Hello, Thank you ahead of time!! I realize there is not an armbian disro for the roc 3328 renegade. It does seem that you all can help with my issue though. I recently patched and compiled a kernel to run real time with the rt preempt. The issue I'm running into is this thing doesn't use grub , so I can't choose the kernel at boot up like a x86 and it doesn't have a config file like a rspi. Is there a way around this ? I'm way out of my comfort zone here. According to what I have read, I need to copy the vmlinuzrt18 to the area where the present kernel is being called now. I admitting find the whole u boot thing confusing. Can anyone help me out? Th…

https://justpaste.it/5jszu I tried with I2C connected and disconnected between screen and tinkerboard. No change. (See below, looks like i2c-3/3-0045/tinker_mcu_bl is missing ). I checked around that area and tinker_mcu_bl is missing, but folder 3-0045 exists with lots of files in there. (bottom of the post) From dmesg I also see that i2c had a failure (ret = -6). (see next paste) Looking forward I see that -6 is no device found on i2c bus (assuming that's correct?). Does anyone know if brightness control works? So a clean install of "Armbian 25.2.1 Noble Gnome" with the vendor kernel (6.1.99) fails to boot when installed on an nvme SSDwith the armbian-install script, when btrfs is chosen as the partition type. I am not sure if the files are copied over correctly, since the ~6GB image on the SD card is copied as 2.9GB on the btrfs partition, but there are no errors occuring as far as I can see. The bootloader is up-to-date, and I can access the btrfs drive when booted from the SD card, so the kernel supports btrfs I guess? However, I think there are some things going "wrong", since the armbianEnv.txt file on the nvme SSD has ext4 instead of btrfs as the ro…

I got wierd screen blinking after update kernel from 5.8.18-rockchip to 5.9.14-rockchip. Here is blurry video with screen blinking. My screen resolution is 1600x900 and i'm using HDMI-to-VGA adapter. Hello I built the core minimal image successfully a few times while I was experimenting with kernel config options and then finally when I enabled all the settings I wanted somehow a different component of the build process started failing repeatedly since last few days: Why is this happening. Hello Guys. สมัครสมาชิกufabet เว็บพนันบอลต่างประเทศ I want to extend the current kernel (Tinkerboard with rockchip-kernel-4.4.120 on Debian-Armbian) to include IR (GPIO) and DVB modules. Hello!! I got Dolphin running under Armbian and it seems its mainly GPU bound for the games that Iv'e tested. I am aware that the Panfrost drivers are not optimal but I thought I'd like to try and squeeze a few extra fps out of this setup by overclocking the GPU if that's possible. Is it? And does anyone know how I can do that? Cheers!

https://libre.computer/products/roc-rk3399-pc/ Can the computer run entirely on free software which is software you can use, share, modify and redistribute? The question includes firmware, microcode, etc, any piece of software that is running on the computer. If some devices on the computer requires non free software in order to work then what devices are they? And will the computer still work if you choose to not install the pieces of non free software in question? Thank you.

Hey, I’m running armbian on a tinkerboard and I need to connect to a CAN-bus. Apparently the usual Linux CAN-kernel-modules aren’t shipped with armbian, so I guess I’ll have to add them manually somehow. I`ve been trying to do that for two days now without any luck. I’ve been trying to follow the steps described in other forums, but it haven’t helped. I really just want to add the necessary modules to my existing kernel. Any ideas?

Other img's that boot are OK: Deb-xfce, noble-cinnamon, noble-neon... Someone got success with this img??? Good evening, last week they changed the electric meter in my building, but in order to do so they cut the power, and my Tinkerboard (the first model, the one issued back in 2017, Asus first's SBC), that I use as my "Save for later, and never look at it again" network folder, suffered. It continued to reboot from some kernel panic, which I forgot to take note; but since it hadn't been upgraded to jammy, I took the opportunity to do it. Pluging in the uSD card (with the newly released jammy version, just downloaded here), power, and all (including the ethernet cord!!), first boot I have to create my user (which, for some reasons refuses to let me put my usual fr3d tag…

