  3. Hello, I have experimented with a Realtek USB 2.5Gbe USB Ethernet dongle and find that it works fine with the vendor kernel but not with kernels 6.12.x or 6.18.y. I have included an iperf3 example below, you can see that the dongle manages a few runs at high speed before it quietly fails and seizes up. I use a number of these dongles and they tend to work fine on other set-ups. 4. If you'd like to get the LEDs working with armbian, you can run these commands (or one of the other ones if you want different indications): run modprobe ledtrig-netdev to check if it's loading the driver properly. If not, add the file /etc/modules-load.d/ledtrig.conf add just this line: ledtrig-netdev Then, create /etc/tmpfiles.d/leds.conf and add this: w /sys/class/leds/green:lan/trigger - - - - netdev w /sys/class/leds/green:lan/device_name - - - - eth0 w /sys/class/leds/green:lan/link - - - - 1 w /sys/class/leds/green:lan/tx - - - - 1 w /sys/class/leds/green:lan/rx - - - - 1 w /sys/class/leds/green:wan/trigger - - - - netd…

  6. Hello, I have installed the minimal Trixie based image for Orange Pi5 (the image named Armbian_26.2.1_Orangepi5_trixie_current_6.18.8_minimal) and then attempted to build an out-of-tree kernel module. Having installed dkms and build-essentials, plus the kernel headers through armbian-config, I found the headers package hasn't been fully set-up, the build symlink in /lib/modules/<KVER> is missing and dkms complains that the kernel headers for the kernel are not installed. The kernel headers are installed though, but it looks like they're from a previous release (25.11.2 instead of 26.2.1). # dpkg -l | grep rockchip ii linux-dtb-cur…

  9. I have a RK3588 (Radxa Rock 5C) system running Armbian Debian Trixie. I have the heatsink and the fan installed as well. I set the fan PWM to 255 as soon as temperature reaches 50 degrees via a systemd service. When using all 8 cores, the system overheats (>110 degrees) and eventually shuts down. For example, when compiling ffmpeg, it works fine with 'make -j6', but 'make -j8' results in a shutdown before compilation is complete. Likewise I had thermal issues when using llama.cpp. Shouldn't the OS throttle the CPU when temperature reaches high levels? I think that is not happening at the moment. And i investigated and googled, spent more enough time to fix it but still fail. It is not likely reservation. also tried with bookworm the result is same 3gb. with noble minimal the board doesn't boot at all. what can i do to make os detect all 4 gbs. Maybe there was some similar issue before and i missed? Many thanks, appreciate any help!

My first post here - I'm new to SBCs and stoked I got my home webserver up and running on a Orange Pi 5 which boots from an NVMe (pats-self-on-back : -) It runs great, pages are up, and it's all SO COOL, but it fails to do a restart... I can do a shutdown -h now, count to three and power it back up and all is well, but if I do a shutdown -r now it will go down, start back up, all the way to the login prompt but then barfs a long Oops message. God please... don't make me start over !

  15. It seems that the HDMI output does not have any option beyond 1080P. Tried multiple monitors. The font size at uboot stage seems right but the resolution maxed out at 1080P after kernel starts. Tried Armbian 24.2.1 with 6.6.16. Could be related with this: https://forum.manjaro.org/t/rk3399-hdmi-output-for-resolutions-different-than-1080p/90644. but patches should be applied at Kernel 6.4: https://www.phoronix.com/news/Linux-6.4-imx25-Rockchip-4K Attached is the screenshot when connected with DELL 25inch monitor. Should have 2K option. diagnoses: https://paste.armbian.com/gaketoluye Thank you

  16. Does anybody know how one could correct multichannel HDMI audio mapping in the current-rockchip64 build or kernel? When I run speaker-test -c6 -D plughw:0,0 on (kernel) 6.1.115-vendor-rk35xx + (dtb) dtb-6.1.115-vendor-rk35xx Everything is mapped correctly and I hear audio from all the correct channels. When I run the same command on (kernel) 6.18.12-current-rockchip64 + (dtb) dtb-6.18.12-current-rockchip64 I get no audio on center and rear right channels (others are working). Is this a mistake or error in the DTB file of dtb-6.18.12-current-rockchip64 (rk3588s-nanopi-r6s.dtb) ? How can we correct this?

How can I recover the unit?

  19. Yesterday I was happy to see the new and fresh Armbian release for the Rock 5 ITX after about 1 year from the last update. I also tried the Armbian Imager and the SD creation was very easy and smooth. I selected the recommended release based on Ubuntu 24.04 + Gnome desktop. Unfortunately when the desktop was about to start, everything when black, stucked and zero interface. On the other hand, the OS is alive and I can connect remotely via SSH. Did anyone have the same problem? Possible solution? [EDIT]. sudo systemctl restart gdm and desktop pops up. Restarting the system, black again.

  26. Hi, I've read on here that you can apparently switch to a stable edge branch through Armbian Config, but the closest I can find is 'switch to rolling packages repository' and 'distribution upgrade to rolling unstable'. 27. Hi there, I'm really happy with Armbian on my Oprange Pi 5 Plus but recently I noticed that I'm not getting kernel updates so often as before. I use rockchip-edge branch and I'm stuck at kernel "6.18.0-rc6-edge-rockchip64". I know there are new versions being tested (https://github.com/armbian/os/pkgs/container/os%2Fkernel-rockchip64-edge), will they be released to armbian? Maybe you are working hard on Armbian version 26.2 and I'm just anxious Thanks in advance!

