On my Odroid M1 I have a display that will not work, other displays do work. Unfortunately, I need this display to work. When I plug it in, I see "PHY PLL not locked" in dmesg. If I boot with it plugged in, I see the Hard Kernel logo, then the screen turns off as Armbian boots. I booted into the Ubuntu 20.04 Gnome image provided by HardKernel and that one works. 1. What could I change to allow this display to be detected? 2. Can I just force the board to boot with output to 1024x768@60. I just need the output. Thanks all.

I am using Wifi/BT USB dongle to connect network for Orange Pi 5. But it does not work with Armbian. It works smoothly with Orange Pi's Ubuntu and Debian distros. I just need to insert the dongle into USB 3 to work. Is there anything I can do to use the dongle with Armbian? My dongle is "USB WiFi Bluetooth Adapter Dual Band 2.4/5.8Ghz Wireless RTL8821CU Don-ig"; https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/404244701011

Hi there. I just got my hands on a brand new 5T with 24GB of RAM and installed Armbian 26.04 minimal on it (on an SD card - no eMMC on this board). I immediately put it to use running CI jobs, however started seeing segfaults and things almost straight away. Current power source is the Radxa 60W power supply. Currently passively cooled (with the Radxa heat sink). Hasn't gone over 70º in the last 24 hours, even when maxxed out compiling rust packages. Here's information about the board: james@kassandra:~$ cat /proc/device-tree/model Radxa ROCK 5Tjames@kassandra:~$ james@kassandra:~$ dpkg -l | grep '^ii linux-' ii linux-base …

Referring the MPP samples, i have got an application which can give me NV12 data. 4 instance(or threads) of this application will give me raw data, i need to scale all of them in a single screen. Is it achievable through Mali GPU with current development of userland/kernel driver? Also i need to perform composition. On that tiled screen, i need to show other semi-opaque(transparent) window. Which library can help me to do the same?

Hi. I installed Armbian_20.02.1_Tinkerboard_bionic_current_5.4.20_desktop on my TinkerBoard (not S) and get weird screen state (white, then growing black circle in the middle). I tried Armbian_20.02.1_Tinkerboard_bionic_legacy_4.4.213_desktop and it works very good, but I still want to test vulkan driver, so I updated only kernel to 4.19 (install linux-image-next-rockchip, linux-header-next-rockchip, linux-dtb-next-rockchip and delete 3 old packages). After reboot I got same screen. Is it known bug? Can it be related, that I'm using HDMI-to-VGA adapter? Can you help me to fix it or get usefull logs?

So my boss deploys a plethora of Asus TInkerboards to assist with production. We are currently using an OS image provided to us by this website---specifically, Ubuntu_xenial_next_desktop.7z. On some occasions, with kick ass access points, the tinkers will disconnect from the wireless network that we are using. We are also using an antennae attachment which seems to help a bit with connection issues. Without providing too much specific info, is there an updated driver being worked on somewhere that I could be pointed towards? Any info/words of wisdom would be very helpful! Thank you! Best regards and thanks in advance! Joey

I have a TinkerBoard S. In Bionic Desktop (kernel 4.4), the wireless icon menu lists two devices: wlan0 (which is the expected interface) and p2p0: I don't know this one, but it is always chosen for auto-connecting to the local wireless lan, receiving a random IP and not the one I configured on the router. I can then manually connect to the network with the wlan0 interface the IP is correct. How do I disable / remove / anyway stop that p2p0 interface to "steal" the network connection?

playing around with armbian-config after switiching to vendor kernel - missing "toogle hardware configuration" Left is on (previous legacy vendor) kernel with "24.5.1 and right is legacy kernel with "24.2.1"" Just curious if anyone know why that is? Perhaps I should have taken other steps when switching to vendor kernel(I have rebooted and confirmed it is running vendor kernel prior to screenshot)

Sorry, don't have the Armbianmonitor info handy but wanted to get this started... I'm trying to bring up a Libre Renegade RK3328-CC for use as a media center. Armbian's performance is absolutely wonderful compared to the other builds I've tried on this box. Unfortunately, I want the HDMI output going to a Samsung Frame TV, and resolution negotiation fails badly -- I get obvious rasters with black between them, nowhere near the 4K that this TV model is capable of and not even a smooth conversion (Note that the eyes here suggests that the black line is occurring every third raster or something like that...) Tinkerboard (old one, not S) to be used as x2go thin client. Installed latest image (5.70_Tinkerboard_Ubuntu_bionic_next_4.19.14_desktop), applied all updates. Working fine (thanks to everybody who contributed). Issue remaining: My Tinkerboard refuses to use the monitor's native display size of 1920x1200, tried several monitors and cables (HDMI to DVI adapter cables, in case this is relevant). Without any modifications, Armbian desktop comes up with 1280x960. I used xrandr to set 1920x1080 (works), but 1920x1200 leads to "xrandr: Configure crtc 0 failed". Any chance to resolve this?

