Hi guys, I installed the latest Armbian (Buster) release for my Odroid HC4 and - after getting rid of Petitboot as that just wouldn't let me boot the image - it's working great so far. Only big problem I have is that it does not recognize any SATA devices, in neither of the two slots. I tried different HDDs / SSDs that I verified are recognized on a Windows PC and another Ubuntu PC. Did anyone get that working already? I assume the required Kernel drivers for the PCIe-Sata-chip are probably still missing. Many thanks and best regards Daniel

Good day! I have a Banana pi m2s with Amlogic A311D, 4GB RAM and 16GB emmc. Official images from Banana pi work on this device (both emmc and SD card). The problem is when I try to install Armbian on SD card - using BalenaEtcher on Windows / Disk tool on Ubuntu Mate: - the m2s either doesn't boot (when Armbian is written on emmc memory) - or m2s boots from emmc storage (when Armbian is written on SD Card) SD card has boot priority over emmc and works fine with official .img from bananapi. I see all written files on SD card after using Balena Etcher. The difference from official images is that boot folder in official …

Hey all, I'm unable to boot Armbian from the SD card of my Radxa Zero 1 GB. When I download one of the official Armbian Radxa Zero images I always get the message "ALERT! UUID=eba52b2e-b77a-47b9-9619-ebda85946883 does not exists. Dropping to a shell!" Previously I ask the Radxa community on Discord, were I received the suggestion that the CMA memory maybe was configured too high. I tried to make an image from master (4b21499534, after https://github.com/armbian/build/pull/4151 was merged) but that didn't help. When I run `dmesg` I get the following repeating error "mmc1: error -84 whilst initialising SD card" When I run `blkid` I do not get any output B…

Hello, I have been using the Le Potato for a while, and was able to save Armbian on an eMMC and boot from it. Then I tried putting another OS onto it but now it's no longer able to boot or recognize the eMMC module even when I go to Armbian settings. Please help me be able to use it again to continue tinkering around with it. Thanks very much!

I've spent the entire morning trying to boot armbian on a vim 3 basic. It won't boot from sdcard. I erased the emmc with krescue, no change except now it doesn't boot anything, except the krescue sdcard. I put the armbian image on a USB stick and tried to flash it to emmc With krescue but krescue says it's an invalid vim 3 image. I verified the Sha and I also tried using the extracted dot img file. Which isn't recognized by krescue. How do I boot an sdcard or flash the emmc When none of these things work? The only thing that boots now is the krescue sdcard. What am I doing incorrectly? What else can I try?

I am wondering how to install this. I've installed armbian on a nanopc, and edge V which is now a brick after a brief use as an armbian machine. But never successfully to a vim 3. I have a fresh out of the box vim3 that fails on boot with the current image on sdcard. The first vim4 was a doorstop on arrival. I finally have a second vim 4 that does seem to work if I push the function button 3 times it goes to oowow. But so far nothing that I've read works to boot from sdcard. "Holding the function button while power on." I havent found any instructions here about an install process other than insert th…

Hello all, I am using an Odroid N2 with a 16Gb emmc and Armbian Bookworm. However as this got a bit small, I installed Armbian Bookworm to a new 64Gb emmc (Armbian is installed on an SD and can then be copied/installed to emmc). This seemed to work fine, and I had a running system. However, on the 3rd or 4th reboot, I got the error that the file "boot.scr" wasn't readable. With that, the emmc was not bootable anymore. I reinstalled multiple times, and each time, the emmc would work for a 2-5 boots, but no more. Each time, i got the error as above, or the error as below (partition could not be found) I never had this issue with the 16Gb emmc? Does anyone …

Odroid-C2 (there was no adequate tag) After I upgraded my ssd install from 23.11.1 to 24.2.1, the board didn't boot. When starting 24.2.1 from a fresh sd card, usb and disk leds are on, and the board boots. But they don't show in lsusb. If I reconnect them after the board is booted, the leds stay off (and obviously they don't show in lsusb). Of course, booting from external ssd stops at some point, because usb is lost during the boot (when connecting a display, the failures start to happen on armbian services). Had to restore previous release 23.11.1 from backup on my ssd. Everything works again.

