hello. I have a problem for quite some time on my tinkerboard. I do not know if it's a software or hardware problem. It appeared after connecting a special Raspberry USB Hub http://www.uugear.com/product/7-port-usb-hub-for-raspberry-pi/ I used this HUB on a raspberry 3b but he grilled the wifi chip (disappeared totally). I thought I had to grill the wifi chip of the tinkerbard like the raspberry but I can see the chip turn on from time to time. Today she has reappeared but "wlan0 not ready" in the network manager. sudo ip link show wlan0 wlan0: <BROADCAST, MULTICAST> mtu 1500 qdisc noop state DOWN mode DEFAULT group default qlen 1000…

I bought a wifi dongle (for 3 pounds on ebay!) having a realtek chip 8821cu. There were some disconnects from time to time, and I was unable to find out why from the logs. Few days ago I installed and recompiled the realtek drivers from https://github.com/lwfinger/rtw88, got some new modules, replaced the modules in the directory /lib/modules/6.1.43-vendor-rk35xx/kernel/drivers/net/wireless/realtek/rtw88 Since then, I have no more disconnect. This may helps someone maybe.

Hello everyone, I’m using a Radxa Zero 3E with Armbian 24.8.1 Bookworm OS and trying to connect a device to Radxa via UART. However, I can’t seem to find the ttyAML0 interface. The only UART interfaces visible are ttyS1 and ttyFIQ0 , but neither works for my setup. I have connected the device to the UART_AO_A pins (pins 8 and 10). Additionally, when I go to armbian-config -> System -> Hardware, no hardware appears on the screen. Could this issue be related to the Armbian image I am using? I’ve already tried the b6 image, but it has a boot problem. I also noticed that the other official Radxa images are marked as pre-release. …

I have a RK3588 (Radxa Rock 5C) system running Armbian Debian Trixie. I have the heatsink and the fan installed as well. I set the fan PWM to 255 as soon as temperature reaches 50 degrees via a systemd service. When using all 8 cores, the system overheats (>110 degrees) and eventually shuts down. For example, when compiling ffmpeg, it works fine with 'make -j6', but 'make -j8' results in a shutdown before compilation is complete. Likewise I had thermal issues when using llama.cpp. Shouldn't the OS throttle the CPU when temperature reaches high levels? I think that is not happening at the moment. Online search referred me to cpufrequtils to …

There's a strange issue with my orange pi 5 plus. When I boot into the ubuntu image, everything is fast, stable and zippy. But when I boot into the openmediavault image, it's incredibly slow. Simple operations like apt upgrade crawl. I noticed the cpu frequency is stuck at 408 MHz in htop in the openmediavault image. I ran a test. I opened another console and ran yes. Went back to htop and the frequency was still stuck at 408 MHz with one core pegged at 100% from the yes. So I fired up the ubuntu image and did the same thing. The core was at 100% but the frequency was at 2304mhz on that core. There is something wrong with the openmediavault …

Hello, Recently I have upgraded Armbian on my PBP (w/o kernel). My current kernel is 5.10.60 #21.08.1. I know, it's old but the newer only makes PBP unusable at all - black screen on boot. My current issue concerns the PBP keyboard. Some keys started generating weird outputs. I have never faced with something like that. When I press 'q' - output is - aq2468 x - zxetuj c - cfghk d - DWRI 1 - the screen is dimming I have no idea if this is software or hardware issue. The computer was on the shelf. Nothing has happened to it physically. After years of fighting with this crap :( - I want to be sure if that is the last straw to put this com…

!!! Warning !!!: Think twice before you upgrade kernel on your PineBook Pro. At first, the card was recognized as a Mass Storage, I used usb_modeswitch to make it recognized as a wifi card, but iwconfig still didn't show this card, and /sys/kernel/debug/ieee80211 did exist, but was empty. I don't think it's a driver issue because when I plugged this card into my debian laptop, it worked even without usb_modeswitch. journalctl and lsusb logs are in the files. journalctl.log lsusb.log

Hi there, I've been using ARMbian for a couple of years now under a Rock Pi S board. I'm using an ARMbian OS image based on kernel 4.4x because it have a virtual wlan interface called P2P0, this allow me to use the board as WiFi repeater, I've written a post about it here. However, in recent ARMbian OS images with kernel 5.x and 6.x that virtual interface isn't there. I see in ARMbian OS image with kernel 6.x that the WiFi Hotspot set up menu in the armbian-config tool show an interface called p2p0-dev, but it doesn't work. My question: why? these newer kernels have limitations on this board? or maybe need to compile the kernel with custom modifications?. …