i'm stuck with this since day 1 but now i upgraded to armbian (with kodi-gbm) i had this problem worse stress testing the board with stress -c 4 doesn't bring the board into shutdown, but logging in to kodi-gbm or using graphical interface? it brings instability all of a sudden. there's no inherent pattern from the shudowns except when i launch kodi or access some files (emby transcoding doesn't cause any instability). anything outside the text mode should cause it to shutdown. weirdly enough, when i removed the USB peripherals (2xUSB HDD, own power supply for both cases) the instability worsens and doesn't boot or sometimes reboot cycle after fsck.ext4 on sta…

This will be a catch-all for HDMI-related things. Sep. 29, 2017 UPDATE First up is hotplugging in Mainline. Script/rule added to build system. Thank you @botfap for the script I am getting the system events triggered saying the HDMI is unplugged/replugged, (using udevadm -monitor) however nothing is happening in response to the events it would seem, the screen is still blank. I could hook a script to the event, but I'm not exactly sure what I would tell it to do... Any thoughts would be great, I'll be researching.

I've noticed that some system images will start the OrangePi with 4:2:2 output on HDMI instead of 4:4:4. This causes artifacts, especially when there's white text on a red background. What's the interface or method to change this? Does this have to be done via U-Boot or can it be done in userspace?

I have set up Armbian 24.8.4 bookworm on my 32GB Orange Pi 5 Plus. Most everything works as expected out of the box. The second HDMI port doesn't detect the second screen, and the screen displays No Signal. I have tested the cables and monitors to ensure they are functioning. Hello! I set up a firewall on the Asus Tinkerboard. I came across a very strange thing - the lack of support for the CT target in iptables. In fact, it appears that iptables has support of given target, but the required kernel module is missing. After running cat /boot/config-4.4.120-rockchip | grep NETFILTER_XT_TARGET_ST I saw the following: # CONFIG_NETFILTER_XT_TARGET_CT is not set. What the reason of that decision? It blocks ability to forward sip, ftp and some other protocols precisely. And also blocks ability to use SYNPROXY target correctly. Is it planned to include this module in the build?

Hi, since i have a Asus tinkerboard incoming i was wondering if anyone knows if the "generic" arm64 distro will work this board. Hello! I'm trying to look around in the Armbian build/config scripts to see how I can enable a mainline v6.15-rc3 kernel to be built. I did try to make a build/userpatches/lib.config file with the contents, KERNELBRANCH="tag:v6.15-rc3" But that's not working. Would anyone be able to tell me the file I need to edit for an OrangePi 5? Update: I actually seem to have it try by editing config/sources/families/rockchip-rk3588.conf changing the version tag. As https://www.armbian.com/tinkerboard/ has a quite fresh 4.14 Linux kernel (in Armbian Stretch Next Desktop 5.50) I am trying to use that instead of the standard TinkerOS 2.0.7 with a 4.4.103 kernel. However, Armbian is configured to provide only spidev2.0, while TinkerOS can have spidev0.0, spidev0.1, spidev2.0 and spidev2.1 all enabled at the same time as long as you disable UART4 which shares GPIO header pins with SPI0. In the TinkerOS case, there is a config tool which edits a small and straightforward text file in /boot/ containing lines such as "intf:spi0=on" or "intf:uart4=off". The corresponding Armbian file seems to be /boot/armbianEnv.txt - possibly…

Hello, Some weeks ago, I installed the kinetic version. It was rooted on the nvme drive and was working decently. After some explanations on this forum, I decided to install the LTS version. I burned a new SD card, inserted it and powered on. I was never prompt about where to install the system. After installation, the df command shows that the system is installed on the sd card. I can see nvme partitions in /dev but they aren't mounted. nvme is partitionned in two parts : one for the system, the other one is crypted and dedicated to data. How should I do? Thanks Julien

I have Orange Pi 5 Plus that I plan to install in a remote location. To boot Orange Pi, I need to press the physical Power On button. How I can setup the machine to boot automatically once the power is supplied? There is nobody on the remote side to press this button. Or maybe there are other options to boot remotely like WakeOnLAN? Where it can be configured? In orangepi-config?

