When I boot the PI400 the monitors LED changes from green (power on) to yellow (standbye) for half an hour, when I start the PI400. It looks like there is a problem with this old monitor which supports 1280x1024 only. Don't know, if the boot routine checks the monitor, but the green LED can stay for 2sec, sometimes for 30sec. BTW Xubuntu 22.04 with an SSD works fine with the same hardware.

  12. Using release Armbian_23.5.1_Rpi4b_jammy_current_6.1.29 on a Raspberry Pi 4b. From a clean install: $ sudo apt update $ sudo apt upgrade $ sudo apt install podman $ podman run --rm docker.io/library/hello-world Error: command required for rootless mode with multiple IDs: exec: "newuidmap": executable file not found in $PATH Podman runs fine with sudo, so for now I can use that as a workaround, but it would be nice to run rootless containers for dev environments. There is a related issue on the official podman repo, but the solutions there don't seem to apply to armbian. https://github.com/containers/podman/issues/9271

So I've put a line with extraargs=, but it is ignored. Then I've tried /etc/default/grub adding the parameters to GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT= and then doing update-grub, but it is also ignored. Where should I put the kernel parameters?

  23. Raspberry Pi · Started by 0jay,

I'm having trouble with the raspberry omv builds. The latest build I can get working is 24.11.1 which doesn't survive an upgrades (I've tried holding the various packages that seem to cause issues which used to work but doesn't work anymore. The suggested trouble shooting on the download page doesn't work either. Currently the 25.11.1 build is stuck in a bootloop, the only irregularity I can identify is failure to load console-setup.service message. I had a working system that lost my soundcard/DAC-hat after trying to address update error messages which's what started this whole refresh process

  24. So my sshd service won't start after a system upgrade. I have no uart access, so currently no console access. I do have access to the root drive on a usb device. I suspect systemd is having a problem starting sshd from the ssh.service unit file. But I'm not sure how to fix it. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Here are the contents of my ssh.service file. I checked that /etc/ssh/sshd_not_to_be_run doesn't exist. I'm a little confused about the runtime directory, so I made a folder in the root directory called sshd with 0755 permissions, but that doesn't seem right. Strangely I couldn't find anything in the syslog file that mentioned s…

  29. Hey guys! I am running Armbian 22.05.3 on my Odroid XU4. Very happy with it. I just installed linux-image-edge-odroidxu4 (kernel 5.17) and rebooted. Everything hunky dory. However, once I'm on 5.17 I am unable to reboot by using the 'reboot' or 'shutdown -r now' commands, which worked on the default 5.4 kernel. Is this a known issue? Any hints on how to debug or any known workarounds? Thank you

I followed the topic of creating, I believe it was a raid 10 with four disks, and I think that's where I want to end up, but I only have two drives right now. Can I go ahead and start with just the two, and easily and the other two at a later date? Or would I be better off waiting until I can get the other two drives?

  48. Upon reading the content of RPi5 about 6.12 from this and this , I was under the impression that it's okay to upgrade the Armbian 24.11 based NextCloudPi to a 6.12 kernel. Well, I was wrong and the RPi5 current stuck in the RPi Logo on a black page. Net address seems to be 0.0.0.0. I could really use some advice on how to restore this, perhaps some `chroot` method from another Linux machine to get the right kernel package and intramfs. Here are the steps that got me to the current situation. Maybe a hint on how to restore? 1. Mark `raspi-firmware`, like what was recommended in 1st post. sudo apt-mark hold raspi-firmware [sudo] passwo…

  49. Hi! short question: Best way to create a bootable clone of sd card? I did some reading and found ">>create image on windows >> shrink image via gparted" doesn't work for me since I dont have a second computer running linux (will the linux subsystem on windows 10 help?). In the past, I used the rpi-clone on a raspberry, but reading in this forum has taught me that hotcloning an armbian sd card via script is not necessarily safe. Computers availabel to me are: 1) odroid hc2 running armbian 2) acer laptop running windows 10

  50. Hi Guys, I tested both the odroid official and armbian images for the XU4. Both run well, but I prefer the armbian image. I have attached my 800x480 hdmi display, it works, but there's a purple line at the left side of the display. ( I think it's one pixel wide) This is not the case with the odroid official image, so I guess it's a configuration issue. I took a look at the boot. ini file, but I don't see anything that rings a bell. Can somebody point me to the right direction?

