  1. Is it possible to load the A72 cortex with more computation work compared to A53 cortex? Specially during multithreading can i generate more cores on A72 cortex as it is significantly faster? While compiling there is a flag to select the appropriate cortex (-mtune=cortex-a72.cortex-a53) but it only generates appropriate cortex code. Any way to control these cortex based on the application?

  5. I am running Ubuntu 24.04 Noble (Armbian Linux 6.1.115-vendor-rk35xx) and no additional packages affecting VPU performance have been installed; everything is stock. Jellyfin is running in Docker, and transcoding works perfectly, except for some movies. I tried to play a 4K video in Chrome (native HEVC support), set the bitrate to 40mbps, and the video played normally at a transcoding speed of about 3x, but after a while, Orange Pi crashed. In Firefox inside neko (where there is no hardware acceleration and HEVC), the crash happened even faster, after ~2 seconds of playback. The crash happens as if the board loses power: journalctl is not saved, nothing is …

I have a couple Orange Pi's, and the HDMI is broken. I noticed that many believe that it is Armbian, but it is not. Orange Pi's probably won't be where we want them until 2025. I found a couple notes from development teams, one below and one from September. Both say the same thing: essentially it's in the works: "The RK3588 SoC family integrates the newer Synopsys DesignWare HDMI 2.1 Quad-Pixel (QP) TX controller IP and a HDMI/eDP TX Combo PHY based on a Samsung IP block. Add just the basic support for now, i.e. RGB output up to 4K@60Hz, without audio, CEC or any of the HDMI 2.1 specific features." https://patchwork.kernel.org/project/linux-rockchip/pa…

  13. Hi, this week my Rock 5 ITX+ board arrived and I started installing Armbian with vendor kernel (now on 6.1.99-vendor-rk35xx). This board has slightly different hardware than the original ITX. It has two M.2 M-key (2-lanes) instead of one M.2 M-key and four SATA ports. I think because of the different hardware configuration the DTB has to be changed as no SATA controller is present on the board. With the ITX DTB I am experiencing problems with not regonizing NVME disks when activating ASPM in armbianEnv.txt. Hello, I have installed the Armbian 26.2 minimal IOT image based on Debian 13 Trixie - with the 6.18.x kernel - and I noticed the USB2 port (the single, vertical port next to the Ethernet port) is not working. Is this a limitation of the mainstream kernel (6.18.x) - i.e. does this work only with the vendor kernel (6.1.x) ? NB: I upgraded to 6.19 using the 'edge' kernel, but I'm seeing the same behavior. In our testing, when attempting to use various Wi-Fi mini-PCIe/M.2 adapters from Intel and Realtek, we've encountered problem: oftentimes OS will not see PCIe device with error "PCIe link training gen1 timeout". 46. Hello! Iv'e just done a test run installing Armbian for booting off my new m.2 nvme drive. As 'm planning to have the drives 2nd large partition as my basic home file server I'm wondering if I can as easily re-install the OS if/when I need to update it to a newer one? Because the instructions I followed and that I see around do a very basic cat /dev/mmcblk1 > /dev/nvme0n1 onto the raw un-partitioned nvme. My case will be that I have data on a partition on that drive that needs to stay. Is this going to be an issue or are there ways to re-install Armbian or even other distro on the boot partition? Cheers!

  51. Hi, I am wanting to try running OPNsense under proxmox, but before that I wanted to setup the type-C port as a management port. I have added g_cdc in /etc/modules to load the kernel module and if I run a vendor kernel, it works fine. I plug my laptop in to the boards type-C port and it shows up as an ethernet adapter and I can SSH directly to the Rock 5 ITX. I however would like to use a mainline kernel instead as it generally runs better thanks to the amazing work of the community here. Running 6.12, this same functionality does not work and nothing appears in the network adapters on my laptop when plugging in. Looking on mainline-status, I see that the typ…

Hi! With I tinkerboard I installed the Ubuntu Desktop - legacy kernel. I wanted to try the linux-image-next-rockchip, but it had some problems (new IP address at each boot), so I wanted to go back to linux-image-rockchip. When I installed linux-image-rockchip, I got 4.4.73-rockchip and not 4.4.88-rockchip which I had before.

Is there a known workaround besides utilization of firefox?

Hi, has any of you some experience connecting a Hifiberry Amp+ to a Tinkerboard - on Hifiberry pages this is now a possible connecting but I miss a howto and would really appreciate a quick start on this. Have previously succeed with Raspberry 3 and IQaudio - but intend to take a step further and do a project being more than just an amplifier. After testing several OS I have to admit Armbian has become my favorite and it is within this OS I hope to achieve this.

I am using the Tinker Board S (via SD card, had same issue using EMMC img also) with the Bionic mainline kernel 4.14.y (in armbian config tool it shows Armbian 5.60 Stable ) on an LG 24LF452B montior/tv with the boards HDMI port and no adapters. Hello, I would like to know more informations about this test made with the Asus XG-C100C Network Adapter or, generally, how to optimize the speed from a 10GbE PCIe Network Adapter in the RockPro64. Which version to use of Armbian and how to get that version to have so good performances? Which version of the Adapter driver to use? Were the drivers included in the Kernel or did you use the Asus driver recompiled? I would be very grateful if you will help me. Thank you.

But the /boot/boot.cmd is still the old one and the Overlays are not working. Maybe I'm blind, but I do not see, how to update u-boot and the boot.cmd as part of it via armbian-config. Can someone point me to the right direction? Thanks, Alex

  61. Has anyone ever gotten the Radxa Zero 3w working in gadget mode? I bought a Zero 3w about a week ago and have been beating this horse most of the time. I can't get the device to connect via USB. A or C. When I try to connect (radxa.local) it will always go through wifi. If I have wlan0 disabled or even my internet off it just will NOT connect. It clearly is using wifi to connect even if I use the hostname. Maybe this is something simple but I and another engineer I work with have been scratching our heads about it. The obligatory AI search was an endless loop of everything we had already tried. Anybody have any advice?

  75. Armbian 24.5.1. I don't have a serial console setup so I can't tell if it's actually starting to boot or not, but it never gets to the point where a video signal is sent to HDMI. It *does* send a CEC on signal to the TV, which does turn on, and power-cycling the Pi then begins a normal boot process. Pi also boots normally headless. Problem noted on one Insignia model and on a Vizio TV, works as expected on another Insignia model, on a Hisense and on an LG. Issue began after updating the kernel from legacy.