Last week installed Armbian for the first time on my Pinebook Pro that was basically bricked from Manjaro. Everything worked great! Audio is a little weak, but will look into that later. Today I pulled down the 25.2.1/6.12.16 update. On booting in Grub, I now get a message "Loading Device Tree Blob...", followed by "Error: not a regular file Press any key to continue". The boot then continues after a bit, and system seems to work fine from a user perspective after that (posting this from the machine). But there are some rockchip-pcie, rk3399-dmc-freq and brcmf errors in the armbianmonitor output (attached url) . I'm an Armbian noob, so dunno if the…

Hello, I have installed the minimal Trixie based image for Orange Pi5 (the image named Armbian_26.2.1_Orangepi5_trixie_current_6.18.8_minimal) and then attempted to build an out-of-tree kernel module. Having installed dkms and build-essentials, plus the kernel headers through armbian-config, I found the headers package hasn't been fully set-up, the build symlink in /lib/modules/<KVER> is missing and dkms complains that the kernel headers for the kernel are not installed. The kernel headers are installed though, but it looks like they're from a previous release (25.11.2 instead of 26.2.1). # dpkg -l | grep rockchip ii linux-dtb-cur…

Same with your ROC-RK3399-PC (Renegade Elite): https://libre.computer/products/boards/roc-rk3399-pc/ How do you plan to solve heat dissipation there? And do I get it right that the USB-C in the upper left corner is meant as a generic 12V input?

There's a few problems with the UART driver on 5.0-rc2 kernels, since proper checks are not done correctly and lead to a Null Pointer dereference. I've adapted a set of patches from Urja Rannikko, which move the HDMI frequencies definition into the DTS file, with some preconfigured rates if none are defined in the DTS. The original patches set is here : https://www.spinics.net/lists/arm-kernel/msg673156.html The big patch I used as a basis is here : https://github.com/urjaman/arch-c201/blob/master/linux-c201/0020-RK3288-HDMI-clock-hacks-combined.patch I included these patches by splitting them again : https://github.com/Miouyouyou/RockMyy/commit/57ff073fffb5678e75959e566704376f6f52ac17 These patches were suggested to me here : https://github.com/Miouyouyou/RockMyy/issues/3 …

On several RockPro64 boards I experience infrequent freezes, mostly directly on boot, but also after some longer (hours, days) uptime. I use the official power adapter and no additional hardware except a PCIe adapter for an SSD, which works flawlessly when operational. When looking at the kern.log, there are quite a few errors and warnings, but comparing to a successful boot these are all also present. So I don't think they cause the freeze directly. Currently, I recorded the freeze on the latest Armbian Bionic as release just recently. FWIW, I think the same issue also occurs on the previous Debian Stretch image (had various freezes, but have not …

I would love someone to kindly review my Git Diff/device tree changes for any errors. I've attached my LCD init code as well, as well as the DSI portion of the dmesg output log, as well as my schematics for the custom driver board I have designed. https://drive.google.com/file/d/18E5zOGlNpdWLrD43R7bB4N-Mf_8mQFKY/view Thank you! Hello people, I have an Asus Tinker Board S and decided to use the Mainline Armbian for this board, love the new panfrost driver but seems it is glitching all over the place, icons in the menu disappear and reappear when mouse hovers over them, tick boxes do not show if they are ticked and only flicker when mouse is over them and applications menu keep redrawing all over when trying to use among the most prominent problems. Other operating systems work well in this matter. Anyone else is having these problems with the mainline 5.4.28 kernel build?

!!! Warning !!!: Think twice before you upgrade kernel on your PineBook Pro. After years unfortunately I decided to unlock upgrades Armbian Kernels and upgraded kernel to the newest one (current) - 5.15.93. After reboot Armbian couldn't find my encrypted root disk and booting ended every time in (initramfs). I installed again kernel 5.10.60 #21.08.1 and Armbian finds my encrypted disk again. Hello! I had an issue upgrading my khadas edge2 to the linux-image-edge-rockchip-rk3588 package (24.8.0-trunk.597) on the edge/rolling release image I had installed. It looks like issues with building the initramfs files, specifically trying to symlink on top of a file that already exists and/or copying the /bin/osk-sdl binary. The following seems to have allowed me to use apt install -f to get the kernel and initramfs files to be built and installed successfully. Probably the change in the symlink code was unnecessary, but I did both and got a bootable system out of it, so it's a bit late for me to test. I made the following changes to /usr/share/…

I've ran into two issues. The first my board won't boot off the Armbian Debian vendor image. Second it boots off the mainline Debian image, but when I try installing the boot onto the MTD via option 7 in Armbian-install it completes, but I get a solid blue LED and a UART output that hangs on BL31: Preparing for EL3 exit to normal world -> Entry point address = 0x200000 -> SPSR = 0x3c9 then it hangs. Before this I tried manually erasing the SPI and loader and reinstalling them with rkdeveloptool, but this didn't help. I would provide the UART logs, but the server is failing at uploading images. I'm looking to boot off the nvme, but I'm not sure how to resolve this.

