Hello all, As subtitler guy, I experienced many troubles making aegisub work. , I finally made the subtitle editor, working with hardware under armbian jammy but having still annoyances. I want to share my thought and my discoveries on it. First I would like to thanks all who post on this already, including alternative ways such as schroot and of course the armbian team for the improvements of the boot .. schroot allow to run an linux in a linux. According to what I experienced, meson driver development is leaded by oibaf and in advance in ubuntu but here aegisub does exists only on debian. The idea was thus to boot on debian jammy and chroot i…

Hello all, I am using an Odroid N2 with a 16Gb emmc and Armbian Bookworm. However as this got a bit small, I installed Armbian Bookworm to a new 64Gb emmc (Armbian is installed on an SD and can then be copied/installed to emmc). This seemed to work fine, and I had a running system. However, on the 3rd or 4th reboot, I got the error that the file "boot.scr" wasn't readable. With that, the emmc was not bootable anymore. I reinstalled multiple times, and each time, the emmc would work for a 2-5 boots, but no more. Each time, i got the error as above, or the error as below (partition could not be found) I never had this issue with the 16Gb emmc? Does anyone …

Hi, A Firefox configuration file seems missing in Lepotato images derived from Debian because a failure message is raised after starting Firefox. A firefox.conf file should be placed in /etc/armbian . An issue has been raised in the geckodriver repository of github.com/mozilla giving more details: https://github.com/mozilla/geckodriver/issues/2167

Odroid-C2 (there was no adequate tag) After I upgraded my ssd install from 23.11.1 to 24.2.1, the board didn't boot. When starting 24.2.1 from a fresh sd card, usb and disk leds are on, and the board boots. But they don't show in lsusb. If I reconnect them after the board is booted, the leds stay off (and obviously they don't show in lsusb). Of course, booting from external ssd stops at some point, because usb is lost during the boot (when connecting a display, the failures start to happen on armbian services). Had to restore previous release 23.11.1 from backup on my ssd. Everything works again.

Hi, after a long time I started up my C4 and tried both the standard download kernel as well as a home compiled one. I need SPI on the C4, so I changed the device tree to meson-sm1-odroid-c4-spidev.dtb, and see spidev kernel modul loaded, but no driver, and I don't get any signals on the corresponding pins. Any help is appreciated - would be great to have SPI working again... See you, Michael

I have two Odroid C2s. One I have been using as NUT server for Eaton UPS. Today NUT clients report no connection. What seems to be the problem is the C2 (this happens with both, same SD card) are not seeing devices plugged into USB ports so the USB connection to the UPS is not working. I have verified the Eaton and USB cable are fine. I regularly update the C2 I wonder if a recent update has affected the USB port functioning? Any way to troubleshoot? I tried a few USB flash drives and then lsusb but none are seen.

I've tried shutdown -h now, poweroff, shutdown -h, all results in a reboot instead of shutdown. I've searched and haven't found a solution, just other people with the same problem. I'm running "Armbian_24.2.1_Lepotato_bookworm_current_6.6.16_cinnamon_desktop.img", has anyone found a solution to this problem? I tried raspbian on the le potato and that will shut down but gives me other issues when installing openhabian. Armbian just seems to work otherwise but I'd like a clean way to shutdown when needed so I don't risk corrupting my sd card.

