  2. Hello , looking to upgrade from SBC Rock64 to RockPro64< however, on the homepage it is mentioned, that https://wiki.pine64.org/wiki/ROCKPro64_Software_Releases Since my Rock64 is running aready Linux kernel 4.4 and i am looking to upgrade, both from Rock64 and from SDcard to eMMC, my question, if this limitation still applies to RockPro64 with newer editions of Armbian, also since there is no mention of it on the official Armbian Page for RockPro64 https://www.armbian.com/rockpro64/ Thank you very much

  3. I upgraded my 5.10 install to 6.1 kernel got everything working including wifi using armbian-config - change kernel but after I noticed that video acceleration was broken with vlc I decided to rollback. The initial rollback somehow failed, after some tweaking, I've been able to boot the system again and run kernel 5.1 but now I don't have my ap6275 working anymore and the video acceleration modules from 5.x seem to be gone. I have the overlay for the ap6275 but it is not loading any module. What am I missing?

  4. I played a bit with the SenseHAT from the RPi guys. Doesn't work fully but I get the first things working. What does run: Joystick 8x8 led matrix (partly, seems that there are some parts of the framebuffer not fully working) What doesn't run: all the sensors attached on the board What's missing: load it devicetree overlay (at the moment it's coded into the main dts) how-to what's needed to get it working on your tinker too I'll keep you updated.

  6. Hi all, looking for a bit of advise. I had an idea recently in that I have a problem of syncing a 20Tb USB 3.0 RAID0 drive with a 20Tb NAS. I have two fully duplicated RAID0 drives with no protection, so whenever I upgrade the capacity of a drive, I do a full sync. I do this maybe once a year. Whenever I have to do a full sync however it usually ties my MacBook up for a few weeks to transfer that much data over, so I had the idea recently of having a maker board do it since Linux/Armbian supports HFS+, I can just do an rsync between the two. I opted to purchase a Tinkerboard for the GigE Ethernet (I'll live with the USB 2.0), installed, up and running all…

  8. Hi guys, sorry, on with my second issue with the Asus Tinker Board and installing a DS3231 Real Time Clock module. I've tried following any instructions on the internet for Tinker Board use and a couple for the Raspberry Pi, from recompiling the kernel through to trying to edit boot files. I just cannot get this thing working so I've now got myself a fresh install of Armbian Stretch 4.14 and ready to go again. Can anybody provide a step-by-step installation for the Tinker Board and this module (I've been told the DS1307 is the same kernel module but for the life of me I cannot find any modules/.ko's available in Armbian)? 9. I was able to install an ebay 18650 UPS on my ROC-RK3328-CC, and found out in the instructions that it also has an RTC Module. I would like to utilize that feature, if possible, but I am not entirely sure how to go about it. I have used the armbian-config to enable i2c7, and... that's pretty much as far as I got. Viewing the instructions under "How to setup and check the RTC module:" https://wiki.52pi.com/index.php/UPS_(With_RTC_%26_Coulometer)_For_Raspberry_Pi_SKU:_EP-0118 The instructions call to use modprobe i2c-bcm2835 however, it doesn't appear that my copy of Armbian 20.08.7 Buster has this driver. Is there another way to setup an…

Hello Kind Forum Experts, I ask for you help with following issue: Device: Nanopi-r4s 4GB Background: I'm happy with my device running from SD - but wanted to preemptively upgrade to eMMC based setup for improved reliability. I bought "original" FriendlyELEC SD-to-eMMC adapter + 64GB eMMC module. with normal microSD it boots great, with the sd-to-eMMC - nothing multiple attempts, tried both cloning my old SD & writing fresh image but both didn't help. eMMC type is 1.8V\3.3V HS400 speed, i think i need to address that in the .dtb file ? any help would be much appreciated Uri

  17. Hi, trying to get a bit deeper into Armbian, I tried to create my own minimal Trixie-based image for the RockPI-S. I'm using a Ubuntu Noble VM and I managed to run a successfull build following the quick start guide. However, creating an image using ./compile.sh build BOARD=rockpi-s BRANCH=current BUILD_MINIMAL=yes KERNEL_CONFIGURE=no RELEASE=trixie leads to an image with a size around 1.5GB. Compared to the downloadable minimal images, which have 200MB-300MB, this is quite large. Does anyone has any hints on how to proceed in order to self-build images comparable to the ones offered for download? Cheers,

I can type in then press enter, and then it goes to login. This only happens on the Debian 13 (Trixie). I am using the Debian 12 XFCE imange no issue. I am not sure if this is a bug or what, but I loved to use Debian 13, I am trying to setup Docker with the latest OS.

  23. Hey! I recently got a CAN-bus up and running on a Tinkerboard running Armbian, but I've run into another problem here: The CAN-bus buffer fills up. After sending a few messages I get an error saying "No buffer space available". I've noticed that some other people are solving this by increasing the buffer size, but that seems like a weird solution to me. And it wouldn't really help me much. I need to empty this buffer when I read from it, or manually (without restarting the CAN-bus). Any ideas on how to do that? Thanks

  24. Hi, I am running the latest Armbian image with Noble + GNOME for the Rock 5C. 25. Hi I managed to fix an issue with the usb-c port of the orange pi 5 plus. Hi guys, I got a SPIdev overlay to work on the rock S0, figured I'd just share it here for the record, since I could have used this info myself (I spent days trying to figure it out since I had no experience with device trees or whatnot). Basically, download the attached .dts file, then run sudo armbian-add-overlay rk3308-spi2-spidev.dts I also edited /boot/armbianEnv.txt and added this line, but I'm unsure if that's actually necessary? param_spidev_spi_bus=2 This worked on Armbian 24.5.1 Noble, creating /dev/spidev2.0. The operating system is armbian and I could install a real-time kernel on it so I know it shouldn't be real-time issue with kernel. I read an article about it being mainlined in 4.17 (http://bbs.t-firefly.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=2312) but I still see people working through issues on this board. I am mainly interested on ethernet and USB3 support. Not interested in video or sound, although others might. Thought this is the place to ask as there is a lot going on but difficult to scrape all the info on the threads. Thanks!