  52. Hi, I want to try out my Odroid HC2 as an openvpn client. I don't expect great performance but I want to make sure I set it up correctly. This is why I want to ask if anyone can give any recommendations or tweaks for using it as an openvpn client. Idk much about openvpn, I know it uses openssl for de and encryption. Is there a way to use hardware de and encryption so I can speed things up and have a better download speed via openvpn? Or is hw de/encryption maybe already used by default if I just install openvpn package? Any recommendations on how to correctly set this up are appreciated.

  58. I just got a new XU4 and I tried to run both the official ubuntu 18.04 image with linux 4.14 and the armbian stretch 4.14 image (both minimal). I can hear a constant electrical squeaky noise (similar to noise from certain power supplies, usb chargers, etc) coming from the XU4 when running Armbian. The same noise is not present in the Ubuntu image. This occurs immediately after first boot (no additional configuration) and is constantly there. This is especially noticeable when the fan is off. Has anyone experienced this before?

  68. I’m relatively new to Armbian, have been running it with XU4 for couple of months. Otherwise working very well, but there’s occational (once a month) full system hang/crash or something. This is a remote server with constant load (video surveillance) and when it happens, all connectivity is of course lost and I think it can be only resolved locally with full power cycle. I’ve not yet tried to attach HDMI monitor when it’s in the crashed state, but will do it next time. Although not very optimistic if that works at all. There are nothing obvious in the logs, or it might be that I don’t know where to look. Are there any general advice what to do, how to figure this out?…

This might be a kernel issue since on Debian Buster with kernel 5.4 or kernel 4.14 that never happened.

I’ve googled for a procedure and searched this forum as well but I’m not finding a procedure. While searching this forum, I saw lots of topics where people had problems after upgrading to bullseye. Should I even do the upgrade? I don’t have much invested in the jammy install so far. Aside from running through armbian-config and getting all the settings the way I want them, the only things I’ve done are 1) installed Docker and 2) installed docker-compose. The latter was …

  96. Greetings, I installed Armbian Noble with gnome desktop, specifically "Armbian_26.2.1_Rpi4b_noble_current_6.18.9_gnome_desktop.img" on a Raspberry Pi 5. Updated system and installed chrome since I need to play some media from inside chromium browser. However, I checked to see that hardware accelerated video decode is not actually supported within Armbian currently. Previously I had official Raspberry Pi OS installed when I first had a look at the device and there it was enabled. It's kind of a minor thing but I've used different hardware with Armbian before and it would make things a lot easier for me if I can keep using Armbian on Raspberry Pi 5 as well.…

  97. I'm trying to get to the point where I can read time from the DS3231 RTC module on a Raspberry Pi 4. From what I understand, I first need to activate i2c bus, then load the kernel module that would work with the clock itself. So far i2cdetect tool fails to detect anything. There are no i2c-* devices in /dev either. I've read about "Hardware" option in armbian-config, but it's not showing up in the menu. I've also read that it's a matter of adding a device tree overlay. Does that apply for RPI4? The folder structure in /boot seems different from what documentation and several threads describe for other boards. What would be the steps for acti…

  98. Hi, I am opening a new topic to make things clearer. This is a follow-up post from here: After managing to install it, I moved my Helios 4 and switched it on again. It started to work but then it shut down. I cannot switch it on anymore. I don't know if it comes from the Power supply or the motherboard. What are the solutions? Thank you for your help.

Hi, First using my Helios4 after I left her in my storage room. I have installed and running open media vault. I sometimes wanted to shutdown the NAS. I shutdown using sudo poweroff. Is the a soft method to turn it on again? I currently turn it on using the power switch. Regards,
