Hi, I have the board connected by HDMI to a TV but when I start I have no sound, I have to go to the speaker icon, configuration and the option is always selected "Speakers - internal audio" but if I want to have sound I have to choose the output option "Analogic ouput- internal audio" and if I restart I have to do the process again. According to the fine adjustment guide of ARMBIAN I must execute the command pacmd list-sinks | less And should be marked with * the selected card but none appears with that symbol. I attach the terminal output after selecting the right output on the desktop to have sound to see if someone is so kind to help me solve my problem. Thanks a…

I'm looking for information about the Ethernet chip on the Orange Pi 5. I need an SBC that has PTP hardware timestamp support (IEEE 1588). According to OrangePi.org, the Orange Pi 5 has the Motorcomm YT8531C, but I have not been able to find documentation that provides the answer about hardware PTP support. Most likely it does not, but I'd like to confirm on an actual device before purchasing one. If you have an Orange Pi 5, you can test this with this command: ls /sys/class/net |xargs -n1 ethtool -T If there is someone that is willing to run this command and post the output, I would appreciate it very much. Note: This is a cross-post from iot.stack…

In this post free software should be understood as coined by the fsf.org. Thank you.

Hey All, I am running a rockpro64 and updated my kernel to 5.7 (linux-image-current-rockchip64 package), but I am not able to run ZFS any longer because ZFS/0.8.4 does not support 5.7 kernel and ZFS/2.0.0rc1 dkms gives me a build failure with linux-image-current-rockchip64 v20.08 (symbol "__stack_chk_guard" is undefined). I was able to build ZFS/2.0.0rc1 with linux-image-current-rockchip64=20.05.7. I am not able to downgrade my kernel because the apt-cache only shows the latest version of linux-image-current-rockchip64 available. Any suggestions on where I can get the old linux-image-current-rockchip64 package (v20.05.7)? Thanks in advance guys, lo…

Hi! I'm using Tinkerboard S R2.0 in headless mode, but with LightDM (kiosk mode). It's connected to HDMI display, and I soldered display's backlight on/off contact to a relay that can turn on/off the backlight. I see that Amrbian turns off image output (launches screensaver as a black screen) after 10-15 min, but I could not find out where those settings are stored. Please help to find out.

Dear all, I have recently acquired an ODROID M1 board and flashed Armbian 24.5.3 on it to replace my old XU4 running Armbian 24.5.1. I've managed to port everything from the old XU4 to the new M1 except for two WiFi dongles. Does anyone have any clues to give as to setting up dual screen on the Nanopi m6? I searched the forum and found nothing. I don't know why I can never easily find Anything here. The forum shows one post for the Nanopi m6 and I know that can't be right. The Nanopi mirrors by default, and that is just not going cut it. Currently installing X on a minimal install. But that's the next thing. Get a reasonablf sized terminal up.

I purchased this board to use as a gaming station and, among the options, I'm using moonlight with sunshine to stream my steam to the room, which is working wonderfully well, but I'm having a problem. When pairing the control with Armbian, it is recognized as a joystick but I cannot use it in any way. I have two Sony Dualsense joysticks, I tested them both with cable and Bluetooth and the problem is the same. Can anyone guide me where I can start to debug the problem? The page for the NanoPi R76S has also an edge kernel (6.18) image. I noticed some issues related to sdcard and emmc. I know edge images are not officially supported and that is fine. But given the image is available I would like the parameters/configuration/conditions for the current available image. Could you explain the background or assumptions behind the 6.18 edge image for the R76S? (e.g., test conditions you used when building it)

I've got a ROCK 5B+ with two NVMe drives installed, and for reasons I've not been able to track down, I'm noticing that the `-edge` releases (Kernel 6.14.6) are not able to display more than one of the NVMe drives at once. I've checked various physical configurations (i.e., slot one, slot two, both slots), and only one slot is presented (i.e., output from `lspci` or `lsblk`) – but it doesn't seem to matter whether its slot one or two. If I use a `-vendor` images (6.1.115), I see both devices and can use them without problems. I'd love to be able to provide more information or help debug, but I'm not quite sure where to start here! …

However, only 1920x1080 appears in the available display modes. The 1280x800 mode is missing, even though it is clearly listed in the EDID.

Hello everyone, This is my 1st post on the forum. My intention with this post is not to report a specific issue that I am running into, but more because I would like to collect info and suggestions from people with more experience than myself. I've recently received an Orange Pi 5 Plus and have spent a bit of time exploring operating systems suitable for this system and have settled on the Armbian solution. I'm a HW designer by trade, and have done some SW work, but I do not consider myself proficient in SW at all. I find my way around things, but that's about as far as it goes.... For the my planned use of the OPi5+, I will need eMMC b…

Hi there, I've been trying to enable g_ether and USB OTG on my Orange PI 5+. I've tried things like editing /boot/orangepiEnv.txt and adding module-load dwc2,g_ether. However, I don't get any usb0 interface pop up which indicates to me that the USB/OTG mode is not set to peripheral on the settings. I'm not sure how to go about it? Would anyone be able to advise? I want to use the power port for also Ethernet.