Hello all, I noticed that since recently (TM) I got loads of spam from panfrost in my dmesg output: I understand that this has something todo with graphics. The only "graphic" thing I'm doing is running standard Klipper-Screen through HDMI and this seems to be working as always... It definately wasn't there like half a year ago. can I get rid of it? Is it something to worry about? my armbian is running on a Banana-Pi CM4 module of of the eMMC. It's a rather standard installation with Klipper installed via KIAUH. sincerely - cad435

Hello community, I'm a beginner with all that kernel and modules stuff, so please be kind, if I am asking stupid questions. So Le Potato (and Sweet potato) take about 10 seconds before reaching systemd. Is there a way to speed this up? I've tried putting boot_delay=0 as well as console=serial in armbianEnv.txt in hope of shortening the time in u-boot, but these didn't change anything. I've also tried building this image with no initramfs and no loadable module support.

Hello everyone, I've recently started migrating a project for Banana Pi M5 from Debian 10 Buster to Armbian, because I've found that the latest versions of it now support the GPU, Mali G31, and come with Panfrost OpenGL driver, which is crucial for this project. Everything was perfect until I had to implement two features: operating with TV via CEC and showing boot logo. Quickly about the last one - as I've understood, we have to use Plymouth, but I didn't really get how to do it, I've tried to activate it but had no success (how exactly see under paragraph). However, it doesn't work on Server Images (even on those that were compiled with build tools and activat…

My current HC4-setup consists of 1 SSD and 1 HDD. The SSD contains the most recent Armbian-image (Buster-based) (https://redirect.armbian.com/odroidhc4/Buster_current). Long story short: it won't boot from SSD, and Google tells me it is because Armbian is not compatible with Petiboot. Armbian suggests the following solution: "Important: To be able to boot clean Armbian mainline based u-boot / kernel experiences, you need to remove incompatible Petitboot loader that is shipped with the board. From the Petitboot, go for “Exit to shell” and these commands to remove the Petitboot:" # flash_eraseall /dev/mtd0 # flash_eraseall /dev/mtd1 # flash_eraseall /de…

Hi, I installed armbian_23.8.1_Radxa-zero_bookworm-current_6.1.50 on Radxa Pi Zero eMMC and I have an USB SSD drive connected as storage. I have two Odroid C2s. One I have been using as NUT server for Eaton UPS. Today NUT clients report no connection. What seems to be the problem is the C2 (this happens with both, same SD card) are not seeing devices plugged into USB ports so the USB connection to the UPS is not working. I have verified the Eaton and USB cable are fine. I regularly update the C2 I wonder if a recent update has affected the USB port functioning? Any way to troubleshoot? I tried a few USB flash drives and then lsusb but none are seen.

I've tried shutdown -h now, poweroff, shutdown -h, all results in a reboot instead of shutdown. I've searched and haven't found a solution, just other people with the same problem. @Igor I tested the XFCE, CLI and Minimal Bullseye images from https://armbian.com/bananapi-m5 (2022-11-30). I tried to build myself one from master (current and edge - bullseye/desktop/xfce), same outcome: it shows the Splashscreen and then stops here: I don't have a USB-to-TTL adapter, so I can't provide more debug informations. The only images that still boot (reliably!) from the SD card are the ones archived here https://imola.armbian.com/archive/bananapim5/archive/ that still used the Kernel 5.19.16. I upgraded the kernel today via apt-get update/upgrade and it seems kernel for armbian 23.08 is being pushed to users with 23.02 breaking a bunch of stuff. After upgrading the kernel ethernet stops working and requires the user to manually downgrade kernel, uboot (and dtb?). I am currently on "current" kernel (6.1.11-meson64) I'm thinking of downgrading to legacy (5.xx) via armbian-config, does anyone know if this is safe?