I am trying to compile a new kernel in order to support some satellite receiver tuner (from TBS). I did that successfully (In February 2023) on Orange Pi 5 with Linux kernel 5.10.110, but I am struggling doing it with Orange PI 5 Plus with Linux 5.10.160 (jammy). Sorry bad English. I advise that I'm a noob. I know that it's possible because exists one HOW-TO of this for Raspberry Pi 3b+. I wanna that someone, with knowledge in Armbian and Tinker Board, build (adapt) this DTS on GITHUB https://github.com/fbeltrao-br/mksts35/blob/main/mksts35v2.dts. Hello everyone, I use my Orange Pi 5 board to run Open Media Vault with Wireguard installed. But there is a known issue with Wireguard that, when installing it, you have to manually reinstall the correct kernel into the board again, otherwise it won't be able to boot. However, ever since it has been installed, during apt update / apt ugrade of my board, it keeps recognizing the wrong kernel to be updated and changing the symlinks inside the /boot/ folder, rendering the board unbootable. If I see this happening, I can change the symlinks and it works normally after that. However, sometimes the symlinks changes unnoticed and I cannot boot anymore. I…

I installed the image "Armbian 26.5.1 KDE Wayland (Ubuntu 26.04 - vendor 6.1.115)", then I installed mpv, but when I try to play movies, it says: marus@nanopi-m5:/mnt/NAS/WDRed1/Samples/FullHD$ mpv --hwdec=rkmpp --vo=gpu --gpu-api=opengl H265.8bit.FullHD.192…

Not an issue nor a bug nor a trouble abour my Orange pi or Armbian. I wanted to build my "own" armbian for educational purpose. I mean to raise my knowledge. I followed this page. https://docs.armbian.com/Developer-Guide_Build-Switches/ however since it's done. I'm looking for about how to make the *.img file or if I can use *.deb located in my ~/build/output/debs I just miss these informations to finish and trying my failure compilation. I say failure compilation because "first time" is always a fail By the way, if I posted in the wrong place. Delete my post and please accept my apologies.

Hello, The issue I describe below begins with a simple 1GB/s speed test with iperf3 (using tcp, then udp). With tcp everything is almost ok. With udp it's an other story. I first try through Internet and notice that there is connection drops. The network topology is : test computer => internet => router => switch (Mikrotik crs-326) => Rockpro64 The iperf3 server is on Rockpro64, and the client is on test computer. I then try to narrow down : - I connect directly to the switch and try again : in and out switch ports show near max speed (~1 Gbps), however the iperf3 server logs show 2 or 3 transfers at reduced speed, then show no tran…

If any of you have experienced skipping and popping when seeking with vlc, you can try setting the audio sink to ALSA and one of the rockchip-es8316 options. That will smooth out the audio playback BUT you will quickly discover that anything pulseaudio related is locked out of using the soundcard while vlc is up. Instead, try this. Set vlc audio back to pulseaudio (or automatic, seems to map to the same thing) and then change these two lines in /etc/pulse/daemon.conf: -; default-sample-rate = 44100 -; alternate-sample-rate = 48000 +default-sample-rate = 48000 +alternate-sample-rate = 44100 Restart pulseaudio with systemctl --user …

Hi guys. I have been using a RockPro64 as a miniserver for many years. It runs stable most of the time. I have assigned it a host name "ab2" via armbian-config. It usually responds well to this alias. Only from time to time it happens that it no longer responds to the hostname. Only a reboot helps. Do you have any idea what this could be? PS Thanks for your great work! Sem

I thought I had read that someone had the T2U working out of the box. Well, it's mostly there. When I tried it, didn't work. Got message in dmesg that firmware file not found. Did a Google search and found that it came down to the mediatek firmware files needing to be in the /lib/firmware/mediatek directory but they are currently in the /lib/firmware directory. FYI, the /lib/firmware/mediatek directory already existed and did not need to be created. Also in the current Jammy Gnome desktop Armbian, the file that was being loaded, mt7610e.bin, was not there and only the backup file, mt7610u.bin, was there in the /lib/firmware directory. What I d…

Last week installed Armbian for the first time on my Pinebook Pro that was basically bricked from Manjaro. Everything worked great! Audio is a little weak, but will look into that later. Today I pulled down the 25.2.1/6.12.16 update. On booting in Grub, I now get a message "Loading Device Tree Blob...", followed by "Error: not a regular file Press any key to continue". The boot then continues after a bit, and system seems to work fine from a user perspective after that (posting this from the machine). But there are some rockchip-pcie, rk3399-dmc-freq and brcmf errors in the armbianmonitor output (attached url) . I'm an Armbian noob, so dunno if the…

