Hi every body, I am a new user of Armbian and Linux based system. I wanted to use the Tinkerboard because of his 4K video processor (I am programming a special video application) I install Armbian following the steps of the site. Everything went good, the system is runing. I made all update an so on. Then I wanted to test a video (MP4 1920x1080) capability with the build in player, and the video is playing very slow. I try too a Youtube video, same thing... Meanwhile I installed a TinkerIOS linaro and TinkerOS android, video are playing at the good speed... So my questions are: 1) do we need a special video driver on Armbian for the ti…

Hi, I've trouble getting 3840x2160 resolution to work. When I try to switch to that resolution the monitor says resolution is 3848x2160 and display is all garbled. 2560x1440 works fine. Also, If I try to login to Gnome (Wayland) I get blank screen and I'm back at the login screen. X11 lets me login to the system. uname -a: Linux lindon 5.10.110-rockchip-rk3588 #trunk.0184 SMP Fri Jan 20 18:24:04 UTC 2023 aarch64 aarch64 aarch64 GNU/Linux I've fetched the latest updates (apt update && apt upgrade) and I've just ran firmware update using armbian-config. Edit: display is connected via usb-c - - > displayport cable.

Hi everyone, I’m using an ASUS Tinker Board (RK3288, 2 GB, released in 2017). Since this board is quite old and we are now in 2025 I want to run the latest stable Armbian and develop a Python application using I²C, UART, PWM, and GPIO pins. Which Armbian image and kernel branch (current or edge) is the most stable for this board? Are there any specific steps or adjustments needed due to its older hardware? Thanks!

I have a TinkerBoard S. In Bionic Desktop (kernel 4.4), the wireless icon menu lists two devices: wlan0 (which is the expected interface) and p2p0: I don't know this one, but it is always chosen for auto-connecting to the local wireless lan, receiving a random IP and not the one I configured on the router. I can then manually connect to the network with the wlan0 interface the IP is correct. How do I disable / remove / anyway stop that p2p0 interface to "steal" the network connection?

I got my Orange Pi 5 board to boot v6.1.20 I took all the patches from here: https://gitlab.manjaro.org/manjaro-arm/packages/core/linux-rk3588/-/tree/main/ and built from Armbian's latest trunk source. These patch(es) will need to be modified to support v6.2 & v6.3. > uname -a > Linux orangepi5 6.1.20-rockchip-rk3588 #trunk SMP Tue Apr 25 11:47:11 UTC 2023 aarch64 aarch64 aarch64 GNU/Linux

Tinkerboard (old one, not S) to be used as x2go thin client. Installed latest image (5.70_Tinkerboard_Ubuntu_bionic_next_4.19.14_desktop), applied all updates. Working fine (thanks to everybody who contributed). Issue remaining: My Tinkerboard refuses to use the monitor's native display size of 1920x1200, tried several monitors and cables (HDMI to DVI adapter cables, in case this is relevant). Without any modifications, Armbian desktop comes up with 1280x960. I used xrandr to set 1920x1080 (works), but 1920x1200 leads to "xrandr: Configure crtc 0 failed". Any chance to resolve this?

I have been trying for days now to update my device and all goes well until i get to 'beta.armbian.com:80 (130.185.239.78)' and then it will not update and stays at 0%. i have tried on different! installations and on different devices even a new installation but the same problem occurs. It used to work fine until a couple of days ago! I have even tried turning off all security on my router but no change. Is there a reason for this , if so is there anything i can do to correct it?

Hello! I'm trying to look around in the Armbian build/config scripts to see how I can enable a mainline v6.15-rc3 kernel to be built. I did try to make a build/userpatches/lib.config file with the contents, KERNELBRANCH="tag:v6.15-rc3" But that's not working. Would anyone be able to tell me the file I need to edit for an OrangePi 5? Update: I actually seem to have it try by editing config/sources/families/rockchip-rk3588.conf changing the version tag. But I get a bunch of red errors complaining about SHA1. hmm...an 'rc3' is probably not to be found in a tree with 'stable' in it. Cheers! Fred

I've ran into two issues. The first my board won't boot off the Armbian Debian vendor image. Second it boots off the mainline Debian image, but when I try installing the boot onto the MTD via option 7 in Armbian-install it completes, but I get a solid blue LED and a UART output that hangs on BL31: Preparing for EL3 exit to normal world -> Entry point address = 0x200000 -> SPSR = 0x3c9 then it hangs. Before this I tried manually erasing the SPI and loader and reinstalling them with rkdeveloptool, but this didn't help. I would provide the UART logs, but the server is failing at uploading images. I'm looking to boot off the nvme, but I'm not sure how to resolve this.