I have just installed an Armbian Jammy CLI on my BPI-CM4. I need to use the UART that is routed to pins 8 and 10 on the 40-pin connector (UART_EE_B in the BPI-CM4 schematics). I have enabled it in the device tree by changing this from disabled to okay: serial@23000 { compatible = "amlogic,meson-g12a-uart\0amlogic,meson-gx-uart"; reg = <0x00 0x23000 0x00 0x18>; interrupts = <0x00 0x4b 0x01>; clocks = <0x12 0x02 0x2a 0x12>; clock-names = "xtal\0pclk\0baud"; status = "okay"; phandle = <0x12b>; }; Once rebooted, and new UART appears (ttyAML6). VIM2 responds to pressing the function button three times, with the blue LED blinking briefly, but after that nothing happens. The only thing that worked was connecting via UART and after resetting I got this (see screenshot). Where, in addition to the lack of loading, this line confuses me DDR3 chl: Rank0+1 @ 912MHz - FAIL Apparently, I have a problem with u-boot, and maybe a hundred more. I have a brand new VIM4 NPU bare board in fanless aluminum case with power supply and Khadas cable. Khadas Ubuntu versions with gnome desktop work perfectly without any slowdown in both emmc and sd version but armbian desktops do not work! All versions with cinnamon (oblique lines) and gnome (armbian logo) freeze after launching the desktop environment whether with an installation on emmc sd or usb… No problems with server versions, only desktop versions… I wonder if it is the fact of not having a fan and/or the NPU chip that makes the Armbian desktops…

Hello everyone, I've recently started migrating a project for Banana Pi M5 from Debian 10 Buster to Armbian, because I've found that the latest versions of it now support the GPU, Mali G31, and come with Panfrost OpenGL driver, which is crucial for this project. Everything was perfect until I had to implement two features: operating with TV via CEC and showing boot logo. Quickly about the last one - as I've understood, we have to use Plymouth, but I didn't really get how to do it, I've tried to activate it but had no success (how exactly see under paragraph). However, it doesn't work on Server Images (even on those that were compiled with build tools and activat…

Hello everyone, I am trying to get a Bigtreetech PiTFT70 DSI screen working on my Banana Pi CM4 mounted on a Bigtreetech Manta M8P 3D printer control board. It is supposedly a clone of the Raspberry Pi 7inch DSI display and uses the same display and touch chips. The DSI port on the M8P is wired to DSI 1 port on the Bpi CM4. I have tried hacking together a device tree overlay for it but I don't know enough of what needs turning on and what addresses they require (i2c etc) to get it working. Can anyone with Amlogic meson knowledge assist me? I am running the latest armbian bookworm 23.8 with all current updates installed.

Hi, I just wanted to report how I got Armbian 23.8.1 working on my Khadas VIM3 Pro board. It was not an out-of-the-box success story, but after a few nights of debugging, I found the cause and fix of the issue. Hopefully this post will save debugging time of somebody else and maybe this can be fixed in future Armbian releases. The issue is as follows: After flashing the Armbian 23.8.1 image to the VIM3's internal EMMC storage, the SBC boots fine initially. I walk through the setup-process of users/passwords/network/locale, etc... After the set-up completes, I reboot the SBC. It starts booting as usual, but when X.org starts, my …

Hello folks. I am thinking about getting a VIM3 or VIM4 as a PC for computation purposes. I think Monero mining shows the limit of a combination of memory + cpu. The higher the more performant the combination of memory + cpu is. My choice is currently between a board like VIM3 or VIM4 or a desktop i5 9th gen. I will be thankful if an owner can xmrig monero mining software to do a benchmark. So to do the benchmark one should: - Download xmrig - Run a benchmark and submit it: https://xmrig.com/docs/miner/benchmark The benchmark will be available in the benchmarks page in xmrig website. Note that there should be enough f…

Hello! I have installed Armbian Bookworm on Khadas VIM3. Also I have enabled "UARTa" , "UARTc" in armbian-config utility. The USB-C port and lsusb results suggest to me that this board should support USB 3 under Armbian, but I have no earthly idea how I would succeed at this. My first, naive attempt used the PinePhone docking bar. This looked like it might work as it passed power through to the M2S, and it also powered the WD Passport HDD I used to test, but no devices appeared. Is there a better fit? Perhaps the PinePhone device only works with Pine devices? This would be better posted on the official Banana Pi forum, but I'm apparently IP banned despite having never posted there. This is an Armbian system, so I reckon it's not too off-topic to ask here.