I recently installed the latest precompiled Bullseye image on my Odroid HC4 and plugged in two Samsung 870 QVO 8TB SSDs. After configuring the system I noticed that they were not present, checking output from `/var/log/syslog` I can see the "SATA Llink down" messages for both channels. Installing Bullseye from download list works fine, but after `apt update / apt upgrade` or a firmware update through armbian-config, boot process gets stuck with Uboot logo in the corner and won't proceed any further. Any ideas? Using a EMMC card and BalenaEtcher to burn.

Yakov, Why do you list Armbian 23.5 Jammy as a supported load on https://www.armbian.com/radxa-zero/ Armbian 23.5 Jammy works on the 2G version of the Radxa Zero board. Armbian 23.5 Jammy does NOT work on 1G version of Radxa Zero. (and presume the .5G version) - Boot failure loop after identifying boot device on 1G version of Radxa Zero. Has this been fixed? In which version? Where do we find it? Armbian_22.08.0-trunk_Radxa-zero_bullseye_current_5.10.134_minimal.img.xz works on 1G version of Radxa Zero. - https://github.com/radxa-build/radxa-zero/releases/tag/20220801-0213

Hello everyone, I am trying to get a Bigtreetech PiTFT70 DSI screen working on my Banana Pi CM4 mounted on a Bigtreetech Manta M8P 3D printer control board. It is supposedly a clone of the Raspberry Pi 7inch DSI display and uses the same display and touch chips. The DSI port on the M8P is wired to DSI 1 port on the Bpi CM4. I have tried hacking together a device tree overlay for it but I don't know enough of what needs turning on and what addresses they require (i2c etc) to get it working. Can anyone with Amlogic meson knowledge assist me? I am running the latest armbian bookworm 23.8 with all current updates installed.

I want to run some legacy program written in .NET on some of my arm SBCs. When I run it on the board natively connected to screen, I got same issues drecribed in https://stackoverflow.com/questions/28674759/running-simple-winforms-application-on-mono-for-arm and https://github.com/mono/mono/issues/13049 I tested it does not work on LePotato and Orangepi3B, but works on Rock 5B so I think this is more general than specific board, but not affecting all boards. On the other hand, the program executes correctly when I run it through SSH with X forwarding. It also works with vendor provided image on Orangepi3B and Rock 4B. Some answer in the stack…

I tried three way for hiding mouse, but not work: 1. Unclutter: ``` unclutter -idle 0 -root -display :0 `` It shows unclutter: could not open display 2. startx -nocursor -> not work 3. Using xbanish and boot from Systemd: ``` ~/.config/systemd/user/xbanish.service ``` [Unit] Description=xbanish After=default.target [Service] Type=simple ExecStart=/usr/bin/xbanish Restart=on-failure StartLimitBurst=10 RestartSec=30 [Install] WantedBy=default.target Is there any good way for hiding mouse on XFCE4 desktop (Armbian) ? Hi, I just wanted to report how I got Armbian 23.8.1 working on my Khadas VIM3 Pro board. It was not an out-of-the-box success story, but after a few nights of debugging, I found the cause and fix of the issue. Hopefully this post will save debugging time of somebody else and maybe this can be fixed in future Armbian releases. The issue is as follows: After flashing the Armbian 23.8.1 image to the VIM3's internal EMMC storage, the SBC boots fine initially. I walk through the setup-process of users/passwords/network/locale, etc... After the set-up completes, I reboot the SBC. It starts booting as usual, but when X.org starts, my …

