Hi Armbian Users I'm french, so excuse my poor english I'm having hard times installing Ubiquiti Unifi Controller on Armbian (running on a XU4) Armbian version : Armbian_5.59_Odroidxu4_Debian_stretch_next_4.14.66 I followed different tutorial, but no luck with those no brain tutorial. I did add the mongodb repository for 3.6 version, which support arm64 architecture. Apt never gave me the ability to install the mongodb-org package an…

  3. Hi there, not sure where to post this, intended for @rpardini I have an x13s running here with dual boot to win11 and ubuntu 23.04 lunar, the armbian work was a great help to get it to work. Not quite finished setting it up tbqh. However, if you're on a fast boot device like the local NVMe drive, the remoteproc firmwares qcadsp8280.mbn and qccdsp8280.mbn fail to load and won't get retried later, the GPU firmwares a660_sqe.fw and a660_gmu.bin may fail but get loaded later. That is a little unfortunate, since PMIC GLINK (among other things) is running on one of these. My Windows Dev Kit 2023 (same SoC) doesn't balk this way, both boot the same Ubuntu…

  11. Hello ! I'm trying to build my custom Armbian image for a Raspberry Pi. 19. I was curious if anyone has experience with using Armbian on older x86 server hardware systems. This would be for a home-lab sort of setup. In the past, I fought with Ubuntu Server and found that I missed the Armbian-Config utility that made setup a breeze. (Specifically looking at WIWYNN LYRA-M SV315, INTEL XEON E5-2670 V2 SR1A7 2.5GHZ 10-C0RE) I am planning to run a MariaDB instance for a scientific database. My past test use was using Armbian on an 8 GB Raspberry pi 4B, with MariaDB, and it worked very well, until the SD card failed. Any thoughts or points of caution before attempting this would be appreciated. I have generally had a very p…

  21. Hello all, according to the hints on the ARMBIAN homepage the image "Armbian_23.02.0-trunk_Rpi4b_lunar_edge_6.1.5.img" should work with the Raspi 3. Unfortunately it does not work properly, the system does not want to boot with it.... The name of the image says that it was generated for Raspi4, but -as I said- the homepage says that this image would also be compatible for the other Raspberry systems mentioned there. 24. I learned that the cpu on my hc2 has 4 'slow' cores and 4 fast ones. Now I would want certain apps to always use the fast cores. I found `taskset` to do so. My idea was to just add `taskset --cpu-list 4,5,6,7` in the .service file of the desired app in the execstart line in front. To have it always use the big cores. Would this work? Also I have apps 'calling' unrar to extract files. I don't know how I would do it in this case. I think it'll be a bit complicated to tell the apps to call unrar with `taskset --cpu-list 4,5,6,7`. Is there a way to have unrar always run on the big cores?

  26. Hi, I'm using Odroid HC1 for quite a long time and I've observed much degradation on SMB/NFS speed when making upgrades to the board. I'm not sure why? Maybe I'll find some idea what it can be. Previously the board was working with speeds >100MB/s when reading from it on Windows (smb) or Linux (nfs) now max speeds on the same configuration are ~40 MB/s. That's way too slow. I don't see any process to hang on pc, while copying using smb the samba process is using not so big amount of CPU on big cores from what I see. I've grabbed armbianmonitor output so you can check it also: http://ix.io/1zrL Currently I'm working on: 4.14.87-odroidxu4 …

  27. Hello, my OMV installation on Odroid HC1 is currently at kernel 4.14.111 which is a bit outdated now. Looking at the build config [1], the kernel is fetched from hardkernel [2] which is currently at 4.14.127. What needs to happen to bring the kernel up-to-date? I have been doing packaging for Fedora for quite a while now so I am happy to help if needed. 28. Hi! my Odroid HC2 is running for more than three years now (24/7), hosting a nextcloud instance. Other than two preemptive SD-card swaps no maintenance necessary, armbian performs really great 🙂 Since I was thinking about upgrading to a better machine (Nano Pi M4, if they ever sell them again...) I wanted to install sysbench to compare some CPU specs. But sudo apt-get install sysbench gives: unable to locate package sysbench I'm running a recently upgraded armbian, v22.02.1 with Kernel 5.4.181. Any ideas? I'm pretty sure I had sysbench on an earlier version of armbian. EDIT: fixed typos

  29. Hi, gotta ask a question Recently I just reinstalled all my XU4 based server from scratch. Brand new armbian Bullseye with OMV on top installed via armbian-config Then I noticed as seem bellow that half the cores (the low power ones) are idling, even when the system is fully under load on the high power cores The cores are enabled in the /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpuX/online files So the question is "what's wrong"? I don't have prints but I remember all the cores working before Thanks in advance Will