I had this plan on utilizing the Radxa Rock 5 ITX+ as a Moonlight client device to stream games from my desktop computer to my living room TV, and using my 8BitDo Ultimate controller to play. On paper, the board has all the bells and whistles needed to do it, but I am having trouble getting hardware decoding of H264 and/or HEVC to work as expected. From what I gather, I need mesa-vpu support, but the documentation I find is very scattered, and repositories that once held the needed resources are no longer available. I am currently running Armbian_25.DBhsHKsx.2.2_Rock-5-itx_bookworm_vendor_6.1.99_cinnamon-backported-mesa_desktop.img (build date 21st of February, 2025), dow…

Hey guys, we are facing an issue we can not resolve ourselves so we are looking for some help on here... Our Rock Pi E does not restart successfully occasionally. Running the Rock Pi E with latest official Armbian with a USB soundcard attached. We are capturing audio and distribute the captured audio via "(c)VLC" via network. Since a few months we are facing reboot issues which are persistent but not easily reproducible. Whenever we reboot manually, everything works fine. When rebooting via cron it does often not reboot and get into a freeze state which makes it impossible to connect via SSH nor serial-adapter. We already tried switching the power so…

Hi I was wondering of status of vanilla kernel and linux for ROC-RK3328-CC. I read an article about it being mainlined in 4.17 (http://bbs.t-firefly.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=2312) but I still see people working through issues on this board. I am mainly interested on ethernet and USB3 support. Not interested in video or sound, although others might. Thought this is the place to ask as there is a lot going on but difficult to scrape all the info on the threads. Thanks!

So I have downloaded several versions of Armbian for Tinkerboard using BullsEye and Yammy. Not one creates a working Access Point. The Bullseye version ends with a message that the hotspot has been activated but nothing appears. The yammy version fails with a message there is no usable driver for hostapd. It appears there are a lot of issues with this function. Why not leave it out or document which boards the feature doesn't support. It would save a lot of time going down rabbit holes.

Hello, I'm using Ubuntu noble lts with kernel 6.1 it appears. I've enabled the orangepi-5-sata overlay. In the photos I have showed how I've connected it. When plugging in the pi with my official 5v 4a usbc charger, the adapter lights up for awhile. I'm not sure if it needs to stay on. I then check fdisk -l and nothing new appears. This drive works if I put the sata to usb connector on it and plug it in - so it's not the drive.

I've been (trying) to move the Tinker and MiQi u-boots to 2020.07, however if I use any of the following: A MiQi, A Tinker S an image for a Tinker S an image for a Tinker on a Tinker S I get stuck in the initramfs busybox with it telling me the filesystem is toast. The only 2020.07 combo I've gotten to boot is the Tinker with the non-eMMC supporting u-boot. As for clues, I haven't found any, the u-boot source code is of course very well organized for debugging purposes . If anyone has an idea about what could be going on with this let me know, I'm shelving the effort to think about other stuff.

It's been a while since I used Armbian. I have tons of ARM SBCs from a few years back because I think they're fascinating but they either wind up being too slow or just not worth using it for whatever since x86 "SBC like" boards exist and are pretty cheap. Fast forward to now and I'm doing some touchscreen development and just because of how I have things setup I needed 3 things, I2C, Interrupt capable GPIO and an actual DisplayPort. That combination of things is surprisingly hard to find. I had a couple of things on hand, (Seeed Odyssey x86, Odroid H2/H3, Rpi's, Nvidia Jetson Nano). I installed Desktop images with Armbian Linux v6.1 Ubuntu 24.04 (Noble) Gnome (Zero 3W) And out of the box after installation I get the message -bash: fork: retry: Resource temporarily unavailable (I have to work through the com port, because because of this error ssh and the desktop cannot work) I checked the performance of the equipment by installing Debian 11 from Radxa, the equipment works correctly (CPU RAM eMMC). Has anyone encountered this problem?