Hi, I spent several days trying to figure this out, which is a bit confusing given all the information that is available and posts and wikis saying that "Waveshare" LCDs are supposed to work, but something is still not right, hope you guys can help. What I have: ASUS Tinker Board S, flashed with Armbian_5.90_Tinkerboard_Debian_buster_default_4.4.182_desktop.img Updated to 4.19.57-rockchip via armbian-config (in order to get the fbtft* modules that were missing in 4.4). Ok so I think I have this figured out. It doesn't work at all in Armbian 23.05.1 with the 6.x kernel no matter what I try. It does work in the older Armbian 23.02.2 Jammy (kernel 5.15.93) but the given instructions didn't work for me and needed additional commands. I had to enable the rk3328-opp-1.5ghz overlay or else the max frequency was locked to 1296 MHz. I also found the MAX_SPEED value in the instructions to be too low. To get it to work in 23.02.2: First you have to enable the rk3328-opp-1.5ghz overlay in armbian-config (System > Hardware > rk3328-opp-1.5ghz) or just add it to the overlays line in /boot/armbianEnv.txt and reboot. Next open the /et…

So recently I flashed Orange Pi OS to SD card, booted from there, updated system, firmware and flashed bootloader to SPI flash. I already had an external HDD with Armbian flashed, and tried to boot from there, but no luck. Afterwards, I tried to boot Armbian from SD card, but I can't boot any system that is not Orange Pi OS (and especifically, it needs to be from SD card, can't also boot from USB even in OPi OS). Tried with different SD cards and USB devices, no luck I believe I need to erase SPI flash in order to boot from SD again, but, how can I do it? Used latest OrangePi OS and Armbian Jammy CLI from 23/01 (stable release)

Hello, I'm using Ubuntu noble lts with kernel 6.1 it appears. I've enabled the orangepi-5-sata overlay. In the photos I have showed how I've connected it. When plugging in the pi with my official 5v 4a usbc charger, the adapter lights up for awhile. I'm not sure if it needs to stay on. I then check fdisk -l and nothing new appears. This drive works if I put the sata to usb connector on it and plug it in - so it's not the drive.

hi all, I am wondering if there's any reason that CEC is not built into legacy kernel for RK3399. In https://github.com/armbian/build/blob/master/config/kernel/linux-rk3399-legacy.config, module dw-hdmi-cec is not enabled. # CONFIG_DRM_DW_HDMI_CEC is not set If no special reason, I can make a PR for this. Subsequently, I used armbian-config to provide the default desktop (Cinnamon flavor). Thereafter, the CH340 board is incompletely recognized. Specifically, no device is presented as /dev/ttyUSB?. Hello everyone, I've begun working to target the Armbian Legacy Tinker Board build to the Rockchip kernel. There are a list of reasons why it needs done, including some relatively large differences between the current kernel's code base and the Rockchip kernel (making it hard to patch with bugfixes/etc) and inactivity on the part of the vendor of that kernel. There are also reasons I am preferring to use the Rockchip kernel rather than the ASUS kernel. First and formost is the need to also support the MiQi. The miniarm branch of Rockchip and the ASUS kernel have board-specific fixes written in such a way as to not be friendly to other boards. I've dec…

Using the 5.xx kernal I have been changing the eth0 MAC address at /etc/NetworkManager/system-connections/ 'Wired connection 1.nmconnection'. This has changed a bit as the versions progress - but version Armbian 21.08.2 Focal / Linux 5.14.5-rockchip64 has now moved the "wired ..." file to the /run/NetworkManager/system-connections/ and suspect the file is recreated at every boot (edits do not stick). I have tried to set MAC at /boot/armbianEnv.txt and in the eth config file. None work. Any ideas as to how to set the MAC address - and is it now even possible?.

Hello, I am using the lastest stable mainline kernel and would like to change my mac address before network-manager is started. I tried to change the mac address of wlan1 (which is an Edimax usb wifi stick) which works, but wlan0 (Tinkerboard internal wifi chip) gives me the message: Network driver didn't actually change to the new MAC!! Does it have something to do with the drivers used on Armbian? I am using sudo macchanger --mac 02:02:03:04:05:06 wlan0 Thanks for help.

Hi everyone! I have recently bought an Orange Pi 5 Plus (16 GB RAM) and installed Armbian (the Pi Plus version). Then I enabled GPU hardware acceleration, as suggested on the Armbian download page, which then updated chromium and other things to the rkmpp versions. Now, if I start chromium under Wayland (tried Sway, Gnome, and KDE), the hardware acceleration works nicely, so I get good FPS on e.g. WebGL aquarium, and similar things. However, the antialiasing of some items on the screen does not seem to be working. Antialiasing in WebGL seems off as well. You can see an example in the attached screenshot. Here's what I have tried so far: Before installing GP…

After installing official Armbian_25.2.1_Orangepi5-plus_bookworm_vendor_6.1.99_xfce_desktop.img to sdcard, then to nvme all is fine, until, I do an apt update & upgrade, after that point chromium fails to run. I explored the logs to see it a failure to load chromium.conf from /etc/chromium.d/chromium.config (failed symbolic link to /etc/armbian/chromium.config). Is there a known workaround besides utilization of firefox?

