As it seems to be a problem of RK3288 in general, I post here, in case please move the topic to the approriate place. I have a JLD076 board, and started adjusting the DTS to the schematic. According to the schematic, and the TRM of RK3289, there is a maximum number of 160 GPIOs. This is also the number I get from my schematics. So I expected th get suitable number of pins from gpioinfo (bank:number 0:19, 1:4, 2:18, 3:28, 4:26, 5:12, 6:19, 7:24, 8:10). Instead, I get listed (0:24, 1...7:32, 8:16). I tried now to set ngpios for the &…

I've been (trying) to move the Tinker and MiQi u-boots to 2020.07, however if I use any of the following: A MiQi, A Tinker S an image for a Tinker S an image for a Tinker on a Tinker S I get stuck in the initramfs busybox with it telling me the filesystem is toast. The only 2020.07 combo I've gotten to boot is the Tinker with the non-eMMC supporting u-boot. As for clues, I haven't found any, the u-boot source code is of course very well organized for debugging purposes . If anyone has an idea about what could be going on with this let me know, I'm shelving the effort to think about other stuff.

  11. Hi, I installed "Armbian_20.02.7_Tinkerboard_buster_current_5.4.28_minimal" at my tinkerboard and, in order to enable uart 4, I had to rebuild the kernel onboard (from linux-source-current-rockchip_20.02.7_all.deb). However, the kernel headers provided by the repository: linux-headers-rockchip64 - Linux kernel headers for 4.4.156-rockchip64 on arm64 do not match the kernel provided by the repository: linux-image-rockchip64 - Linux kernel, version 4.4.162-rockchip64 This is after updating the cache just now and yes, both packages are installed. Is there some way I can guarantee that the version of my installed kernel and headers always match (apart from compiling them myself)? In order to enumerate the major issues that are *still* valid now, I'm creating a 'crash dump' thread. The idea is simple, if your RK3399 board crashed recently, you just : Write what happened during the crash; Provide the link you got from sudo armbianmonitor -u , after the crash happened; Provide the content of /var/log/kern.log (if this file is present on your system) (attach it or copy the content on pastebin and link it here). No discussion here. Feel free to create a new dedicated thread afterwards to talk about the problem you encountered. Minor issues are welcome too, if they trigger a BUG message in your logs…

We hope the transfer rate could be well over 1Gbps, the higher, the better. So has anybody ever benchmarked RK3399 USB in peripheral mode? 21. I've compiled mainline kernel 6.6 which runs well on my OrangePi/RK3399. The only problem left is getting H.264 decoding working. Unfortunately, when I query /dev/video1 which is the node created by the hantro-vpu driver, only MPEG2 and VP8 are shown as supported codecs for decoding. No H.264, even though I've read many places that the mainline hantro driver supports H.264. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there something else I need to do to get this working?

For example, when compiling ffmpeg, it works fine with 'make -j6', but 'make -j8' results in a shutdown before compilation is complete. 48. None of the images from https://www.armbian.com/rockpi-s/ work (neither minimal nor cli). I tried writing minimal image onto SD NAND and tried booting both cli and minimal from SD card. I tried 2 different SD cards too. Board was connected through UART0 to PC and while I get output when I use rkdeveloptool, there is no output when trying to boot normally. However, latest image from https://github.com/radxa/rock-pi-s-images-released/releases works (rockpis_debian_buster_server_arm64_20210924_0412-gpt.img) does boot if I write it to SD NAND or SD card. 50. I am experiencing an issue with my Rock Pi S. When using SPI1, I am not observing any CLK output signal on pin GPIO3_B3, which I have verified with an oscilloscope. Other signals such as MOSI, MISO, and CS are functioning correctly. I have found that this issue does not occur in the older kernel 4.4.143-65-rockchip-g58431d38f8f3. However, when using the latest Armbian 25.2.2 Bookworm Minimal / IOT image, this problem arises. Could someone please assist me in resolving this problem?

  53. Downloaded Debian 13 (Trixie)Minimal / IOT kernel 6.18 onto SD and had it working 24/7 for about 2-3 days with no problems. I selected the option to copy the content of the SD card to an NVME, updated the MTD flash and set it as first boot option and now the device wont boot from nvme, SD or USB. How can I recover the unit?