Hello everyone, I flashed the armbian into my tf cand and inserted it into my OrangePi 5 Plus, with my fans inserted to the specific socket on board (2pin, 1.25mm, 5V, PWM3_IR_M1). However, when I booted it, the fans was running constantly instead of controlled by temperature dynamically, like the official OS images that did only the fans running when the temperature over 50 celsius. I wanna know how to configure my OS to enable the temperature-controlled fans like the official images. The offical documents shows: Linux uses the default pwm-fan drivers to control thye fans and the device tree was defined in orange-pi-5.10-rk3588/arch/arm64/boot/dts…

G’day guys, just grabbed a version of Armbian again to play around with on an orange Pi 5 I have had for a while. I have installed the latest stable (25.5.1 Noble Gnome). Everything went smoothly, and I have a 512GB ssd on the board, so I went through the install process using armbian-install. I managed to get the OS installed on the SSD, but when I went to install the bootloader, I got some error messages saying that the SPI image was not chosen. I followed the process for erasing the MTD, but still I got error messages relating to no spi image. I tried to boot from the ssd and just got a black screen. I downloaded Joshua Riek’s Ubuntu 24.04 dist…

Issue: The node /proc/device-tree/compatible contains the board name roc-rk3328-cc, but the dtb in /boot/dtb/rockchip/ is named rk3288-roc-cc. Armbian-config queries this node when running "System settings / Dtc" and then looks for roc-rk3288-cc.dtb, but cant find it.

I have recently purchased an Orange Pi 4 LTS and attempted to run Armbian 23.02 Cinnamon version on my board. However, I could only able to connect into the network with 2.4Ghz. Everytime when I connect to the 5Ghz Network, it failed with some authentication issues (such as WPA3). I am sorry I am new to Linux.May I ask if anyone now how can I resolve the problem?

Hi there, I'm trying to install docker on my tinkerboard s running armbian 5.73. I've managed the following steps from your documentation: sudo apt-key adv --keyserver pool.sks-keyservers.net --recv-keys 0EBFCD88 sudo echo "deb [arch=amd64] https://download.docker.com/linux/ubuntu bionic stable" > sudo /etc/apt/sources.list.d/docker.list sudo apt update But when i tried to install docker using: sudo apt install docker-ce I'm getting the error that docker-ce has no installation candidate. Does anyone maybe have an idea how to get this working? Thank you.

Hi, I really like the new option to use DT Overlays on the tinkerboard. But right now I'm struggeling a little with it: I have an old installation with 5.60 which I updated to 5.70 via apt. But the /boot/boot.cmd is still the old one and the Overlays are not working. Maybe I'm blind, but I do not see, how to update u-boot and the boot.cmd as part of it via armbian-config. Can someone point me to the right direction? Thanks, Alex

Hello, I am using the armbian kernel+uboot patchset of the rockchip-next (4.14.x) part to support Tinkerboard+TinkerboardS in an own home automation environment. U-Boot 2018.05 and kernel 4.14.53 are working fine so far with the current patchset published on GitHub (thanks for this great work!). I am attempting to install the file Armbian_23.02.0-trunk.0112_Orangepi5_jammy_legacy_5.10.110_cinnamon_desktop.img from https://www.armbian.com/orangepi-5/ but the installation hangs at the point where the root password should be entered. If i use the file Armbian_22.11.3_Orangepi5_jammy_legacy_5.10.110_cinnamon_desktop.img from the Github archive the installation completes. I have tried to raise a bug but the only solution for not booting are hardware and the installation has not progressed far enough to enter any commands. Any assistance welcomed.

Hi I am looking for a low power, fanless, solution for a Debian server with a single large 3.5" SATA drive. I don't want to boot from the SATA so I guess I'd buy an eMMC module as well. Currently I have an Orange Pi4 LTS with a weird expansion board and a generic Mini PCIe to SATA, but it isn't stable enough. Given that the Rock 5C has platinum support and works with the Penta SATA hat I'm wondering if it might be more reliable? thanks

Hi everyone. I’ve been facing some issues with my RockPro64 lately, running on a dedicated version of Ambian for this sbc. Earlier, I was using a USB Bluetooth module with it for playing audio on my speakers (via Logitech Bluetooth adapter), and it worked perfectly fine. I wanted to save some USB ports so I decided to replace the module with a ROCKPro64 1*1 Dual Band WIFI 802.11 AC/BLUETOOTH 5.0 MODULE. But ever since I’ve done that, the audio quality is choppy and inconsistent. Receiver and transmitter are located closely, so I don’t think it’s a signal issue. It seems like a hardware or a software issue, but I’m not sure what could it be. I’d appreciate any help with …

I will receive soon a Orange Pi 5 Plus. I have setup completely an Orange PI5 with Armbian. I had to recompile kernel, compile drivers ...... it took some time. If I run the Orange PI5 plus with the same SD card as the Orange Pi 5, would it work? If not, is there an easy thing to do to make it work? I think there is a device tree file hardware specific , but is it read when compiling the kernel or dynamically? I am asking because processors are very similar, and it would make my life easier! Your view will be appreciated. Thanks.