Hello, After several days of debug I put the finger on a very strange issue using integrated Ethernet. I use my Rockpro64 mostly as a Samba and DNS server. In my network context I implement 2 vlans as vlan interfaces (eth0.10 and eth0.20). Each of these interfaces needs to use a specific mac address that differs from physical eth0 mac address (it is an important point). If I use only the physical mac my router is not be able to route correctly between vlans (probably an ivl/svl issue). Under this context I first noticed that when I bring down eth0.20 although using vlan 10 (so eth0.10) connectivity is lost. I then wr…

I understand that panthor is not supported for wayland but in that case I would expect libmali to fill in... but I ended up with lvmpipe. The overlay along with another recent post led me to believe that panthor was the expected default and libmali was an artifact, but I'm now questioning that after finding a thread identifying use cases where libmali can be preferred and a comment suggesting panthor wouldn't be available until 6.13. As a result, I am now questioning if there is a reason that software acceleration is the default and the user is expected to determine which path they want to go? I know support for the hardware has been slow going so I …

Hi, I've had my 5+ for a week now and tinker with it when I can. Some things I've noticed... Using Amrbian legacy 5.10 legacy.... the system draws about 2.2w idle using a USB meter and no peripherals attached. When using the trying the latest 24.2.0-trunk.79, the power draw increases to 3w idle. I also noted the LED flickers between green and red rather than blue and red with legacy. My guess is more peripherals are being enabled. When using legacy, the first time i run an apt-get update there are 39 'gets'. When I then added a launchpad ppa and run again I only get 6. Due to the shortage of memory chips these days, Radxa is using different emmc models in their boards. For example, I recently ordered a big batch of Rock S0 boards, but they had to be delivered with Sandisk iNAND 32GB emmc drives instead of the typical 8GB option. The problem is that Armbian did not reliably boot on these new boards. It randomly gets stuck during initialization with the onboard LED endlessly blinking. Some boards works, some did not, some only works sometimes. Long story short, in case other people also have this problem: I found the solution. I believe it is caused by Armbian's Rock S0 device tree enabling the HS200 high speed mode for t…

Hello, I'm the owner of a Khadas Edge2, and I'm trying to run it with a USB-C DisplayPort (plus touch, plus Power) screen. That combination has historically failed for me, especially with newer kernel versions. There's an old thread in the Khadas user forum https://forum.khadas.com/t/usb-c-dp-stopped-working-after-apt-update/21788 describing the problem, but it went stale and unfixed. I'm not a kernel developer, so I can't fix something like that myself. However, I recently ran an investigation with an agent that, although lengthy, appears to have produced a good fix. It's all in here, the documentation and the result: https://codeberg.org/graphic…

I finally successfully got Armbian installed on my Pinebook Pro's eMMC. That should be giving it its best possible performance. I thought you may all be interested in compiling a list of games that work at least reasonably well on it given its restrictions of being ARM64 architecture, 1.8GHz CPU & 4GBs RAM. So to start here is a list of the ones I currently have on mine. I may try more later but for now I'm limited by the stock 64GB eMMC that the PCP came with... 0AD - 3D RTS Cave Story - Pixel Art Metroidvania Dr Robotnik's Ring Racers - Kart Racer Dune Legacy - RTS Endless Sky - Space Sandbox Flare - Fantasy RPG Freeciv - St…

What? Sharing various gaming experiences with RK3588 (Orange Pi 5) on Armbian. Why? Because RK3588 is a capable gaming chipset, Armbian is a good OS; Vulkan on RK3588 is getting better over time (PanVk) How? Posting your gaming results here (preferably with setup and screenshots/videos) so people can learn more.

So I was messing around with my new OrangePi-5+ and installed the EDK2 UEFI firmware for Rockchip RK3588 platforms onto the SPI flash (/dev/mtdblock0). After which I tried all sorts of images and kernels with varying success, only the 5.10.160-legacy-rk3588 kernel would really have a working display. Until I tried a generic UEFI arm64 image (Jammy-CLI on a USB stick) which gave a working display, albeit at 1080p max. (my monitor is 4K) with no acceleration (after the extra steps), and installed the Mate desktop (just my preference). The big caveat is that it does not recognize the SD-card, EMMC or SPI-flash, just regular drives (e.g. sda/nvme0n1 etc) and I'm…

I slowly convinced myself that I wanted a PineBook Pro, some time after the first production run. But then COVID, parts shortages, etc. happened and they were not available again until about mid-2022. But when they were, I decided to snap one up. And since then I have not been able to get it to boot Armbian. It came from the factory with Manjaro, which for me being a Debian guy, might as well be useless. So the PBP sat around collecting dust. Since then I have tried a few times to get it to work. I read many forum posts, tried some things. I won't document all that in detail. In this post, I will continue from where I left off her…