  63. It would be nice to be able to use hardware crypto for VPNs. The rockchip's hardware crypto acceleration has apparently been supported since Kernel 4.5. I noticed that the CONFIG_CRYPTO_DEV_ROCKCHIP option hadn't been compiled into the standard Armbian builds, so I built a custom kernel. Having the rk_crypto module loaded gives me additional ciphers in /proc/crypto as expected. Without the module loaded (either blacklisted with my build, or with the normal Armbian kernel), my tunnel (IKEv2/IPSEC w Strongswan) works fine. But with the module installed, no traffic passes. Sometimes I see kernel errors in syslog. A couple of tim…

Hi folks... Looking at RK3288 on Armbian and the power/thermals - which are considerable considering SBC's like tinkerboard and miqi Currently - looks like all cores are following the same power/time domain - so one core goes fast, and the others follow, so sucks power and raises temps, and we get heat soaked quickly... Looking at the Rockchip docs, it does look like the RK3288 does have PD's for each core along with other logic... Six separate power domains for every core to support internal power switch and externally turn on/off based on different application scenario * PD_A17_0: 1st Cortex-A17 + Neon + FPU + L1 I/D Cache * PD_A…

  67. Hello community, I am working on a multi-channel audio project using a Rock Pi S (Rockchip RK3308) running a modern Mainline Kernel (6.18.y-current-rockchip64). My hardware setup relies on a fixed wiring where the Master Clock (MCLK) is connected to Pin 7 (GPIO2_A4) and BCLK is connected to Pin 12 (GPIO2_A5) using the i2s_8ch_0 controller. The Goal: We want to keep the working I2S/TDM master device tree foundation but replace the old, silent dummy codec (linux,spdif-dit) with the actual internal hardware codec (rockchip,rk3308-codec), so that ALSA maps the channels correctly instead of routing them into a digital void. 69. Hi. I have RockPi E v1.21 and I found, that I'm not able to boot image with new kernel 6.12 (tried minimal images 25.2.1 and 24.11.1, USBImager and Balena Etcher, 3 SD cards, different power supplies). With image 24.8.3 it boots normally. Also I found, that after upgrading 24.8.3 to kernel 6.12 the RockPi boots, but Ethernet doesn't work (even LEDs are dead). Another thing which I notice is, that I didn't find any option to disable kernel upgrades, but what I googled, it should be present in armbian-config->system->kernel->Y203. But this Y203 option is missing. Here is successful boot log of 24.8.3: https://paste.armbian.com/ixuvimofis.sql …

On the Rockpro64, with the latest Amrbian dev kernel (5.4.0-rc1-rockchip64 updated on 19th of January), the sata hard drive connected to PCIe through the pine store adapter does not go to sleep anymore. It is properly set with hdparm and a udev rule, it used to work fine with the dev kernel before the 19th of January update. Now, if I issue a sleep commd (hdpram -y /dev/sda) it goes to sleep properly but not by itself after the 5 minutes inactivity I have set up. Mathias

  98. Dear Armbian community, Yesterday morning, after apt upgrade my Rockpro64 not boot (the white and red led stayed lit). After some tries I managed to get a boot again but I now have a "init not found" error, as you can see on the screenshot. What have been done so far : - Install an Ubuntu as "debug" platform - Follow the recovery steps from Armbian website - Put on eMMC storage a 5.15.63 by copying the files from Armbian - Check if UUID was consistent between partition, boot config, ... ==> this is the case - Made a fsck : no errors found ==> I would like to try this : https://askubuntu.com/questions/…

  100. We talk about test of different parts. It was orginal one topic but split. The other is https://forum.armbian.com/topic/12936-how-to-control-fan-on-rockpro64 @deathisunknown Which kernel are you using? 5.3.xxx? Until this week end, I was using Ayufan's kernel in order to have ats working (I have the nas box with a harddrive so I want to have some ventilation). I've switched to Armbian's current kernel (5.3.xxx, I don't remember the exact subversion) and noticed that the fan would not spin. Then I tried Armbian's dev kernel (5.4.0-rc1) and my fan works fine. I stumbled upon this thread in the mean time, but since as I remember the lates…