I upgraded the kernel today via apt-get update/upgrade and it seems kernel for armbian 23.08 is being pushed to users with 23.02 breaking a bunch of stuff. After upgrading the kernel ethernet stops working and requires the user to manually downgrade kernel, uboot (and dtb?). I am currently on "current" kernel (6.1.11-meson64) I'm thinking of downgrading to legacy (5.xx) via armbian-config, does anyone know if this is safe?

hi all, I'm very new here, just got my first potato and am playing around with it. I noticed my top left USB port wasn't working at all, which googling led me to this thread here: It's a pretty old thread, but it seems to still be doing it, at least in the version of jammy I downloaded today. Not a dealbreaker for me, since I only really need 1 port, I can use one of the other 3 and it works fine, but thought maybe someone would want to know if you didn't already know. I DID confirm that it's not the board/port. If I put Ubuntu on it, I can see the drive just fine in blkid even when it's plugged into that pesky USB port.

Hello, I recently updated my N2 server from Bullseye to Bookworm. Reboot went fine. I then noticed I still had the old kernel from the linux-image-odroidn2 package (4.9.190-odroidn2), so I ran armbian-config, and told it to switch to linux-image-current-meson64. It installed packages for a bit, then rebooted on its own without asking. Since then, every boot is stuck with a U-boot logo at the top right of the screen. What I tried: Fixed a couple of issues in /boot (zImage was a symlinked to the old `vmlinuz-4.9.190-odroidn2` that no longer existed, I made it point to `vmlinuz-6.1.11-meson64` instead; `boot.ini` referred to `boot/dtb/a…

Hello All, I spent mainly a week figuring out why it was a nightmare with cinnamon on debian I thought it was a matter of cinnamon version and/or mesa version of panfrost but it was a modeline detection problem from xorg. After trying my luck I finally discover where the bad duck resided on debian versions : - bullseye who was lagging , managing to use mali accel but overflowded with log errors - bookworm was loosing HDMI signal just after login in.. I will only talk about bookworm In fact, cinnamon internal xrandr, tool who detect the screen modelines, fails to access and to grab screen EDID modelines like xrandr did. it resul…

I am trying to use radxa-zero with HDMI CEC support on Armbian debian. I tried all different Armbian debian versions, lsmod never give me module cec So I took a look at images provided by radxa (https://github.com/radxa-build/radxa-zero/releases/tag/20220801-0213, not armbian ones), cec is loaded by default I think this is the key: /lib/modules/SOME_KERNEL/kernel/drivers/media/cec/core/cec.ko This is in their image but not /lib/modules/6.1.11-meson64 folder (I guess also not in other kernel versions) If that's the case, CEC should not work on any meson64 devices. I saw CONFIG_CEC_CORE=y is in config. btw, another p…

Hi all. Performance from my testing of playing video via VLC of a 1080p click (encoded at 10mbps) was very bad, unusable basically. Does anyone have any tips for programs or configuration to get reliable 1080 video running, ideally without having to use something inside of xwindows ?

On the page https://www.armbian.com/bananapi-m2s/ I tried to download the Bookworm XFCE build at the link https://redirect.armbian.com/region/NA/bananapim2s/Bookworm_current_xfce but that link gives a 404 error. EU mirror worked. Where should I report this?

This isn't a question but more of a tutorial. I wanted to install Debian Bookworm with latest kernel to my odroid. I'm documenting my steps and experience here in case you stumble across it and find it useful. At the time of writing, the link on the Odroid HC4 site to download Bookworm is broken. No worries, I thought, I'll just build it myself, doesn't seem too hard. My host system is Windows 10 where I'm building in a WSL 2 Ubuntu. It has GCC 9.3.0 installed. Follow the usual instructions here. My compilation command is: ./compile.sh KERNEL_CONFIGURE= BUILD_MINIMAL=no BUILD_DESKTOP=no EXTERNAL_NEW=prebuilt BOARD=odroidhc4 BRA…