I have been working on rk3328 (kernel 6.1) based board recently and have been trying to bringup wifi RTL8723AS module using rockpi-e image. As there is no direct support available for this module I have tried to cloning it from github and building it but it gives compilation errors. Hence I referred to drivers available in the kernel and found one for the module similar to that of my module (RTL8723BS), cross verified through user manual and datasheets and build it using armbian. The driver gets built properly and even initializes upon powerup but it isn't getting into probe. The wifi is interfaced through SDIO to the board. Any idea what might b…

Hello, I have installed the minimal Trixie based image for Orange Pi5 (the image named Armbian_26.2.1_Orangepi5_trixie_current_6.18.8_minimal) and then attempted to build an out-of-tree kernel module. Having installed dkms and build-essentials, plus the kernel headers through armbian-config, I found the headers package hasn't been fully set-up, the build symlink in /lib/modules/<KVER> is missing and dkms complains that the kernel headers for the kernel are not installed. The kernel headers are installed though, but it looks like they're from a previous release (25.11.2 instead of 26.2.1). # dpkg -l | grep rockchip ii linux-dtb-cur…

Hi, SD card did not load Armbian_25.8.1_Orangepi5_trixie_current_6.12.41_xfce_desktop. I noticed that in boot.cmd line 9 , rootdev is defined as /dev/mmcblk0p1. Should that be /dev/mmcblk0n1 or /dev/mmcblk0n1p1? I note that this file should not be edited and the armbianEnv.txt only refers to rootdev=UUID=7e27c862-0a39-41cd-891e-7d77ff7968fd. Is this an error or am I off course? If so where do I correct it? cheers

I also noticed that the suffix is not -mesa-desktop, only -desktop. Is it as per design and i3 doesn't include mesa at all, or is it some kind of bug? Thanks!

Hi folks, Ran into some issues with July 6 bookworm images for Orange Pi 5 Plus - it boots but there is no video or network. Orange Pi 5B has a note to change the dtb - one is also needed for the 5 Plus. It should be `fdtfile=rockchip/rk3588-orangepi-5-plus.dtb`. (I tried to search for related issues, but the rate limit is stopped me so I gave up.)

Is there any trick to make use of the integrated fan on Radxa 25W PoE Hat? I'm using 4GB Radxa Rock 5C Lite Armbian_25.5.1_Rock-5c_bookworm_vendor_6.1.115_minimal Some guides mention that one should enable an overlay. I didn't find any relevant overlays in armbian-config. In the Radxa repo I found rock-5a-radxa-25w-poe.dts which specifies that it's also compatible with Rock 5C. I've compiled it and enabled it, but by default the fan is not spinning (on high temps) and I'm not sure how to investigate that. Also, does it matter that I have 5C Lite? On my Odroid M1 I have a display that will not work, other displays do work. Unfortunately, I need this display to work. When I plug it in, I see "PHY PLL not locked" in dmesg. If I boot with it plugged in, I see the Hard Kernel logo, then the screen turns off as Armbian boots. I booted into the Ubuntu 20.04 Gnome image provided by HardKernel and that one works. 1. What could I change to allow this display to be detected? 2. Can I just force the board to boot with output to 1024x768@60. I just need the output. Thanks all.

Hello, After several days of debug I put the finger on a very strange issue using integrated Ethernet. I use my Rockpro64 mostly as a Samba and DNS server. In my network context I implement 2 vlans as vlan interfaces (eth0.10 and eth0.20). Each of these interfaces needs to use a specific mac address that differs from physical eth0 mac address (it is an important point). If I use only the physical mac my router is not be able to route correctly between vlans (probably an ivl/svl issue). Under this context I first noticed that when I bring down eth0.20 although using vlan 10 (so eth0.10) connectivity is lost. I then wr…

Hey! I recently got a CAN-bus up and running on a Tinkerboard running Armbian, but I've run into another problem here: The CAN-bus buffer fills up. After sending a few messages I get an error saying "No buffer space available". I've noticed that some other people are solving this by increasing the buffer size, but that seems like a weird solution to me. And it wouldn't really help me much. I need to empty this buffer when I read from it, or manually (without restarting the CAN-bus). Any ideas on how to do that? Thanks

This is how I collected it. Basically during the state of throwing errors the board becomes unresponsitive and continously heats up. Active cooling was in place so no danger of overheating. https:/…