If any of you have experienced skipping and popping when seeking with vlc, you can try setting the audio sink to ALSA and one of the rockchip-es8316 options. That will smooth out the audio playback BUT you will quickly discover that anything pulseaudio related is locked out of using the soundcard while vlc is up. Instead, try this. Set vlc audio back to pulseaudio (or automatic, seems to map to the same thing) and then change these two lines in /etc/pulse/daemon.conf: -; default-sample-rate = 44100 -; alternate-sample-rate = 48000 +default-sample-rate = 48000 +alternate-sample-rate = 44100 Restart pulseaudio with systemctl --user …

Hello! I installed the latest Gnome Noble image from the very top of the Orange Pi 5 page, it has Wayland and generally is working really well - it even is doing higher refresh rate for my monitor and is smooth! HOWEVER the one big thing I noticed right away - my screen never turns off anymore And my Power options are missing such settings? It only gives the option to blank, which still is running my monitor at 100% brightness and a horrible solution Where is the setting to turn my screen off after 5 minutes? NOT blank, but into standby mode Worked on the previous Cinnamon version but that version lacked higher refresh rates and I think…

Hi! With I tinkerboard I installed the Ubuntu Desktop - legacy kernel. I wanted to try the linux-image-next-rockchip, but it had some problems (new IP address at each boot), so I wanted to go back to linux-image-rockchip. Hello I'm running the NAS on Orange PI 5. I've run Armbian with EDK2 from https://github.com/armbian/build/pull/5900. The system starts from SSD disk connected via PCIE card with 4 SATA ports. Hi guys, I created another device tree overlay that I needed, to enable two user leds on GPIO. Specifically GPIO0_B7 and GPIO0_C0, which is pins 27 and 28 on the header. Posting it here in case someone needs it, like I did with with the SPIdev overlay too. Here it is: rk3308-user-leds.dts What I needed this for is ethernet port LEDs, since the original connector does not include them. To get standard ethernet LED behavior on these newly defined LEDs, you can do this (you need su access): modprobe ledtrig-netdev echo "netdev" > /sys/class/leds/rock-s0\:orange\:user1/trigger echo "netdev" > /sys/class/leds/rock-s0\:green\:user2/trigger e…

Hi. I need hardware OpenGL ES, at least 2.0. I’ve tried this https://github.com/rockchip-linux/libmali It works OK on latest Asus OS 2.0.1, but for Armbian 5.33 kernel 4.4.88 it doesn’t: ERROR: The DDK is not compatible with any of the Mali GPUs on the system. The DDK was built for 0x750 r0p0 status range [1..1], but none of the GPUs matched: Segmentation fault I don’t have much experience with Linux, but IMO it might mean the kernel + userland parts of the GPU driver are incompatible. Is there a working GPU driver for Mali-T76x on Armbian? Thanks in advance! Regards, Kosta.

Yeah so just like the title says, has anyone got a tip for a USB Bluetooth dongle that works with the mainline kernel? I got a UGREEN Bluetooth 5.0 dongle a while ago and have just tried again, installing firmware for it. It does get detected as a USB device and the firmware loads. But bluetoothctl never finds it. Gnome doesn't let me 'enable' bluetooth. I'd like to avoid buying a string of these so was just wondering if any are working with mainline? Cheers!

Does anybody know how one could correct multichannel HDMI audio mapping in the current-rockchip64 build or kernel? When I run speaker-test -c6 -D plughw:0,0 on (kernel) 6.1.115-vendor-rk35xx + (dtb) dtb-6.1.115-vendor-rk35xx Everything is mapped correctly and I hear audio from all the correct channels. When I run the same command on (kernel) 6.18.12-current-rockchip64 + (dtb) dtb-6.18.12-current-rockchip64 I get no audio on center and rear right channels (others are working). Is this a mistake or error in the DTB file of dtb-6.18.12-current-rockchip64 (rk3588s-nanopi-r6s.dtb) ? How can we correct this?

Hello all! I have a radxa rock 5b (8GB, not the plus version) and am running armbian (bookworm) on it. The kernel version (uname -r) reports as 6.12.32-current-rockchip64. By and large almost everything seems to be working - video playback in VLC is fine, 3d acceleration is working (I get around 58-60fps in the game 'torcs' as an example). The only thing I can't seem to get working (and can't find much about it) is the hdmi input. Hello! First, and foremost, how issue looks like: https://imgur.com/a/ZrPUi9t Initially I noticed this issue with Dell UP3017 (2560x1600) on Libre Computer ROC-RK3399-PC (post). However later I noticed this on fresh Armbian installations on NanoPC-T4 too (post). Later on I found that old Armbian installations on NanoPC-T4 is unaffected, probably because of older uboot (something from last Armbian 5.xx days) that already flashed on eMMC. It seems that the HDMI output does not have any option beyond 1080P. Tried multiple monitors. The font size at uboot stage seems right but the resolution maxed out at 1080P after kernel starts. Tried Armbian 24.2.1 with 6.6.16. Could be related with this: https://forum.manjaro.org/t/rk3399-hdmi-output-for-resolutions-different-than-1080p/90644. but patches should be applied at Kernel 6.4: https://www.phoronix.com/news/Linux-6.4-imx25-Rockchip-4K Attached is the screenshot when connected with DELL 25inch monitor. Should have 2K option. diagnoses: https://paste.armbian.com/gaketoluye Thank you