Hi, Like the title says the UART overlays are not working on the armbian radxa zero device if I use the official out-of-the-box image. Using the armbian-config I can enable UART A and B but these changes do not reflect in the /dev/tty devices (using other distros is can see /dev/ttyAML0, /dev/ttyAML1 and /dev/ttyAML4). Unless the devices are called something else i confirm that the overlays are not working. That being said I want to recompile a armbian image with the correct overlays but I am a complete noob. Here is my plan : i successfully compiled a minimal cli armbian image for the radxa zero without any…

I am unable to configure Xorg to ignore (and stop using as its default) the None-1 video device causing me not to be able to display a desktop via the HMDI-1-1 device. It has been suggested (https://ubuntu-mate.community/t/how-to-configure-xorg/26732/3) that I disable this device in the kernel, hopefully, via a kernel option such as : video=None-1:d Does anyone know where (which file) and how (specific method) I should do this?

I had another distro and power button nicely shut down the system and it doesn't with armbian. I have read some things about it but I'm not even sure if they apply to this board or they are updated, about acpi events, logind and AR100, and I've read the official schematics of the board. It seems the button is connected to ADC pins. I installed acpid but acpi_listen reports nothing. But evtest does! root@bananapim5:~# evtest /dev/input/by-path/platform-adc_keys-event Input driver version is 1.0.1 Input device ID: bus 0x19 vendor 0x1 product 0x1 version 0x100 Input device name: "adc_keys" Supported events: Event type 0 (EV_SYN…

When I try to do "apt upgrade" on a brand new SD Card that has been just flashed I get a "kernel panic". This is the whole error: https://paste.debian.net/1283664 And this is the armbianmonitor -U log: https://paste.debian.net/1283662/ The board runs fine with debian with 4.9.x kernel supplied by manufacturer. Armbian is the second image I try because I need a newer kernel. I'll try to find one that is less new. Thank you for your support! EDIT: I tried again without wifi and it worked flawlessly. I can't make it crash with a wired connection. I used the same wifi plug with Debian and I never had an error but may…

I've spent the entire morning trying to boot armbian on a vim 3 basic. It won't boot from sdcard. I erased the emmc with krescue, no change except now it doesn't boot anything, except the krescue sdcard. I put the armbian image on a USB stick and tried to flash it to emmc With krescue but krescue says it's an invalid vim 3 image. I verified the Sha and I also tried using the extracted dot img file. Which isn't recognized by krescue. How do I boot an sdcard or flash the emmc When none of these things work? The only thing that boots now is the krescue sdcard. What am I doing incorrectly? What else can I try?

If I connected the serial port with my device through GPIO pin 8 and 10 (UART_AO_A_TXD, UART_AO_A_RXD), the Radxa Zero with " Armbian 23.02.2 Jammy" failed to boot. If I removed my device from the serial port, zero can boot. After booting, I connected my device to the UART port, it worked well through /dev/ttyAML0. Any suggestions? Many thanks!

I'm having trouble enabling UART_B on my Radxa Zero Ver 1.51 board using "Armbian 23.02.2 Jammy" The idea is to connect a GPS, I had already done this with a Raspberry Pi Zero and it worked fine but I need more CPU capacity and that's why I switched to this board. Has anyone had experiences to enable these serial ports? Thanks

Yakov, Why do you list Armbian 23.5 Jammy as a supported load on https://www.armbian.com/radxa-zero/ Armbian 23.5 Jammy works on the 2G version of the Radxa Zero board. Armbian 23.5 Jammy does NOT work on 1G version of Radxa Zero. (and presume the .5G version) - Boot failure loop after identifying boot device on 1G version of Radxa Zero. Has this been fixed? In which version? Where do we find it? Armbian_22.08.0-trunk_Radxa-zero_bullseye_current_5.10.134_minimal.img.xz works on 1G version of Radxa Zero. - https://github.com/radxa-build/radxa-zero/releases/tag/20220801-0213

Hi Everyone, on my odroid n2+ _armbian 5.10.123-22.05.3 everything is fine but the system runs on a class 10 (uhs-i) sd card with very low speed... odroidn2:brontolo:# sudo hdparm -Tt /dev/mmcblk0p1 /dev/mmcblk0p1: Timing cached reads: 3440 MB in 2.00 seconds = 1720.27 MB/sec Timing buffered disk reads: 68 MB in 3.05 seconds = 22.28 MB/sec ...performance is better with an emmc card but my interest is if you can make settings to improve the access speed, I haven't found anything on the net..!! would that be too complicated !? 😁 thanks for the advices... greetings to all..

