  1. Hi, Thank you for maintaining this excellent distribution, I have tried out this evening, via SD card, the new Armbian 23.11 Bookworm CLI Kernel 6.7 and I wanted to share some feedback on it along with some queries please: 1) HDMI works connected to my 4K Samsung TV, although I had to turn off "Input Signal Plus" for it to display the console correctly, otherwise there were all manner of green rectangles and other screen corruption present. Turning off "Input Signal Plus" fixed this straight away. 2) I cannot access either of the SSDs I have connected to my powered USB 3 hub. I tried with the hub connected to the USB-C port …

  2. Hi, The release notes for Armbian 23.11 state, under Key Improvements in This Release, "Mainline Kernel for RK3588 with experimental HDMI support." I am currently running the default 5.10.160-legacy-rk35xx kernel If I wanted to switch to and try out the mainline kernel for RK3588 with experimental HDMI support, would I do something like this: sudo apt install linux-image-collabora-rockchip-rk3588 After testing, If I want to rollback to the default legacy kernel, what are the steps involved? Apologies if there are instructions elsewhere that cover this. Thanks in advance for any guidance.

  3. Have an incident where I tried installing a newer kernel in an nvme working setup and the device wont post. My original installation flash card is working but is giving me problems. So I got 2 others and attempted to boot new version of the image and Im getting no post. I was able to solve my original problem by installing a legacy version in flash and copying /boot over to nvme. I also attempted rebuilding the mme partitions with no success. But it seems that there is something not working right with kernel 6.7.

Hello folks, I happily run Armbian Jammy XFCE on my much beloved Meko box (with at least SOME hardware accel) and Bookworm on Orange Pi 5. Both run excellent, but Jammy/xfce is a bit more snappy. probably because of partly harware accell. On the Meko R3588 4Gb box I installed Docker, Portainer, MQTT server container, Home Assistant container. All is well. I operate my boxes via RealVNC, so that it also will work seemlessly when VPN is active. The containers are so extremely light that they hardly take a few percent CPU. Home Assistant container takes 0,5Gig or so, MQTT server takes 0.1Gig. My first encounter with docker is very positive! Next I will try to add open VPN an…

  7. I haven't touched my ROCKPro64 for quite a while. Pulled it out today and starting playing with it. I was getting 2 blinks of white LED, then a pause, then repeating. I thought it wasn't booting or something. After checking a whole bunch of things, including connecting a serial terminal, I finally realized I had a bad Ethernet cable (and this was why it was not showing up on my router). The board (and OS installed to eMMC) had been fine the whole time. Now, my understanding is that the LED behavior is particular to software (bootloader, I guess?). But FWIW, on a slightly older Armbian (21.02.3) at least, this appears to be default b…

  8. to recap: Tinkerboard (rev 1?) has 2 USB devices (from RK3288's internal ports), one for the Realtek HD audio, and one for the 4 USB ports (Genesys 4-port USB hub). while i have no info for the HD audio, the hub is powered via the 5V lines (noted as V5 pin in the datasheet). my mistake would be not checking if all the 5V power lines are shorted, or it's just connected to the hub. there's an option to NC the pin if using an external regulator (say, the RK808 power management chip?) The LAN is separated to the hub and instead directly connected to the RK3288 At least the datasheet for RK3288 says. no pinouts whatsoever so i think …

  9. Hello everyone, Thank you for stopping buy and reading this thread. I have Orange Pi 4 LTS with the latest Armbian Jammy image (Armbian_23.8.1_Orangepi4-lts_jammy_current_6.1.50). But I also want to mention that I've tried the same thing on the "official" Ubuntu image from OrangePi website and it was the same. I need to decode and show RTSP video stream, h264 encoded. First of all, I've tried gstreamer with v4l2 codecs. I was using v4l2slh264dec from gst_plugins_bad. This is the only hardware codec in gstreamer for my device (at least available by default) and it worked fine until I started encountering a strange bug when my video getting stuck into 0.5-1…

  10. Hi, I was just trying to test locally build image with edge kernel (Armbian_23.11.0-trunk_Orangepi5-plus_bookworm_edge_6.6.0-rc1.img) by flashing it on SD card and then trying to boot off it in my Orange Pi 5+. The board just sits there with the LED blinking and that's it. The legacy kernel image (Armbian_23.11.0-trunk_Orangepi5-plus_bookworm_legacy_5.10.160.img) boots fine. Do I have to carry out some extra step(s) to test the edge kernel? It's not a show-stopper for me as I have legacy image booting of EMMC nicely (and I am running jellyfin in docker happily there). It's just I thought I might test out some bleeding-edge s…

On the left, also USB flash drive doesn't work. No idea, what could it be? Before, as already said, it has worked in 90%. Before firmware upgrade.

Hi all, this is my first post here on the forum. I'm getting ready to wrap up for the night, but I recently purchased an Orange Pi 5 (non-B) to do some tinkering with. I downloaded the Bookworm XFCE variant as I am somewhat familiar with XFCE already. Anyway, upon initial testing, I thought my power supply wasn't good enough for the board. I wasn't getting any HDMI output. When I removed the micro-SD card and tried to boot it that way, an orange pi splash screen would show on the attached display, so I think the port actually works (?) I have a spare USB to TTL Serial adapter so I was able to verify the board was successfull…

  22. I'm trying to use an SPI driven TFT display on the orange pi 5, but I'm stuck on enabling SPI in the first place. Looking at the pinout of the orange pi 5 in its manual, it appears that SPI4...M0 is the only bus broken out to the pins. However, enabling "rk3588-spi4-m0-cs1-spidev" in the armbian-config menu does not seem to do anything, as no /dev/spi device exists after a reboot. Enabling any of the other spi hardware functions seems to work just fine, creating a /dev/spi device as expected, but none of the other spi busses are accessible through the pin header. So, the problem is with orange pi with armbian and this specific screen. I tried 2 different SD cards too. Board was connected through UART0 to PC and while I get output when I use rkdeveloptool, there is no output when trying to boot normally. However, latest image from https://github.com/radxa/rock-pi-s-images-released/releases works (rockpis_debian_buster_server_arm64_20210924_0412-gpt.img) does boot if I write it to SD NAND or SD card. If I run the Orange PI5 plus with the same SD card as the Orange Pi 5, would it work? If not, is there an easy thing to do to make it work? I think there is a device tree file hardware specific , but is it read when compiling the kernel or dynamically? I am asking because processors are very similar, and it would make my life easier! 98. I bought a Pinebook Pro two weeks ago. It came with Manjaro KDE preinstalled on EMMC. I wanted to try out Armbian, so I downloaded the Bookworm XFCE image from May 27th. I have tried the Display Settings which only has 1280x720 and I can't change the scale, also I have tried changing the values in Settings Editor but that doesn't change anything. (DISPLAY=:0 xrandr -q) shows: xrandr: Failed to get size of gamma for output default Screen 0: minimum 1280 x 720, current 1280 x 720, maximum 1280 x 720 default connected 1280x720+0+0 0mm x 0mm 1280x720 0.00* I have limited experience with XFCE and terminal commands, any help is appreciated thanks.