Hello! I have installed Armbian Bookworm on Khadas VIM3. Also I have enabled "UARTa" , "UARTc" in armbian-config utility. After reboot in file /boot/armbienEnv.txt I have checked options about uart (uarc). Also there are many files /dev/ttyS[0-7] exists. After this I try to connect "minicom -D /dev/ttyS0" (ttyS0, S1, and S3 etc). But no answer from my device on pins 15,16 OR 18,19 (this is a UARTA,UARTC, UART linux). Python sripts pyserial output: "i/o error". Does Armbian (Bookworm or Jammy) supports Khadas VIM3 UART? Are there successful cases? One more question: On Ubuntu Server files …

Logs: https://paste.armbian.com/kasujazuwo Hi, I've been looking to run the desktop version of Armbian on the M5 however it will not start (blank screen, no signal). I can see the Debian Icon at startup, and the Armbian Icon at shutdown. startx does not bring it up, however sudo startx will but I'm not sure if this is the best way. I have tested: Armbian_22.11.3_Bananapim5_bullseye_current_6.1.4_gnome_desktop.img Armbian_22.11.3_Bananapim5_bullseye_current_6.1.4_cinnamon_desktop.img and both are the same. Any ideas are appreciated! Thanks.

Hi, Like the title says the UART overlays are not working on the armbian radxa zero device if I use the official out-of-the-box image. Using the armbian-config I can enable UART A and B but these changes do not reflect in the /dev/tty devices (using other distros is can see /dev/ttyAML0, /dev/ttyAML1 and /dev/ttyAML4). Unless the devices are called something else i confirm that the overlays are not working. That being said I want to recompile a armbian image with the correct overlays but I am a complete noob. Here is my plan : i successfully compiled a minimal cli armbian image for the radxa zero without any…

If I connected the serial port with my device through GPIO pin 8 and 10 (UART_AO_A_TXD, UART_AO_A_RXD), the Radxa Zero with " Armbian 23.02.2 Jammy" failed to boot. If I removed my device from the serial port, zero can boot. After booting, I connected my device to the UART port, it worked well through /dev/ttyAML0. Any suggestions? Many thanks!

Whatever I plug into the usb otg port, it doesn't get recognised. I think the port got disabled. What happened? I connected a new harddrive via usb3 but the machine wouldn't boot because of some "Unexpected XHCI event". I had to add a usbstoragequirks to u-boot env. (via armbian-config) to solve that, but now the usb otg port is no longer working. Googled a lot and found one possible solution but it did not work for me ( https://forum.banana-pi.org/t/topic/5485/13 ). https://paste.armbian.com/aqowuxukev

Is there, or will there be, an Amlogic or Banana Pi issued GPU blob to run Vulkan? On v6 kernel ideally Amlogic does have a history of allowing this, for Odroid and Khadas. Duncan

I am trying to use radxa-zero with HDMI CEC support on Armbian debian. I tried all different Armbian debian versions, lsmod never give me module cec So I took a look at images provided by radxa (https://github.com/radxa-build/radxa-zero/releases/tag/20220801-0213, not armbian ones), cec is loaded by default I think this is the key: /lib/modules/SOME_KERNEL/kernel/drivers/media/cec/core/cec.ko This is in their image but not /lib/modules/6.1.11-meson64 folder (I guess also not in other kernel versions) If that's the case, CEC should not work on any meson64 devices. I saw CONFIG_CEC_CORE=y is in config. btw, another p…

Hello folks. I am thinking about getting a VIM3 or VIM4 as a PC for computation purposes. I think Monero mining shows the limit of a combination of memory + cpu. The higher the more performant the combination of memory + cpu is. My choice is currently between a board like VIM3 or VIM4 or a desktop i5 9th gen. I will be thankful if an owner can xmrig monero mining software to do a benchmark. So to do the benchmark one should: - Download xmrig - Run a benchmark and submit it: https://xmrig.com/docs/miner/benchmark The benchmark will be available in the benchmarks page in xmrig website. Note that there should be enough f…

The USB-C port and lsusb results suggest to me that this board should support USB 3 under Armbian, but I have no earthly idea how I would succeed at this. My first, naive attempt used the PinePhone docking bar. This looked like it might work as it passed power through to the M2S, and it also powered the WD Passport HDD I used to test, but no devices appeared. Is there a better fit? Perhaps the PinePhone device only works with Pine devices? This would be better posted on the official Banana Pi forum, but I'm apparently IP banned despite having never posted there. This is an Armbian system, so I reckon it's not too off-topic to ask here.