  36. Hello, After 5 years of loyal service, my Helios64 SBC just died on me last night. Would a Radxa Rock5 ITX+ and a M.2 to Hexa SATA Adapter could be a good drop in replacement to reuse the case? Both are Mini-ITX so it would fit. I know I would lose the front panel lights and power/reset button, and I would need to cut the back panel to fit the I/O shield but these are minor problems. What I am more concerned with, is if it is at all possible to power the 5 HDD from the radxa board (as the Helios 64 board didi). Helios engineers had made it possible to do it with minimum power, mainly by starting up the drives sequentially. …

This time I optimized or rather fixed the wake-up function via USB/WoL/WWoL on the Orange Pi 5 Plus. Also got the WiFi adapter RTW8852BE/RTW8852CE working (at least those are the ones I tested). I tested exclusively on the Vendor 6.1.x kernel since the main wake-up features via USB/PCIE/GPIO1-GPIO4 only work in it. I don't currently have the ability to test the new current kernel and I doubt that Power Management will work fully there. Armbian for Orange Pi 5 Plus from the official website, Vendor kernel (kernel 6.1.115-vendor-rk35xx), what does…

  48. I understand that panthor is not supported for wayland but in that case I would expect libmali to fill in... but I ended up with lvmpipe. The overlay along with another recent post led me to believe that panthor was the expected default and libmali was an artifact, but I'm now questioning that after finding a thread identifying use cases where libmali can be preferred and a comment suggesting panthor wouldn't be available until 6.13. As a result, I am now questioning if there is a reason that software acceleration is the default and the user is expected to determine which path they want to go? I know support for the hardware has been slow going so I …

  51. Hi Installed Armbian_25.11.1_Rock-5c_trixie_current_6.12.58_minimal.img and one of the USB-3 port, the top one, doesn't work. No reaction when inserting something, nothing in /var/log/syslog. 52. Hi I am looking for a low power, fanless, solution for a Debian server with a single large 3.5" SATA drive. I don't want to boot from the SATA so I guess I'd buy an eMMC module as well. Currently I have an Orange Pi4 LTS with a weird expansion board and a generic Mini PCIe to SATA, but it isn't stable enough. Given that the Rock 5C has platinum support and works with the Penta SATA hat I'm wondering if it might be more reliable? thanks

  53. If any of you have experienced skipping and popping when seeking with vlc, you can try setting the audio sink to ALSA and one of the rockchip-es8316 options. That will smooth out the audio playback BUT you will quickly discover that anything pulseaudio related is locked out of using the soundcard while vlc is up. Instead, try this. Set vlc audio back to pulseaudio (or automatic, seems to map to the same thing) and then change these two lines in /etc/pulse/daemon.conf: -; default-sample-rate = 44100 -; alternate-sample-rate = 48000 +default-sample-rate = 48000 +alternate-sample-rate = 44100 Restart pulseaudio with systemctl --user …

  55. Hello, my Orange Pi 5 works well with the stock OS (1.22, Ubuntu Jammy, BSP kernel 6.1.99), using the SD as a boot device. It also works ok with Armbian Minimal-IoT / Debian 13 / 6.1: v25.8.2 for Orange Pi 5 running Armbian Linux 6.1.115-vendor-rk35xx But I prefer Ubuntu and wanted to try 6.12, so I downloaded 25.8.2 / Ubuntu Server / 6.12. Hi, I've tried to setup the latest Debian 13 (Trixie) for the Renegade board. I can flash the image with no issue. The problem comes it boots up, prompts for root password. I can type in then press enter, and then it goes to login. This only happens on the Debian 13 (Trixie). I am using the Debian 12 XFCE imange no issue. I am not sure if this is a bug or what, but I loved to use Debian 13, I am trying to setup Docker with the latest OS.

The ALSA HDMI card seems to be present (see below), but there's no sound using speaker-test or aplay. I have enabled the hdmirx overlay through armbian-config also, but the result is the same. Is there anything extra that should be configured in order to get audio output ? Output from armbianmonitor - https://paste.armbian.com/gegorimako

  96. Hi, SD card did not load Armbian_25.8.1_Orangepi5_trixie_current_6.12.41_xfce_desktop. I noticed that in boot.cmd line 9 , rootdev is defined as /dev/mmcblk0p1. Should that be /dev/mmcblk0n1 or /dev/mmcblk0n1p1? I note that this file should not be edited and the armbianEnv.txt only refers to rootdev=UUID=7e27c862-0a39-41cd-891e-7d77ff7968fd. Is this an error or am I off course? If so where do I correct it? cheers

  97. Greetings everyone. I hope to receive some assistance here. Our company is a small Linux cloud gaming provider that uses the Cinnamon edition of Linux Mint for our cloud gaming services https://maximumsettings.com/ . We are searching for an affordable local streaming device that we can recommend to our clients, capable of decoding H.265 at 4K - 80Mbps. The Orange Pi 5 is a perfect fit for this role, and the Armbian Cinnamon desktop is well-suited since our clients already use Linux Mint Cinnamon edition on the cloud Gaming PC. However, there is currently no support for our open-source streaming client, Moonlight, which we use as the default option for our clients. T…

  98. Orange Pi 5 · Started by royk,

I had some difficulties to make my sata disk work and found out that the regulator had to be switched on. So here a dtbo and source to make it hopefully a bit easier for some others. Easiest way to install is "sudo armbian-add-overlay orangepi-5-sata.dts" orangepi-5-sata.dtbo orangepi-5-sata.dts

  99. My setup is still running, yay! I even updated to Trixie and all worked out fine. But I'm stuck on edge kernel 6.12.x, I saw that rolling had 6.16.x. So how do I install/convert to the rolling 6.16.x edge kernel ?