Hello everyone, I'm a newcomer to ARMBIAN, and I'm eager to transition from my current stock Odroid (20.04) setup (petitboot full nvme SSD) to a more up-to-date distribution, complete with the latest kernel upgrades. I've taken the time to go through the documentation and here's what I've gathered: It appears that native booting from an nvme SSD or USB isn't possible (yet?). Instead, I'll need to use microSD cards or an emmc module for booting while installing the system on an nvme SSD. I also understand that deactivating petitboot is necessary. Now, I have a few questions: Q1: Do I have a correct understanding of these two p…

Hello, running Armbian_22.11.2_Odroidm1_bullseye_edge_6.1.0.img.xz + updates. I saw in other post (/topic/17418-cameras-with-rock-pi-4-c/😞 But I do not see any Hardware menu in System. I had a look to armbian-config and saw that there is a lot of device-specific code and probably odroidm1 is not supported yet. Also I searched for some DTB that may work, but none is shipped with the current kernel: is empty. Should I add explicit support like in this patch: https://github.com/armbian/build/pull/1482/files? Or there are more modern way to add cold-pluggable hardware? Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

  51. I have tried to get the CSI port working on my Radxa Zero 3W with the GEEKOM X1301 HAT, and now I can get the chip to show up in /dev, however there seems to be an issue when I try to access it, as I keep getting ioctl errors. I started by copying over the .dtbo files from the regular radxa official image, and putting them into the overlay-user folder in /boot. Then I enabled the radxa-zero3-tc358743.dtbo overlay, which gets the devices to show up. I am following this guide from GEEKOM https://wiki.geekworm.com/X1300_Software, however, I keep getting ioctl errors when trying to set the EDID file on the Radxa Zero. Hi, I bought a Rock 5C with the official fan/heatsink: https://radxa.com/products/accessories/heatsink-6540b/ After installing the Armbian server image, I ran these two commands: ```bash ls /sys/class/thermal/cooling_device*/type cat /sys/class/thermal/cooling_device*/type ``` and found that there is no `pwm-fan`. Then I installed the official Radxa Debian image and ran these two commands again. `pwm-fan` exists and I can make it starts spinning by running: ```bash echo 255 | sudo tee /sys/devices/platform/pwm-fan/hwmon/hwmon*/pwm1 ``` Is the fan module supported in Armbian? If yes, ho…

  54. I logged an issue a little while ago with Armbian running on the Tinkerboard that the screen when rotated 90 degrees couldn't draw the screen at any speed. I have been playing with a few alternatives incl going back to the original tinkeros. All have issues so I was delighted to see the FOCAL port. I am using the recommended Waveshare 7" touchscreen that you advertise on the home page as tested 3rd party hardware. 55. How do I change the default desktop environment on Debian 12 startup from cinnamon to xfce4? I have installed xfce4 and it's related "goodies", added a .Xclients file containing "startxfc4" in both root and ~/ folder locations. But the unit sometimes boots back into cinnamon. I do not see anything under armbian-config to control the desktop environment or to switch between cli/gui. I recall such options under orangepi-config (at least the cli/gui switching).

I was able to install the latest Armbian/Ubuntu-Resolute 26.8.3 image on my Orange Pi 5 Plus without a lot of fanfare. It took a bit of hunting around to find the correct process to get the image written to an SD card with the new Armbian Imager and then push that image to my emmc storage after it booted, but it was rather painless otherwise. It seems to work without any issues on my 2.5GB/10GB network and is acting as my home Jellyfin media server for now. It was doing that before running Ubuntu 24.04 with a an older 6.1 kernel from the vendor. Not sure if the rolling release includes the UART dtb yet, but when I build my own image (jammy xfce kernel 5.10.110) I don't have the UART dtbs in /boot/dtb/rockchip/overlay/ . As a result, I couldn't add uart0-m2 to /boot/armbianEnv.txt and get /dev/ttyS0 when I was following the official user manual to enable UART. After some researching I managed to solve this by copying the dtb file from orange pi's official ubuntu image to /boot/overlay-user and enable UART with user_overlays=rk3588-uart0-m2 in armbianEnv.txt . Rebooted and it works. However, I suppose it would be better to include the dts files in kernel patches? I'm posting this because I don't know what…

Alright, the biggest issue with the ASUS Tinkerboard being "resolved", I'm starting to take care of the VPU driver, in order to use it with mainline kernels. The hardware video encoding/decoding facilities are the real meat of the RK3288, and recent Rockchip boards. The VPU driver aims to use these facilities in order to provide the smooth video playback experience that every Netflix/Hulu addict expects when buying such boards. Which mean, once this part dealt with, you might be able to enjoy your Multimedia oriented distributions/softwares on your Rockchip boards (MiQi, Tinkerboard and maybe Pine64 too !) If I run Debian I can use the gpio just fine, but I need some kernel modules that doesn't ship with Debian. That's why I've compiled my own armbian kernel. Anyways, any idea on how to fix this? Any special module I should add when compiling the kernel? Thanks Marius