Every time I stop and then start Chromium, do a search on google, or on youtube, there seems to be a deletion of the cookies, and it asks consent again, login again .... I found lots of possible solutions on internet about that issue, but none work for me! I wonder what this is due to, any ideas?

Hello OPI5 users. Running Joshua Riek's Ubuntu distro, I keep getting stability issues. Perhaps because I keep using Xorg. Perhaps because hardware acceleration is buggy. In the past I used super stable Armbian OPI5 distro's without hardware acceleration. Infact I still use Armbian on another RK3588 box, I don't think it has EVER crashed, running docker, Mosquito, HomeAssistant, and a buch of other things. Now that my Orange Pi 5 gets a slightly more serious use as webserver, I really like to get rid of the unpredictable Xorg crashes, and gladly would sacrifice HW acceleration for stability. My situation is this: Using JR Ubuntu Because I …

But when touch the screen, the display gets messed up, looking like the colors are misaligned starting from an offset value. Anybody has experience of it ? Thank you! In order to review the Tinker Board boot logs via serial console, I set up armbianEnv.txt to get the logs. But Armbian didn't output anything. Can anyone tell me what is wrong? As long as I reviewed boot.cmd, the serial port was assigned to /dev/ttyS2. So I used UART2 GPIO pins (GP7C7 for TX, GP7C6 for RX) to interact. Was using my Orange Pi 5 and it rebooted on it's own. After that, it continually reboots. Been running fine for months. Tried restarting a few times. Tried swapping SD cards. It looks like the power supply is OK, although I'll try swapping with another. I had just backed up the SD Card too. I'll try re-imaging an SD card, but I'm thinking the SD card may not be the issue. I hooked up my UART and captured output. At the end of each loop, it looks like it's saying "Starting Kernel" and then restarting. Captured output follows. Any ideas, suggestions or comments on what's happening. I'm thinking it's probably a hardware issue. I …

Hello people, I am trying to set CPU Governors but all the cores change to the same clock and cpufreq-info reports "CPUs which run at the same hardware frequency: 0 1 2 3", with that even one thread working is making the CPU scale up all clocks and heat more than it should, is there a way to unlink them and each one have their own clocks according to each core processing load?

Hello everyone, I recently installed my orangePi 5 to pass workload from my x86 servers over to the orangePi. My main focus is to reduce my overall energy consumption of my homelab. TL;DR Kernel thinks, that while being idle the sweet spot for the frequencies in "ondemand" and "schedutil" is: 1024MHz on the small chips (CPU0-3) 816MHZ on the big chips (CPU4+5, CPU6+7) Reason is an internal cost calculation power vs. frequency gain, which sorts out the lower frequencies. Long story: After getting my first orangePi5 in place, I started to play around with the hardware. I am running: █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █…

What is the current status of Pinebook Pro? I see there were Pinebook-Pro-specific install images for older version of Armbian, but there doesn't appear to be any for more recent versions, and currently, the download page points to (non-machine-specific?) UEFI install images. Is this a transition that was discussed/announced, and can I read the discussion/announcement in archives somewhere? Also, does anyone have any installation/testing reports? Is 25.02 known to work on the Pinebook Pro? I've tried a few different times to create a Armbian SDCard for my Pinebook Pro. I've only had one success, one one of my early attempts. Unfortu…

As https://www.armbian.com/tinkerboard/ has a quite fresh 4.14 Linux kernel (in Armbian Stretch Next Desktop 5.50) I am trying to use that instead of the standard TinkerOS 2.0.7 with a 4.4.103 kernel. However, Armbian is configured to provide only spidev2.0, while TinkerOS can have spidev0.0, spidev0.1, spidev2.0 and spidev2.1 all enabled at the same time as long as you disable UART4 which shares GPIO header pins with SPI0. In the TinkerOS case, there is a config tool which edits a small and straightforward text file in /boot/ containing lines such as "intf:spi0=on" or "intf:uart4=off". Hi guys. I have been using a RockPro64 as a miniserver for many years. It runs stable most of the time. I have assigned it a host name "ab2" via armbian-config. It usually responds well to this alias. Only from time to time it happens that it no longer responds to the hostname. Only a reboot helps. Do you have any idea what this could be? PS Thanks for your great work! Sem