I've just installed Armbian Bookworm with the XFCE desktop on my Le Potato. Everything on the screen is larger than it should be so I checked the screen resolution in Settings->Display and it reports 1920x1080. However, when I go to screenresolutiontext.com it says I am at 960x540. What can I do to correct this? Thanks, Rich

hi all, I'm very new here, just got my first potato and am playing around with it. I noticed my top left USB port wasn't working at all, which googling led me to this thread here: It's a pretty old thread, but it seems to still be doing it, at least in the version of jammy I downloaded today. Not a dealbreaker for me, since I only really need 1 port, I can use one of the other 3 and it works fine, but thought maybe someone would want to know if you didn't already know. I DID confirm that it's not the board/port. If I put Ubuntu on it, I can see the drive just fine in blkid even when it's plugged into that pesky USB port.

Hello, I recently updated my N2 server from Bullseye to Bookworm. Reboot went fine. I then noticed I still had the old kernel from the linux-image-odroidn2 package (4.9.190-odroidn2), so I ran armbian-config, and told it to switch to linux-image-current-meson64. It installed packages for a bit, then rebooted on its own without asking. Since then, every boot is stuck with a U-boot logo at the top right of the screen. What I tried: Fixed a couple of issues in /boot (zImage was a symlinked to the old `vmlinuz-4.9.190-odroidn2` that no longer existed, I made it point to `vmlinuz-6.1.11-meson64` instead; `boot.ini` referred to `boot/dtb/a…

Hello All, I spent mainly a week figuring out why it was a nightmare with cinnamon on debian I thought it was a matter of cinnamon version and/or mesa version of panfrost but it was a modeline detection problem from xorg. Hi guys. I'm the maintainer for the Khadas VIM3. There are 2 small issue's with the Armbian images for VIM3, and also for VIM2. armbianmonitor -u http://ix.io/46L9 First off, the VIM3 has all its cores clocked to 1.5Ghz by default. I created a Jira for that a while ago. https://armbian.atlassian.net/browse/AR-1094 My simple fix is in /etc/default/cpufrequtils MAX_SPEED=15xxxxxxx → MAX_SPEED=2400000 But I have no idea how/where to adjust this so it is correct for all VIM3 images. Then for VIM2 and VIM3 (maybe VIM3L and VIM1 too) the HDMI audio isn't working as it should. https://armbian.atlassian.net/browse/AR-1095 I once was…

I was trying Jammy (autobuild) with kerenl 5.15.18 on Khadas Vim3 4GB RAM, but is does not start, no HDMI output, no LED activity. Then I tried Hirsute with kerenl 5.13 and that boots fine, but after update new kernel (5.15) and also u-boot is installed and then it does not start again. My solution for now is to boot Hirsute with 5.13 and replace all edge packages with current (linux-dtb-current-meson64, linux-image-current-meson64, and linux-u-boot-khadas-vim3-current). This downgrades the kernel to 5.10.81, but the board can be updated and boots fine.

Hi Everyone, on my odroid n2+ _armbian 5.10.123-22.05.3 everything is fine but the system runs on a class 10 (uhs-i) sd card with very low speed... odroidn2:brontolo:# sudo hdparm -Tt /dev/mmcblk0p1 /dev/mmcblk0p1: Timing cached reads: 3440 MB in 2.00 seconds = 1720.27 MB/sec Timing buffered disk reads: 68 MB in 3.05 seconds = 22.28 MB/sec ...performance is better with an emmc card but my interest is if you can make settings to improve the access speed, I haven't found anything on the net..!! would that be too complicated !? 😁 thanks for the advices... greetings to all..
