I have a couple Orange Pi's, and the HDMI is broken. I noticed that many believe that it is Armbian, but it is not. Orange Pi's probably won't be where we want them until 2025. I found a couple notes from development teams, one below and one from September. Both say the same thing: essentially it's in the works: "The RK3588 SoC family integrates the newer Synopsys DesignWare HDMI 2.1 Quad-Pixel (QP) TX controller IP and a HDMI/eDP TX Combo PHY based on a Samsung IP block. Add just the basic support for now, i.e. RGB output up to 4K@60Hz, without audio, CEC or any of the HDMI 2.1 specific features." https://patchwork.kernel.org/project/linux-rockchip/pa…

  2. Hello, I own a RockPro64 and I'm using Armbian Legacy Buster 4.4.213-rockchip64. Everything mostly works, although I've had a pretty annoying issue. Reboot just doesn't work. Every time I do a 'sudo reboot' (or any equivalent for that matter, as for example 'sudo shutdown -r now') it doesn't work. Although it apparently reboots, the TV monitor to which my box it's connected via HDMI lose connection and all, nothing actually happens. Both the red and the white leds of the RP64 turn on and keep on all time (instead of just one of them blinking, as expected) and then it will work only if I poweroff and on again, either by unplugging the power cable or…

  3. I have 85 tinkers running with armbian 5.41 xenial next 4.14.23. Normally I run a script that apt upgrades them all but I run a small batch of them first as a test. Today I ran apt update/upgrade on three of them and they are all bricked. No output to the screen. Can't ping them. Any ideas?

  4. I have set up Armbian 24.8.4 bookworm on my 32GB Orange Pi 5 Plus. Most everything works as expected out of the box. The second HDMI port doesn't detect the second screen, and the screen displays No Signal. I have tested the cables and monitors to ensure they are functioning. I have also ensured I wasn't plugged into the HDMI input by accident. I was about ready to proclaim it a hardware issue, but on booting the "Official" Orange PiOS Arch image, the dual monitor support worked as expected. I checked the dtb file included with the Arch image, and it has many references to HDMI0 and HDMI1 devices, while the one used by default with the Armbian ima…

Hi Igor and all, back after a long absence, Have been using Cubie2s since 2015, rock solid with Armbian. I've now moved as cubies don't support gigabit, and the Pi gigabit interface is limited. So I now have a tinkerboard and popped Stretch mainline kernel 4.14.y onto an SDcard. Linux tinkerboard 4.14.67-rockchip #88 SMP PREEMPT Wed Aug 29 15:07:29 CEST 2018 armv7l GNU/Linux I want to compile the faithfull usb-redirector against the headers, but sudo apt-get install linux-headers-`uname -r` results in not found. Bit of noob question, but I've trawlled around, but can't seem to find source/headers or should I move to a diffrent version? Mark

  6. Hello, After 5 years of loyal service, my Helios64 SBC just died on me last night. Would a Radxa Rock5 ITX+ and a M.2 to Hexa SATA Adapter could be a good drop in replacement to reuse the case? Both are Mini-ITX so it would fit. I know I would lose the front panel lights and power/reset button, and I would need to cut the back panel to fit the I/O shield but these are minor problems. What I am more concerned with, is if it is at all possible to power the 5 HDD from the radxa board (as the Helios 64 board didi). Helios engineers had made it possible to do it with minimum power, mainly by starting up the drives sequentially. …

  7. Before writing I searched the forum a bit but couldn't find any recent posts about it. I have an OPI5 board and on NVME I would like to install armbian. I downloaded the image to micro sd and it boots fine. At this point I don't know what to do because I had to waste a lot of time on it some time ago and I don't remember the steps. With the armbian-config utility is it possible to clone the armbian release I am using on the micro sd? I remember that this wasn't possible some time ago. I would like to know specifically the steps to take and whether it is advisable to delete any old partitions on nvme. Thank you

  9. Hi there, I have set up a tinkerboard S and I'm loving armbian so far. I only just encountered a weird problem. When i try to code in spyder3 there seems to be a messup in the keys i press and the key that is produced in spyder3. The funny thing is that this only occurs in spyder. When I type in terminal or gummi everything works fine. I am connecting to my TB using vnc using X. I've googled a bit around and found this could be a error of the XKEYBOARD as written here (I am however still not sure): https://github.com/spyder-ide/spyder/issues/3713 However I cant apply the proposed solution. I've found i need to go to /etc/X11/xorg.c…

  10. I run a audio loop code on a Raspberry pi 4/5 and Orange Pi 5. The latency of audio loop is 0.2 seconds on Raspberry pi but on orange pi it takes 1.2 seconds. For orange pi, i am facing this problem with different Operating systems as well apart from armbian. I've used Ubuntu, Orange Pi OS, Armbian. All have got this problem. The code I have attached. Since the issue is faced in multiple Operating System I strongly feel this has to do with the driver level softwares or directly related optimization from Rockchip. Can anyone guide what I could do audio-loop.cpp

  12. Hello, I installed Armbian Hirsute xfce bleeding edge kernel 5.13.y on my RockPro64 4GB and updated it right after that. After restarting after the update, ethernet doesn't work anymore. (Wifi connecting icon is shown and no connection to ethernet) dsmesg says that the link is up. armbianmonitor: https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/9Yz8SJVrzS/ apt/history.log: https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/GQbfZp3Xch/ For apt history only the last two operations seem relevant. I assume the previous ones are made by whoever/whatever created the image.