Hi, I'm trying to use an external RTC clock (https://www.hardkernel.com/shop/rtc-shield/, battery is good) connected over I2C to wakeup the Odroid HC4 from poweroff (or if not possible from disk-suspend). Hello, I’m in a pickle. I bought an Odroid HC4 a few months ago, setup a RAID-1 array and installed Nextcloud on it. At the time, I used `nand-sata-install` to move the system from the SD‑card to a partition of one of the HDD (/dev/sda1), out of RAID (/dev/md0), and leave the bootloader on the SD-card. I did not make a backup of this SD-card and, after rebooting today, I realised the SD-card was not functioning any more. No device I use (Sansa audio player with Rockbox, phone with Ubuntu Touch, Laptop with Ubuntu) would even detect it. I was thinking of using `nand-sata-install` again to only update the bootload…

Hi there! I've installed Armbian 23.02.0 Jammy on my Banana Pi M5. And I'm using 3.5" display with HDMI interface. Hello, I've got a Le Potato, and a Tritium (I like the Tritium better, but I "feel" that Le Potato is a little bit quicker for longer). I've had them for about a week, I am a daily *nix user, and run several RBPi's around my home - 3D printers, Motion Cameras, Christmas Lights, and one is even a back up web server. My notebook runs Arch, my server runs Gentoo, and my workstation usually runs RebornOS or ZeroArch depending on my mood). When I started using these Libre Boards, I was happily impressed but using them as a desktop (my intention is/was to get my kids a 3D printer, and use these to do double duty as slicers, and basic desktops (I've got a…

Hello, I'll start by saying I'm new at those things. I have recently bought a "Le Potato" board. I was trying to install Lakka (via raccomanded link). When I plugged in the micro SD, the power, the HDMI out ecc, nothing happened other than two led turning on (red and blue). What could have gone wrong? Thanks in advance

I recently installed the latest precompiled Bullseye image on my Odroid HC4 and plugged in two Samsung 870 QVO 8TB SSDs. After configuring the system I noticed that they were not present, checking output from `/var/log/syslog` I can see the "SATA Llink down" messages for both channels. After several reboots I tried seating them after booting, both drives cause some messages about a soft reset failing, then eventually within 30-60 seconds are recognised until I reboot. I then one Crucial MX500 4TB SSDs which was recognised at first, after some reboots it would no longer be present, or strangely, be present with a much lower capacity (1TB). When seating the d…

Hi everyone, I'm using Radxa Zero HW version 1.4, 4GB RAM with 64GB eMMC. I used long time armbian on SD card. I decided to install MMC for better performance but armbian crashes APT involving stuffs. By the way, I'm using Rzero with headless and connecting via SSH from Win11 machine. I installed with producer tools directly writing image to MMC and alternatively installed with armbian-config tool from SD card to MMC. In both way successfully boots and connects Wi-Fi. For better diagnostic, how can I get error dump? (I lost SSH connection when its crushed).

Hello, The mission: to change display resolution for "None-1" ('unknown display') - when no physical screen/display/monitor is attached. Machine: Banana Pi M5 (Bpi M5). I use it as a headless machine (without any monitor connected) and access it via a remote control/share screen application (such as: Teamviewer). The problem: the display is very small as the resolution is set to 720 X 576. I couldn't find any way or method to define/change the resolution in such a case. How can this be done? I'll appreciate any assistance you can provide. Thanks in advance! This is the information of the machine and Armbian version installed…