Hello everyone, I have a problem with my NanoPi R4S. The WAN (eth0) port does not work well when it is configured to work on 1Gbps/Full. When this setting is active there is about 15% packet loss, which is quite annoying. In my tests I have already been able to identify that if I configure the port to work at 100Mbps/Full everything works normally. So I found the forum-post below, that explain that some u-Boot version wasn't setting the correct clock configuration for the netwok device at boot time, but now I have installed the linux-u-boot-nanopi-r4s-edge 22.08.6 and linux-image-edge-rockchip64 22.08.8 but the problem still there. Hi there, I've been trying to enable g_ether and USB OTG on my Orange PI 5+. I've tried things like editing /boot/orangepiEnv.txt and adding module-load dwc2,g_ether. I want to use the power port for also Ethernet.

Has anyone made (or bought!) an adapter that takes the 3 pin TTL-level console port and converts it to a DB9 or RJ45 port that can mount in a PCI bracket? If so, what did you use? And what port did you use to power it as the console port does not provide a 3.3V or 5.5V pin for power (there is a pin labeled "RSV" which seems to supply 5V and may be usable but I don't know its capabilities). I've done this before for other systems using these without too much trouble but when I tried with this board it's not working. Admittedly I haven't hooked it up to a scope to look at the signals, but I'm suspicious of the high baudrate being to blame. I have a couple USB ad…

I had this plan on utilizing the Radxa Rock 5 ITX+ as a Moonlight client device to stream games from my desktop computer to my living room TV, and using my 8BitDo Ultimate controller to play. The problem is that the interrupt is not working, and I am receiving the following error. How can I proceed? Does anyone know how to enable the WiringOP interrupt on the GPIO PIN? Code C : #define AUX 13 wiringPiISR(AUX, INT_EDGE_FALLING, &MyFunction); Error: wiringPiISR: unable to open /sys/class/gpio/gpio92/value: No such file or directory PS. I have just successfully installed this version: Armbian 23.02 Jammy Gnome

Couldn't booti from NVME with armbian-config or armbian-install, finally I could do it, a dirty easy and convoluted following way. No details about burning stuff This is what I did 1) boot system from fresh downloaded SD (Armbian Jammy Desktop) 2) NVME setup (sudo gparted) - if empty create a partition table (GPT) if not delete all partitions - create 256MB FAT16 partition (nvme0n1p1) - create EXT4 partition (nvme0n1p2) - optionally create more partitions (system recovery, backups ...) - format partitions nvme0n1p1 -> FAT16 - format partitions nvme0n1p2 -> EXT4 - check partitions (if old N…

Hi. Great work with Armbian. Any good advice setting up Wayland and pipewire (for OBS studio) on the Orange pi 5 (23.02 jammy gnome)? I did manage to install both pipewire+pipewire-media-session+pipewire-pulse+related qt5 Wayland package and setting up QT_QPA_PLATFORM=wayland environment variable. But no luck.

Hey guys, we are facing an issue we can not resolve ourselves so we are looking for some help on here... Our Rock Pi E does not restart successfully occasionally. Running the Rock Pi E with latest official Armbian with a USB soundcard attached. We are capturing audio and distribute the captured audio via "(c)VLC" via network. Since a few months we are facing reboot issues which are persistent but not easily reproducible. Whenever we reboot manually, everything works fine. When rebooting via cron it does often not reboot and get into a freeze state which makes it impossible to connect via SSH nor serial-adapter. We already tried switching the power so…

I have edge kernel installed and working. I compiled the v4l2 ffmpeg but some of my av1 videos are not working. After some digging I noticed that v4l2-ctl --device=/dev/video4 --list-formats-ext ioctl: VIDIOC_ENUM_FMT Type: Video Capture Multiplanar [0]: 'VT12' (Y/UV 4:2:0 (4x4 Linear)) [1]: 'NV12' (Y/UV 4:2:0) Shouldn't this include the 10 bit formats as well? (NV15?) Does anyone know why the 10 bit format is missing in the kernel? Is this specific to the orange pi? I found this GitHub - dongioia/rock5bplus-rkvdec2: Rock 5B+ (RK3588) on mainline Linux 7.1: V4L2 stateless RKVDEC2/Hantro hardware video decode (…