  13. Is there an Armbian image with home assistant that isn't minimalistic? or Is there a way to install HA on a more robust desktop armbian 25.2 image for the Orange Pi 5 Plus? I feel the orange pi 5 is robust enough to handle HA under a desktop Armbian environment than other SBCs.

  23. Hi everyone, New to the forum, so apologies if the questions are answered elsewhere, but please redirect me if they are. I have identified a bug in the `armbian-install` script in the current Bullseye Edge image (Dec 19,2022) that prevents it showing NVMe targets in the installation prompt if they don't have a valid filesystem on them. This appears to have been fixed on the 19th of December in this commit (the grep for filesystems was removed from the lsblk command that returns valid partitions). https://github.com/armbian/build/commit/893ed2347d97af574becf69dee1166a1bf933081#diff-8752ea87e0340f217187b70f7b08735d872a14c0467d02a6285222e594db3299L63…

  26. I have installed Armbian on my Rock Pi S, done some setup, and then taken an image of the disk to be duplicated to other devices. The problem is that each of these devices get the same permanent MAC address on the ethernet port as the first device. I don't know how Armbian gets the MAC address from the interface but it doesn't seem to depend on unique hardware, or if it does then the hardware ID isn't actually unique between boards. This leads to problems because my device is meant to be used several in the same network, causing collisions in DHCP assignment etc. I have tried multiple workarounds and none have worked well. I tried spoofing the MAC addr …

  28. Hello! Is there a possibility to change the default LED0 behaviour of the RTL8201F PHY? Here is the Datasheet: https://file.elecfans.com/web1/M00/99/0F/o4YBAF0VytaAI7ezABH66fmIRIg854.pdf?filename=RTL8201F-VB-CG.pdf And this is the relevant register: It states, that "11" is the default - but I think it is changed to "00" during driver initialization - is that possible? I would like to change it to "01" - is this somehow possible without recompiling the driver? Thank you! Best regards, Manuel

I have a working system booting on NVME (when no SD card inserted), with two partitions nvme0p1 (256Mb) and nvmeop2 (40Gb) I would like to clone my working system on a SD card. How shall I proceed? I am not asking details instruction, only the rough path I should follow (e.g. dd partitions, tune2fs ......). PS: I thought it would be easy, but whatever I do, the system keep taking /boot on the nvmeop1, so I really struggle to boot on the /boot of the SD card

  37. We are looking at replacing the raspi3b+ with the tinkerboardS (rockchip 3288) in an embedded system, running armbian (bionic-4.19). Initial tests show that OS stability, board performance and form factor make the tinkerboardS a good substitute for the raspi. However, one issue we have run into is a conflict with pin 32 of the GPIO which is used by the hostboard for managing output devices. We have tried to turn off serial2 by removing the UART2 overlay and adding 'console=display' in /boot/armbianEnv.txt and also disabling & masking serial-getty@ttyS2.service but that hasn't stopped pin 32 from being chatty when connected to the hostboard. 44. Hi. I have Rock Pi S0 boards that I install in an enclosure. It works, but it is conceivable that some critical bug or change with the image is discovered in the future so that customers later need to flash a new image to the emmc. 53. I am trying to compile a new kernel in order to support some satellite receiver tuner (from TBS). I did that successfully (In February 2023) on Orange Pi 5 with Linux kernel 5.10.110, but I am struggling doing it with Orange PI 5 Plus with Linux 5.10.160 (jammy). These are my issues: - I do not manage to set separately those CONFIG_VIDEOBUF2_* through the menu config. - Thus I tried to set the whole "multimedia support" as a module and go…

  57. Hello, I'm planning on running a k3s cluster with Rook storage with a few of the Orange Pi 5 that I got. A prerequisite for rook however is RBD module. I've been able to recompile the kernel including RBD support, however I've been unable to get the device to boot from the new kernel. Rebooting after kernel has been built and installed still reports Linux 5.10.110-rockchip-rk3588. Any help would be appreciated. I've since wiped the boxes clean and have a fresh install booting from SSD with the OS installed on the NVMe attached so I will be able to provide any information required. Thanks!

I had a drive setup using: pvcreate /dev/nvme0n1 vgcreate rockpro64 /dev/nvme0n1 lvcreate -n <name> -L 500g rockpro64 then i formatted like this: mkfs.ext4 /dev/rockpro64/name but then i accidentally unplugged the power source while i got my system up and running it wasn't cleanly unmounte…

  59. How to reset the armbian system and restore the initial configuration operation

  60. I am trying to build the kernel with the standards scripts, but directly on my orange pi 5. The build is stopping at some point because of a Warning issued by the compiler (this is the default behaviour for the compiler who does not tolerate any warning by default). (Some functions in the C code are depreciated, thus a warning is issue) How can I set the CFLAGS so that the kernel build takes it into account during compilation? Thanks.

  61. Hi, I have orange pi 5. I searched all over internet for information how to set on startup/power on GPIO pins behavior, but i cannot find anything. Most of GPIO pins are set to IN mode 1. Sadly I need them to output mode 1. I am scared something could burn this way since i set them to though wiringPI after kernel boot sequence is complete. Can some one give information how I can set them up at earlier point when I power on the board? I found that DTB/DTS file could do it. But there is no clear information / pin addresses I should set. Thanks in advance! Regards!

Apologies if there are instructions elsewhere that cover this. Thanks in advance for any guidance.

Unfortunately I've not been able to access it, since the system does not recognize it. I tried with different configurations using the /boot/armbianEnv.txt file with no results, however the i2c ports are enabled. To rule out functionality problems in the sensor, I connected it to other boards (e.g. nanopi Neo3 using Armbian) without problems. Do you have any idea what could be the cause of this problem? Thanks!