  31. Am getting very interested in Armbian for a classroom server project and am experiencing an odd problem. Certain web pages in Firefox will cause the hd to 'click' loudly, then the desktop icon disappears and the whole system locks up for about 20 seconds until the desktop icon reappears then everything seems fine again. I have not been able to pin down what is happening because it's inconsistent which pages cause the problem. (viewing the preview for this post caused it to happen.) Might go an hour, might happen several times in a few minutes. Right now my plan is to start from scratch a new Armbian install because I did to some messing…

  35. After a major failure of my file server I bought a pair of seagate desktop USB3 drives to use for temporary storage while I sort out the mess. I plugged them into an XU4 and started transferring several 100GBs of data only to have it lock up solid. dmesg indicates a number of uas restarts, the last of which doesn't complete. I had the same thing on another SBC (one of the orange PIs I think, although I can't remember which model) and I also found references to the same problem on x86 boxes, so I think the problem is fairly generic. Apparently it can be worked around by adding a conf file to to /etc/modprobe.d, but I haven't got that to work yet (time has been …

  36. Hi All, I'm a happy user of a Helios4, and have been for several years now. However, at some point it will be challenging to continue to support it, and I'd rather be proactive about maintaining access to my data than scrambling around. 38. So I have this issue with the XU4, where at times when I start device from the main power button, it doesn't seem to properly connect to the LAN, in such a way that I cannot ssh to it, nor ping it. 39. This is something I've just realized has been popping up for me for as long as I've been using armbian the past year or so with my ODROID. After a clean setup, I use armbian-config to edit the network settings (ethernet connection) to a static IP address, and everything works fine. I reboot the changes and go on my way. The problem comes after I reboot days/weeks later for kernel updates or if I lost power. The board turns on fine but refuses to show up on my network and therefore cannot SSH to the system. Looking through the SD card and checking the files shows that /etc/network/interfaces is devoid of any static IP changes made through the config, although i…

Repowering the unit (physically disconnecting the power because there is no way to shut it down gracefully) brings it back to life and it runs again for a week or so before the same thing happens again. I'm not quite sure where to start troubleshooting this. Any ideas ?

  48. Hi, A strange error appeared with the last kernel update on an Odroid HC2. From the home in the terminal displays this error under RX totay: RX today: Error: Interface "--oneline" not found in database. The board is hosting an OMV instance under Armbian Bullseye Linux version 5.4.212-odroidxu4. Does anyone have any idea about the origin of this message which does not seem to disrupt the NAS operation. thanks konki

  52. Hi, the title says it all: this is the message I get when booting. I rebooted several times, to no avail: same message... Installing e2fsprogs then rebooting fixes the issue. It's on trixie Minimal / IOT image. Best regards. [Edit] typo: lof->log

A clean, small, tuned up system with the possibility to switch back to sysvinit from system(d). What I would run on it is not a desktop environment but exactly Kodi. The XU4 comes with Ubuntu 16 LTS preloaded to sdcard and I can say this is the OS which maxes out the potential of this hardware. I thought it might be the power supply, but I can't find where I could buy it. Does anyone know where to find it? Thank you very much.

  98. Ok, so after PHP issues I started off with a fresh armbian install and via armbian-config I installed OMV 4. Install finished without any problems but if I copy stuff via smb the tranfer speed is really bad and I don't know why. On an old install with OMV 3 I used to get nice 100 mb/s. The cpu temp also used to be at like 80 °C during copy, now it looks like this: Following extra options are set in smb.conf: min receivefile size = 16384 write cache size = 524288 getwd cache = yes socket options = TCP_NODELAY IPTOS_LOWDELAY I also checked smbd app, it's running on a big core.... I get the feeling that not all the avaiable resources of my HC2 ar…

Now I have bought an Odroid XU4 and want to build a Home-Server / NAS with it, wondering which distro to choose. Of course without the heavy-load desktop, but (xenial) next oder default? Thank you. Regards AXEL

  100. Odroid XU4 · Started by silverplate,

after installing armbian on my odroid-xu4-box and about one hour later the screen was going black. But I was not able to get back the running X-Session. So I rebootet as first and as next step I disabled the xdg-screensaver to off, but with no succes - the screen goes black again and neither a moving of the mouse nor a touch the keyboard brings the screan back to activity. So - now what can I do here ? The same behavior appears, if I switch off the screen, if I wanna make a pause for some times. After controlling the xdg-screensaver status I get "off". So it seems, that no screensver is active and running. Which process produces this behavior ? Hope anyone …
